Stunning little pub that serves great food in a wonderful atmosphere.

Sunday lunch for 4 booked for 1.30. We arrived and ordered by 1.40 but had to wait an hour for the food to be served! We weren’t the only ones… Only 3 came at the same time. Undercooked roast potatoes. 1 carrot and 1 slice of greens each! Unacceptable for a £24 lunch. We duly complained, asked for extra veg and we did get 2 large servings of carrots and greens to share plus extra gravy. Just such a shame these weren’t provided as part of the meal: veg is not that expensive and should be plentiful. The food itself was tasty. Staff so young and uninterested in the service standards and clueless about the menu. The male duty manager was very apologetic and nice. We refused to pay service and finally got 20% knocked off the bill but such a shame as we wouldn’t visit again.

I visited this pub last week and loved the vibe of the place, service was very good!!! I had a burger that was very tasty! They quality of the meat seemed very good, but it kind of lack a bit of salt. Nevertheless, very good!!! My friend had a fish dish that was very very tasty!!! I will come back for sure!!!

We only stopped for a drink. This pub was closed for some time, but reopened and has been sensitively redecorated, retaining the original features and feel of the old building. Service was very pleasant and while we chose to sit n the garden area the atmosphere was pleasantly lively.

One of our favourite venues in the Tunbridge Wells area, excellent quality food and a decent price point. Will definitely be going back in the v. near future.

It was a great place, found along our walk, it was a Sunday and we enjoyed delicious barbecue food and the staff were really friendly and welcoming, I would definitely recommend it.

We visited on a Thursday lunchtime to eat. A very friendly welcome and we were given a choice of tables to sit at. We ordered our drinks, were given menus and told they would bring our drinks to the table. The food menu was excellent and it was difficult to make a choice. We decided to share a starter and they kindly brought two plates. There were three female staff, all dressed neatly in black, who all provided an efficient and friendly service. All of our food was excellent and came promptly. The pub is very interesting with lots of nooks and crannies and a superb great hall above the bar. An extensive patio area to the rear.

The roast was decent, very nice gravy and veg, fortunately some mint sauce was found (a must!). Loved the little bees on the sticky toffee pudding and it tasted really good. Service was fast and friendly.

Stopped into this pleasant pub in the pretty village of Speldhurst while walking the Tunbridge Wells Circular Route from Southborough to Tunbridge Wells. I had a much needed pint of Harvey's Sussex Best after the walk up Speldhurst Hill. I didn't try the food but the menu sounded good. I enjoyed my pint outside in the large courtyard area. Service was friendly. It's well worth popping upstairs in the pub to admire the ceiling, mind your head on the beams though!

After a busy early afternoon, we stopped and had the fish and chips, which were brilliantly cooked, the fish was delicious, chips cooked just right, the sauces and minty pea were just spot on. All in all, it's a fantastic meal to sit and enjoy in your amazing front seating overlooking the church, lovely to unwind on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

A beautiful quaint pub/restaurant with an incredible menu and drink selection. The pub gardens and location of the George and dragon really is what gives this pub the extra edge. Speldhurst is a beautiful and idealistic village in the outskirts of Tunbridge Wells, holding much historical value.

Fish n chips were overcooked and subsequently lack of taste.

What a wonderful Sunday lunch. I can't recommend the George & Dragon enough. Jack and Emily who looked after us were exceptional. A proper pub with proper food. Just right a little bear used to say.

We were just passing by Tunbridge wells and decided to try this pub for dinner. It is a beautiful pub from the Elizabethan style exterior, elegant and cosy British pub interior. The service was efficient and friendly. However, it was the food that could have been improved, the waiter was a bit too efficient and checked back on us too early as I haven't had a chance to try everything I ordered to say if everything was okay. We ordered chunky skin on chips for £4 a portion which was generous in size but was a tad bit too dry which was off putting to eat. The moules starter had promise as it was elegantly presented, generous portion of good quality bread, priced at £9, mussels were fresh but the sauce lacked the flavour you would expect from moules dish so was again felt slightly let down. On the other hand, my friend had sausage and mash which was delicious as they used good quality sausages, the gravy had good flavour to it and a generous portion. So just have to be selective in what you order next time. Overall, it was a lovely pub to visit and seems like a popular one. So unfortunate to mention the food in a critical way but felt like it was important to say.

We managed to get a last minute booking for early Sunday lunch! We sat by the fire, best roast beef I have had in a while, attentive service and fabulous atmosphere! I feel like more and more pubs like this are hard to find! A real gem -1000/10

Highly recommended, service was great with happy staff. Chicken pie and burger were both excellent. We won’t pass without stopping at the George and Dragon again when in the area.

Absolutely unbelievable! Stopped in for lunch after not getting to visit for 20 years, had the most welcoming service in a super cozy atmosphere and sat right by the fireplace. Our meals are going to be hard to beat anywhere else, from the children's mac and cheese, to the lamb pie, to the sticky toffee pudding, everything was delicious. Without a doubt anytime we get to come back to Speldhurst for a visit we will plan a lunch or dinner here. My son said his sticky toffee pudding was a rating of a million out of ten. Well done! Can't say enough about our experience 🥰 thank you!!

A lovely, welcoming, traditional village pub with very friendly staff and a delicious food offering (the mussels were particularly good); better still, they were very welcoming towards our dog too. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back, a great place to rest after walking the local countryside.

Amazing Sunday Roast. I was part of a very large group eating in the medieval barn. Fantastic attentive service. The team of waitresses were outstanding in every respect managing to serve the delicious food speedily and they were so responsive to any requests. Super smiley- all in all a lovely experience. A big thank you to everyone involved.

Rubbish roast dinner, on Sunday late pm, the potatoes were reheated and tasted awful and the balsamic vinegar in red cabbage was way too much that took over the dinner! No parsnip too! I had sticking toffee for pudding was not great and the cheap ice cream topping was watering The waitresses were poor slow service but it was pretty quiet in the restaurant!

Beautiful 13th century building pub that has maintained the original look & feel. The food was amazing (had the porchetta and apple & plum crumble). The fireplaces dotted around the interior are a wonderful piece of ambiance. On top of this the service was incredibly friendly and helpful, they even prepped a surprise sausage for the dog!

Burger tasted like it was made out of an old boot and was so tall it was inedible. Make it taste good before you make it look good.

Visited with my husband, parents and baby for a family dinner while staying in the local area for a wedding. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, food was excellent and atmosphere was great, lively without being crowded. Wish this was our local!! Hope to see G&D team again!

We were called before we arrived to alert us to the fact that there would be a reduced menu, which was very good of them. We still went along and the food was delicious. The staff were equally delightful! Smiley, happy and friendly. It was very quiet, so atmosphere is difficult to gauge!

Love coming here for lunch/dinner and drinks with friends. The live music in garden has been a great touch, the kids love it, the food is excellent and it's always busy. Also just going for a quiet drink with friends for a catchup is also great. The burger we had recently was delicious and a good range of beers on tap.

People need to know about this burger!!! It's hands down the best in Tunbridge Wells, by far! I've been coming to the George for years and feel like now they've nailed the perfect burger (and truffle chips!) Great beer garden too:)

Food and service was good. It was very busy due to late booking for a funeral wake. We had a very enjoyable meal and would visit again.

My son and I repaid a visit we made last year. The menu was excellent and the service excellent and personal. We both enjoyed our meals - 10" Rib-Eye Steak and Haddock and chips with crispy, cider batter.

One of the best pub roasts I’ve had in a long time. Our servers were excellent and friendly, and the food is perfect. Some places can be really hit and miss with their roasts but this was spot on. Loads of gravy, lots of meat and vegetables, really well cooked and a huge Yorkshire to top it off. I’d thoroughly recommend the George and Dragon to everyone - you won’t regret it

First time visiting the G&D and it honestly felt like we had been locals in there for years! We felt so welcomed by our server Tess and Richard. The food was lovely and great value. Will definitely be returning and supporting another beautiful village pub.

This pub is a real gem, lovely inside decor and to match it has a great outside garden. The food has been excellent every-time we have been. The staff are brilliant too.

Went for a drink Tuesday evening. My companion had a burger which was nice although found the £18 a little more expensive than necessary - I’d had a burger the previous evening in Southborough for £18:50, so seems to be the average price around here. I guess times are changing and it will be like going back to the 70’s & 80’s for me - when people only ate out for special occasions. It was enjoyable sitting outside, there are heaters, lights & outdoor speakers. Ideal for plane spotters like me if the planes are inbound to Gatwick flying overhead. Nice staff & atmosphere. Haven’t been for years and I’ll try not to leave it so long next time as it’s very pleasant.

We had a celebration dinner for 20 people last night and the G&D were exemplary!! The food was absolutely delicious, the staff couldn’t have done more and our night was perfect. We were reserved an area outside for drinks then went upstairs to a private area for dinner. The table looked gorgeous. Thank you to all the staff who made our night perfect!

This is one of the best pubs I randomly popped in. We had a day of climbing in Harrison’s Rocks and having a dinner in the pub was the great ending of the day. Delicious starter, main dish and dessert, reasonably sized and very filling. Friendly staff and serving was prompt. Will definitely come for a dinner again when back in the area.

We dropped in for lunch. It’s a lovely old pub, loads of character. We both really enjoyed the food, the beer was good, there was a lovely warm welcome and we sat in the sunny garden with our dog. What could beat all that?

We booked the George and Dragon for a Christmas lunch after having come here once for the most delicious Sunday roast. Our 2 year old son woke up on Christmas morning vomiting which led us to having to cancel our trip from London to the George and Dragon. Richard, the manager, could not have been more incredible. He offered us a refund or voucher to return which we did so this weekend and I cannot fault the food and incredible staff here. It really is top quality. Everything from the produce, the exceptional cuisine and attention to detail on everything from decor to customer experience. Despite coming with two toddlers, the staff did not bat an eyelid at the spills and mess caused and did everything in their power to give us an incredible day. If you are wondering whether to go to the pub or not JUST GO. You won't regret it! It's one of the special places you will return to again and again.

Had our first pub meal as a married couple here. Food was extraordinary! Very large servings that I was stuffed and my partner couldn't finish hers, but the quality was immense. We went for the vegetarian roast with cauliflower cheese and the fish and chips. Highly recommended. Only annoyance was lack of parking, but the staff opened up another parking spot for us, so no big deal.

Incredibly nice staff, super welcoming and efficient. The menu was outstanding and interesting - not pretentious. Calamari was crisp and tasty and then the Porterhouse steak was fabulous. Enormous and juicy with 2 sauces and delicious crispy chips . A really gorgeous setting in an ancient pub. The toilets were fresh and chic. We were all really impressed and even my dog lived it and was treated to a gravy bone biscuit too. I can’t recommend enough!
