Love this place. Selection of teas is great and amazing atmosphere. Good food too

This was my sons 40th birthday and when the waitress came over to take our order the first thing she said was has anyone told you yet what is off the menu, she then proceeded to reel off a list inc most of our choices. Took ages to come and then was not very nice. The two kids meals were fine and the schnitzel but the steak sandwich had bled into the bread making it soggy and inedible and my sons burger bun was so dry it went into crazy paving as he tried to pick it up. Seats were sunken and uncomfortable and it was so cold in there that we had to collect the kids coats from the car. Service charge mandatory on bill so I hope our lovely but stressed waitress got a share

Always use this pub when in the area as its convenient. Just finished placing my late fathers ashes on this occasion. So we we're in local area. Staff were very welcoming again. Some of them here know us well. Timing a visit to this pub has to be planned. 1430 and pub was fairly full. Getting it right you will find plenty of seats and tables. Always had good service here and good value food wise. Will continue to use in the future.

Visited this pub on the way back to London and loved it! It’s very big inside with a varied menu. We had the schnitzel special and it was lovely. The car park is big and the outside area has plenty of space too. The staff here are wonderful - super friendly, efficient and helpful. I would definitely recommend it.

We could order a cheese burger, but not a burger without cheese. Got told complain to head office - helpful. No other dairy free options so we had to leave. Very disappointing.

Food and service were excellent.

Avoid at all cost if you have any form of food intolerance/allergy - I would give zero stars if I could. We visited on the way back from Sussex, hoping for a drink and a nice meal. However, the staff member on duty insisted that my husband gave full details of his (mild) dairy intolerance in front of all the other costumers at the bar (wholly inappropriate and probably quite embarrassing for them) and then refused to sell him any food. Since we didn’t want to just sit and drink, we ended up leaving - hungry and with most of our drinks untouched (which, btw, were extortionately expensive). Strong recommendation - go down the road to The Fox at Bramdean. They couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful (and the food was great). We won’t be visiting the Seven Stars again - nor any other Hall & Woodhouse pub if they all behave in the same way.

Service was awful. Sunday roast cost nearly £20 very expensive, it was dry, cold, I started writing this review but realised it would take all day as there was so much to write. I did get a refund

Great ambience cheerful staff and good food. Go early it gets busy hence the large car park.

2 half pints of lemonade for £6. Fair enough but it wasn’t from the gun but from room temperature 2L bottles sitting on the bar top and had gone flat. No explanation and waitress just looked bored. Maybe we just came at a bad time.

TVR members enjoyed another great evening, all our meals came out in a timely manner, and were delicous. Great food, lovely friendly atmosphere, our members all enjoyed our evening Charlote and her team looked after us admirably, thankyou.

A lovely meal had here. The steak was cooked to perfection, and so to was the pork belly. Finished with a pint of Tanglefoot.

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Food was average. Gluten free and vegetarian options were poor and a bit disappointing, especially given the prices.

£17.75 for fish and chips Looked amazing when it came out but hardly any fish inside the batter and the smallest pot , which equated to a spoonfull of what was supposed to be mushy peas The best part of the meal was the small amount of chips and tartar sauce Unfortunately £196 not well spent Probably the last visit which is a shame as we have history with the e seven stars

Lovely pub, amazing outdoor area for dogs with shade, a lawn, patio etc so lots of choice for seating just 5 mins from Petersfield - food was elevated pub food, fantastic roasts with very quick service. Highly recommend

I feel the need to write this as a £60 meal for 2 needs to be better than this. Average pub food needs to be priced lower I'm afraid. The steak at £30 was average....and my partners mediterranean tartlet was the saddest looking (and tasting) meal I've seen in a pub for quite a while...she's now sat at home eating a £1.50 Aldi Cheese quiche because its more appealing than the sad item served up here at 15 times the price. I know pubs are struggling to survive but its no surprise when serving food like this. I'll admit Its not so much the poor quality but the price attached to it. Just really really poor value. *disclaimer....the tartlet was sent back but still arrived back very unappetising. *Update....the reply below puts into context why the meal wasn't great. No offer of anything unlike the other bad reviews. Won't be back.

Excellent. A great pub with brilliant service. A bug shout out to our lovely server Charlotte for looking after us so well. She went above and beyond. Very good pub garden for summer evenings.

Me and my boyfriend have just left the Seven Stars and well, it was not seven stars. We each had a roast and it just was so tasteless. £18 each for a pork roast and well it was awful..I never write reviews but this deserves one, the pork was dry as anything, the gravy tasted of water, I could go on. There actually wasn’t one positive to our meal as I had ordered a strawberry gin and lemonade and it tasted like they had put tonic in. So I asked if I could have the gin with lemonade instead…the waitress was nice and just came back and said they had sorted it but it tasted the exact same. We heard others complaining about their lemonade too, so clearly there was an issue with it..We spend £40 overall for something that was just awful. Stay clear.

Stopped off for lunch on the way to Winchester. Food was fairly typical pub fare in terms of choice but well cooked and promptly delivered. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Certainly worth stopping here for lunch.

Nice pub but £4.50 for a pint of coke??? Really?????

Ordered Moules Frites. Modules were leathery and Frites were simply awful and mostly inedible. The bread side for dipping in the sauce was stale. The mackerel pate starter was not a lot better. 4 of us at the meal and the only one that had a good meal ordered fish and chips.

You can’t beat this wonderful pub restaurant for a sociable meal

Very helpful staff. Food delicious. The staff loved our dogs and provided a bowl of water and biscuits without having to ask.

Booked as we fancied the Red Snapper special advertised on their website-not available. Ordered whitebait starter-very high baked. Steak frites ordered for main, one skinny chips and one triple cooked chips got two skinny chips. Steak was very char grilled, so much so that all we could taste was the bitter charred surface. Decided to pass on the pud. Eventually got the bill but ended up going to the bar to pay after no one came to take the payment. Apart from Tracey the staff appeared disinterested and not particularly friendly. Didn’t seem to know the menu-“I’ve not been here long”. Very disappointing as this was a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Well, what can I say? Must’ve been very bad time because the food was absolutely awful. I went for the Pork belly looked really nice and presentable when it came out but it was really really tough struggle to cut it with a knife and the roast veg did not have any flavour whatsoever My wife went for a salmon and that was very hard and tough and dry. You could tell it been there for sometime because the source had a film thick film on top. Moving onto my daughter something basic and simple because she is only five chips with chicken goujons chicken goujons were more like baseball bats they were so hard and dry very disappointed all round

I couldn't ask for more, great food, great menu, lovely beer, and excellent service, will and Charlotte were exceptional, the place was all round great, Inc car parking and outside seating on grass! Bonus. Well worth a visit when in the area, I can't wait til I'm there again.

Staff, especially Donna, are always welcoming and friendly. The pub is clean, well maintained and cosy despite its size. Dogs, especially Simba, are always welcomed.

We visited this place on Sunday for a roast dinner, we were served quickly and the food was really nice, plenty of vegetables and roast potatoes, I had the chicken. You got a little pit of gravy alongside it, the Yorkshire pudding was massive well worth the money and the pub is beautiful. If you're going that way pop in for some food.

Lovely Sunday roasts. Very nicely cooked. nice tasting veg and meat. I'd have liked mine to be served hotter. But did not effect the taste.

Lovely country pub.large dining areas and seating outdoors.sadly the kitchen wasn't open ,as the sharer platter sounded tasty...Will have to go back and try it!!

A delicious meal and needed to break our lo g drive.

Went for a meal tonight 6pm. Plenty of room and very dog friendly (had 2 with us) Order at the bar, served by Beth. The food was hot, very good quality well cooked considering we were between traditional serving hours. Beth also brought the food. I must commend her for being one of the friendliest young server's that we have seen any where for quite some while.

Having eaten here numerous times over the years in the way back from FoS I had high expectations for a Sunday dinner. What a mistake. Not sure if it’s new chef / owners but I’ve had better meals at spoons! The meals arrived cold, the beef was like shoe leather and the desert portions miserly and over-priced. Certainly one to avoid!

Beth was a great server, very friendly and cheerful - if dishes weren't available she suggested an alternative - it really was service with a smile. The food came quick and we were all pleased with what we chose, it was all delicious - special mention for the amazing gluten free chocolate brownie.

Had a meal, very average for the price, service very slow. The reason we would not return is, only card payment no cash which is wrong in my eyes, as I like the choice. I know a establishment can except payment how they wish, perhaps they don't trust their staff, one way or another in this day and age I wouldn't wish to turn any business away. Easy to lose business not so easy to get it.

Nice restaurant, food is more pricey than normal local pubs, but the food was good. Not many chips on the side dish for the price, Staff were friendly.

Lovely pub with really nice staff, but unfortunately the food was average at best. For example, the hake was overcooked with soggy skin and served with samphire that had a very strange smokey taste. Too many elements sadly lacked flavour. Perhaps Tuesday night is when the main chef is off?

Excellent service great food friendly staff

Sent food back twice!! The decor and setting is great and expected a great meal to go with it but.. Ordered a chicken roast which arrived within a few minutes of ordering which was a surprise...the food was cold/luke warm to touch, so told waiting staff who took it away, only for our side orders to turn up immediately as the mains were taken away so asked for them to be served at the same time...mains returned within a few minutes again for me to realise it was the same meal but microwaved, spoke to duty manager and asked for fresh food..was given fresh plate of food but it was warm not hot, but by this point given up hope on a hot plate of food...when we went to pay we were asked if the food was ok and did tell duty manager it was not great at all, and wouldn't be returning which is when he removed the cost of the food from the bill, which was appreciated...later that evening and next morning had been left with an upset stomach which is not great when your at work!... Serving staff were quite young and inexperienced so having to deal with complaint raised for poor quality food that came out of the kitchen is awkward for them to have to deal with...won't be returning for a meal any time soon until the kitchen staff/chef sort the standard of food out as £18.95 for a roast and then 2 x sides on top, you would expect alot more for your money, well at least a hot, flavourful meal!!

We were warmly welcomed and the food was very tasty. It was however luke-warm.

Ate there very recently, food was a bitter disappointment. Very small portions, uninspiring and for what you got, very expensive.

The pub wasn't that busy but the service was very slow. Not impressed with the shepherds pie for £18.95. It was small for the price and warm - not hot. Some of my group weren't happy either with their food. Sounds like the steaks were nice.

Very good food and atmosphere. However service was very slow. Deserts came out with gaps even the coffees. Last orders bell was rung before we got deserts. Also I like to give a gratuity of my discretion rather than seeing what I had given on my receipt. In fact the latter two points were mentioned by most of the group sadly.

Such a shame but it was an awful meal at the seven Stars, the service was really slow, we waited 30minutes for a drink and an hour and 45minutes for the main course to arrive. Some food was over cooked and some was undercooked, it wasn't even that busy during the evening. Sadly it did seem overpriced for the food we got. The only decent dinner was the fish and chips

This was a difficult return visit my wife having passed since my last visit, I needn't have worried as usual service and food were first class this is an extremely comfortable Pub you enter and feel at ease, not cheap but then we're is. Pint of Badger and a double cheese burger with fries..£22. But beware, this is a card only outlet. The Seven Stars is well worth a visit trust me you won't be disappointed. It's also dog friendly.

Super unfriendly staff. The manager said we couldn’t order until 12 and then brought out food for another family at 11.40. Said she would get us a highchair then proceeded to ignoring us and serving other people drinks.

No-one to greet us or show us to our table which we had to go and find. We then additional menus as only one provided for 5 of us. We then had to order our meals and drinks at the bar, still not being acknowledged by anyone. Food was average, two steaks tough and chewy

No one showed us to our table. Food arrived after an hour. The steak frites was actually an undercooked poor cut of rump steak (the dogs ended up enjoying it). Pints were flat. Service non-existent and food was awful.

Food was typically pub grub but very tasty nevertheless. Service was polite but maybe a bit slower than you would like, saying that, there were two big family parties in at the time. The atmosphere was good and our party of four enjoyed ourselves without feeling rushed or ignored. We'll done.

Chips were great that were it ends payed 14 quid for seven delicious chips two eggs and ham ???? Packaged Sad sandwich ham. Kids meals looked better. Staff and pub were friendly and clean on a plus.

First class service by all the staff members. Good recommendations regarding the choice of food due to food intolerances. Food was served hot and plenty of it. The bottle of wine was a nice added free bonus. A good price for what we had, i would certainly recommend this pub to anyone looking for good food at the right price in a great location. will certainly go again.

Lovely to see waitress, Charlotte who was very attentive. The pub was fully booked but it was still disappointing to have to wait an hour before receiving our food. We visit quite often and it’s never been this long before. Good food though!!

Had a lovely meal here last week with a good friend . She had the shepherds pie and my the steak pie and both plates were polished off . Very very yummy . I made the waiters laugh as I personally loved the red cabbage sauce hehehe it all complimented one another . I’ll be back again next week with a few more friendly folks. Fantastic food . Long wait for food over an hour late comers served before us food average

Went for a birthday meal and was truly disappointed. Turned up and was stood there waiting to be be seated for 10 minutes before someone came up to us . Once seated the menu was very basic and nothing to shout about especially for prices . We only ordered mains and they took 45 minutes for 4 mains to come out of the kitchen and not only were they small but they were not as hot as they should of been . We asked for the dessert menu only to be forgotten about so after a further 10 minutes of waiting for that we had to ask a different server . Will add main waiter we had was good . So all in all poor service, small meals , overpriced and lack of selection.

Good burgers, attentive staff. Enjoyed the food. Had the steak and venison bouginion this time and enjoyed both.

The staff were great, food was great, atmosphere was calming, little disappointed with the menu availability but we soon found something to enjoy!

Only disappointing thing for me was that my fish and chip meal was very overcooked and dry. The manager was very apologetic though and altered our bill accordingly. Worth a second chance to be fair.

How incredibly disappointing 😞 we have visited this pub many times and always had some really tasty and enjoyable food with good service. I don't know what happened today but we sadly had the complete opposite. For starters we had to wait at the bar whilst being ignored so the bar staff could finish their personal conversation. When we ordered the food (a cold meat platter so no cooking required) we had to chase where it was after 40 mins. It was given to us almost immediately so had clearly been sat waiting for someone to serve it. Then to add further insult we received our food. Just shy of £17 we got 4 peices (not whole slices) of bread, 6 slices of cold meat, 7 olives, a bit of salad and a small pot of butter and even smaller pot of onion relish. Over priced hugely and not up to the standard we have previously received . The atmosphere was nice as always other than other diners asking also where their food was. Won't hurry back

Meal was cold Potatoes did not taste like roasties. Minimal yegtables. the worst Sunday lunch we have had in 54 years of marriage.The beef was inedible, full of gristle, under- coooked .

Have always loved this place however I'm less keen to return now after my visit a few weeks ago. Food is now really expensive and portions are small which is sad as this was never the case previously and I grew up near by so visited frequently. I sent a message to them after my visit to explain why I was disappointed but no one has replied. I found £4 for 9 chips quite a horrendous price. Its also worth noting that trying to order a small bite to eat on a Sunday is almost impossible. The Sunday menu is main meals, roasts or sides so doesn't leave a lot of option for those wanting a light bite. The food was tasty but seemed very over priced. Some party members ordered the soup as only wanted a light lunch but when it turned up, it was only half a portion. The staff did agree it wasn't acceptable and refunded the cost but did point out that the portions were set out by head office meaning there was nothing they could do about it. However, the staff were really good and the atmosphere was lovely.

Great country pub, the food was very good and not too expensive, the service was a little slow as it didn't seem too busy but otherwise fine. Staff were friendly and helpful, my only criticism is that cash is not accepted and I feel you should always have the choice so that would put me off going back which is a shame as it was a decent spot

Lovely pub, great food, excellent service

We booked a table for Valentines having been here once before. The Manager and her staff were very attentive, particularly to my wife who has certain food allergies. I cannot thank them enough and highly recommend the bar and restaurant..

Service was slow but we were with friends so not a problem. Food was good and staff friendly
