As a Chinese student here, I believe this is the best Chinese restaurant in Oxford

Exceptional food and friendly serving. Also actually good value when you understand the quality and freshness of the cookery.

The dishes were quick and delicious. I first ordered from deliveroo so I came to the shop to eat again! The service was excellent and they also accept card payment. I ordered vermicelli noodles from deliveroo once but the noodles all sucked up the soup so you won't get soup that much if you order online. Maybe there can be soup and noodles separately?

Ate food from here 3 times, each time I walk away with stomach pains then mad toilet dash... reason is because no matter what you order, ALOT of oil is used in the sauces. Oil is used in sauces to act like a lid, perserving the sauce, so no need to keep making new batches. Just need to use less thick oils please.... use LOTS of steamed rice to soak the oils up... I ate two toast to line my stomach as a oil sponge... 😐

Eat or order from here regularly. The food is amazing, and at a consistently high quality. Even though I eat meat I'm almost always vegetarian here because the options are so good (aubergine in spicy cause; preserved eggs; hand pulled noodles etc.), but if you want meat they do it well too (likenthr lamb with Cumin.

Five years ago when I was a grad student, I came here regularly to get my fill of winter melon soup. Today, on my first trip back to Oxford, I made sure to get a meal here. Happy to report that the food is still so excellent, and it's a beautiful and rare thing for a place to maintain consistent, high standards.

Delicious, varied, authentic, reasonably priced. The guo bao rou is the best sweet and sour pork I've ever had, and the handmade noodles are delicious. As well as standard Anglo-Chinese food, they also do dishes from several different Chinese cuisines (Northeastern, Sichuan, Xinjiang), all brilliantly made. The staff were attentive, polite and accommodating (they were able to cater for my sesame allergy), and the food came fairly quickly. The comment about being cash-only is out-of-date, they have contactless payment now.

I always get to enjoy quality food at affordable prices. The staffs are friendly and efficient, dishes are always served very rapidly. We have tried multiple chef recommended dishes on the menu and they are all amazing. Love the 章記小炒肉, aubergine with pork, and the 水煮魚. Totally recommend this place and will definitely come again with friends and family.

Had a take away all the portions were small the duck was over cooked and missed some key items off the menu. Over priced for what we got unfortunately

We ordered the stir fried lamb cumin and Xinjiang dapanji via Deliveroo and both dishes were delicious! Quite spicy though just be aware~ We'd love to go in person sometime!

The food and service are amazing. Highly recommend Pork Balls with Aubergine and Traditional Chinese Dumplings. We paid £48 for two with takeaway.

Could not recommend this place enough. We had the spicy beef handmade noodles and the shredded pork with rice. Both were amazing. But the highlight was the mini spring rolls and the squid. So fresh and crispy. Cant wait to be back!

Not a lot of food stood out to me on my trip to Oxford, but this restaurant’s spicy stewed beef and potatoes and spicy prawns were probably one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. Beef and potatoes were so soft, the sauce was so flavorful, and the staff was so sweet as they accommodated our large party size. Definitely recommend coming here (I am dreaming of going back).

Authentic food from the north eastern part of Chinese. There are simple one dish with rice or fried noodles to BBQ Cumin lamb ribs, all very well done. Do make reservations for dinner, they are busy.

I was very happy to eat here twice. I will add pictures next time I come back. The service is very good, from booking to dining to checkout it feels smooth. Cold Jellyfish: As a kid who grew up by the East China Sea, I don’t understand why this dish is/needs to be so spicy. Big Plate Chicken: It's also spicier than expected. It doesn't belong to Sichuan cuisine? All in all not very impressive. Guobao Pork: It’s really fragrant, I like the smell of vinegar. My friends from the Northeast said there is still room for improvement, but I personally think it is quite delicious. Pork Ribs and Beans: Personally, I think it’s average, but my friends from the Northeast think it’s delicious and has a hometown flavor. Salt and pepper chicken wings: crispy, flavorful, and quite delicious. 2023.1.22 New Year’s Eve update: Minced pork tofu: The tofu is very delicious, and the marinade and chili oil are both OK. Chinese cabbage for soup: a huge pot (?), very fresh. There are shrimp, ham and crab sticks. Grilled fish is not spicy: the seasoning mainly relies on tempeh, but you can use more salt. No merit, no fault. Stir-fried vegetables: very good, green and tender. Oily Noodles: Amazing, the noodles are chewy and delicious, and the seasoning is superb. Dumplings: Handmade dumplings are served on New Year's Eve, and the pork and sauerkraut are more delicious than the pork and cabbage. 2024.2.9 New Year’s Eve update: Guobao Pork: The quantity is obviously less. In terms of seasoning, more vinegar is used, which makes the fried food look a little old. I don’t know if there have been any changes in the kitchen, but the last two times I went to Guobao Pork were not satisfactory. Garlic pork belly: Seasoned exactly the same as the saliva chicken, delicious, but not too much meat. Sautéed Bones: The fishy meat and bones could be removed better. The taste is mediocre and the seasoning is simple. Teppanyaki Tamago Tofu: Very good, especially the crispy Tamago Tofu. Steamed seabass: good, the fish meat is fresh, although the back of the fish is a bit old, but the live meat near the fins and head is particularly delicious. Stir-fried water spinach: excellent as always.

Restaurant Staff are always polite and friendly. Had two wonderful birthday celebrations here. The food is always amazing. And if in doubt on what to eat, they are happy to provide with advice.

This was such a great find and an amazing place for a succulent Chinese meal. We ordered the special spice pot and the beef fried noodles with the chicken and cabbage and chicken wings on the side. Everything was top notch and arrived so quickly to the table, the portions were extremely generous. I’ll be frequenting this place a lot!

Easily the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Egg fried rice was borderline microwave rice, Dry over cooked chicken, and soggy spring rolls. Very disappointing.

Fast service and the food tasted great. Good portion size. Only downside - there wasn’t much meat in the meat dishes. Otherwise, would have been perfect!

The food hygiene is a big Nono. I found a very sharp plastic from my fryer dish, and they refused to refund it. Apart from that, they serve the food with broken-edge plate and no water from toilet water tap.

点了三道菜，锅包肉+地三鲜+酸菜粉。锅包肉完全不正宗，居然炸成了脆的，味道也不对，失败。地三鲜有点偏咸，土豆切法也不对，勉强及格。酸菜粉还不错。服务不错，上菜快，态度也可以。在英国想吃地道锅包肉还是放弃吧…… 踩了无数坑了。

I love this place and go there as often as I can when in Oxford. Their home-made noodle soups are so good that if I had to choose one dish to eat the rest of my life this one would be a serious contender! But they are not a one-trick pony. All dishes are good, actually. Also prices are reasonable and service is super fast.

已经第二次留言了(谷歌不让用同个账号所以我换了一个来留言) 今天用uber eats 点了一个叉烧手工面，本来是想点朋友介绍的海鲜手工面的，但想想还是换了。我今天搬家了，所以心里很烦，这一个星期真的很不顺，所以想吃特别辣的食物让自己心情好一些。 店员真的很好，我备注了爆辣，他们在小票上回复了"ok"，真挺好的。但是我吃起来没有说很辣，可能因为心情真的太差了所以啥味道都吃不出。 但有一说一，他们的食物真的很好吃，之前也一直会点他们家的麻辣干锅，但现在搬家搬到更远的地方，配送费更贵了，以后可能就不常点了。 今天外卖到的很及时，只是我一直在整理房间，所以面就放坨了(真的很烦)。有一点小遗憾，下次找机会去店里再点一次叉烧手工面。想吃新鲜热乎乎的，希望有缘吧 :)

This is one of my most favourite place in Oxford!!!! Been here three times and this place has never disappointed us :) Quick service and lots of tasty food to choose from! The portion sizes are large and the amount of great choices there are you really need at least 4 people to try different things! I love the aubergenes, madodoufu, egg soup and their flat noodle is INCREDIBLE! Definitely will be back soon again :)! Also when you cannot finish they give you boxes so you can take it back home. I would say the seats further in are more nicer and the front could have a revamp.

Best szechuan food place in Oxford, possibly the whole of UK. Period. Staff were very polite and friendly and very accommodating to family with babies. Our to go place in the area always.

The cook deserves a higher salary considering their fabulous capability to cut meat so thinly it's nearly transparent. Any complaints about the waitress's rudeness were quickly overshadowed by the arrival of our dishes, but not in a positive way. We spent several minutes just trying to locate the meat in our meals.

If you want proper Chinese spicy food, this is the only place in Oxford tick the box in my opinion, however, this time all the dishes that we ordered were too salty, I hope that's a one off thing.

Food was amazing. We had 4 dishes that were all great and delicious. Guoba Rou. Hot plate tofu. Shredded cabbage. A cold pork appetizer. Not sure why there were actually bad reviews regarding the food. These might actually be from people who thinks wagamama serve decent asian food so take those reviews with a pinch of salt. Staff were helpful and lovely as well. Really nothing to complain. And we are able to pay via contactless means too Thank you for a great day. Despite an hour+ drive, I believe we will return again

Amazing Sichuan Chinese food - especially the dry-fried green beans!

The duck was very dry and we recieved the smallest amount of hoisin sauce imaginable-and that was not even sauce-like it was too thick. The main courses were not that nice, the beef didnt seem fresh. I would forget about this expierience if it was normal prices but at £14 for the quarter dry duck and £15 a course , i feel ripped off.

This is at least my sixth time to visit this restaurant. They have a wide range of food choices and very reasonable price. Better to make reservation due to limited seats.

Very nice resturant, with quality Northeastern Chinese food, the cuisines from other parts of China is a bit lacking, but its fine overall.
