Quirky authentic English pub. Two entrances, one to the bar and one to the other bar! 🤣, Open between 12 and 3pm. Real fire makes it welcoming on a cold day, squish together on the benches and get to know the locals. Owners very welcoming, we sat next to their family members and had a lovely chat, been in the same family for 90 years or so. It was the chaps 80th birthday. Dogs welcome. Homemade meals on the menu, we had rare beef sandwiches that were very plentiful, along with locally made wine (surprisingly good) and beer from kegs (again, very good). CAMRA. The pub is filled with memorabilia, outside you could purchase plants for charity, you could even purchase old pennies! There are lots of nooks and crannies outside where you can huddle in your groups and enjoy the gardens. Need to take cash as no cards taken, plus the toilets are in the building over the lane from the pub! Thankfully, the toilets have loo roll rather than authentic cut up newspaper! Highly recommended, a very hidden gem that takes you back in time.

Great friendly, chatty staff, cosy seating and lovely sandwiches. Healthy portions and the chips were epic pub chips! They made our table feel so welcome- especially having two children with us and we had such a lovely time here. Can’t wait to come back.

Very disappointed with the meal I had last night 14/2/24. The meal portions were pathetic not even child portions but definitely adult prices. I had fish and chips. The fish was tiny and far too much batter. My friend had burger there was no salad or garnish. Both dishes had very few chips and we had to ask for an extra portion of chips which we were charged for. Not up to this pubs usual standard and I will not recommend it again or visit it again. What a pity as it was so great when it reopened last year. Ann Daniels Privett

Lovely pre-Christmas lunch with friends. Very accommodating regarding menu choices, swaps, allergies etc. 4 star marking for food as there were a few items that were not available. Charlotte, our server, was cheerful and attentive without being overbearing.

Had a lovely meal here, plus 2 breakfasts. The dinner was served by Michelle who went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great meal. Thank you!

Comfortable stay disappointing not to have been informed that a cooked breakfast was extra. Continental breakfast was included.

Disappointing. We usually come here in preference to other similar places in the area as the service is usually good. Today was just not acceptable. Waited patiently while two staff members were at the till chatting with an elderly lady customer who it seemed they either knew or may be a regular. No problem with that Next in the queue was a staff member. Again no problem with that, but the two staff members behind the till then had a good laugh, joke and sing song with the third member. What I did have a problem with was waiting for 5 minutes in a place which wasn't particularly busy, without an acknowledgement or any sense of urgency that we were waiting in the queue. Leaving aside the fact that it should only take one person to work the till, I just won't tolerate such poor customer service. We simply left and went elsewhere.

Had a great Sunday lunch with friends, food excellent standard and well worth the money. Looked after by Felix who was very good despite it being extremely busy and looked after us well. 3rd visit here and never disappointed, will definitely return soon.
