Immediately felt made to feel special and like a regular customer. Cottage pie was really good had a special smokiness to it. Would definitely return, although an hour and a half from where we live so not local. If over this way again will make special trip to return. Lovely welcoming environment 😊

Stopped for tea and cake whilst travelling through. Obviously popular with locals as it is a tea shop and does takeaway sandwiches made to order. Looked fine, nice old building but the flies at this time did not make for a good feeling. The tea was very weak probably because the cup was too big, I couldn't tell that I was drinking earl grey. Cake was fine.

Great food and service from Adam we did an overnight stop for dinner in our Motorhome. Lovely decor and ambience. Nice to find a business sourcing local produce and we thought good value for money given the quality of the food and presentation. The only downside was the discretionary 12.5% service charge. We always reward great service with a tip and always object to this being added on especially 12.5%! That said Adam was charming and very gracious when we challenged 12.5%

Took my son for a Sunday dinner treat at this quaint pub , on the outskirts of the village. Admittedly, third choice of venue, more local pubs were busy… this one , perhaps tellingly was not. Staff , pleasant enough- shown to our table and service quickly made. The carvery had the usual choice of 3 meats, roast potatoes & decent Yorkshire pudding- just the vegetables to help yourselves to - not a massive choice. Plates could have been warmed ( food got a bit tepid towards the end ) and also could have been cleaner - I had to swap a plate over before having my dinner served on it. Not sure about the ( presumably) member of staff stepping out the kitchen munching on a roast potato, while walking around the restaurant.. All minor details, until I paid the bill- which for 2 carvery dinners & three & a half pints of Inches cider totalled £57.55 . I didn’t think that was particularly good value, and was told I couldn’t have a receipt, so I couldn’t see the price breakdown. Shame ☹️

We visited the restaurant with family who were staying at the hotel. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely Waitress (Sophie) who showed us to our beautifully decorated table and took our drinks order. Despite the extensive seasonal menu the whole party decided on the roast turkey. When it arrived it was very well presented and looked delicious and we certainly weren’t disappointed, it exceeded our expectations. it’s difficult to find a perfect roast when eating out but this was perfectly cooked with a super vegetable selection. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant. We will certainly return.

A typical National Trust Tearoom serving the usual good National Trust snacks and cakes. The staff are very friendly and helpful and, when it's busy, do their level best to make sure that you don't have to wait too long. Plenty of seating both inside and outside, which is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly, and clean toilet facilities are just around the corner. Dogs are allowed at the outside tables.

Lovely setting and tasty food, but really let down by staff who were sullen and made us feel very unwelcome. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

Great place to drop into if you want a quick cup of coffee (and/or snack). The service is quick and friendly and the coffee is good. You can either drink it in your vehicle or at the outdoor tables (with good views across the surrounding countryside), as long as it's not raining or cold.
