Great to go back again and enjoy this lovely old pub. Staff were excellent 👍

Me and my Partner went to Elephants Head on the Saturday 3rd May for a meal. Very nice starters we, had the fried squid and some bread very tasty. For main I had the Eli Burger my partner the fish and chips they were great and very tasty meals. The service was great also a great atmosphere. Very nice garden.

An amazing discovery beautiful countryside pub ❤️ lots of character, very cosy inside, beautiful space outside, surrounded by lovely scenery! Staff all incredibly friendly and helpful, food delicious - highly recommend bbq platter, generous portion and lovely selection of everything we could wish for. Homely atmosphere throughout, would love to come back!

Such a welcome to this historic pub, by delightful bar staff/waitresses. They really were outstanding. Sadly, the food wasn't too fab and definitely not reflecting the price!

Was looking forward to a family lunch, it was a shame that a lot of the menu wasn't available however maybe this was due to having a busy Easter weekend. Service was friendly but could have been slightly more attentive. Will try again maybe not on such a busy weekend.

Lovely quaint pub out in Hook Green. We came upon it by chance the first time, and drove 50 mins just to visit again recently. Both times we were more than impressed by the food and the really warm and friendly service. It's clearly well loved by regular locals and it's easy to see why. Will return again.

Visited after a long day driving and was greeted by brilliant staff members. I ordered an 'Ele' BLT and it was superb and washed down with a refreshing Ginger beer. Really warm welcome, great service, great food and great atmosphere. See you again soon!

A brilliantly run, proper country pub. Great selection of beers, with lovely, cosy bar area. Loads of space for dining and a great menu (including sandwiches, which is nice to have as an option). They had lots of well trained staff and the service was fantastic. All in all, I could not have asked for more following a nice circular, winter walk.

Very disappointing, fish was soggy nothing said. 10% service fee added without being told. Put in the back room no atmosphere and service wasn’t great

What an excellent boozer. We stopped for lunch while on a day hike. Both beers I had were perfectly kept. Friendly staff gave us a warm welcome despite our being 20 minutes late because of my partner's appalling map-reading skills. Great atmosphere generated by a mixed crowd with the pub full at 12:30pm on a Saturday. The governors are doing a lot of things right.

Stopped on our travels home. Excellent home cooked food, great portion sizes, and our Greyhound Tom made very welcome. Would highly recommend.

Nice pub of the beaten track with a good range of foods with a really good standard. They don't shirk on portion sizes!

Met up with friends before going to open air play at Scotney Castle. Sat outside in garden, surrounded by beautiful views. Food was delicious (veggie) and served promptly, with a smile. So pleased we stopped and ate here. Check out their full menu on line. Really worth a visit.

Eight of us and a dog had Sunday lunch here, roast beef was superb and cooked just right. Prices very reasonable and good range of deserts.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. A good selection on the menu. Tasty food and generous portions. We will return, perhaps on their steak night. There is plenty of seating outside and parking. Inside was full of character.

Had my father's wake here for 40 people. Staff top notch. Screen for photos and the buffet food on the platinum was excellent. Not issues. And TBH very very well priced. We had most of the pub and rear garden at our disposal. Really helpful and friendly in such a hard time for us. So even family stayed to have evening dinner as well and from what I say the dishes where lively. No complaints from the 45 strong Smith family

After a hard day's ride at Bewl Water. We all went to this nearby country pub. The food was ok, but the service and staff were excellent and very accommodating. The pub atmosphere and ambience was excellent, very calming, friendly and family orientated. There was a live singer in the pub garden, which was very very good, who was also good with interacting with customers outside. The clientele were also pleasant which for a London inner city geezer was very refreshing.

Very cute and homey pub serving great Sunday roast. The beef was tender and juicy, the vegetables fresh and not overcooked and the Yorkshire pudding fluffy and light. Only the potatoes were a slight let down- not so crispy but overall a very good meal and the service is excellent!

Went her today with my 6 year old. He said to me I don't want a roast I want ham egg and chips. I obviously had a roast. My boys came out and half way through he looked at me and said daddy, I'm sorry but this is even better than your ham egg and chips. Which is a massive compliment. My roast came out and it was a) huge and b) possibly the nicest roast dinner I've had out for a good few years . Was stunning, the staff were all really friendly and the atmosphere was second to none. I don't give a 5 star review easily but this place definitely deserved it today. Thanks to all the staff

Lovely pub lunch here, arrived not long before the kitchen was due to close, but they were happy to offer food, which was great. I had the burger and it was a lovely twist on the usual with bacon, nduja and cheese. Can't wait to go back.

Outstanding customer service I went into the pub this afternoon having broken down and waiting for the AA. They were so caring and thoughtful, checking in on me and even offering a complimentary drink. Whilst I was waiting I saw all the customers in there for mothers day also receiving wonderful customer service, so friendly and warm. I wasn't there to eat but the dishes looked absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be going back under better circumstances! When my assistance arrived I was even given the same posy of spring flowers that they were handing out to the mums. Thank you for making me feel welcome and cared for

Have been going to this pub for quite a long time and it’s now fast becoming one of my favourite places due to the efforts they’re clearly making. I had a very good lunch today - homemade coleslaw would have made it perfect.

We went to celebrate a birthday. Great steak night and tender steak. Fish and chips were also popular. Had Guinness 0% in a can which was great for the driver. Harvey's beer. Great atmosphere and service. They do Mexican nights on a Wednesday night. Dog friendly pub

Great food and lovely service but so cold inside. Temp today at zero outside but fires not lit inside and we were told that the landlord hadn't given permission for the Woodburner to be lit. Such a shame as we ate and left rather than take our time, purely because we were freezing!

Good service and lovely food at sensible prices. We shared a fishfinger baguette and chunky chips. Just what we needed half way along our 7mile walk.

This place is a little gem. As with the Abergavenny arms recently rated, a friend and I had called in for something to eat at the end of a 4 day wild camping trip in the woods and, although looking like we'd just crawled out of a hedge, we were warmly welcomed. We didn't eat here as the kitchen was closed at the time. We were, however, directed to the Abergavenny Arms and not treated any differently by the lady on the bar due to our appearance. We met a chap a few days previously when asking for directions, who I assume to be the owner. He was very helpful and gave us some information on the history of the building. Thanks very much!

The owner was so helpful when I went to enquire about holding a wake here. Nothing was to much trouble. On the day the food was delicious with plenty of options included as well, for those who are vegetarian in our family. All the guests commented on how lovely the food was. I really recommend calling in for a meal if you're passing or making a special trip there if you aren't!!

We had a wide selection served as a buffet for an event. My favourites were the delicious crispy, chunky chips and the brie and grape sandwiches. The sandwiches were fresh and soft and the chips crunchy and perfectly cooked. The food was beautifully presented and the staff were helpful and efficient.

I had two very drinkable pints of Harvey’s IPA perfect for a hot summer’s day. Large garden at rear. Plenty of parking. I didn’t have any food this time but the menu looks good. Recommended to visit if you are anywhere remotely near

This pub is indeed a hidden gem, kind people, clean, great food too. I recommend the chicken sandwich it is very crispy and juicy, the venison burger is delicious. The sweet potato fries are one of the best I've had. All in all, a very good experience.

....... "about your experience " Well that's one way to describe the food laid before our party. Over cooked lamb, quasi granule gravy, and impenetrable roast potatoes. Staff pleasant enough, but school dinners at a hefty price, go get southerners,you deserve this.

Our Sunday Roast was delightful and the service was impeccable. Our dining experience was made better by taking our drinks and desserts out in their (big) beautiful beer garden. Reasonably price too. It’s a thumbs up from me and my family. Dogs and children welcome *****

Lovely staff, beautiful spread for my husbands wake

We visited here last Sunday with our family. It had been recommended to us and we could see why. The Sunday roast was fabulous, lovely large portions and fresh vegetables. Our son had the cambenbert roast, which he thoroughly enjoyed while the rest of us had pork and lamb. The starter's and puddings were again very generous portion sizes.we would like to.try their Wednesday steak night and look forward to more meals here.

Traditional pub in a very pleasant rural setting. Bustling when we visited for Sunday lunch in January. Choice of four different roast meats plus a vegetarian option (and a combination of meats). Big tasty portions and good selection of side dishes. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Dog friendly too. Would visit again. Only one cask ale available though - Harvey’s (which was well kept).
