A place conducive to a change of scenery, relaxation but also ideal for seminars. Magnificent interiors and gardens

It’s a bit overhyped. You better hope you have a room with nobody above you as as well. The grounds are beautiful though and the service was great.

Not what it was. Visited with my friend for afternoon tea. Service was slow and inattentive. Tea brought without milk, took 10 mins for it to come to the table. Asked for a plain scone instead of fruit, told may not be possible (when it has never been an issue before) but she would check. 15 minutes later tried to catch her attention to ask if she had checked. She thought her colleague had brought it over, she said. Not once were we approached to ask if we needed anything, you now, like a fresh pot of tea because our first pot had gone cold. Asked for another set of sandwiches, they now charge £6 for this. They used to top you up for free. Basically what you get on your plates now is all you will get, so if you haven’t visited in some time don’t expect they will come around with a tray and tongs looking to refill your plates like they used to, because they won’t! Service & staffing has slipped and we left feeling very dissatisfied. Have visited many times pre these changes and have recommended to countless friends. Sad to say won’t be in a hurry to return.

Unfortunately, our experience at the Great Fosters hotel fell short of expectations. Right from the start, we encountered issues with the service. The front desk staff came across as impolite when we inquired about our room's readiness upon arrival. This lack of professionalism set an unwelcoming tone. The problems continued during our meals. At lunch, we were dismayed to find that the fish dish was severely undercooked and nearly raw. While mistakes can happen, the staff seemed ill-equipped to handle the situation, appearing flustered and unsure of how to rectify the error. Many of the service staff also struck us as quite young and potentially lacking sufficient training or experience for a hotel promoted as luxurious. Adding to the disappointment was the apparent absence of management oversight. We struggled to find any supervisory presence to address our concerns effectively. Even simple requests, like obtaining poolside service, required multiple trips inside to seek assistance from staff, disrupting our ability to relax. The breakfast spread also left much to be desired. Rather than an impressive selection befitting a 5-star property, we were presented with a meager offering of what appeared to be basic croissants, likely sourced from an ordinary grocery store. This lacklustre meal did little to salvage our overall experience. While the Great Fosters hotel may be marketed as a 5-star establishment, our stay felt more akin to a 3-star rating based on the lack of attentive service, operational missteps, and uninspired dining options. Regrettably, our time there failed to meet the standards of luxury one would reasonably expect from the advertised calibre of the hotel.

We had dinner in Great Foster’s one evening in early May. Couldn’t afford the Michelin one to be honest so went for the Estate Grill restaurant. It was impeccable! Although we were one of only 3 tables I believe. Not full or busy. So we had a great experience with the staff there. I think some were training but it was all good. People got to start somewhere right? And they were all very kind, attentive without being intrusive. Proper silver service! And the manager, Daniel is superb!! Can’t fault the service. The food was so delicious as well. Can’t choose a favourite because they were all equally excellent! It was a special night out for my son and they accommodated us which is much much appreciated. We would definitely come back again. It is so thoroughly recommended. Thank you for the great service and food. Well worth the money.

For a hotel charging that amount of money, not having climate controls in the rooms is atrocious. It was 19 degrees outside when I stayed. The room was more like 30. Couldn’t sleep. Shame, it’s a nice venue otherwise.

Booking made 6 weeks in advance and yet table not available until 30mins after our arrival. Management unapologetic, which was a shame, and comms were somewhat shambolic between staff. Even denied our booking at one point. Some staff were charming, and cakes were fresh. Sandwich bread was dry, but tasty. Teapots are good, although one was missing the spiral tea leaf catcher in its spout, but the design means the tea stews and becomes bitter very quickly. Nice venue but a real shame about their welcome.

We had two nights at the Great Fosters. Great historical building with some very nice rooms. We got to stay at the Italian suite which was one of the nicest (and weirdest) rooms I've ever stayed in. Felt like a king. Strongly recommended for a British experience. Great service from Jake at the bar and Emma (and everyone else) at the reception. Pros: Warmed pool and jacuzzi were very nice - even in the rain. Great garden Well kept rooms Historical Good service Cons: Food at the bar was worse than average and the other restaurant (not the Michelin one) was okay but was expecting more for the price.

Appalling slow service. 45min wait for starters at the restaurant. We have up after the main course, having been at the table for 2 and a half hours. Strongly discourage anyone who values their time from coming here.

From the moment we walked through the front door the welcome was friendly and consistent throughout our stay. The staff clearly take pride in and enjoy their customer care. Room service was also efficient. Valentino was an exceptional host in the stunning Estate grill restaurant and elevated our experience with a wonderful history of valentines day and how people in the old days where forbidden to love.

Last week a friend, who lives in Windsor she suggested having a coffee and pastry at Great Fosters while I was in town, delighted to have had the opportunity to see this magical place. Please stay or stop by. Great Fosters, a five-star hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant, offers a treat for all five senses. Nestled within its Tudor estate are incredible gardens that captivate visitors with their horticultural splendor. Meticulously shaped garden hedges resemble works of art, while the presence of a Saxon moat serves as a poignant reminder of the historical significance of this grand home. Additionally, the gardens reveal other well-preserved and unexpected gems, further enhancing the charm and allure of this remarkable destination. Whether indulging in a cup of coffee or tea or booking one of their amazing rooms, the experience at Great Fosters is sure to delight. Thanks for the recommendation Amy!

Decided to try flaming grill in chertsey while visiting the area for work. Firstly 5 star food hygiene rating, holding the bar high as it should be guys. I ordered a small chicken shish kebab, all salad with chilli and garlic mayo. The kebab itself wasn’t my personal preference but that is not to say it was bad because it wasn’t, the chicken was cooked beautifully and had a lovely chargrill taste and marinade. My only real criticism is that my request was not really listed to properly even when writing it down. I asked for lots ( extra ) cabbage and 🌶️ and also lots of garlic mayo and chilli sauce and as you can see from the photo this didn’t happen. People specifically ask for their kebabs in a particular way because it’s what makes it perfect for them and keeps them coming back time after time, something to bear in mind guys. Overall a great kebab shop and nice and clean 👍🏻

I popped in because I used to work there 40 years ago. I had a glass of wine, asked for ladies which turned out to be where the kitchen was when I was cook. The bar person was very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend, looks like they have local regulars still.
