Food great and our waitress Beth was fantastic

Very small portions and mediocre quality for extortionate prices. Paired with having chunks of plastic in the desert. And servers who took over 1:20 hours to come over. Would not recommend.

Vegan nourishing bowl, sweet potato falafel and Sri Lankan curry were very good. Very rare to find vegan options that are colourful and not full of oil and salt. Great spacious dog area. Very professional and friendly staff. Clean and modern toilets. Great location. Easy booking process. We definitely recommend it!

Expensive for sub par food but can’t fault the service.

We all enjoying the afternoon just with a drink. On this occasion. We then moved off of our unreserved table and told this was eating area. This was not the restaurant side. We then exchanged with the dinning couple to table by the bar. The couple did not know what was happening either. Won't be coming back for a while. Very rude.

I was at the Seven Stars for a family meal for my daughter who was home from New Zealand after a year's absence. We had varied dishes and all we're very happy with the quality and temperature of the meals. Our waitress (Sofia?). Looked after us with 3 checks to see if we needed anything. It was busy'ish but the food was served promptly and with a smile!

Food was lovely and a very pleasant location with plenty of seating

I had truly brilliant service from Donna, I enjoyed the French pork tomahawk especially it was excellent. Would strongly recommend.

Family lunch for 30 people to celebrate a big birthday. Nice private area at one end of the pub. Everything was handled superbly from the pre-planning and booking through to the event itself. Good food and great service. Very well organised by the pub which meant we were free to enjoy our party. The whole team were helpful and professional but a special shout out to Charlotte who helped us plan it and then looked after us on the day. Thanks for giving us a day to remember. Highly recommended.

The refurb is absolutely STUNNING!!! The service and Team are exceptional. Donna, Steve, Jack and Jack couldn't be more helpful from my many questions and queries, intolerances. No matter what they never make it feel like an issue to deal with me. The food and Drink are lovely with such a wide variety no matter what the mood. Thank you! I'll be back

Newly renovated this is a delightful Pub Restaurant offering good reasonably priced food. Lovely atmosphere and great service. We went on a midweek lunchtime

We visited for lunch, with children and our elderly people. Food was delicious, excellent service, it's really nice to be able to get smaller desserts for our OAP as she doesn't have a huge appetite but still likes to have a dessert! Toilets are clean and tidy, the car park is large so easy to park. Friendly and welcoming staff, Donna has served us on many occasions and is always friendly and attentive. Would recommend and will definitely visit again.

For a reasonably quiet pub on a Saturday evening you'd perhaps expect the service to be fla little more efficient. 40 plus minutes between the starter and the main course struck as being a little long. Having asked a member of staff to please check/ chase the order, a further ten minutes passed before finally receiving our food. First world problems you may think but to then send us food that was at best ok we were left feeling annoyed. Coupled with the fact that the high service charge which actually amounted to us having to enquire about our orders and then having to ask for cutlery left us feeling even more disappointed. Save ya money folks, a takeaway costs you far less. Fantastic makeover by the way which sadly failed to include a refresh of tasty food and staff attitude. We'll give it a miss in future. Shame as it was always a long time favourite of ours.

Very nice location, well presented bar and food. The exterior has a calm, almost beach like atmosphere (the sun was shining), which all helped to create a very relaxed visit.

Nice pub friendly staff but the waiting time for the food wasn't acceptable, we waited over an hour and in the end i asked if they had forgotten us! The kitchen needs either more staff or re-organising! The food itself was ok ish, my Mum's Tuscan sausage ragu wasn't what we expected, all pasta hardly any sausage hence too expensive. Real shame, was so looking forward to a meal out

What a gem of a pub! If you are in the area then go to this pub. We walked there from our lodgings and were exceptionally lucky with the April weather and got to sit outside but even inside was beautiful and a lovely atmosphere. Staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful, toilets were clean, well behaved dogs allowed, food was amazing. Well worth a visit

Me and my partner both had steak pie, which was lovely. However, the side order of chips was undercooked so badly they were inedible, and the mac and cheese had no flavour it was just like slop in a bowl.

Really lovely. Never been before but selected as midway for family to meet for a 60th birthday. Lovely pub and the food was great. Service was fab and even though half our party was an hour late, due to traffic, there was no issue with keeping the table and waiting etc. Will absolutely come again.

Didn't have what I ordered so had to order something different, lunch time quite quiet this was just after Christmas but nice all the same

Just had a lovely lunch here for my partners birthday. Our waitress was Beth who was super friendly and attentive. Had 3 courses and 2 drinks for £95 which I think was pretty good. Nice not to be rushed between courses and the food was delicious. My partner had the mushroom soup, steak and ale pie and sticky toffee pudding. I had smoked Mackrel pate, chicken supreme and chocolate brownie. Definitely be coming back.

Good selection of drinks, we bought 8 pints between us, the staff were very blunt and unpleasant, didn't feel welcome at all. Didn't stay for food, although I have heard good things

Visited for NYE Beautiful venue , well presented Few key items on the menu not available One of our party ordered the burger and chips , which came with no chips in the pot (poor attention to detail) - requested sauce , which was very small and limited. Steak was also poorly cooked vs request Wasn’t checked in with through the meal - until all was over to clear away (very quick and rushed) - staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there So , just had main , paid and left to grab dessert elsewhere Not a great NYE meal

Beautiful location but food awful. First 2 choices were off the menu. One meal came out 15 minutes before the others. Potatoes were dry and overcooked. Burger had cold chips. Desserts served on ice cold plates cooling them too quickly.

Lovely looking Pub but we unfortunately had very slow service despite the restaurant not being busy and plenty of staff. Staff were more interested in talking to each other. Food was lacking finesse given the price points. Wouldn’t recommend. (£120 for two courses, 3 adults, 1 child)

Fantastic location and big inside. Great for big tables, dogs and kids. Lovely gastro style pub inside with roaring fires everywhere but lots of space. Sadly my soup was cold and they seem short staffed but I am definitely going back

Really nice pub/restaurant. Sunday roast was excellent. Huge portions and very well cooked. Staff are also very welcoming and friendly. There is plenty of parking and easy to get to, literally mins from A3.

Lovely pre-Christmas lunch with friends. Very accommodating regarding menu choices, swaps, allergies etc. 4 star marking for food as there were a few items that were not available. Charlotte, our server, was cheerful and attentive without being overbearing.

Sunday roast. Food tasted nice but it was luke warm and part of our order was missing. No check back. The eating area was cold as well. At no point did any ask if we were ok. Shame. We won’t be returning. Much better places around.

I had one of the nicest steaks i have had in a while. My wife had one of the worst burgers she has ever had she said a mcdonalds would of been better and she hates mcdonalds. The burgers were skinny and dry not gourmet at all, roll was still frozen. Assistant manager was good and fair did not charge us for the burger. Because of that will go back again. Such a shame as its a great place. 🎅

Limited availability of food allegedly on the Sunday menu and what was on wasn't very appetising. The duck confit was dry as a bone and the Yorkshire puddings were mahogany brown.The place was half empty 2 weeks before Christmas. It didn't make for the jolliest of Christmas dos.

Went 21st Dec so busy with Xmas lunches, got table in bar, friendly staff but unfortunately both our steak frites were raw not medium as requested, steaks not rested as lots of blood on plate. The staff were very helpful and changed without question, but yet again one of the steaks was still bloody and raw. To top this the bill had an extra pint of morretti on it. The staff apologised and refunded the cost of pint plus a bit more for steak. The refund was contactless which actually did not go through so 7 Stars you owe me a pint next time I’m in!! I gave 4 stars because staff were friendly, helpful with great atmosphere. Not sure about kitchen!!

Avoid at all costs for your Christmas meal. You will be charged £35 a head for miniscule portions of extremely low quality food, accompanied by completely disinterested and unwelcome service from the waiting staff. Appalling, we will not be returning.

A lovely meal. Two turkey lunches and a vegan meal. Great Christmas decorations. Our server Beth was delightful and made the visit.

zero care for guests, ordered drinks at one time - two delivered, next 7 after about 20 minutes. You go around and ask. Nobody checked if the food was ok. Nobody took the dirty plates and glasses. You ask, ask and ask. For such prices the service should be great. Lack of staff. Once a month we go to the restaurant with friends. We always leave a few hundred pounds. Here. First and last time.Praise only for the chefs, because the food was delicious. The service is lower than McDonald's

First visit for a family lunch. Great food and service, lovely atmosphere.

4 of us went here last minute without a booking for a Sunday roast. Was very busy and front of house were really helpful getting us the last table. Food was lovely and for the price what you would expect. Staff couldn't be nicer and there was a nice buzz about the place.

The food and premises live up to expectations. What rankled was the huge number of house flies that buzzed every window, plate, and glass. Something needs to be done about this infestations.

Lovely buildings and really friendly and attentive (young) staff. The food (on a Sunday) was however nothing to write home about.

Nice country pub with great food. We had roast and few other nibbles. Prices are in line with what you'd expect from places like this. Had a great time.

Had a lovely Sunday roast with my Dad and my son (and son's dog). My son had the vegetarian option and was very impressed. Unusually, my Dad, age 90, had no complaints 😉.

My boyfriend and I had a really nice date in this lovely pub. I'm vegan, so I always need to ask to be sure about the food and PB (plant based) instead of VG (vegan) can be a bit misleading. Our waitress Molly was very attentive and nice. We thought the starter was overpriced but it tasted really nice and the rest of the food was delicious too. We would appreciate to have been told about the service charge as this is now common and in my opinion a cheeky practice to put on the bill without mentioning it. We had a lovely time overall and would recommend, thank you :-)

This was my sons 40th birthday and when the waitress came over to take our order the first thing she said was has anyone told you yet what is off the menu, she then proceeded to reel off a list inc most of our choices. Took ages to come and then was not very nice. The two kids meals were fine and the schnitzel but the steak sandwich had bled into the bread making it soggy and inedible and my sons burger bun was so dry it went into crazy paving as he tried to pick it up. Seats were sunken and uncomfortable and it was so cold in there that we had to collect the kids coats from the car. Service charge mandatory on bill so I hope our lovely but stressed waitress got a share

Always use this pub when in the area as its convenient. Just finished placing my late fathers ashes on this occasion. So we we're in local area. Staff were very welcoming again. Some of them here know us well. Timing a visit to this pub has to be planned. 1430 and pub was fairly full. Getting it right you will find plenty of seats and tables. Always had good service here and good value food wise. Will continue to use in the future.

Visited this pub on the way back to London and loved it! It’s very big inside with a varied menu. We had the schnitzel special and it was lovely. The car park is big and the outside area has plenty of space too. The staff here are wonderful - super friendly, efficient and helpful. I would definitely recommend it.

We could order a cheese burger, but not a burger without cheese. Got told complain to head office - helpful. No other dairy free options so we had to leave. Very disappointing.

Food is overpriced for the quality, service is pretty poor, would not return.

Friendly and efficient staff. Delicious food and coped well with requests to tweak main course. Made us feel very welcome will definitely be going back.

Avoid at all cost if you have any form of food intolerance/allergy - I would give zero stars if I could. We visited on the way back from Sussex, hoping for a drink and a nice meal. However, the staff member on duty insisted that my husband gave full details of his (mild) dairy intolerance in front of all the other costumers at the bar (wholly inappropriate and probably quite embarrassing for them) and then refused to sell him any food. Since we didn’t want to just sit and drink, we ended up leaving - hungry and with most of our drinks untouched (which, btw, were extortionately expensive). Strong recommendation - go down the road to The Fox at Bramdean. They couldn’t have been nicer and more helpful (and the food was great). We won’t be visiting the Seven Stars again - nor any other Hall & Woodhouse pub if they all behave in the same way.

Service was awful. Sunday roast cost nearly £20 very expensive, it was dry, cold, I started writing this review but realised it would take all day as there was so much to write. I did get a refund

Great ambience cheerful staff and good food. Go early it gets busy hence the large car park.

2 half pints of lemonade for £6. Fair enough but it wasn’t from the gun but from room temperature 2L bottles sitting on the bar top and had gone flat. No explanation and waitress just looked bored. Maybe we just came at a bad time.

TVR members enjoyed another great evening, all our meals came out in a timely manner, and were delicous. Great food, lovely friendly atmosphere, our members all enjoyed our evening Charlote and her team looked after us admirably, thankyou.

A lovely meal had here. The steak was cooked to perfection, and so to was the pork belly. Finished with a pint of Tanglefoot.

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Food was average. Gluten free and vegetarian options were poor and a bit disappointing, especially given the prices.

£17.75 for fish and chips Looked amazing when it came out but hardly any fish inside the batter and the smallest pot , which equated to a spoonfull of what was supposed to be mushy peas The best part of the meal was the small amount of chips and tartar sauce Unfortunately £196 not well spent Probably the last visit which is a shame as we have history with the e seven stars

Lovely pub, amazing outdoor area for dogs with shade, a lawn, patio etc so lots of choice for seating just 5 mins from Petersfield - food was elevated pub food, fantastic roasts with very quick service. Highly recommend

I feel the need to write this as a £60 meal for 2 needs to be better than this. Average pub food needs to be priced lower I'm afraid. The steak at £30 was average....and my partners mediterranean tartlet was the saddest looking (and tasting) meal I've seen in a pub for quite a while...she's now sat at home eating a £1.50 Aldi Cheese quiche because its more appealing than the sad item served up here at 15 times the price. I know pubs are struggling to survive but its no surprise when serving food like this. I'll admit Its not so much the poor quality but the price attached to it. Just really really poor value. *disclaimer....the tartlet was sent back but still arrived back very unappetising. *Update....the reply below puts into context why the meal wasn't great. No offer of anything unlike the other bad reviews. Won't be back.

Excellent. A great pub with brilliant service. A bug shout out to our lovely server Charlotte for looking after us so well. She went above and beyond. Very good pub garden for summer evenings.

Me and my boyfriend have just left the Seven Stars and well, it was not seven stars. We each had a roast and it just was so tasteless. £18 each for a pork roast and well it was awful..I never write reviews but this deserves one, the pork was dry as anything, the gravy tasted of water, I could go on. There actually wasn’t one positive to our meal as I had ordered a strawberry gin and lemonade and it tasted like they had put tonic in. So I asked if I could have the gin with lemonade instead…the waitress was nice and just came back and said they had sorted it but it tasted the exact same. We heard others complaining about their lemonade too, so clearly there was an issue with it..We spend £40 overall for something that was just awful. Stay clear.

Stopped off for lunch on the way to Winchester. Food was fairly typical pub fare in terms of choice but well cooked and promptly delivered. Service was excellent and the staff very friendly. Certainly worth stopping here for lunch.

Ordered Moules Frites. Modules were leathery and Frites were simply awful and mostly inedible. The bread side for dipping in the sauce was stale. The mackerel pate starter was not a lot better. 4 of us at the meal and the only one that had a good meal ordered fish and chips.

You can’t beat this wonderful pub restaurant for a sociable meal

Very helpful staff. Food delicious. The staff loved our dogs and provided a bowl of water and biscuits without having to ask.

Well, what can I say? Must’ve been very bad time because the food was absolutely awful. I went for the Pork belly looked really nice and presentable when it came out but it was really really tough struggle to cut it with a knife and the roast veg did not have any flavour whatsoever My wife went for a salmon and that was very hard and tough and dry. You could tell it been there for sometime because the source had a film thick film on top. Moving onto my daughter something basic and simple because she is only five chips with chicken goujons chicken goujons were more like baseball bats they were so hard and dry very disappointed all round

Booked as we fancied the Red Snapper special advertised on their website-not available. Ordered whitebait starter-very high baked. Steak frites ordered for main, one skinny chips and one triple cooked chips got two skinny chips. Steak was very char grilled, so much so that all we could taste was the bitter charred surface. Decided to pass on the pud. Eventually got the bill but ended up going to the bar to pay after no one came to take the payment. Apart from Tracey the staff appeared disinterested and not particularly friendly. Didn’t seem to know the menu-“I’ve not been here long”. Very disappointing as this was a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

I couldn't ask for more, great food, great menu, lovely beer, and excellent service, will and Charlotte were exceptional, the place was all round great, Inc car parking and outside seating on grass! Bonus. Well worth a visit when in the area, I can't wait til I'm there again.
