Nice small business in Cowley Road. We normally order online but happened we preferred eating out. We were pleased to see it was dog friendly. It was very clean and cozy. The staff were lovely to us and the doggo! The food, especially the aubergine tofu, was v yum!

Had tofu and aubergine stir fry and veg ho fun. Quite disappointed, one of the greasiest meals I've ever had and there was a pool of oil left in my bowl when I'd finished.

According to the rubbish innovation left, I am from Oxford, and the Chinese food is unpalatable. The roast duck is soaked in a lot of sauce and is not crispy and dead. The fish boiled in salt water is fried in a pile of rubbish fish. It has no fish taste and no bite at all. I know that my food is tight, but it’s so juicy, not spicy, not numb, and I’ll tell you at a glance that I don’t know a word about cooking, right?

Delicious and authentic Chinese food cooked by the restaurant owners. Highly recommended for interesting and unusual dishes, plus some of the classic Chinese dishes.

I’ve ordered from Sir Sun’s Wok a few times now and I’ve been very pleased each time. The portions are very generous, there is a wide range of vegetarian-friendly dishes, and the flavours are excellent. Also quite budget-friendly, and I’ve always received complementary crackers on the side. You can tell they care about their business and their customers :)

We booked this place for four people on the 8th July. We have eaten here before, and the food was fantastic once again. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the efficientcie for which our food was served was amazing. They are able to cater for dairy, egg, and gluten free diets as well. The food is fresh, delicious, and very colourful!. Thank you for an amazing evening!

Nice Chinese food and fair price.

1 of our 3 dishes was fine (roast duck), the other 3 totally disappointing, bland and overly greasy. I was looking forward to Sichuanese specials of ma po tofu and spicy aubergines, but the dishes we got were almost bland and had zero Sichuanese pepper in them. The aubergines were coated in thick starch, and both dishes were filled with other veg (sliced carrot, mushroom, pepper), which I wasn't expecting (never had it in these dishes in other restaurants and never seen in recipes). These additions and the bland flavouring resulted in poor versions of these Sichuanese classics. Disappointing. I was looking forward to that famous Sichuanese pepper zing and chilli heat. I even asked for it specifically, but didn't get it. I probably won't order here again.

Delicious sweet and sour chicken, black bean beef was good and boiled rice was lush too!!!!

Unfortunately, apart from the food I did not have a very good experience at this restaurant. While I was sat eating, I saw a Deliveroo rider come in and ask to use the toilet, while he waited for his order to be ready. The staff refused to let him use the toilet because he wasn’t a customer there. I found that extremely rude and disrespectful with the rider, as he is also a human being and has these types of needs while picking up orders and waiting outside.

I placed an order over the phone and when I arrived to collect the staff treated me badly because I entered the restaurant soaking wet and entered the restaurant, I think you could improve the service because I was embarrassed when she asked me to wait outside

Amazing dim sum and duck pancakes! Great service and value for money

Food is in general good and value for money, but if you are looking for a place to dine in and enjoy the food, you will get disappointed. Deliveroo and just eat raiders come in and out all the time and stand just a step away from tables, complaining if the food is not ready yet.

Tasteless and rough food. Very wired taste for the vegetables. The fish was coated with thick starch and poor amount of food. Ordered fried chicken with chilli, the fish was full of chilli and around 6 pieces tiny chicken wings. Avoid this restaurant.

Friendly staff clean restaurant

We ordered through Deliveroo and the food still got here absolutely piping hot, and delicious. We ordered vegetarian and meat dishes and a couple different soups. Nothing was too greasy, the rice was good texture, so many choices are on the menu, and we would definitely order here again.

Definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants in Oxford. It has very big menu offering dishes of northern China. Some of the lamb dishes they offer is peculiar to N China. It is quite clean and it’s a family run restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful. We once ordered 200 gyoza and they prepared it methodically. Thumbs up

Really great food! Fresh, hot and delicious. Best Chinese food I’ve had. Not too greasy, and plenty of veggie options for myself 😊. The whole family was very happy with their meals. We live next door and will definitely be eating from here again. Staff are super friendly too!

If you enjoy really good Chinese food do not use this restaurant it is for people who don’t understand food. I ordered a quarter duck, came pre ~ shredded into the tiniest piece so the duck is dry as f and The skin is soggy from the steam whilst in the container, why would any chef shred duck like this, the duck sauce is overly sweet and thick. Ordered chicken and mushroom soup got chicken and mushroom in some gravy. I repeated my order many times. I also ordered king prawn chow main, really standard nothing great but better that the other stuff. Dissatisfied feelings sick will never order again a waste of money. I can definitely do a better job at home.

My boyfriend and I discovered this place whilst walking around. It was such a gem! Prices are alright, portions are generous, food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. Would definitely be going back again!

I ordered take out and it was great! The veggie fried rice was my favorite - amazing! The orange chicken was okay, I probably would not order it again. I will try something else next time.

Came for a later dinner on a sunday. Lady at the front was very welcoming and gave me 2 menus, the takeaway menu which has all of the standard uk dishes + some traditional chinese dishes and she also gave me a proper a la carte kind of menu which had photos etc. The a la carte menu had loads of traditional chinese food so it was nice to have the choice. I opted for the beef chow fun which was really tasty and came quickly. £10 with a drink so definitely cant complain

Very good value for money. Nothing spectacular but not bad. When all food displays and the daily reader board are in Chinese, that’s a good omen. Clients also predominantly Asian.

Some really tasty dim sum delivered on Just Eat. I had the Char Siu Buns (3) (pork filled bao buns), Chinese Milk Bun (4) (bao buns filled with a sweet pudding-like paste), Shanghai Dumplings (4) (pork dumplings) and egg fried rice. The dim sum was really tasty. It came with two soy sauce and prawn crackers. I did find the egg fried rice a little greasy though. Really good!

The food is delicious,the portions are generous and the staff are really friendly and welcoming.We ordered pork and chive dumplings, seafood soup and Chicken noodle soup and every dish was really tasty.It was ready quickly too.We will definitely eat here again.😋

The restaurant looks lovely, clean, bright and welcoming, but we've only been to collect takeaway. It's our new favourite Chinese, with not too much msg, and well flavoured food. Some lovely veggie dishes, especially involving aubergines, plus some more authentic sounding things involving tripe that I'm not brave enough to try!

Keep jogging past + thought I'd get Tier 4 takeout. 10% off on their website + fairly simple ordering process. Don't seem to have a veggie menu per se, but was able to find what I wanted. Vegetable Spring Rolls were tasty, as well as the Mushroom fried rice and the Prawn crackers (normally there's tons of these, but this was the right amount). Chili chips were excellent and the Chinese Plum Juice was sweet and lovely. 😋 Overall: fairly standard as veggie meals go, although was reliably tasty + filling. I'm sure their non-veggie stuff is far better as the menu was focussed on that.

Ignores dietary requirements and gets orders wrong. Avoid like the plague if you are vegan or vegetarian. Try Oriental Express as they are much better.

The food is really great and doesn't come with that feeling that you are going to regret this that some chinese food can. They do the standard Anglo-Chinese dishes well but they also have some authentic Chinese dishes that are great. On top of that the owner is an absolutely lovely lady so you always leave with your takeaway and a smile.

As a VEGETARIAN who used to eat meat, I've always felt left out when eating at Chinese restaurants, rarely or ever experiencing the richness, care and variety of meat-based dishes... until I discovered SIR SUN'S WOK <3 <3 what an amazing place, such delicious vegetable main dishes, rich and complex in flavour, crispy bright veggies and super–super tasty. Favourites are Szechuan Aubergine (number one!) and the Tofu with pepers and black bean sauce. Also their Mapo Tofu is delicious, nicely spicy and last but not least they serve the best vegetable fried rice I've ever had! Cannot recommend this place enough.

The worst service ever! We went there second time and we wait for half an hour to order food. They were trying to ignore me several times when people come in to order take away they served them immediately and don’t pay attention to customer who already sit there and wait for half an hour.

Authentic no frills Chinese food. A dining experience not to be missed

Almost certainly the best Chinese restaurant in Oxford (tied with taste of China, but a very different kind of place), and frankly one of the best Oxford restaurants full stop. Food is widely varied & yet everything is pitch perfect in taste & presentation. Bring a crowd to take advantage of larger family style dishes from spicy/numbing (but balanced) meats, to delicious greens & charcoal grilled skewers. Service is helpful, friendly, and far above Oxford restaurant standard for knowledge, warmth & efficiency. Prices could probably be 10% higher and still feel like good value. They know exactly what they're doing & do it well.

Holy hell. I've lived in Oxford for about two years and I can't believe I haven't come here before! Sir Sun's has immediately become my favourite place to eat in Oxford. The food is perfect and authentic Chinese. We had spicy aubergine, pork belly and potatoes, and noodles with mince, and all three dishes were different and perfect. Very reasonably priced and good portions. You need to eat here!

This was a really bad takeaway, I had to throw it all away after only one bite. I ordered stale prawn crackers, gone off soggy crispy beef and soup. It all tasted stale and gone off. I believe the hygiene rating is rated 3.

Currently the best Chinese restaurant in Oxford. The decor is underwhelming and suggests the usual standard of take away food adulterated to the lowest common denominator. What a delicious surprise when the dishes arrived. Delicate flavours perfectly balanced. Each order beautifully cooked. The menu is wonderfully expansive. Vegetarian options alone to feast on for a week. This is well worth the trek down Cowley Road. Hurry!

We placed an order through the website after seeing it had very good reviews. We hadn't heard anything for an hour, so called to see where our order was. They said that they hadn't seen the message and would start cooking the food then, meaning another 40 minute wait. When we asked about a refund she said that her manager would call us back. We are now short of money and short of food! Update: management got in touch to apologise and they have issued a full refund.

It pains me to give this place an be star! Yesterday all I ate was 2 bagels and a take away from this place. I’ve been ill all night!! Throwing up and my stomach in excruciating pain... I could be wrong but don’t think it was the bagels! Would not go here again if you paid me!!

We had an event but needed to have dinner before. Was passing by and we liked the menu. Went to withdrawn some cash - it is a Cash Only restaurant - and went for what become a very good evening. We ordered Pork & Prawn Sui Mai, Whole Prawns (Head On) with Peppers in Cast Pot and egg fried rice. A Tsing Tao beer and a Jasmine Tea. The Sui Mai was perfect, hot and tasted lovely. The Whole Prawns were amazing. I wasn't expecting this, to be honest. Very good flavours, perfectly cooked, we were amazed. We paid around £30 for this and will definitely come back to taste more of this lovely cuisine. The service was very good with the lady receiving us with a big smile, and the service was always very correct (not fast, but authentic).

The place is amazing, is the best for Chinese food in all oxford, it's the most real one. The stuff is really nice and we had everything very quickly! I really reccomend that place!

Decided to try this Chinese for a takeaway. Rang my order through and said I would collect. 20 minutes later I arrived and the service was friendly and efficient. Food already waiting for me and a 10% discount for collection. I had a wonton soup, Duck dish and mushroom rice. All was delicious and the Duck (my favourite) was moist and flavoursome. Good value for money as well. Will definitely use this as my regular takeaway.

Very poor, no taste to the food at all told the real chef not working tonight can replace all my order tomorrow!! No thanks I had a full refund. We have used this restaurant since they open but tonight was disgusting. burnt chip, no chillies in the Singapore chow main and tinned mushrooms total disappointment. You have lost a very loyal customer tonight.

I will go back to this place because something is telling me that I choose the wrong dish: it was a sea bass I did not like it there was more sauce, and veg than fish. The skewers though were really good and tasty so I will give it another try as it is I’m sure it was just a bad dish choice from our part I will try a different one next time. The waiter was clearly new in this type of job so I will give him more time too. The presentation could be better too.

We tried it yesterday for the first time. We had Chinese style roasted duck, cumin beef and some skewers (lamb and chicken). It was all delicious, and the price was good too. Would recommend.

This is an informal and friendly Chinese restaurant with a good menu, combining old favourites with more unusual dishes. We found the waitress very helpful in choosing our dishes, and the food came pretty quick. They have soft drinks and some Chinese beer.

Really wonderful gem of a Chinese joint in East Oxford. The Taiwan beef noodle soup had melt in the mouth beef and was extremely flavoursome throughout. My friend had the tintanmen which was also exquisite. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and all in a fresh and relaxing environment make this a must for anyone who wants a real chinese in Oxford.

I've been getting takeaway from this place nearly every day for approx 2 weeks and most of their dishes are pretty good (apart from the Thai beef curry which is not too amazing). The portions and prices are very honest and the shop owners are very friendly.

I can barely belief my luck. This restaurant opened up at the end of my road a few weeks ago. I like Chinese food a lot and have tasted it around the world but this place is the very best of them all without doubt. I've been 4 times already and every time it was just amazing. Don't take my word for it though. 20% off collections at the moment so great value as well. Soooo good! I'll be going 2 or 3 times a week while I am in Oxford. The specials are Orange Chicken, Roast Duck and Soup but every dish has been fantastic.
