After ordering we spent 40 minutes waiting for our appetisers and only 1 of 5 occupied tables actually getting food in that time. The waitress came over at the 40 minute point and wanted to confirm the order. At which point I got up and confirmed with the kitchen if they are now starting our order. To which I was told the chicken takes 30 minutes and it would be with us soon, while looking over their shoulder to see our appetisers hitting the grill. I then told them don't bother I want a refund. The pepsi tasted watered down and the place was cold with people keeping their outdoor jackets on. Given a full refund. My opinion from what I've seen here for a copycat Nando's is they are more interested in online takeaway orders that footfall through the door.

We had our meal as a takeaway so I wasn't expecting it to be as good as in the restaurant but.......The chicken wraps (plain) were stuffed full of chicken which was dry and chewy! Very little mayo and virtually no lettuce, nothing else. I was expecting a crunchy salad and it to be nice and moist. Definitely not. I also ordered 3 crispy wings (medium). Nothing crispy at all about these, just soaked in a runny sauce which nearly blew my head off and I would say only just cooked. Couldn't taste any flamin' grill in any of it and apart from the sauce on the wings it was very bland. Also ordered 2 sides - the chips were quite nice, hooray, but the corn was charred and dry. Maybe we caught them on a bad day but I don't think I will be revisiting. I can't imagine this restaurant will last long in Alton if it doesn't drastically improve.

Really disappointed, underwhelming, bland and no flavour! I mean was it even flame grilled? I ordered 5 chicken strips to come in the Hot flavour, with Spicy rice, Peri salted chips and garlic bread. My daughter had 5 chicken wings medium spice, with corn and peri chips. My chicken strips were terrible (see pictures) these were definitely not fresh or flame grilled, they were chewy, wet, rubbery and so bland that I could have eaten paper or tissue and it would have been a better experience. The spicy rice was a joke, again please refer to the picture!! This was some bland yellow coloured rice with no spice and no flavour, it was worse than ready made boil in the bag rice. My daughter said it looks like the school dinner rice but after tasting it, she said it was much worse. The chips to be fair were cooked well, however what I don’t understand is the peri salt. It absolutely ruined the chips, does anyone actually taste and approve these things at Frango Grill? It has a dull lifeless flavour to it like eating a raw spice that you are meant to cook with, like seriously how can you get something so basic, so wrong?? I asked for sauces on the side and I promise you, these tasted of nothing, just a spiced broth with absolutely no flavour, again I stress who in the business taste tested and approved these, terrible. My daughter said the wings were ok though, however for nearly £40 I can think of 50 high street restaurants I’d rather go to and leave a 100% more satisfied! Now I understand why this place is empty on a Friday evening, which is usually one of the busiest times of the week for restaurants. It was depressing and there was no atmosphere or ambience at all. I doubt these guys at Frango’s actually visit the competition, because they really need to do some research in to why competitors like Nandos for example are so successful throughout the UK. I’m sorry Nandos, I will never cheat on you again! This place was Bad, actually it was VERY Bad and please don’t be fooled by the Google reviews, most of those reviews are from 5-6 years ago, when I assume they actually cared and produced better food and quality because whatever they are doing now as a business just isn’t working! Seriously disappointed and I would never be silly enough to visit again and I know I’m Not the only one - Sorry for the bad review Frango Grill, but you really need to do better. Anyway, please see pictures and you’ll understand.

Quite possibly the driest, toughest chicken ive had in a long time. But to be fair the marinade was good. It was quite quiet when we went so it had probably been sitting around a while

This place is incredible and their food is top notch. Staff are super friendly and the chicken is amazing. Service in store is fast and friendly. Only gripe I have is that delivery is slow. After multiple deliveries they all have been fairly slow

Brilliant good, superb portion sizes and is good value for how much food you get. Been here many times and can say it’s better than Nando’s and my favourite restaurant in the area for good food.

The food is great when they are open. Repeatedly they are shut during their opening hours. Very frustrating!

Big fan of a popular peri chicken chain but was blown away by frango grill in Alton. Massive portion of extremely tasty chicken, rice, haloumi and chips. Would definetly recommend a visit.

Great food, again . Chicken, hot hot hot, for two, with sides . This is not breaded frid chicken but lovely spicy quality food.

Great takeaway food, love their chicken wrap and bbq dusted chips. Creamy mash and peas are the best too. Frangos are definitely on a par with that other well known chicken restaurant. :-) This is our favourite takeaway, we choose it over most others in the area.

Frango Grill is clearly not too subtle a reference to another chicken restaurant and the menu is equally reflective. However, do not let that put you off. The food is fantastic and superior to that other restaurant. My whole family agrees on that point. We have been having our new kitchen fitted and so needed to rely on takeaway food for a couple of weeks. After becoming bored with the usual suspects I thought I’d try Frango. The whole family loved it and we’ve quickly become their best customers I’d imagine. I’m a vegetarian so I can’t personally vouch for the chicken but the kids love the choice of spice and my boy demolishes the wings. My wife and I also love the vegetarian options which are delicious and fresh tasting. I think “fresh” is a key word here. Everything tastes so fresh! By the way, chips on the one hand are “basic” but Frango chips are brilliant. Skin on type and especially crispy. With or without the peri spice they are delicious. None of your anaemic floppy chips here. All portion sizes are great as well by the way and the staff couldn’t be more friendly or helpful. I can happily recommend Frango Grill to anyone, even if you are a vegetarian you’ll come away very happy with your food. My only regret is I now have a working kitchen and I have less of an excuse to visit. I hope Frango Grill succeeds, it certainly deserves to.

Honestly, it's essentially a knock-off nandos with perhaps a few improvements and some knock backs. Love the portion size, the starter nachos are fantastic and for only being <4£ is unreal and the portion you get, definitely a starter for 2. The chicken takes a while to come out the kitchen but I believe they cook from fresh so that's understandable Just knocking a a star off for the high price of water as it comes in small bottles and it's like 2£, definitely ask for tap water

Frango Grill. Chicken exceptionale. Plain, mild, we like the extra Hottttt. This is most Chicken, served in our case with Sweet Potato Fries, slaw, and (maybe too much of a treat) starters.Get yourself a table booked and enjoy some fab chicken and a bottle of wine. Great value too.

Friendly staff and service was great timing. The quality of the food and the price was just laughable. Nandos prices when the food wasn’t even that good. I was shocked when I saw the bill.

Always reliable and great customer service

Food was never delivered, no one answered the phone when we tried calling but still took payment. That is theft! Appalling service!

Every single time I have ordered takeaway something’s has been missing for them to say they’ll deliver the rest I’m half an hour. Then again asking for collection give us a time and we go to collect and they tell us it’s been put as delivery and won’t be ready and we have to wait even longer for it. Hair in the food and not food quality at all. Sometimes not even cooked through.

We were initially unsure if this would be as good as Nando’s. It is much much better. The staff are very friendly and you get excellent service. The food portions even for two hungry boys on the children’s menu are huge. The food comes out hot as it is cooked to order and is extremely tasty. Our boys also enjoy the bottomless drinks which are included in the kids menu. We have been back on numerous occasions and everyone we have taken have loved this restaurant. Thank you Frangos

Great prices at lunch time with many lunchtime deals. Main Menu is nothing on Nandos. Staff are kind and attentive. Would recommend.

We were looking for somewhere in Alton for a late lunch and coming across the Frango Grill decided to try it, mostly because they had options a non wheat eater could happily eat. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the service. I had a salad with added chicken (citrus and herb flavoured) with a side of delicious chips. The salad was plentiful and tasty and the chicken also plentiful and succulent. My husband had a burger, chips and peas which he happily ate whilst looking covetously at my salad.We didn't want any dessert, and it wasn't listed on the main menu, however we were asked if we were interested as we prepared to leave.An accidental find but one we would happily return to.

Food was OK food portions were a good size, my chicken breast was very dry though. My Daughter ordered chicken thighs and remarked they were nice and tender. Ordering was a bit haphazard even though the place was not that busy and I had to repeat myself many times and they forgot to bring my drink over. But the worst thing about the whole meal was the air quality inside the restaurant. As soon as I walked in I noticed the place was shrouded in a thin haze of smoke so I made a point of sitting as far away from the grill area as possible, we ate our meal quicker than I would have liked and left without ordering any dessert. Later that evening at home my eyes were so sore and I had to rinse them in water. I asked my Daughter if was okay and she said she was fine, but next morning she too was complaining of sore eyes. They really need to sort out this smoke coming from the grill area it's real nasty and I feel real sorry for the people who work there and breath that air constantly, it can't be good for their health. So this will be my one time only visit and I will only rate it 2 stars.

Food was freshly cooked (took about 30 mins to arrive with restaurant half full). It was really tasty and there were several options for vegetarians. My husband tried some of my vege wrap and he also liked it a lot - although not as much as he enjoyed his beef wrap! The service was excellent until the food was served and it was non-existent after that. The place was immaculately clean but the seating not particularly comfortable (okay at first but not so much after a couple of hours). We could not see any desserts and none were offered. No after dinner coffee was offered either and I got the feeling that they aren’t looking for diners to spend a leisurely evening there. Still, for a casual dining experience in a clean restaurant, with a decent selection to choose from, a friendly atmosphere and scummy, freshly cooked food, it’s a big fat yes from me!

Awesome food; better than the other spicy chicken place.

This was the first time I had paid a visit to this restraunt. Fancied something different as a takeaway. Their menu seems to have a more healthy selection of grilled Chicken and Steak dishes served in buns, wraps or pittas. Salads and veggie options are also available. The food is cooked to order and packed in cardboard containers rather than the foam plastic containers used by many other takeaways. The food is offered to you either plain or spicy and you can choose how hot you want the spice to be. Restraunt was clean and had a good friendly atmosphere. If you want to eat in, there are plenty of tables to sit down at. They also offer a free delivery service, if you spend more than £20 and you live less than 3 miles away. The only criticism I have, is that I found it a little pricey.

Food missing from takeaway order, told it would be added to account. Returned the following day to be treated like a criminal trying to scam them out of a bag of chips and called a liar......

Really poor hygiene, chicken was under cooked, not even grilled. Showed the staff the pink chicken and they just ignored me. Wouldn’t go back again unless you want food poisoning. Really rude staff if I cd give it no stars I would

Better than nandos everyone in the world should know this

We were pleasantly surprised to be able to order a really good healthy meal. Our halloumi salads were delicious and huge. I needn't have asked for dressing on the side as it was olive oil and lemon juice, no added nasties. My added chicken was a generous portion, and we had the best sweet potato chips I have had anywhere.The service was friendly and they were very helpful to my coeliac friend in finding a meal she could eat .All at a very reasonable price. I would recommend!

Had the odd takeaway from here, but never stopped in for dinner. Well last night we did and it was lovely. Food was delicious, the portions are very generous. I even had to take mine home in a doggy bag. The only slight criticism is that the waitress wasn’t very attentive, but it wasn’t so bad that it made us enjoy our experience any less.

Freshly cooked chicken, which means there is a wait, but they tell you up front. Nice restaurant that caters for all, single, couples, families etc.

Absolutely delicious food on a number of occasions. I think I've slowly worked my way around the menu! The staff are always very friendly and attentive and always say hello even when not at work (about town).I frequently pop in for lunch as the lunch deal is so well priced (about £4-5 for a good portion and a drink) and have never had anything I haven't enjoyed.The ONLY downside I can say about this place is that I work above it and I'm tempted in too often!I know that a few people have mentioned the prices are more expensive outside the lunch deal - this is because the portions are larger! Still very competitive when compared to competitors like Nandos (and better quality).

I went Frango Grill for a quick meal as I was in a rush. Reception was friendly. From the time my order was taken to receiving my meal, the whole process was efficient. The service was outstanding. The meal exceeded my expectations.

Food is lovely and fresh, cooked to order and is served hot. The restaurant is nice and quiet with a nice atmosphere and you can also order to takeaway. Time is never a problem and the chicken is finger licking good!!

it seems that the restaurant has a different interpretation of what grilled means than the one that I have. I tried twice in a day to have breast chicken grilled but twice it came looking like cooked and covered with a source that was not tasteful (could not eat it) So not a good experience.

Very strange knock off of Nandos. The place looks smart with nice decor but the food was bad. Rubbish veggie burger. Wouldn't go again if you paid me.

I have been to this restaurant several times and each time has been utterly brilliant. The food is so tasty and offering a great varied menu. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is cooked fresh and is great value for money.

Really good service. Bottomless soft drink. Very good thigh meat, especially in the spicy thigh meat burger I had. The fresh sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had. Mash potato was... mashed potato. Great place for a date! Assuming you both like chicken. Probably not recommended for vegetarians.

I have visited here a few times now and love it. Lovely well conditioned restaurant space, good service, lovely food, great price - we both ate for under £20 - drinks included!

All right for families with small children menu is uninspired and service is OK. Menu was stuck together and food presentation was basic. Price was at the cheaper end of the market. Best described as a down market Nandos.

Four stars for this restaurant because of the value for money. I had one of their lunchtime specials for £3.99. Quarter chicken, chips and orange juice. It was a good size piece of chicken, well cooked and a generous portion of chips. No complaint over the quality of the food or the service and, as I say, excellent value for money. I have only been at lunchtime - it's more expensive to choose from their larger menu or in the evening.

Recently visited Alton and lunch time came we went to see what there was to eat. We came across Frango Grill and what a pleasant surprise.

This place is fantastic gorgeous food, clean, very friendly & helpful staff and nothing is too much trouble.Our fourth visit and most definitely will be back again.Forgot to mention food all freshly cooked.

My wife and I visited after a trip away, first time we had been there and we were very pleasantly surprised, good freshly cooked food at an affordable price. If I have a complaint it would be the wait, but that is due to them cooking from fresh, but they tell you the wait up front. Very friendly and attentive staff.

I was looking forward to using this outlet, but cannot suppress my disappointment.

We went to Frango Grill for the first time. The food was cooked very well, presented very well and was exceptionally tasty, I particularly liked the herbie sauce it was very flavoursome. We found the service very good with a genuine helpfulness and interest. It was a very enjoyable experience and we would definitely recommended it.

The staff at the Alton Branch were very polite and friendly, and the food was just as great! They can cater for everyone’s needs, gluten free, halal, vegan and vegetarian. It’s a great place to go out with friends and family. I would 100% recommend it to anyone who wants to go out for a meal.

The chicken is better , the sauce is better , the staff are polite and we have been regular customers since the day it opened. One of the best thing to have happened to Alton!!
