As always, the food part of lunch at the Estate Grill was superb. However the service was absolutely shocking and let down the whole experience. On arrival, there weren’t enough menus for our party and no children’s menu was provided for my son. I resorted to using the online version of the children’s menu, which later transpired to be out of date and what my son wanted to order wasn’t available. We ordered bread for the table and crudités for my son which then arrived with the main meal. Not ideal. I can’t though fault the food at all - delicious as always. On finishing our meal, we then had to wait nearly an hour for the table to be cleared. We had asked for desert menus and when these hadn’t arrived after 30 minutes, I went to request them and for our table to be cleared (we were outside so were starting to be bothered by flies and wasps on the dirty plates). When we arrived, the table next to us was being used by a wedding party for drinks. They left shortly after we arrived and the table remained uncleared the entire time we were there. We were celebrating a birthday, indicated on the booking, and no acknowledgement was made of this. It honestly feels like every time we come to Great Fosters now, there is a problem. It’s really quite embarrassing for the hotel, which used to be spectacular and which we have been visiting (including hosting our wedding reception) for almost 20 years. The new owners need to have a rethink of their service model because what we experienced today was not a premium level of service and we will seriously think twice about booking again.

I really can only say good things about Charlie's food, perfect timing and left our kitchen and everything used cleaner than when he arrived! (To be clear, Marriotts come to you, it's not a restaurant...)

Definitely do not recommend if you are coeliac or allergic to wheat. The staff weren’t very knowledgeable and falsely informed me that a separate oven was used for the gluten free pizza and that there was no cross contamination. I later went into anaphylactic shock and then was vomiting for hours..

Really poor experience. Ended up coming here from The Cliff and it’s always been a really great experience. A lady at the door told us that there was another bar open which I didn’t hear so I confirmed with the lady who then became verbally abusive when I said “thank you”. She then had her cronies follow me and my party to where they recommended which was Annie’s Attic. I actually really like this bar but I’m not coming back because of the issues presented. I and we have been coming here for years, not any more. Contact us to change our mind? Or not, thanks. Rude? Yes she was. Confrontational? Yes she was. Horrid in terms of customer service? Yes she was. Bye.

Honestly, I'm not sure why there's so many negative reviews for this place (at least based on my experience). It was very busy so I was expecting to wait a long time for food. Within 2 minutes I had my food and it was both fresh and hot. The price is reasonable too when you compare it to the £9 hot dog sold by Thorpe Park directly across from this place. The atmosphere is also good when you consider it's a KFC, the decor ties in with the theme of the area, and the restaurant was also very clean with staff consistently cleaning tables after people left. This is great compared to the Burger King at the same park, which had cold food and filthy tables. In conclusion, it's a decent place to eat if you're hungry at Thorpe Park.
