I visited Whatagwan Caribbean Bar & Grill yesterday afternoon with a family member, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. While the staff member was polite, the welcome felt cold—just the bare minimum in terms of service. We ordered 1/2 a jerk chicken each with rice and peas and steamed vegetables, which came to about £38. The food itself was nice, but what really frustrated us was the lack of attentiveness. Despite being the only customers in the bar, no one checked on us, asked if everything was okay, or even offered us drinks. We sat by the window at the front, but the staff member did not engage with us at all and stayed towards the back for most of our visit, which only added to the lack of attentiveness. The atmosphere felt flat and lacked energy. I wasn’t expecting anything specific, but some kind of ambiance would have been nice. Instead, TalkSport was playing, which didn’t really suit the atmosphere at all. Overall, while the food was decent, the lack of warmth and engagement made the experience frustrating and unpleasant. A little effort from the staff could have made all the difference.

Really impressive - great service and superb food. Reasonably priced and served piping hot. The tuk tuk special is delicious as was the butter chicken. Not huge portions but plenty big enough and £65 for 2. Highly recommended!

Lovely cafe! Best panini I’ve had, and best Victoria sponge I’ve had. Will definitely try to come back before we go home. Gutted we don’t live closer!

It was ok, nothing special. It wasn’t bad and it wasn’t wow! Average..would we return if we’re in Eastbourne again? Probably not as loads of other restaurants around here to try. This review is purely based on the food as the waitress was really lovely and friendly.

If you are looking to have The Classic Fish & Chips, if you are on a Day Trip from anywhere, this is a Superb Place to enjoy a British Classic.... Beautifully cooked Fish, and Lovely personalised service.... You feel like a Customer... a Family owned Business they are Very good people.... Warm welcome and prompt Service.... Thank you for a Delicious 😋 meal.....

What a find! I can't recommend this place highly enough. Lovely staff, delicious food, very relaxing atmosphere. Bella (landlady) was wonderful with our 2 dogs and took the trouble to talk to us, fuss the dogs, and gave us tips on walking and (other,) pubs worth visiting in the area. We ended up returning at the end of our holiday to thank Bella for the excellent tips and it felt like we were already friends. She remembered us and was excited to hear about our week!

My wife and I stayed at the Best Western hotel in Eastbourne and we decided to visit this little restaurant for dinner and we were not disappointed! The service was great and the food was sublime! My wife ordered the mixed grill and a naan bread whereas I had the Chicken Jalfrezi (my personal favourite). Overall it was one of the greatest curries we ever had and the naan bread was outstanding as it was super soft, buttery and full of garlicky flavour. We will definitely visit again! A+++++
