The Lodge @ Taywell Cafe in Tunbridge Wells

bit disappointing, cheese and onion chutney toastie sadly lacking. mediocre bread, small amount of tasteless cheese, more chutney than anything. would prefer to do without crisps token salad and coleslaw and have a proper toastie with plenty of cheese that actually tastes of something. cafe was clean and cosy and staff friendly.

Lovely setting and tasty food, but really let down by staff who were sullen and made us feel very unwelcome. Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

Came for breakfast which was tasty but not the size of portions that I expected. A bacon sandwich - 2 slices of white bread with only 2 slices of bacon seems paltry! Also the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs was a very small portion garnished with a lot of rocket and balsamic glaze. Underwhelming I’m afraid. Even the coffee wasn’t good the morning we came and that’s usually excellent!

Wonderful Breakfast and Coffee here! Such wonderful staff (especially Sam!), couldn't do enough for our young family. Really cosy and welcoming place.

I always come here when I want to eat out for breakfast! It always tastes so fresh and I think they do the best hollandaise sauce!

Amazing brunch! Found this place by accident as just passing but what a find. The best poached eggs (perfectly cooked) on smashed avo (loads of it) on delicious sour dough. my son had pancakes with bacon (extra crispy as requested) and there was a huge stack for him to eat. Lovely staff, couldn't fault it, highly recommend 5* from our family

This was a fabulous café in the heart of the countryside with a fantastic view over the Kent Weald. I wish I had taken a picture of the food and even more I wish I had taken a picture of the next door tables food. (But that is a bit rude) We had utterly utterly gorgeous smashed avacado and egg on sour dough and a bacon sandwich on beautiful bread. It tasted amazing and we really enjoyed the food that was served. We also had a pot of lovely tea which came with pretty china cups and saucers. The next door table had brunch and they had scrabled eggs and smoked salmon on toast and it was a very generous helping of both sections. Ours wasn't short on generosity. Looking in the cabinet were beautiful sausage rolls and quiches as well. The cakes are all home made and looked really nice but we knew were going home for dinner that evening, so we didn't have any but they were tempting. Even better about this café is that as much as is possible is sourced from local products, so the food mileage is low. Go and explore the farm shop. We can't wait to go back and try some more things. I should also say, what a lovely lovely team of staff they had there, all smiling and kind, helpful and knowledgeable about all the products. You would not regret a visit here.

Such a lovely cafe, wonderful food, lovely staff, fabulous location. Sadly, unable to give a better rating due to the awful grubby toilet. It breaks my heart to see a lovely business like this let down by something so easy to put right.

Easy parking, lovely, clean and airy cafe with open plan kitchen. The staff are friendly but seemed stressed on this occasion. The coffee and hot chocolate were not particularly hot . Would return though! Lovely farm shop with lovely staff.

Lovely people and an absolutely amazing top notch breakfast all cooked from local produce. If you are a foodie The Lodge will not disappoint. Oh and Chester and Stanley the company hounds are a delight. We will be back!! Thanks team!

I have stopped by here over the past year while out cycling but usually for coffee and only outside. In the restaurant today for a light lunch and what a delight this was. Clean and fresh with stunning prints on the walks we really could relax here. Our fresh and substantial food was very tasty and served very promptly. We were later able to but a lot of the local produce from the farm shop which was a delight. A little quiet as it is Christmas Eve, Eve but that added to the experience. With very competitive pricing this place was a delight and, in the words of Arnie, I’ll be back.

A lovely, airy, welcoming cafe with very friendly staff who will do everything they can to make sure you get what you want. We only called in for a coffee (which, which along with teas and cakes, is served from 08.30 ti 14.30) but breakfast is served from 08'30 to 11.30, lunch from 12.00 to 14.00. Our coffee was freshly made and was very good. This was our first visit but I have no doubt we will be back.
