Truly awful customer service with a very rude owner. Average food - would recommend walking a bit further to find somewhere with decent food and customer service.

Been coming for a while always happy with the food but today I was disappointed as I paid £ 7.15 for a piece of cod and it was more batter than fish will be looking for more options in the future the sever as always was pleasant and very friendly

This isn’t a real fish & chips shop it’s a kebab shop but they do fish and chips the piece of cod was nice but tiny the chips were ok but obviously just standard frozen chips The price was extortionate for the size £15.60 and a £1 for ketchup sachets It was nice but not worth the price Edit apparently it’s not a kebab shop but it’s definitely it a proper fish a chips shop also the cook did not wear gloves when handling the fish It was ok but here in Cornwall and Devon fish and chips is about £12 even in Weymouth and has more flavour This isn’t slander it’s my opinion

A coke is £1.70, sit down and it immediately becomes £3. Prices are far too high for what is just an average fish and chips.

Very friendly staff, the only chip shop open on a Sunday, 👌 late opening hours, really good food, the chips are one of the best in Eastbourne. Highly recommend this place, and you can eat in if you choose 😋

Just bought cod and chips and cant believe how small the cod is. If you want value for money and a good cod portion go to the Bamboo Garden fish and chip shop.

Just ordered fish and chips..been here lots of times in the past because I liked the food. Will bot be coming again. 10.87 for a regular cod which was child's portion. 12.25 for large cod which compared to other just as good chip shops in the area would be a regular regarding size. Chips over 4 pound and very small..Good job I wasn't hungry

The main reason we loved this place was because the lady who served us was delightful. We ordered then ducked off to sainsbury to buy a drink, and when we got back, they hadn't set out food out getting cold, but pulled it out warm from their heaters when we were ready to go. My partner loved this! And to top it off, the batter tasted thin and fresh!

Thank goodness the Dolphin has reopened! I had not quite appreciated how lovely the staff are, how clean it is in the restaurant and how delicious their food is. I ate at another local F&C restaurant last Friday evening. Not atall a good experience! Bamboo Garden and The Dolphin are the best F&C restaurants in EB. The Bamboo Garden is just too far for me to walk. Well done to The Dolphin, you do a great job. Thankyou. Julie Akers Eastbourne

Chips were a bit crunchy for my tastes, I prefer softer chips still it was nice food, bit of a small portion for the price but was satisfied

The fish & chips I ordered were well done, and was just the right portion. The order was for medium Cod and Chips, with two Gerkins and a can of Coke Zero. It was only around the corner from where I was staying, so it was just a short walk away.

Update: Now the seventh year we’ve done this and yet again our order was prepared on time and wrapped efficiently so we all knew who had what. Thank you Team Dolphin!! This is the second year we’ve had a large order from the Dolphin. We have a traditional family get together on the beach with fish and chips. The Dolphin have served us brilliantly re are usually 20-30 of us! The food is super hot and the fish is perfectly cooked and delicious with gorgeous fat chips. Love it!

In my opinion this is the best fish and chips shop in Eastbourne and beyond. Tried it numerous times while visiting Eastbourne and the food is always fresh and tasty! Their cod protions are nicely sized and never oily (which happens a lot in other places). Also we are always served with politeness and a smile. Recommened!

I must say I never had a thinner and more crispy batter on a fish (could be more salty thats the only thing I could find wrong with it). Chips nice and crisp outside and mushy inside. Service would be perfect if I was asked for if I want a side od mushy peas or given napkins for my takeaway order.

Been visiting since travelling down to Eastbourne since about 2003 after working at a school nearby. We visit Eastbourne approximately 5 - 6 times a year and always finish the day here, mostly a take out so we can enjoy the sea views before our return drive to Orpington Kent. Never been disappointed 😋

Haven't been here for ages. The quality of the food was excellent. Prices have increased, but you get what you pay for. Would definitely recommend.

Just ordered a large cod and chips, mushy peas and soft drink. The soft drink was fine, chips were cold and fish (not sure what it was ) was very oily. Won't be back.

It was suggested to me as a fantastic fish. Food was good, but I guess the expectations had been built to high. Seemed a bit pricey too.

Very tasty food. I had 1/2 chicken- sooo juicy, other half had large cod and cheesy chips and it was cooked to perfection. Fish so fresh and flaky, just falling apart! Couldn't find the chips under all that melted cheese, yum, absolute heaven! Service with a smile. A review from a stuffed and utterly satisfied customer. Will definitely be back soon. We searched online for a good Fish & Chip shop in Eastbourne and the Dolphin Fish bar came up as the best. We visited last night and can confirm that all the 5 star reviews are justified, we were greeted warmly, the lady serving us was friendly and the food was really good. We had the Haddock and chips, the batter was just as it should be and the chips were good as well. We’ll visit again on our next trip and would thoroughly recommend you do to.

The happy face of Mel greets you smiling from behind the Dolphin counter and has done for more years then I care to remember. I have been using the chip shop since I was a teenager because you can rely on top quality food and service. The cleanliness and honesty of this establishment cannot be praised enough I fully recommend that everybody makes the most of this local rarity.

Wouldn’t recommend Manager was so rude when we first walked in, I asked the price difference to sit in or take out and she said ‘what do you want me to add it all up and compare it by 50p’ food was horrible chips were bland dry, my battered sausage batter was raw, curry sauce was cold ans watered down. As we ate in we decided we wasn’t going to eat the food, a guy said talk to the manager, again she was rude and couldn’t beilve that the food wasn’t nice, no customer service there. She refused my Freind a refund even tho she couldn’t eat hers as the sausage was the cheapest cold dirty sausage we’ve had. We got told not to come back if we didn’t like there food. She said well it’s not the 1st time we have had a bad review, I am not surprised. I’m guessing the good reviews are from the people that havnt had a traditional fish and chips, although they don’t seem to have had the sausage. Can’t believe how rude they was.

I eat here on the odd occasion whenever people say Where's a good fish and chip shop. Today on my birthday my daughter and two grandchildren after a brisk walk on the beach decided to indulge. Service is always with a smile and food hot and delicious on departure I saw they do the old style ribs so had a takeaway for later. Value and proper food.

Absolutely the best fish and chips you can find in Eastbourne, £11.50 for cod and chips including a pot of curry sauce. The chips were crisp and perfectly fried, the fish was amazing. Don't waste your time looking for somewhere better than the dolphin because there isn't one around. Treat your self's, you won't be disappointed.

Not very friendly service, first and last time I ate there

This place was recommended to us, on Google it says it shuts at 9pm. We asked for delivery at 8.30. Was told no longer delivering then whilst we were discussing to pick up he hanged up. Called back 4/5 times no answer. Called from a different number a few minutes later, he picks up and he said the line cut off. Straight away he said “we’re shutting, if you can be here in 5 then you can place an order, we’re short staffed”. It’s 8.30pm! How about learn some manners and people skills don’t hang up on customers and take the time to explain if your over stretched! I don’t know about the food here but if it’s anything like the people skills then don’t have high hopes!

Small portions, but decent quality. This is one of the few shops that doesn't close in the afternoon on weekdays. Free parking opposite.

Really tasty cod with great chips and good portion sizes. Batter was rather soggy on one order though. Quick service and great guys in there so good option for fish and chips as right by the seafront.

Easy to find and just a short walk from the seafront the dolphin was great. Friendly, speedy service and super fresh fish makes for a perfect chippy. If I lived closer I would be a regular. Very good value for the quality of ingredients they are using.

Highly recommended by the Guest House we stayed at in Eastbourne. So good on our first visit went again 2 days later. Dined in. It was excellent. Will definitely eat there again on our next trip.

Food was nice BUT a medium portion was more on the small side. We ordered cod and chips with mushy peas and curry sauce and chicken and chips with 2 gherkins and 2 soft drinks. Cost us 29.40! The price should have Initially been 23.30 when she thought we were taking it away then when we said we wanted to eat it in she slapped on £6.10!! That’s over 20% of the bill !!!! Absolute joke

Good service. Really nice fish and chips. We ordered large chips but the portion size was on the small side to what I expected and from what I can see in other reviewers pictures. They had to make my fish fresh and were nice and quick.

We first had food from this restaurant on on 2019 August September as we were on our honeymoon. Thoroughly enjoyed our food and its one of the special moments we cherish about esstbourne. Bang on perfect chips.
