Small, somewhat busy business. The staff is still learning a bit, I wiped the table myself, then they brought the cutlery twice, but they are trying. The food is a bit different from the classic Indian cuisine, but it's certainly interesting to explore slightly different directions, in this case I mean the origin of South India. The prices are reasonable, so if you don't mind a little cramped spaces and a higher noise level, it's definitely a nice experience.

The food is very amazing, owner is too good and understand the taste of customer. I would love to go next time. Moreover, I will never say "No" to Tribe's food.

The best curry I have had on Cowley Road. Absolutely delicious! Everything is freshly made, so takes time to prepare but it's well worth the wait.

Delicious food, fresh and hot. Service was quite slow because the restaurant was so busy - but this was only a testament to how lovely the food was.

Booked a table for 5 to celebrate a family birthday. When we arived on time for our reservation we were directed to a table for 4 and the staff offered to add a 5th seat on the spot but they had clearly not remembered our reservation. I understand my birthday may not be that important to other people, but it is to me, and I'd like to have a seat at the table I booked to celebrate my birthday with a few elderly guests... We decided to pass on the offer and get one of the other tables for 4 outside as it was a very sunny day. Out of the things that were in the drinks menu, the two we wanted were missing and we asked for something else they had as it was used as a cocktail ingredient but they said they cannot sell it to us. We've had no choice but leave. It's quite disappointing as we've heard many good things about this place and would have loved to try the food.

The food is absolutely exceptional. The smells that greet you at the door will lure you in and the flavors of your plates will make you come back. Kudos to the entire Tribe team. Just an A+++ dining experience.

A huge thank you to the entire Tribe team for your patience and understanding last night. We had a difficult family dynamic and they were so accommodating and thoughtful throughout our evening. The parotta, paneer and mango lassi in particular were my favourite! Really recommend

Food was delicious, and arrived promptly. However After asking to pay we had to ask a second time before the bill came and then no one brought the card machine, after waiting for a while we had to go up to the staff to finally pay.

We has a beautiful birthday meal here! The food and service was perfect and Rohit was a wonderful host. We had a host of complementary dishes with our order including starters and palate cleansers! The food was so delicious and one of the best Indians we’d ever had. Will definitely come back!

The expectations were high but tribe was most probably the worst Indian restaurant I have ever visited anywhere in the world The food was disgusting and the rice was cold ( had to send it back ) The cocktail was undrinkable and expensive the prices overall are not cheap here for the standard of food and service they provide The decor looked different to other Indian restaurants that’s the only positive I would not recommend this restaurant

The food was amazing, and the service was great. The chef took a bit of time to prepare the dishes but the food tasted very traditional.

I used to recommend Tribe to Oxford visitors, but I can no longer do so. They used to be slow, but now they are unbearable. We got our first starter after an hour of waiting, and it wasn't even a busy time. The server accidentally gave one of our dishes to another table and never re-made it, despite promising it was coming soon. After waiting over an hour and a half, we gave up and left. Sadly, we also had to explain what had happened twice before they removed the never-served dish from the bill. Don't get me wrong, everyone working here is kind, but they lack professionalism. I wouldn’t have written this review if the food was as good as it used to be. The lollipop chicken, one of their signature dishes, is no longer crispy on the outside and juicy inside; it tastes just like any other chicken. The parotta used to be savory and chewy, but now it’s bland and hard. The curry was alright, but it was never their strong suit. The signature dishes have lost their merit. Overall, it’s still not a terrible place to go, but I don't think it’s worth the price or the time.

Fantastic lunchtime vegetable thali great value

Visited for lunch on a Saturday. Really friendly service and amongst the best Indian meals we have had. The parotta breads were the very best of this type I have ever had

We ordered for Oriental Panner & Chicken and Chicken fried rice and Chicken Hakka Noodles, first of all order was delayed by 45 minutes to deliver and the food was so bad in taste it really ruined our dinner. We did order it reading the reviews and content but totally disappointed.

Restaurant very clean tidy authentic atmosphere. Food absolutely amazing really fresh proper authentic and tasty the best Indian food I have had in Oxford the food is definitely miles ahead of other restaurants comparable to Dishoom. Only reason why I wouldn’t give it 10 is because of the first half of the service we received, we pre booked on the phone for 8.45 and when we arrived we were rudely told we hadn’t booked? And then made to wait 10 minutes to be seated which was abit unwelcoming. Then we were seated and again it took a good 20 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink etc by the rude women waiter who wasn’t welcoming and made the first half of the experience very disappointing I think this needs to be reviewed. However this was made up for by the lovely professional owner taking time to rectify this poor service by making the second half of the meal absolutely brilliant fast service and as I mentioned above amazing food. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend best Indian food in Oxford by a mile.

The food is really great - not your standard Indian. The service leaves something to be desired. The waiters are nice but the service just generally slow. If you’re up for a nice Indian and you are not in a rush, I would certainly recommend.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff and seated promptly. The ambiance was inviting with subtle Indian decor that added to the dining experience. Food was absolutely delicious! The flavors were authentic and reminded me of home-cooked Indian meals and little bit bites apart from order has my heart What truly set this restaurant apart was the exceptional service. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensured that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Overall, I highly recommend this Tribe restaurant to anyone who is looking for a taste of authentic Indian cuisine served with a side of excellent service. Food was delicious and ambience is brilliant as always. But and I'm sorry for saying this, the lady who served us was super annoyed and frustrated for some reason. She wasn't keen on serving at all and was being sarcastic on being asked about the waiting time for the fried rice. Food is and always has been brilliant but service from that lady will surely make me question on dining again.

Food is just amazing!! Super authentic, flavourful, delicious and filling! Loved the Lollipop, Parotta and the Kerala fish curry. Great atmosphere, however the service was just fine.

5 of us tried Tribe for the first time and the food was excellent, full of flavour and the staff were fantastic in making us welcome. They gave us little tasters during the courses and the whole night was a really great experience. Very reasonable prices for great food served with smiles and kindness. Will visit again 5 star

The decor and atmosphere is warm and just feels like home. The food is truly exceptional and tasty, they provide authentic Indian cuisine which is hard to find outside of India. The staff are friendly and welcoming, they totally makes sure if customers have everything they need.

Amazing ambience and delicious food. The service was quick. To be honest this is the most authentic Indian restaurant I have come across in UK so far. Staff is very welcoming.

We were the only people in at lunch at the weekend, so we had our choice of seating -- there's outdoor space, but we sat next to the back door where there was a lot of natural light and air. The music was a little loud for my tastes, but can't really blame the staff as it was definitely a slow time of day. We were each brought a small glass of tropical fruit juice and a pakora for free, which was a nice touch. I'm vegetarian, but my friend isn't, so I think the staff were a little confused and thought we were sharing all of the dishes, so I had to wait a little for mine to arrive, but when it did it was very tasty, and a good amount of food. Not traditional curry house fare, in case that's what you're after, but fresh and flavourful. Will definitely come back again.

Really nice place with a lovely, small garden tucked in the back. Friendly service with lots of time made available to converse with your table and enjoy the meal. We ordered starters and a couple beers, then lazily made our way to some mains, two sides, and a couple more beers. There were several small dishes and sips that were served between the ordered dishes, which was a very nice touch. The food was very good, with the samosas and parotta tasting exceptional. Would definitely recommend and will certainly return!

I recently visited Tribe and had to try their chicken lollipops. They were absolutely delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The flavor was incredible, and the spices were just right. I highly recommend this dish to anyone who loves chicken.

It's a lovely place with a small menu of simple dishes. Unfortunately, it took an hour for our starters to arrive, so expect to spend here a looong time ..

4.9 stars (709 reviews) turns out to be overrated to us. The food was great. But we waited for more than 1.5h until the main dishes were served. They explained to us that there is only one chef so it takes for a long time for cooking. They even mixed up the bill and tried to take more than the amount shown on the bill unless we pointed it out. They claimed this was a mistake but I personally cannot convince myself as I saw they put the wrong price on the calculator. Overall, one should note these points above when using this place.

Having dinner at Tribe was a wonderful experience. The owner (Rohit) made the entire dinner experience a personal affair. The complimentary starters, a small drink etc. added to the touch. The dinner itself was very very good. We will highly recommend the Tribe for a great Indian meal.

We were sat down immediately apon arrival, and were given the menus to browse. The waiter quickly came and took our order, while also giving us great suggestions on what to try. Service was pretty slow, but it was definitely worth it as the food we got was phenomenal. Lots of flavour on everything, some were pretty spicy but overall was a great Indian restaurant and definitely one to try if you’re ever in the area! The decor was cool and had a cozy vibe to it, and the colour theme worked well together. Absolutely loved my experience here!

Had an amazing time at the Tribe. The atmosphere was great, the interior was beautiful. The cocktails were great. The dishes we ordered were all delicious, especially the starters, the chicken lollipop and the chilli chicken.

Very good Indian restaurant in the area with great ambience and a pleasant atmosphere. Their menu has a good variety of both north and south Indian cuisines and the food really tastes authentic Indian. We visited in a group and ordered various vegetarian items. Food started coming to our tables in about 20 minutes. The portion size was on smaller side and that's why it felt a bit costly but tasted awesome. One portion per person and cannot be shared. On weekends only they also have thali on the menu which consists of a variety of items combined in one order. Overall we liked the place and the food. Definitely recommended.

I’m so incredibly impressed by this place and considering we booked on a whim, even more so. The food was really well spiced and perfectly balanced, we shared 2 starters and 2 mains and I left perfectly satisfied. The service on the other hand was top notch, we were given complimentary, mini dishes all throughout and it made all the difference, frankly we didn’t even feel the wait and were entertained all throughout by such kind and friendly staff. Honestly the only thing wrong with this place is I got full and couldn’t keep eating.

Saturday night we arrived with no booking, but got there as soon as the doors opened so managed to grab a spot. (Highly recommend booking as it was fully booked thereafter) smell and music and whole vibe was lovely and oozed the independent and individual feel. Food was epic. Really tasty. Portions slightly on the small side as we usually share a rice and flatbread in other restaurants and have plenty, but it was just enough for one person so had to order extra. Now I know of it, I will be back. A must!

Fabulous flavours and a funky chill-out vibe. You can tell everything is freshly cooked and distinctive, and every dish was lovely. The signature pudding is the 'sizzling brownie', which was a nice finale.

Nice decor in this Indian restaurant just on the edge Oxford city centre. The service was very friendly. Food was fresh and delicious! It does take some time for preparation but that’s because they’re making dishes to order. Very good value too

The rating was a key decision maker, and I can tell you it is completely true...the food was authentic, freshly cooked (so wait times are longer) and packed full of Indian flavours, some of the best I have had. The service was fantastic, and the extra little touches of free tasters/welcome drinks/cocktails/wines that actually go with the food/Birthday brownie sets this place a part...if you are visiting Oxford and want to try something different, try this place...be warned it is popular so you need to book ahead.

Ordered the weekend special thali n prawn starter. Food was really good and authentic. It felt like a mini trip back to India. Chef came to the table and asked for feedback. The service staff was a lovely pleasant girl. We left the place tummy filled and satisfied 😊
