Coming to Eastbourne Aka Restaurant, the food is the best. It's really delicious and the service is the best. It's the best restaurant I've ever been to. I would like to introduce Aka Restaurant to those who come to Eastbourne.

I called up to make a booking more than 2 weeks in advance, my booking was accepted and I even received a second phone call to confirm date and time only to turn up and find the restaurant closed! It said it was open online and why accept a booking if closed? Incredibly disappointed as I had travelled from Brighton and had to unexpectedly find a different restaurant for a large group.

I visited this place for the first time today. It was truly amazing. They welcomed us warmly. It was a very special Korean food with a taste that could not be found anywhere else. If you go to Eastbourne you must come here. We will be back again.

When I first came to this restaurant, I felt so joyous. Lovely staff, customer service is incredible. The food is to die for, and the atmosphere is really great aswell.

My friends picked this restaurant out as they had rated it on a prior visit. Food incredibly over priced - one starter was quite literally a tin of sweetcorn emptied on a plate with some plain melted cheese on it and that cost £9. The biggest upset was finding part of an octopus tentacle (after eating half the dish) at the bottom of my vegetarian noodle dish. Avoid at all costs if you are a veggie. The waiter was apologetic and friendly, but I can't recommend it I'm afraid.

The food was excellent and tasty, and even though they were swamped, they were trying to be very attentive to us. If I am around, will definitely be back ☺️

Best food I have had in a while

Food was excellent and good value. Service abit slow to start with but got better. No music so very quiet. Good for conversation but lacks atmosphere. BBQ your own food is good fun too.

I don’t know why it isn’t busier here, it doesn’t matter what you order, the food is excellent, service quick and friendly, prices reasonable. This has become my favourite restaurant in Eastbourne because I’ve never had any disappointment, I always end up full and happy, and thinking a holiday to Korea might be a good idea.

I hate writing this because I have ordered takeaways from here and haven’t had any issues and I live the fact there is one Korean restaurant in Eastbourne, because I am half Korean. But my experience yesterday was shocking. I had pre-booked a table for 4 for 7:30 but when we arrived there were no tables available. One became available and even though we were waiting for it and were promised it the young lady and man working the floor gave it to another party who had stated they were early for an 8:30 reservation. We didn’t complain when they asked us to come back in thirty minutes. There was another group of 4 who had arrived after us at this point as well. When we came back we were happy to see there were tables available and we noticed the people who came after us were already seated as well. However, the front of house informed us they had run out of food, specifically rice. We were only offered an apology and asked to come back the next day, but we have children and had organised childcare for our meal out so that wasn’t possible. Plus, we were worried about getting a table anywhere because it was around 8:30 at this point. The front of us should have reserved our table and not seated people who did not pre-book or were early for their reservations. They should have been prepared for us, because they asked us to come back and when we did the lady working did not even remember us.

Average tasting food, minimal portions, no service to speak of.

Excellent work authentic and amazing experience. Needs more attention. Please come down and eat here you will NOT regret. The chefs attention to detail is brilliant and the staff are very friendly.

Forst time we have been since it changed name/owner and had the Pork platter for the bbq (2 people). It was DEVINE. We love the food here and the lady who served us was absolutely amazing. We will be back!

Ok so here's the thing. Me and misses have vast knowledge of food industry previously running several restaurants in the Oriental domain. So as you can imagine we know great Eastern and Asian food when we dine out. Korean is my wives favourite, and this place will not disappoint, its authentic and very tasty. Its under new management and also new chef in kitchen, no wonder the food was great as previously owned it was not. Normally we would drive down to New Malden to eat decent Korean food but not anymore, right on our doorstep we have found a gem.

I recently dined at AKA Korean BBQ in Eastbourne for the first time, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The food was very good, with a wide variety of flavorful dishes to choose from. The BBQ options were a highlight, allowing us to cook our own meat right at the table, adding an interactive and fun element to the meal. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring we had a memorable dining experience. I highly recommend AKA Korean BBQ for great food and a unique dining experience in Eastbourne.

Visited this restaurant on 23rd December, first time trying Korean food and it was absolutely delicious. The idea of cooking the meat at the table by yourself is definitely a nice experience. The restaurant is cozy and lovely with an intimate ambiance that instantly makes you feel comfortable. The cleanliness of the restaurant is also impeccable and the the staff are very welcoming and and accommodating. Very enjoyable experience!

We visited here for the first time today and had the set menu (a) table BBQ. It was very tasty and the service was very friendly. I can highly recommend it. Will definitely be going back to sample more.

Strange oddity: on JustEat app there is another company called ( Flip the Bird ) in the same area who, sells basically, the 'same' items with tiny differences, different colour backgrounds but also have, exactly the (same prices)! Am I and other customers missing something, hmmm🤔Update: 30/10/23 - A number of 'Restaurants' are popping up on JustEat that appear to be 'Same Location ( Street ), Same products with marginal price differences, don't be fooled by them, Flip the Bird/Seoul Chicken/Wings & Tings same people!

Really great food! We had the korean fried chicken, honey garlic chicken (very recommended), and I had the yaki soba which was delicious! Really friendly staff too! Will be back

I drove two hours to get here to treat myself on a Saturday night which I’d been looking forward to all week, and after waiting in the queue for nearly ten minutes and watching them seat people behind me who didn’t have a booking (as well as those who did) they finally looked at me and proceeded to immediately turn away because I was alone. I gently explained that I drove two hours and really wanted to eat here (and would probably spend more than two people as I was super hungry and wanted to take food home), but she did not care at all and told me to leave. I asked if I could just do takeout and she said no, it was too late at 7pm; which is not only absurd but directly contradicts the fact they were still accepting orders on deliveroo. I waited outside figuring out what to do, fortunately a group of people saw this and let me sit with them. I sat down and looked at the menu and but was so disturbed by the staff’s behaviour that I could not bring myself to give them my service. The food at this point looked completely unappetising. Utterly utterly disappointing that someone can treat a fellow human with such lack of empathy or compassion.

When I made the booking the lady on the phone was very polite, when we arrived at the restaurant the waitress was extremely friendly and charming. It was very clean and there was plenty of space at our table. The flavour of the Korean BBQ sauce was delicious, it was very easy to cook the meat on the hot grill. I would say the portions were small for two people, if had been with my partner he would not have felt he had eaten enough. I do think if you add 10% service charge to the bill you need to consider the size of your portions as the bill came to £59. A free korean tea or coffee could add value . I think you might lose out and it would be a shame as the flavours are great.

Very small portions for the price

It’s ok but just ok. The food is nice but very over priced. I paid £12.90 for 4 pork belly slices for the bbq. They were 4cm x 3cm and 1 cm deep. They came with nothing. Spring onion,£3.90 extra lettuce £3.90 extra so nearly £23 for a main course of lettuce, spring onion and a small amount of pork! For this reason I won’t be returning, nothing made me feel valued as a customer

Tasty food, but overall a disappointing, bizarre experience. We thought it expensive - £60 for a barbecue set for 2 people, £5.90 for a small beer. The young staff, although smiling were so unhelpful. We asked whether the first beer in the list Cass was Korean, the waitress said she didn’t know, she later returned and said it was. Our food arrived quickly. We asked what the starters were and were told they were whatever was in our barbecue set. The main course dishes quickly followed. We asked what everything was and received little explanation, either the staff didn’t know or couldn’t be bothered to explain. At no point did they explain how we were supposed to cook the food on the table-top barbecue. Fortunately we had eaten Korean before so knew what to do, for people who have never tried this before, obviously this is not the restaurant to go to. We asked for more lettuce leaf wraps (there was a lot of meat and fish), we were told they charged extra for these (£3.90). The dessert in our barbecue set was 2 scoops of ice cream, we were a bit shocked to receive them both in one bowl with 2 spoons, the ice cream wasn’t anything special, so this seemed bizarre cost-cutting. The bill arrived, 10% service charge had been added. We asked for this to be removed as we felt we hadn’t been well served by the staff. We will not return.

I have been here on 16th July and DISSAPOINTED. I used to been here when it was K-star and its ok. Now when I back to Eastbourne i want to try again even my friend told me should try Thai food instead. I know this restaurant is expensive but does not matter if the food worth. 1. So, we did order a Ttetokbokki added cheese, but it came with no cheese. When we ask the staff check with kitchen she brought back to kitchen and pour some mozzarella on top with no melted ( literally just like bough something from Tesco and put on top). 2. The price is expensive compared to quality of food. I can even cook at home! Never comeback here again 3. I still give them 2 star as hopefully they can bring the better service to another customer. I recently had the pleasure of trying Aka Korean BBQ in Eastbourne, and I must say, I highly recommend their fried chicken! I decided to order some take away, opting for both the normal fried chicken and the sweet/spicy chicken. Not only was the portion size generous, but the taste was also exceptional. The fried chicken had a perfect crispy exterior, while the sweet/spicy chicken had a delightful balance of flavors. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness that left us wanting more. Overall, Aka Korean BBQ exceeded my expectations with their fried chicken. The value for money is outstanding, and the taste is simply fantastic. If you're in the mood for some mouthwatering fried chicken, I highly recommend giving Aka Korean BBQ a try. You won't be disappointed!

Nice food - good options. Quite pricey - and with a 10% service charge added on at the end for an extra (kick in the teeth) surprise! For me that definitely pushed it into the category of been there, tried it, don't need to go back.

My second visit after a disappointing first visit a few months ago - thought I should give it another chance. But my experience was the same as the first. Very poor service - the two front of house staff looked embarrassed to be there and reluctant to take our order. One dish didn’t arrive but we had no opportunity to point this out as the staff were either hiding in the kitchen or scurrying past us. We were charged for this and no apology came with the rectified bill. The food was mediocre - the batter on the chicken was soggy, as I had experienced with the tempura on my first visit. Why did I go back?! Other diners seemed to be enjoying their barbecue experience which was nice to see. Personally I don’t see the point of paying to cook my own food, but clearly some folk like this idea. Would have been 4 stars, I've been here a few times and have enjoyed the experience and recommended it to others. But today's visit was disappointing. We were served by a guy who had absolutely no idea, No welcome, just stood there and hardly spoke. Only told us what wasn't available when we asked. Brought in starters advising us one wasn't available, so we ate out of sync when a rushed second choice was brought out. Brought food we didn't ask for. Had to ask for drinks and if he would remove empties from the table. There's more, I would say it was the worst service I've experienced in a long time. Food was so so. They must have been having some staff issues as we recommend this place to others.

Food was delicious, but difficult to eat as bowls were full of broth in hot bowls. I ended up with red staines all over my top. A bit too much broth, could be more concentrated. Never the less it was delicious.

VERY expensive but super authentic tasty food . I didn’t order as a fussy vegan but they had options . My partner chose a tofu bibimbap dish and it’s served sizzling in a hot stone bowl looked very impressive

After the motorbike tour at Beachy Head, we were craving a pizza at the Dom. After I finished dinner, on the way to the parking lot, my fiance also wanted some chicken seen in the window picture at AKA. We went in to eat that chicken and we were not sorry. I left that restaurant with a promise to repeat the visit the next day. And so I did!!! A pleasant place, with very good food, for all tastes but a little very spicy! It's worth visiting!!!!!

Our Daughter ate there yesterday and told us to go as it was amazing. We really did have an absolutely amazing time. The food was first class. The service was very good. We order a BBQ set A1, Dragon roll sushi and Yaki Soba noodles and Korean ginseng tea. We were not disappointed. We will be visiting again.

Ordered seafood and tofu stew. it came with very poor quality . and No prawn and mussle inside , it was totally diffrrent from their display picture on the menu. It looked just soya paste soup which costed me £13.99. 😡

What a shame! As Koja restaurant this was a really good place with excellent food, which we visited on a number of occasions. As so often happens however the change of management has been detrimental. We were asked to sit with our backs to the door and facing a large UPS box blocking the other side of the table in spite of the fact that other tables were available and remained unoccupied for the duration of our meal. My speaking Korean changed nothing. My so bulgogi was mediocre and my wife's bibimbap with chicken frankly pretty bad. Another one to cross off the list.

I can't help myself I love the food here

Total rip off price for random sized portions and very average asia food. On entering the staff was nice and friendly. Was seated on a nice table then to find the table was dirty and sticky. Requested table to be cleaned. We ordered 3 set of sushi's and a bowl of Korean soup. Salmon roll set was tiny barely any salmon.. Instant disappointment. I understand ingredient price has gone up but this was stingy.. Next set sushi was dragon roll, which was decent sized when it is the same price to the salmon (see photo), however the deep fried prawn in the roll did not taste nice. There was a very bad off oil taste.. Like the oil was not fresh. Again disappointed. Next set Rainbow rolls this admittingly was decent, good size, mixture topping including eel which is the more expensive ingredient, this Rainbow was decent and good value. Lastly the so called Korean beef soup.. On presenting I couldn't even see the beef.. I check the bottom to find 4-5 thin sliced beef only...come on this was 14 quid dish... My partner tried it and it was tasteless. I expected a nice broth and decent amount of meat for the price... When asked for the bill I noticed a 10% service charge... A service charge to serve food to 2 person??? Seriously?? I feel robbed by this place and do not recommend neither food or value. I have eaten Korean /sushi restaurants in New Molten and Manchester which are miles better. It is night and day. I do not recommend this place and highly recommend you go elsewhere. Clearly I will not be revisiting. Worst experience

Very good food (we had the bibimbap and jjampong), quick and good service as well! Would definitely recommend.

This place is a must try for aisian food enjoyers! We treated ourselves to a tapas style dinner which all came out very hot and fresh. We had tteokbokki with cheese, veg mandu, barbecue beef bulgogi and our favorite, chicken kkanpunggj. The alcohol was quite expensive, but the food was well priced. Overall, can't recommend this place enough!

Ah, what a lovely evening meal we had at this venue. Lots to choose from on the menu, friendly staff and tasty food - the ultimate trio! We opted to share the Beef Udon, the half and half Korean chicken and a Dragon Roll. Plenty for 2 hungry people! We will definitely be returning in the future.

We stumbled across this restaurant and were so glad we did! The food was incredible and the service was amazing. The staff were so warm and welcoming. I had the bento box and my husband had a soup - both were so flavoursome and delicious!

I sued to go there when it was still KStar, thought of giving it a try because I miss the food from K Star, if you're going to compare the food from the previous, I'm sad to say that Aka doesn't come close. It doesn't have that ump. It's a bit bland for me

I really love this place. Great for authentic Korean food, good bento style set dishes and don't be intimidated by the price of the barbecue sets, they are based on two sharing and are very good value for money. Sometimes the quality is inconsistent - when the head chef / owner is in (which is almost always), the food is excellent. When he's not, the food is still good, but lacks a certain finesse. But it's great to have a proper Korean restaurant in town, and whether you get the bibimbap or the full barbecue set, it's worth the money.

We have been eyeing this restaurant for a long time and finally we went for Mother’s Day celebration. We had bentos, BBQ and other dishes. The beef in BBQ were amazing! Bento portions were huge with variety of food. We will definitely come back to try other dishes we did get to eat! I love the plum tea!
