Immediately felt made to feel special and like a regular customer. Cottage pie was really good had a special smokiness to it. Would definitely return, although an hour and a half from where we live so not local. If over this way again will make special trip to return. Lovely welcoming environment 😊

Stopped for tea and cake whilst travelling through. Obviously popular with locals as it is a tea shop and does takeaway sandwiches made to order. Looked fine, nice old building but the flies at this time did not make for a good feeling. The tea was very weak probably because the cup was too big, I couldn't tell that I was drinking earl grey. Cake was fine.

Had a luke warm very uninspiring breakfast. Pre cooked bacon warmed up, no sausage on one of the full breakfast’s, no fruit, (fresh or otherwise) on the overnight oats and coffee not very hot. Out of seven of us only one person happy with their Eggs florentine. We were the only people in the restaurant at 10am so didn’t think it would be that hard to get things so wrong. Chose the venue because of rave reviews but guessed we just turned up at the wrong time of day and got unlucky. Left feeling we had got very poor value for money and unlikely to return.

Celebrated my 60th birthday here with my family. Could not have chosen better. The food was very tasty (Welsh rarebit, burger, halloumi burger, steak and ale pie, banoffee pie, chocolate brownie and sorbets/ice cream). Harvey's brewery supplies the beer, so that is taken care of. The pub is a handsome one, both inside and out. And the service was excellent, no issue at all with paying the service charge when it is as good as that. The only problem is that it is too far away from where we live!

I went to the Brown Trout for lunch today hoping to have mussels but, unfortunately, they weren't available. I went for the seafood sharing platter instead and what I got was a walk through Aldi frozen foods. Fish goujons, salt and pepper squid and prawns smothered in three different tasting batters. I really hope that critisism is taken constructively as, otherwise, the Brown Trout is a really nice place with pleasant and welcoming staff.

We visited the restaurant with family who were staying at the hotel. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely Waitress (Sophie) who showed us to our beautifully decorated table and took our drinks order. Despite the extensive seasonal menu the whole party decided on the roast turkey. When it arrived it was very well presented and looked delicious and we certainly weren’t disappointed, it exceeded our expectations. it’s difficult to find a perfect roast when eating out but this was perfectly cooked with a super vegetable selection. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant. We will certainly return.

Lovely setting and tasty food, but really let down by staff who were sullen and made us feel very unwelcome. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

Great place to drop into if you want a quick cup of coffee (and/or snack). The service is quick and friendly and the coffee is good. You can either drink it in your vehicle or at the outdoor tables (with good views across the surrounding countryside), as long as it's not raining or cold.
