Tse Noodles in Oxford

One of my most frequented noodle restaurants in Oxford, I always want to get out of class every half-month for a delicious bowl of noodles, very tasty but a bit of a hassle only being able to pay with cash.

The best Chinese restaurant in Oxford I have ever met. Foods are worthy to pay and very delicious especially noodles.Atmosphere makes us hungry because of freshly and good smell foods

You know a restaurant is good when people are queueing to get in. We were tossing up between here and another place and we then saw the queue and that made our decision for us. The food here is seriously delicious. We had the char sui noodles, the spicy prawns and the spicy aubergine. People in the queue were saying the tofu was really good too. Can't wait to go back.

If you want to sit and enjoy a meal without feeling rushed, this place isn’t for you. Food was average. Can’t say I’d go back.

As a party of 2, we were seated in a 4 seater and then later had to share a table with strangers. This made it a bit awkward to eat, especially because of how cramped it was. Also, it was cash only which was a bit of a faff. But the food was good! I loved the glutinous chicken rice.

Relatively decent Chinese food - we think their rice dishes are much better than the noodle dishes. Portion size is decent for the price paid. Do bring cash as they do not accept card payments (but there are many ATMs nearby if you forget). We thought the roasted duck rice was the star of all the dishes! Seasoning was good and it was super tasty. We also liked the sweet and sour king prawn rice - it looks and is very appetising. The spicy dishes weren’t too spicy, so it should be fine for those who can take a bit of heat.

Basic small restaurant with AMAZING food!! Try the Special spiced chicken if u dare - so spicy and totally delicious.... tofu and beef was luscious too - the spice blending is perfect!

¡Sin duda vale la pena visitarlo! Muy pequeño paseo en solo restaurante. Todo es limitado, platos en el menú, selección de bebidas (sin alcohol) asientos. Sin embargo, las cosas limitadas que hacen, lo hacen muy bien! Teníamos cuatro platos diferentes, todos recién cocinados y con un sabor increíble. Sabores auténticos un tamaño de porción decente. Estrella muy amable y muy frío. Solo es efectivo, así que asegúrate de tener efectivo o puedes ir al cajero automático a 100 metros de distancia. Sin duda volveremos a probar algunos de sus otros platos.

Got the sichaun pork dumpling noodle soup. A succulent chinese meal

A typical traditional chinese noodle house where the decor is very basic. Nothing extra ordinary in terms of service, not very warm welcoming - kind of service. But that's expected. There was only one guy preparing the dishes. It didn't take long for order to come and we had everything served to us correctly. Although I noticed, that there were other people who came before us, didn't get their food until we were half way finishing ours. The noodles we had, both were very nice and tasty..not sure about the amount of MSG in the food because after that I felt very thirsty for the rest of the day and it wasn't even a hot day.

Wow wow wow. Third time here and it never disappoints. Last 2 visits to Oxford were solely to eat this food again. Easily up there with the best places in London’s Chinatown. As a self proclaimed Chinese food connoisseur. I can safely say that this place is the best in Oxford if not the surrounding areas as well!

He estado innumerables veces durante mi licenciatura en Oxford. Fácilmente el mejor restaurante chino que he visitado en el Reino Unido, y el más cultural / culinariamente auténtico, por lo que puede no ser para todos - el servicio es rápido / abrupto, pero genial si el tiempo es corto. Solo efectivo, sin reservas. Horas punta de ~ 7. El personal de espera es encantador, y el Sr. Tse es una leyenda. Las mesas exteriores son una verdadera delicia con el buen tiempo, mirando a Jesus College. Donde dice picante, significa que – no elija si no puede manejarlo, o solicitar menos calor. Para mí, es una maravillosa versión de la especia - Szechuan, como un horno, restaurador. Excelente selección de platos de arroz y fideos, recién hechos. Mi única crítica es que no está increíblemente limpio y el baño no es muy accesible - una dependencia alrededor de la parte trasera, por una escalera de metal exterior.

When we Asians enter the door, we are greeted with dirty faces, and when white people enter, we are greeted with smiling faces. After taking the order, they informed us that we needed to change seats, but they did not inform us when they entered the door. The eyes and expressions were obviously racist, and this restaurant is still made of Chinese food, but it is racist to Asian faces

Insane value for money. Huge portions. Very tasty. Super-simple place. Self-service.

Great noodle soup at reasonable prices. Be prepared to wait a bit for a table at busy times as the restaurant is quite small. Also don't forget it is cash only.

A lovely little restaurant that has especially good Sichuan dishes. It has a good mix of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians (and some nice vegan dishes too). I recommend booking ahead as the lack of seats can result in long-ish wait times for walk-ins.

My favourite spot to go out to eat in Oxford. Staff are lovely, foods authentic, tasty, spiced well and it’s easy to find good vegan/veggie options for me. Couldn’t be better and all on a student budget (: I look forward to coming back 😋

great place tucked away in Oxford. from the dishes we tried, both had slight-mild spice despite not being explicitly labelled as spicy (at least on the English side of the menu), so be aware! highly recommend the scallion oil chicken noodles; the chicken was crispy and the soup tasty and clear

Definitely a budget friendly place for students. The crispy duck with rice was delicious; however, I do wish they can go easy with the sugar next time as the sauce under was a bit too sweet. The dining environment was alright and the staff did a good job serving us.

Today I went to eat scallion oil chicken noodles, which was fine. The cheap and delicious chicken in the UK, this chicken could be better.

Not awful but not good. Go to Edamame or Angrid instead.

I don’t often leave poor reviews (feel free to check my profile), but the waitress was really quite impolite when I visited on Saturday evening. We were there less than an hour, but we were told to leave while I was still eating my food (it was actually my friend’s who asked me to finish hers).

I expect their noodles to be great just from their name and they didn't disappoint me. The chicken noodle was delicious with affordable price. However they only accept cash.

Mushroom curry and vegetable dumpling soup are sooo good! And the service is also very nice :) I need to edit my review as the place used to be 5 star place for me and I loved mushroom curry rice here but they don't have it in the menu anymore. Also vegetable soup got much worse than few years ago, it always tastes different and it is not a good change. The service is not always nice what I understand considering how busy the place gets on occasions but it doesn't improve the experience. Overall, I am very disappointed with the place which used to be my favourite and now I won't like to come back here again.

We had a fantastic dinner at Tse Noodle- no nonsense service and food but absolutely delicious. We’re still talking about the noodle soups over a week later- we just loved it! Great value for money (do note that they only take cash payments!) and right in the heart of Oxford. Highly recommend a visit if you can get a table- they are practically always full, a testament to the quality of food here!

I don’t know who’s leaving the positive comments, but this is not the right place to go if you want authentic Chinese food. I had the Mapo Tofu rice (my favorite dish), but it was so bad and the spices do not blend well AT ALL. It’s the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had, the end. PS: Dim sum is somewhat okay, still not worth it…

Disgusting dirty restaurant with rude staff and the most disappointing over priced food. How they can get away with hygiene standards so low and not be closed down is a mystery.

Noodles were tasty but underwhelming and it felt like a good pack of instance noodles. I hopes for a bit more flavors.

It seems that the place was not very clean, the staff was rude, the food quality was poor and to make things worse, they only accepted cash which was very inconvenient.

The restaurant we visited served roasted duck, but unfortunately, the dish had mainly bones and very little meat. Despite our group of three requesting a four-seater table, the restaurant insisted that we sit at a three-seater table. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the restaurant was questionable as there was an unpleasant smell.

What a find! My wife and I lived in Asia for 3 years and their noodles, gyoza and dim sum were as tasty as anything we ate when we were living overseas. Wonderful flavours, fast service at a price we were happy to pay. Lovely.

Nice cheap noodles, quick service and friendly staff

Very rude staff, and slow service. My friend and I ordered two bowls of noodles, but it took forever to arrive. The couple next to us took their seats 10 mins after us, but their food arrived before ours. Given their slow service, the waiter had the nerve to kick us out. We were in the middle of our meal (about 15mins after the food had arrived) when a waiter approached us, dropped the bill, and said, “Could you finish quickly and leave? There are people waiting outside and we are a small shop.” My friend told him, “But we haven’t finished our food yet.” And he rudely told us, “Well then, finish it quickly.” Seriously, what on earth was that attitude? If you want your customers to free up their space early, maybe serve your food early instead of kicking people out 15 mins in. I will never visit this restaurant again, and I strongly advise others not to.

Great casual dining. No booking and service quick. Food fantastic, noodle soups and spicy pawns are all delicious. Very good value for fresh, spicy food. One of my favourite restaurants. Cash only. Owner likes to keep the pot boiling so don't take a book!

It was a very friendly place to dine. The owner sat down with and shared his family' past travelling. He told me about his father travelling to an island near Australia where I live. The staff were very nice and tried their best to make everyone relaxed and happy. I would recommend eating there. It's is on Ship Street, Oxford, in the heart of the town. The food was very authetic Chinese Asian food, and it was very yummy. I wish them all the best, Angela. 🙏 🤲 😊 I

After waiting outside for ten minutes, the rude owner let a larger group in first to make more money off them. Never again!

Do yourself a favour and either get the aromatic beef noodles (non spicy) or the chongqing spicy beef noodles (medium-very spicy). £10 a bowl (be aware cash only) and incredibly tasty. Nice selection of dim sum too (e.g. BBQ pork buns). You will have no regrets and I have been here at least 3 times now, and get the noodles every time. They also don't use any peanut products which is excellent (peanut allergy here).

Been eyeing this place since I got to Oxford. Glad I made it over. Had to wait outside for 15-20 minutes for my order because they were busy and there was no space inside. The two things I ordered, the custard buns and the Sichuan pork dumpling noodles, both came out hot. Noodles and broth were both really, really good. I don't know what it was about them (five-spice? fish sauce??), but I could've eaten another bowl on taste alone. In contrast, I didn't like the pork dumplings very much, and could've done without them. Spice level is enough to make your nose run but never overwhelms the taste of the food. Disappointed I only got two custard buns, but they were the definitely the sweet ending I needed.

The food were very oily, salty and overcooked. Our group of 10 people with children who barely finished our food were very rudely asked to leave because there were people waiting outside. Don’t bother going, not worth a dime.

The Chongqing beef noodle soup is really something else. I went back for it three times over a summer break in Oxford it was that good. Soup is rich and aromatic and the brisket cooked to perfection. I took a Chinese friend there who also approved. The staff are really kind too and you'll have interesting chats with the owner if you meet him. I'll be back for sure!

Small but really really good, located tucked away in the centre of historic Oxford. The menu is short (a good sign), with a selection of good rice dishes and dim sum. Then the real speciality seems to be the noodle soups, which were excellent, a real depth of flavour in the stock. Dim sum also nice, only a few to choose from but really top quality. And excellent value, two of us had dinner with starters and tea, and the bill was £45. Note they take Cash Only, and don't serve alcohol.

I went here a year ago and still think about the szechuan pork wonton noodle soup— some of the best noodle soup I’ve ever had! Note that it is cash only, but definitely worth stopping at an ATM for!

many have raved to me about this place saying that it's the best Chinese food or noodles in Oxford. and where they would bring guest. frankly I didnt like the service, slow and flustered. the atmosphere is soooo bad filthy. FILTHY TABLES!! if you eat here don't touch the place mats because it's just gunk under. food was not really anything to write home about, and too expensive. not recommend!

Amazing food. ‘Rough n ready’ style place, not posh. BYO wine. Queues outside sometimes. Shuts at 9pm sharp even on a Saturday night. My Go-To place for dinner every time I’m in Oxford.

Excellent noodle soups. Chicken with scallion oil is amazing, and chongqing beef is great if you enjoy Sichuan pepper. Pork and aromatic beef noodle soups I would also recommend.

Noodles were very starchy and poorly cooked. Soup lacked depth. Small portions and toppings. Would not recommend at all.

Always come here for warm spicy noodle soup, especially when it’s cold outside! I always get beef aromatic noodle with tofu as appetizer!

Great place, best to go when its quiet, amazing food! Best noodles in Oxford, would go so far as saying its the best spot for a quick bite to eat in the whole of Oxford, certainly my favourite place. Be prepared for an alternative ordering style than you are used to (at least in the most of UK). Check off the items you want on the order sheet provided on entry and then hand in to either the owner/chef or one of the brilliant staff that work there as well and they bring your food to the table! The Aromatic Beef Noodles and Sichuan Pork Noodles are a must try. Been going since they opened and when I could I tried to go at least twice a week. Also been in many a time watching the chef hand-make the dumplings, which are also best I could find in Oxford. I, finally, would recommend that you try any specials when they are on, the chef/owner is super talented and opened the restaurant with just himself working there and has since expanded and altered the restaurant to meet the growing demand for these delicious noodles in Central Oxford, with a street-food style interior decor, it can feel a little cramped, but its full of life and laughter!

Tasty, authentic Chinese food. The waiter is wonderful, which I hope is a reflection of the workers at this restaurant being treated and paid very fairly… would definitely return for the food if we’re back in Oxford!

Average Oriental food in a Western country. Food passable but service lousy and haughty.

Great spot, really tasty. I think the soup noodles are the most worthwhile, very well priced and hearty. Dim sum is fine but I would definitely opt for the noodles. It is all cash so be prepared!!

Very small joint. Takes cash only. When we visited on Bank Holiday half of the items were not available on the menu. We were disappointed at the lack of choice. But when the food came we were very impressed by the authentic taste. The pork belly was exquisite. The schezuan noodle soup was brilliant. Dumplings were good as well. I don't mind the cramped interior and disposable cutlery if food is so good. I believe this is very popular among students and quite rightly so. Highly recommended.

Lovely noodles food generally was really great we had a lovely time staff were great unfortunately the building could do with a bit of a fix up lots of mould in the ceiling over the dinner table. Only sound noodles and dim sum was available the rest of the menu wasn't which was a bit of a shame but will definitely be back for more oodles.

Lovely cosy spot. The Chinese beef noodle soup was phenomenal. Beautifully spiced, nice chilli and pepper after burn. The broth was to die for ..will definitely be back

Best wonton noodles I have tried in the UK! It's a quick and no fuss cash only eatery. I would love to come again for the food. Yet £10 for a wonton noodle is not cheap. Food is also rather salty. Cooking is done in the middle of the room yet ventilation is not great. With all the cooking fumes you might not stay for long.

A pretty cool place for dinner! The food was very good, really enjoyed their noodle soups (there was also a good selection of vegetarian options). One thing to keep in mind is - the place is pretty small and gets crowded quickly.

The best Chinese food you can try in Oxford! All of the dishes I’ve tried were delicious and fragrant. The soup noodles are a must! Don’t expect too much from the service and you won’t be disappointed. I keep coming back for more!

Food is good but terrible service. We were waiting for a third person to join and they were a bit late, the owner came to yell at us because we had a table for 3. He was extremely rude, even cutting us off when we tried to explain.

Tofu and Veggie Noodle 100% authentic. As if the bowl of noodles was made in China and instantaneously transported to you in England. No frills but absolutely worth it. Curious about their rice and dim sum. Will be coming back!
