Disappointing. We usually come here in preference to other similar places in the area as the service is usually good. Today was just not acceptable. Waited patiently while two staff members were at the till chatting with an elderly lady customer who it seemed they either knew or may be a regular. No problem with that Next in the queue was a staff member. Again no problem with that, but the two staff members behind the till then had a good laugh, joke and sing song with the third member. What I did have a problem with was waiting for 5 minutes in a place which wasn't particularly busy, without an acknowledgement or any sense of urgency that we were waiting in the queue. Leaving aside the fact that it should only take one person to work the till, I just won't tolerate such poor customer service. We simply left and went elsewhere.

Had their 'Afternoon Tea for 2' today (9 Aug 23) and it was excellent. Terrific selection of sandwiches, cakes etc and very generous portions. All beautifully presented and quite delicious! You have to give 48 hrs notice and the cost is £20 pp but it was well worth it. Lovely, helpful staff. TY.

This is an unexpected gem of a cafe, perfect for a pit stop on the A3, with added bonus of Hilliers Garden Centre. Wide range of fresh cakes and pastries, nice interior and very spacious well furnished garden area, clean tables. We ordered one quiche with our two coffees and without asking they split it across two plates, two garnishes, two sets of cutlery. A small thing but guarantees we will be back.

Very disappointed. Had read reviews and had personal recommendations but didn’t meet our expectations. Although less oil than our regular Chinese takeaway there was little taste won’t be using again

No longer a pub - it was closed down months ago and has been undergoing a lot of construction work. There is local talk of it having been purchased some type of medical conglomerate.

We went for one of the midweek roast events and what a disappointment it was. There was a very lukewarm welcome when we arrived and we were directed to the table with a point of the finger. The food was served quickly and just plonked in front of us. There was no asking what we’d pre-ordered so two of us got the wrong meals. This was rectified when we told them. It was hot but was very mediocre. I think my lamb died of old age. I couldn’t cut it, it was that tough. The potatoes were OK, the peas were peas that had once been frozen, carrots overcooked, the gravy was like water, the parsnips were OK and the saving grace was the cheese sauce on the cauliflower/brocolli. The Apple crumble was nice but again just plonked in front of us. The custard was lumpy. How much was all of this? It was a whopping £25 a head without so much as a jug of water on the table. It was daylight robbery. We wont be back.
