Banana Tree Oxford in Oxford

We loved our experience at Banana Tree Oxford. We went there as a vegan group, 11 people. All of us enjoyed the food, there were lots of vegan options and they were delicious. I especially recommend vegan satay sticks. The service was great and Mansi were very attentive and friendly. The venue had a good design and it was spacious. Thank you!!

We had a very nice experience at Banana Tree. Lovely Asian taste with coconut milk and variety of vegetarian options. Staff is nice and Mansi was one of nice member served us.

It was a really lovely dinner experience. The food was delicious and a very generous portion for the price asked. We had veg gyozas which were fresh and tasty followed by two different noodle / pad tahi dishes. All was perfect. Both members of the team who looked after us were brilliant, Mansi could not have done more to make us feel welcome :) would highly recommend to others and will be visiting again!

We came at a late time but they welcomed us! The food was delicious and our server Mansi was incredibly helpful and went out of her way to accommodate our needs. Thanks to her!

The food was very nice particularly the laksa spicy sauce and Mansi was a wonderful light of the day :-) she was very kind and welcomed us even though we were late to come into the restaurant. She was very helpful and gave us valuable recommendations and superb service.

Francisco our waiter was lovely and really attentive. The food was delicious aswell.

The food is good, but the service needs improvement. We tried the laksa and loved it, so we went back the next day. However, the laksa had fewer ingredients, and the chicken tasted different, possibly not as fresh and not prepared same as the previous day. I mentioned that the dried tofu was missing, and they brought it, but something else was lacking. It’s frustrating that there’s no standardization, and it seems like the staff, whether cooking or serving, doesn’t check the quality of their work.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. This was our second visit to Banana Tree and it surpassed our first. We chose different menu items for dinner from the previous visit where we had lunch choices. We really enjoyed the food and experience. Francisco was really helpful and efficient as were the rest if the staff despite it being very busy. Will definitely return. Thank you.

Raw chicken served here - be careful. My partner and I ordered Indonesian chicken and rice. Some of the chicken, the thinner pieces, were fine. Then I cut into a thicker piece and found it was raw, pink in the middle and slimey rather than opaque. My partner, a medical doctor, agreed it was raw and spoke to a waitress to say it was undercooked. She said: "How cooked would you like it?" He said, "Cooked", so she took my whole plate away, including all the rice and salad, and disappeared to the kitchen. My partner then cut another piece of his chicken, again a thicker piece, and found that this was completely raw and slimey inside. He asked for the manager who came over, took our emails, phone numbers, and names, didn't apologise once, though did offer us other food. We declined as we had lost faith in the cooking process. So far, we've not developed salmonella. Neither have we received any communication, no apology, no expression of concern, from Banana Tree. It seems that knowledge of the basics of safe cookery and also of decent customer service are completely absent here.

I had an extremely disappointing and disheartening experience at this restaurant today, one that left me feeling deeply unwelcome and disrespected. Despite the restaurant being busy, the stark difference in the treatment I received compared to other diners was appalling. From the very beginning, I had to wait a considerable amount of time just to get the menu card. To add to this, I had to specifically request the drinks menu, while I noticed other customers were served promptly without needing to ask. This blatant disregard felt like nothing short of racism, as I was clearly singled out as a foreigner. After my meal, I waited an unreasonable amount of time to pay the bill. No one even bothered to acknowledge me until I managed to flag down a staff member who was taking orders at an adjacent table. She curtly asked me to pay via a QR code on the table. To my surprise, I observed the same staff personally bringing a payment machine to other tables for their convenience. Why was I treated differently? When I tried to pay online, the system showed an error. Once again, I had to struggle to get anyone’s attention. Frustrated, I walked to their counter to report the issue, only to be met with more indifference. After another long wait, they finally brought out the payment machine for me. The double standards in service at this so-called well-established restaurant are utterly unacceptable. Their behavior was discriminatory and left me feeling humiliated. It is unimaginable that such treatment would occur in a professional establishment. If Google allowed zero stars, I wouldn’t hesitate to give them that rating. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had, and I strongly urge others to think twice before visiting this place.

Went to Banana Tree for my office christmas dinner. Was impressed with the food and service. Ordered festive platter having 3 course meal. The dessert given to us was chocolate fudge, but it was actually a carrot cake that was frozen, and we had to make a lot of effort to scoop it with our spoon as it was so hard. The starters were really nice, we had a platter with dimsums, spring rools, and fritters, which tasted really good. For mains, we had lumak curry with rice, which was a kind of fake meat. I limed the gravy, but it could be more. Overall, it was a good experience except the desserts.

Food is nice. The atmosphere is nice too. But i think they re lack of staff. We wait more than half an hour for our starter. And another 15 mins from our starter finished to the main meal. There is promotion of mocktail pay 1 for 2, but we need to order same thing. We were visiting Oxford to travel, with the waiting time, we d like to take advantage also to charge our phone. But this was not available. (Then, at least they need to be quick?!) After main, we preferred not to wait more for the dessert ! Later, we might search for other option.

I enjoy teriyaki salmon with rice; it’s such a delightful dish! Pad Thai is also a wonderful choice. I appreciate Anna’s service; she genuinely adds to the experience.

Chicken ramen had a weird smell, broth was very watery and very basic. Pad Thai was okay. Wouldn’t recommend this place. After complaining about the ramen, they gave a £7 off on the whole meal. (Not sure what that was supposed to mean)

Lunch stop during a day out in Oxford with the family, this is a really interesting restaurant with a mixed of Asian style food. There is great selection of good choices with some set meals available as well

We had a great meal at the ‘Banana Tree’. The food was very tasty and the portions of the main were big and filling. There is also a menu for kids with the food that they are most likely going to enjoy it.

Myself and my friend visited Banana Tree today. She has been a few times before but it was my first time. I was very impressed and will definitely be returning! The food was 10/10. It came out so quickly too which we were really impressed with. Martina served us throughout. She was so lovely and her service was amazing. It was very busy and she was manning quite a few tables but her service was still outstanding. Very impressed- well done Martina 😊

We had the best time at Banana tree. The food is delicious and very flavourful. And this coming from an Indian who is obsessed with food. Francisco was our amazing host. I had the bang bang broccoli, and Singapore laksa. And omg their cocktails were to die for. I had a pina colada but I loved their lychee mojito so much more.

I was disgusted with my visit . It took more than 10 minutes before a server came to even ask if I would like a drink. When they did come to take my order the server refused to check allergen information with the kitchen as I am allergic to an allergen not on the statutory list. They refused to serve me, so I left.

Francisco was incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome. We ordered the ramen. The ramen was good, but it didn’t have that freshly-made, artisan quality I was hoping for. The boiled egg could have been a bit softer, but that’s just a personal preference.

The food is very delicious. The atmosphere good. Average staff/service. We were missing cutlery and napkins. There were many of us at the table, and due to the structure of the seats (which was a bench for 6 people), we couldn't leave the table properly, and we had to keep calling the waiters all the time because we were missing things. Several times they took our plates away without asking if we were finished.

Went on a late Sunday night, one vegan one omnivore. Lychee cooler, vegan satay skewers and penang curry to die for, service friendly and not too crowded.

Everything here was fantastic. Linda was an amazing server and really took care of us. The foods and drinks were absolute perfection and it was great value for money. I would highly recommend this watery if you're looking for an authentic south east Asian food experience.
