Excellent hotel and rooms ,food 1st class very friendly staff

Had a look on google and some of the rooms look nice. My room was horrible. Scratty shower that was barely attached to the wall and covered in grime. Whole bathroom needs ripping out and starting again. Room in general was very outdated and door was an old cheap pvc door. Bar on the other hand was nice, all staff were polite and food was good. Just update the rooms..

Kind of in the middle of nowhere but nice location. Very friendly helpful staff. Nice breakfast but a bit lacking in choice if you don't/can't eat tomatoes, mushrooms & hash browns. Rooms are comfortable and OK just to have somewhere to rest your head.

Unfortunately we were accommodated in one of the rooms in the annex. In fact, nothing worked properly, from the toilet flush to the doors. No hooks for towels, everything old and worn and run down. Almost all of the employees were nice and helpful. All in all, at most the standard of a 2 star hotel! The food was good. But I wouldn't stay there again.

Visited on Saturday for a wedding great location. The staff were amazing looked after all ghe guested and the wedding was enjoyed by all.

Honestly, our whole stay was chaotic and messy all around. Myself and my family stayed at the hotel for a wedding, and the whole experience left me pretty uncomfortable. My sister had her newborn baby stay with her for the weekend, and had requested a cot for the baby to sleep in. The cot however... wasn't a cot. It was a large playpen for a 1-2 year old, that had no mattress. So not only would the baby not be comfortable sleeping there but it also would not have been safe, as if she were to roll onto her front in the middle of the night she would be at high risk of suffocation. On top of this, the playpen wasn't even in the correct room. We had to run it up a flight of stairs to take it to their room, but ultimately decided that none of this was worth it anyway. We swapped rooms as the room they had been given was on the second floor of a separate backhouse of the hotel, which would have been incredibly difficult and frustrating to get a baby and the pram to and from each day. Additionally neither room was particularly clean, were very dusty, the bathrooms smelled of mold. One of the two rooms had no wardrobe and the other room's wardrobe was very short, which we needed to but was unable to hang a dress in. I wouldn't be so fussy about this usually but when the hotel specifically advertises itself as a location to host weddings at, it feels very bizarre for multiple rooms to have nowhere to hang suits & dresses - especially at the price we paid. Breakfast was decent, classic fry up with some cereals & hot drinks available on buffet, can't complain there. Dinner the day before however was pretty bad. Some pub classics you could realistically get anywhere else, at an insane 20 pound price point. The burger I had was not great either. The meat seemed to have come from frozen, the bun was stale and the bacon was pretty poor quality also. The server who took our order was quite rude, but she also seemed very stressed so I hold no grudge there. From what I could tell, she was serving, hosting, running food, working on the bar and the hotel receptionist all at once? I assume for one reason or another they were understaffed that particular day, and if that was the case I know I would be stressed too. I can't complain about the big night itself honestly. The roast dinner we had was decent too, and while things were a little bit unorganised on the hotels part it was nowhere near as bad as the other night had been. The Bride & Groom seemed to have a lovely time which is what matters most, but I know that in the run up they were quite stressed with everything else that was going on which was honestly a real shame. Usually I wouldn't be leaving a poor review - I don't think I'm the type to - but considering the event, the fact that the hotel advertises itself as a venue that can cater towards these events and the extortionate prices we were charged it felt necessary. Can't say I'd recommend at all.

There were no free seats in the bar or tables to eat at night due to it being very busy. Not ideal, but went to a pub five miles away to eat which had great food.

We met extended famiky for a meal. It was last minute and despite staff shortages they pulled out the stops and made us feel very welcome. Food was great too. Venue itself was spacious and welcoming. Thanks for putting up with us.

Came here for a friend's wedding. The venue was lovely inside and out, there was plenty of parking. The staff were very attentive, and the air con was great

Second time using this hotel. Lovely place and location. Spacious rooms, great rates, good selection of items for breakfast. Recently had my elderly mum staying overnight and they really looked after her. Many thanks 😊

This place appears to be in the middle of nowhere. We attended a wedding reception here. The bar service was a little slow, and they ramped up the prices in the reception area.

Short time but a great experience! I will come back for more time and discover the surroundings, the greenery everywhere as I like

1 night stay, super large room with nice bathroom.

Stayed for one night in an outside two story chalet-type room . The room was very good value for money but not four star. It was clean, but tired, particularly the bathroom. The walls are thin and we could hear our neighbours conversations. The bar area was lovely with a great selection and the outside terraced is beautiful..

The Manager needs to learn how to speak to customers, very rude and unprofessional. Sadly gone downhill. It use to be so much better.

Stayed here for work, booked based on price and flexibility. It was a good price for the area. I was in what I'd describe as annex area, half dozen or so rooms in a separate building. The room was ok, a pretty basic twin bed room but fine for price, clean bathroom, enough towels and pillows, a desk for work, plenty of sockets ( often skimped on elsewhere.) The bed was very comfy. It is a bit out in the country which can be a positive as well as negative, very quiet despite road nearby but a fair way to Alton where I was working. There is a restaurant on site and bar. Food advertised looks ok but I did not partake as was needed in Alton for a few hours and ate there. The breakfast included in price was something else, massive and varied and very tasty. They do cater for gluten free as well which is important to me. On that basis I would recommend the evening food. The rooms seen here on Google and on the web pages probably represent better rooms at a higher price. If I was visiting for leisure I'd want to check which rooms I was getting but if like me this week you are after a value place to stay with great food this is a good option

We stayed 2 nights for a wedding and from the moment we stepped through the door, the staff were amazing, friendly and helpful. The room was great and the bed was comfortable after dancing the night away. Could not recommend more.

Stayed 5 days on work rounds. The staff were excellent, the service was good, and the excellent breakfast was good. Rooms were clean.

Last minute booking but fell lucky here. Nice rooms and good amenities friendly staff just a little bit out the way which if you want peace and quiet it’s perfect.

Wonderful hidden gem, worth a visit , did not eat there . Menu was varied but burgers and pizza not for myself.

Check your receipts very carefully, been overcharged 2 months in a row by a considerable amount. We will not be going again.

5/5 a lovely hotel sufficient parking space. From the moment we booked it was peace of mind. Ruth was very helpful for the booking process and Wendy at reception. Anne took care of us at breakfast time and all staff were lovely. At the end of a tiring day it was lovely to come back to a lovely clean room. Great service overall thank you everyone. Had a lovely relaxing time.

The carvery is not as good as it used to be. Choice of beef which was so undercooked it was raw , chicken wings (you would expect roast chicken as it was a carvery) or gammon. Choice of desserts on a Sunday has been reduced too. For £14.95 its still quite cheap compared to other places but its not hard to see the quality has gone down.

Excellent service, lovely and clean. Great food, now our favourite place. Will be visiting again , great location.

Booked last minute, during the week, for party of 8. Restaurant is lovely and clean and nicely laid out. The staff are fab, so helpful and friendly, and we all had lovely meals. We were in the area for a family break, so unfortunately, we can’t return , but would definitely recommend giving this place a try. Thank you all so much, for a lovely evening.

We recently visited here with friends for a Christmas Lunch. It was great receive a warm welcome and be seated near a festively dressed window with a warm radiator. The dining area was spacious and a Christmas Tree filled a prominent position for all to see. As it was a Christmas lunch we had pre-ordered our choices so were served fairly quickly. My prawn cocktail, followed by turkey was very good - such a huge helping on the plate for my main course, I sadly had to leave some! Our friends enjoyed their food, apart from my husband who had ordered Roast Beef as his main course. It was very dark in colour when served up, and somewhat "leathery" he remarked! The desserts were all enjoyed, followed up by coffee. We were very impressed with our waitress who was both friendly and helpful We would certainly re visit.

Ate here in February. Decent looking pub grub menu and a pretty good carvery. We had to wait a fair while for the carvery to be ready for us but was worth the wait. Good quality meat and a fair selection of veg. All the servers were very friendly. Good drop of Guinness too.

I drive past The Angel Inn numerous times a month and finally found the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat. We were greeted by many friendly members of staff, their hospitality was second to none. The bar was spotlessly clean, a good selection of drinks available at a reasonable price. The carvery had a selection of 3 meats with a good variety of vegetables to accompany, plus the obligatory Yorkie! It was all really tasty and most importantly, piping hot. We will most definitely return.

We went on New Years Day, we had a carvery, it was excellent, they do them 3 or 4 days a week, staff were very friendly and pleasant. Will be back

Stopped here for lunch with four family friends. Very welcoming in warm spacious bar/lounge/dining areas. Great food and drinks at reasonable prices served by friendly staff. Super loos. Will definitely visit again.

Stayed here for 1 night BB with my husband on a voucher deal. The hotel is very popular with workmen, however don't let this put you off staying. Room was basic and quite minimalist but spotlessly clean and had everything you need - a comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities, TV and free wifi. We had dinner in the restaurant - mine was absolutely fine but my husband said his steak was just 'ok; and he ate it but wished he'd ordered something else as it wasn't cooked to his liking. Our only complaint was that by the time we got down for breakfast - around 8.30, all the hot food items hadn't been replenished and what was available was a bit dried up. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

We stayed for two nights here and it was fine, room basic but good, bed comfy, food good etc. We did have a problem finding it as the post code to us to the middle of nowhere and said You're at your destination! We thought it might be in Privett which is tiny but it is actually on the main road to Gosport!. It is more of a 70's Roadhouse than a country pub with a definite Motel feel about it . But the staff were very helpful and the food was reasonably priced and we were able to explore the area as was our intention.

Stayed for a long weekend with deal via Groupon. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. Great food, large portions and very good value for money. Well worth the visit just for dinner. Room was cozy and comfy bed. Plenty of parking. Bar prices reasonable. Will be going back soon as nice location to get to Winchester and Southampton.

All members of staff provided excellent customer service, (reception, bar, restaurant, cleaners). Great value stay. Quiet room with all the essentials that we needed.

Nice quiet room and very cozy. Read some bad reviews that were really unfair .The room was great all clean and tidy. Nice bathroom only fault was a very firm bed but I do like a soft bed. Nice place for a weekend visit . Would stay again :)

Checked in late after a wedding. Room was small, next to fire door in corridor, over the top of reception and faced the car park near a main road. Just a bit noisy!Breakfast was from 8-10am. Arrived at 9.30. Food on offer was very disappointing. Hardly any hot food left. We waited for a top up but the chef just wandered out and said there was no more cooking. Grabbed what we could and sat down. Went to check for more and 4 sausages came out. Then coffee ran out. Our stay served a purpose. A one night only stopover, thankfully.

We have driven past this hotel many times and until this visit had never called in to see what was on offer. Our loss! The bar staff were friendly and very attentive and even allowed me to taste one of the beers that I was unfamiliar with.

Stayed here for one night for an event here and everything was brilliant! Great atmosphere, great food, great room, lovely staff!! I would highly recommend even if you just wanted to come for a meal or drinks! Will definitely be staying again!

Not haute cuisine, but excellent pub fare at good prices. We ate here most nights during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

I have stayed many time in June and the staff are very helpful and attentive. The food is palatable but un-adventurous. Will be staying again soon. This place is good value for money and is in a lovely countryside location.

Host (Nick) exceeded all requisits of his job role in order to assist and make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Provided amazing customer service and local knowledge with a positive can do attitude! Would recommend!

I had one evening meal here while staying in the hotel. The pleasant restaurant area is separate, but next to, the bar area. I went midweek and it was fairly quiet, so easy enough to get a table. The menu is on a blackboard by the bar and has a good selection of traditional bar meals and, considering a lot of the diners would be hotel residents, the prices are very reasonable. Service was prompt and my meal was absolutely fine, as was the accompanying beer.

We went Sunday to meet up with our dad for Fathers Day. We had the carvery which consisted of 3 meats , Beef Gammon and Turkey. I love beef but the joint brought out had blood on the top and was bright pink inside with the juices running red. No thank you it was very undercooked so we opted for the gammon. There were potatoes parsnips and carrots plus Yorkshire puddings. This was missing a decent vegetable selection you generally get at a Carvery and was priced at £11.95 EACH!!!! The plates were more the size of tea plates so it was almost impossible to put any gravy on without it spilling over. This was the worst yet most expensive Carvery I have ever had . I would give it 3 out of 10 and it explains why the place was empty. The staff were all very nice and its done out nice inside they just need to look at the food they dish up. Maximum profit margin I am sure. Would not return for a meal. If they charged £5.99 it would still be too much for what they offer.

Great location. Easy to find & easy to drive into Winchester & the surrounding area. Lovely comfortable room. Clean, warm & spacious. Noise minimal despite being on a main road. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast & dinner were good value. Good choices & portion sizes. Excellent value for money. Would recommend & definitely stay again. Very friendly & polite staff.

No complaints whatsoever great choice hot and fresh. Full English breakfast with continental choice too. Self service but staff very accommodating to special request for soft boiled eggs.

Visited here for a business meeting in the bar area. It wasn’t that busy. The surroundings were comfortable and well furnished. The lunch menu was limited to a selection of sandwiches and wraps but they were reasonably priced and tasted fine.

Food is good value and very tasty. We had the carvery, nice fresh home cooked vegetables. Was quiet when we visited. Negatives... decor is bland and not much atmosphere in the pub.

Dry food, unprofessional staff, food kept under a hot lamp. bar staff not very good, it appears to be a cheap business hotel!

Definitely have the carvery if you like roasts.... great value for money and the breakfast was delicious with a good selection of pastries and a full english buffet.

Una sola notte ma siamo stati bene gin dall'inizio. Il proprietario è stato gentilissimo. Le stanze molto grandi. Inoltre abbiamo cenato nel ristorante della struttura e c'era una gran varietà di portare. Tutte molte invitanti. Anche la colazione (continentale o full english) è molto abbondante. Il personale, sia dell'albergo che del ristorante, sempre molto gentile e disponibile.

Arrived without booking at lunchtime for a little celebration with my partner, was met with most friendly staff in a clean & airy bar, a helpful display of the menus and specials board, with helpful advice as to what is on offer. A good well kept beer before eating, & we were off to a prompt & filling meal, quickly served & superbly cooked! Most interesting history of the building on the walls, and with plentiful parking, a highly recommended venue.

We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay. The rooms are clean, comfortable and welcoming. The food was good, varied and superbly cooked The staff were excellent and made sure that everything was in order. Thank you.

Stayed here overnight. Would certainly not recommend the burger I had. Although spacious, the rooms have zero charm. Breakfast was standard.

This is my first choice standby for when I want a good meal without having to cook it myself! I love the carvery - having various food allergies, it is great to be able to see exactly what is going on my plate and being able to choose how many vegetables and what quantity without having to go into long explanations. The meat is always lovely and the vegetables tasty - I usually try to go a little bit later in the service, which means the cauliflower and/or sprouts are more cooked, I am not a lover of undercooked vegetables, they may be healthier but I can't eat them!

Great menu to choose from but settled for the carvery, great value for money with plenty of fresh veggies and 3 meats to choose from.

We go quite a bit to the restaurant, always had an amazing meal, polite friendly can never do enough for you service, We have booked the private room for our small wedding do, my family use it a lot to come visit and stay over, rooms and rates are generally reasonable, Breakfast is yummy.

We called in for a carvery Sunday lunch, being our first visit did not know what to expect so entered with an open mind. The staff and service was absolutely fine, polite , quick attentive service, it was just the food that let the place down.
