The best restaurants in Holywell, St Mary's Oxford South East

Arbequina came highly recommend so booked a table for our Valentines meal - surpassed expectations! The romesco & crispy egg dish was a firm favourite - probably the best egg I’ve ever eaten in my life, perfectly soft boiled, crispy & beautifully seasoned. Our waitress Sally was super friendly too, I mentioned I’d never tried orange wine before and she fetched me the glass I picked out plus a couple of others to try in case I wasn’t a fan. Gave us some great recommendations for where to head for drinks next too. Lots of great vegetarian options, a real hidden gem!

One of the best Chinese in Oxford.

I come from a place with a lot of boba tea stores, so i have high standards for fruit teas & milk teas. It’s okay to try out, just don’t compare it to other stores in Asian towns so that you won’t be disappointed. It’s like a typical Asian drink but targeting non-Asian people, so tastes and flavors are not the same.

Good Shisha, comfortable seating. Music isn’t too loud. Everyone there came to chill and have a smoke.

One of our go-to places on Cowley road! A friend recommended this place and we’ve been coming here ever since. The food is super affordable, delicious, with plenty of options and generous portions. The staff are always lovely and welcoming. A must-visit!

Lovely cosy atmosphere for an Eid get together xx

A cosy, busy little tapas restaurant, with a vibrant atmosphere. Service struggled to manage demand in timely manner. Good range of tapas, unfortunately two key ‘warm tapas’ not available at the time of our visit. Chicken tapas, and chickpea & spinach dishes were both original & excellent. Unfortunately whitebait with chips, and calamari were unnecessarily over seasoned with salt. Wine by the glass limited to house wine only; could benefit from a better choice by the glass, carafe or half carafe. Staff receptive to the feedback. This is a place with appeal and worth a visit.

Have been to this place twice now. The food is really amazing and the atmosphere is great as well but the only weak point is their service. I think the staff needs a better way of communicating with the kitchen, each other and the table. It can get busy and hectic but I did find the interaction between staff and customers bordering on rude at some points. I can't fault the food though.. it was really really good.

I stayed in the area 4 days. Ate here 6 times 😁😁 Burgers, the pizza, the chicken sandwich all were amazing!!! the avocado chilli toast on Saturday soo good, lemon toast was a twist. David was super kind and gave us recommendations for sightseeing.

The bar staff tonight were absolutely lovely and the prices were really reasonable for Oxford. But the main thing that motivated me to write this review was the staff. There were some rude guys being homophobic and the staff shut them down without being confrontational. Handled the situation so professionally. Brilliant.

Pub with a good atmosphere, it has a cool terrace at the back and both sports days and quiz Thursdays Very good site I also know they have pizzas available.

Delicious and imaginative food and drink and attentive service. Interesting art on the walls. Don't go if you are hard of hearing, though, as the stone floors re-echo the noise of a crowded restaurant.

This place is amazing,I had the Shroom burger and it's served with so many fries even I (who can eat A LOT) couldn't finish! It's a lovely little place and the staff was very nice!

Love the hospitality in this place.. such warm people and lovely service.. we celebrated a friends 40th and they were just on point.. the food was fabulous and the staff were so kind to do some banner and balloon decorations.. love this place and cannot wait to get back with my girls..!
