Tasty food and very reasonable prices

Been craving a Chinese for a long time and it didn’t disappoint. Really enjoyed it, lovely food and great service :)

Chips were not cooked still hard, portion sizes are for a child really rubbish

We have used this takeaway on a number of occasions but the last 3 times we’ve been very disappointed with the quality on the last occasion we tried the roast pork chop Suey the pork was nice but the amount of salt in the chop Suey made it inedible and the chips were very bitty and full of eyes and no real chips at all. On the previous order the crispy beef was also very salty we aren’t sure what has changed with the food there but sadly we are not sure if we will use them again

I don’t normally leave reviews but I needed to for this ! We are regulars here and have never had a bad meal , always fresh and tasty and never disappoints !! We also have tried the cookies and they are honestly the best we have tasted … worth a try !!! Thank you :)

This place is amazing. We used to live near Alton and it was our favourite takeaway. The food is delicious. We then moved 20 miles away and have a Chinese takeaway about 500m from our door. Despite that, the food is so good here that we do a 40 mile round trip to get it! The sticky porky is a favourite and its nice to see that they offer Gluten Free items for my wife. Great place!

We have used Man’s for years now and they still continue to change things up and keep improving things whenever they can, best Chinese take out in Alton!

The food was great as always - and the ordering was easy and worked well. I was told when to collect and it was ready.

Very sweet tasting dishes Full of sugar If I wanted a sweet I would of got a pudding Since when was chicken chow mein and beef curry full of sugar and as for egg fry rice boiled rice with egg thrown in nothing fried about it Total waste of money Never again

Visiting friends in Alton we decided to get a take away, well, to be honest i would not go there again as the meal was not very good for varios reasons ALSO driving pats later i noticed the state of the front of the building AND the filthy net curtains in the upstairs windows from that i thought if that's how they present themselves what is the kitchen and food storage areas like

Given a choice of whatever food / restaurant / takeaway she could have for her Birthday, my Wife chose a Man’s Chinese Takeaway. As usual, we weren’t disappointed. Absolute banquet. The new Katsu Skewers were amazing, and our vegetarian friend loved the Karokee! Thanks so much to everyone at Mans X

Absolutely delicious food. Everything is so tasty and fresh. The best Asian takeaway I’ve had outside of Asia. Look beyond the appearance of the slightly dated shop front. Be aware, you are paying for quality not quantity and enjoy some perfect Chinese food. Will be back ASAP

The staff are really friendly. I ordered and went to collect it. But I was very disappointed with the food, the chicken satay was dry, the 8" roll wasn't very nice. The bao bun was lovely.

First time trying this place since moving to Alton, and it's such a find! Best Chinese we've ever had, delivery was fast, the price is really good and the food... no grease at all and absolutely lovely flavours. Their website was a bit dated and hard to navigate but now we have a menu ready for round 2 👌

When ever may/ June rolls around .. man’s is the choice the kids always pick .. never had a bad one .. like I said above we got 4 birthday all on top each other so we have it every other week .. don’t eat out regularly but as a treat or birthday dinner or special occasions like anniversary or Christmas.. never had a bad one … tired other Chinese in Alton most other places just a slop of greese man’s is so tasty

First time having a Chinese since moving to Alton and my colleague recommended here. And we were not disappointed! Ordered the chicken curry, which had a rich flavour, the chicken in satay sauce, had a lovely kick and so peanuty. And also got the teriyaki udon, was so delicious! Will definitely order from here again! Thank you :)

The food is great, the staff are friendly, it's definitely the best Chinese takeaway in the area. The duck fried rice and the prawn toast are particular favourites with us.

First time trying this place based on the positive reviews I came across. The Special Chow Mein had a sweet taste to it - not to my liking. And the crispy chilli beef was not crispy - soggy more like, drowned in too much sauce. Disappointing.

I grew up in Alton but don't remember ever trying this place, and was pleasantly surprised to see they're still around. I'm back for a short visit after a decade in Toronto, where I'm spoiled for choice (two Chinatowns and a Korea town). If this were in Toronto maybe I'd have given 3 stars, but for a smallish town in Hampshire I'm impressed, and either way I'd be tempted to try more of their menu. I'd have come back again this visit if they weren't closed for a couple of weeks. I had the house special curry and the Korean seafood pancake. The curry was unremarkably decent; I'd have to try more of their menu before I'd be tempted to circle back to it but that's more about me than the food. The Korean seafood pancake solidly holds up to Korean food I've had in Toronto, and was welcome comfort food. I might be doing my hometown a disservice but I honestly didn't expect to see kimchi anywhere in Alton. I should've asked if they sell it by the tub! It's a great side and a better ingredient. I was treated to the meal by relatives, tired, and used to thinking in dollars and have been abroad for years, so can't offer useful comment on value for money. I'd have been thrilled if they had Japchae/glass noodles... I think Alton is ready for that. Most of the Chinese dishes that come to mind for "I'd have loved if they had..." statements probably woudn't be popular enough to be regular items. I'm sure locals would love congee if they tried it, but I don't know that "rice porage" is what most people are after when they want takeout (myself included if I'm honest; always been more of a dine-in go-to). I'd also have loved if they had more vegetable sides. "They" in this case being "almost everywhere I find myself eating when I'm back in the UK", rather than Man's in particular... what's a guy got to do to get some gai lan around here?

It was ok, bland to my taste to be honest which was the family opinion too. We will stick with Chefs Kitchen

We have been in Alton for 8 years and tried lot many take outs. Our go to place for a freshly cooked and healthy meal is Man's Chinese in Alton. The quality of their food is brilliant and in the eight years we have never had a bad experience. Our six year old loves their chicken gyozas. You have got to try it. I encourage you to read Bobby's story and appreciate his passion for cooking dishes with fresh produce and seasonal ingredients.

Good takeaway a bit expensive but friendly greeting

The quality of the food is always very good. Service is not the most friendly though, always seems somewhat chaotic when you go in to order and the staff are a bit abrupt. Portion sizes are small compared to others in town.

By far the best Chinese in town. Are they the cheapest no, but you get what you pay for and they offer good value. Great food, limited use of artificial colours and a focus on authentic flavours. The soul taste menu is a particular highlight: the bao are absolutely banging. Delivery is always prompt.

Lovely food as ever! wish I'd found the salt and pepper King prawns earlier, as will now be a regular item going forward 😋

Absolutely terrible food get from here if you want the worst chinese

We normally go to a different takeaway in Alresford but wanted to branch out and tried Man's. Absolutely no regret. I love their pre-order service so I had a collection time confirmed before they officially opened for the evening. The food was absolutely delicious and a decent size. The Bao's were amazing. I would have taken a photo to upload but it was so good that it was all gone before I thought to take a photo! The nice thing was that we both felt full without being fit to explode.

We have used this place 3 times in the past few months. We have collected each time and the food has always been nice and hot by the time we get it home. Staff on the front desk could may be a little happier and polite. Food has been of a good quality each time, only negative feedback would be their portions can be smaller than elsewhere but for the same price.

..it is always good food here, and I’m just picky maybe..however I’d say the large pancake roll needs a smidge more attention to the ingredient balance ;)

We tried this takeaway after reading a recommendation on Facebook, we were very impressed. The bao buns are fantastic and the food was very fresh, we can’t wait to have it again!

The food is ok, not really comparable to Alton Gourmet Oriental. We decided to go with Man's as they offer delivery where Alton Gourmet Oriental are collection. The chicken curry was bland far too much onion, not enough chicken and barley any sauce. not what you would expect. The only reason we may use Man's again is for the delivery option. A very disappointing visit unfortunately.

I really hope this was just a bad night at work, both the prawn and chicken dishes were so overcooked. Only saving grace was the ribs, and the friendly staff. Portions surprising small too.

Lovely hot food and not greasy, even the chicken balls were a perfect size and not dripping in fat. Collected as delivery was 90 minute wait but I'm guessing that just proves their popularity. They take card over the phone too which has always been a problem elsewhere. Definitely will use them again.

Ordered the Asian feast set dinner for 2 yesterday, it was all very delicious, especially the dumplings, much recommended.

Good effort with vegetarian options - loved the vegan chicken balls! Will miss this place now we have moved away from Alton.

Honestly the best Chinese around. I travel half an hour each way just for Man’s and I’ve never ever had an issue. I love the fact you can use the what’s app service to ‘pre order’ the day before or up until 3pm on the day.. it saves stressing about remembering to order! 😍 always ready when I get there too! Everything is cooked to perfection (I’m fussy with meat) and this is the only place I’ll eat meat from!

I have been getting my Chinese from Mans for years, I don't find any other one in town a patch on them. Everything is cooked fresh and they have a really good menu. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Unspectacular food food but despite trying to support them during Covid they don’t deliver on promises time for food even with 30 minutes notice. The young lad during front of house is very arrogant. It is shame when you try to support a local business that they treat you so poorly. Avoid.

We have used Man’s Chinese for many years. Food of excellent quality, with a varied menu which continues to evolve and offer things for all palates. My favourites are the gyoza and mushroom chow mein. My family and friends have always enjoyed their meals too. Not once disappointed which is a very consistent track record.

Pretty good, great looking menu but I haven't had anything vegetarian that was great so far. Update: The owner has taken the time to contact me and offered to help with menu choices that might suit me better, which I will do. I think it's great that the owner cares enough to do this (this is Customer Care) therefore, I've edited my review to be more accurate truthful and fair. My family who are not vegetarian say that they have enjoyed everything that they have tried and we will definitely go back!

I've been using this Chinese takeaway for several years, but I haven't been a frequent eater here as I usually go for Indian, Turkish or Italian cuisine if I'm having a take out. That said, Lockdowns 1, 2 and 3 have meant I've now exhausted most of the few decent take out options we have in Alton and I've become rather bored of having the same favourites over and over. I've used Man's twice in as many weeks now and I thought it was high time I wrote them a review. The service is always friendly, but it's the Chef's own 'Soul Taste' and 'Taste More' menus here that set it apart from all the other run-of-the-mill Chinese takeaways in town. In case you're confused, whilst also on the main menu, 'Soul Taste' items appear on a separate menu, whilst the 'Taste More' items feature below the Soul Taste section on the main menu. If you fancy some Asian-fusion food, tasty and home-made, then check it out - I can highly recommend and my mouth is watering just thinking of it!

Would highly recommend Man's Chinese Takeaway. We have had two home deliveries recently and enjoyed our choices from the menu with more dishes to try in the New Year. Using the WhatsApp option works well and the food was delivered to the door nice and hot. Such a treat on a dark, cold winter's evening ☺

We ordered our meal on Whats App which was so easy to do. Had a confirmation received a while later and our dinner was delivered tonight. As usual it was delicious. The best Chow Mein ever. Thoroughly recommend Mann’s. The service is friendly and the food is *****.

I recently ordered 4 meals from Man’s Chinese via their app and Crystal later phoned to confirm my order and delivery address. The meals were delivered at the specified time, were piping hot and absolutely delicious! I will not hesitate to order from them again!

Have used Man's Chinese since moving to the area a couple of years ago. My partner and I are both vegetarian and so the menu provides some nice veggie/vegan options, that a lot of other Chinese takeaways don't (the vegan chicken balls are lovely!). The folks behind the scenes are also very friendly and seem keen to engage with customers-- I once received a message asking for feedback on a newer dish! All in all, if looking for a good value and tasty takeaway-- would recommend as have yet to have a bad experience!

We aren't massive Chinese food lovers, perhaps having one a year or so. As it happens, this was our first in 2 years, the other elsewhere being pretty awful. This was nice, bit chewy in some places and others mouthwateringly good.

Love that I can order and pay via WhatsApp. Place order if delivered They call you back and take payment. If you want to collect from table outside shop they just confirm the order via a message. You pay on collection. Great food. Great service. Menu revamp is also great.

Always a friendly service at Mans. The old favourites are on the menu along with some less familiar but very tasty alternatives. The quality is always good and the portion sizes excellent. I highly recommend this Chinese Take Away.

Had our first meal delivered from Man's last night and will definitely be ordering again next week . Found ordering a simple process, the meal was delivered on time with a wave and smile . Portions were ample and very tasty.

We have been a customer for over 20 years and have never been disappointed, yes we have tried others when Man’s are closed - but we always come running back!

I have been going to Man's Chinese for years. There has never been any complaints from me or my family. If there is something specific I required the staff go above and beyond to make it happen. Recently I have taken to the amazing roast pork bun T3 on the menu highly recommended. I like to try different things and different restaurants but always end up placing my order at Mans in the end.

Man’s has been our pressure valve during lockdown, saving us from Sunday night dishes. Great innovation with their easy-to-use WhatsApp messaging service to order. Respectful distanced food handover at the shop. We try to mix it up on our orders but go back to our frequent favourites and we love the Soul Taste menu in particular. The food is generous, well flavoured, and varied. Try the Tom Yum soup, the salt and pepper varieties, the kimchi rice amongst others. Well done Man’s for keeping us fed safely in lockdown.

Ordered food using whatsapp ( hope that continues past lockdown ) and was answered within minutes by delightful girl called Crystal asking about the order and suggesting an alteration. The next day she called and double checked the order. For customer service, they are excellent. The food was perfect and My girlfriend and I both loved our meals ( she is veggie and I am a carnivore ) . Was just what a great chinese should be. Will be back soon :-D

I had a takeaway last night and tbh the service was of a good quality ....but the food really average reheated chips dry chic in kung po dish , poor quantity of any meat in all dishes plus spent £26 and was asked if I would like to purchase prawn crackers surely they should of been complementary..

Last Friday and tonight (Tuesday) we had the same meal, it was so good we ordered the exact same thing tonight! Chicken Satay Skewers, Chicken with Pineapple, Chips with Gravy and Half a Crispy Aromatic Duck. Was delivered on time (ahead actually, both times) and the food was SENSATIONAL. Brilliant. I always come here for my Chinese food. It’s menu has recently expanded and if you’re vegetarian or vegan you’re well catered for. The new tofu dishes are really good - the Shanghai tofu is amazingly good! Good value for money

Good food and good prices great takeaway

We usually go to a different chinese in Alton which we love. But thought tonight we’d give Mans a go. Never again. The meat was chewy and tasteless, we ended up leaving most of our food as it was inedible. Won’t be back anytime soon!

Walked in, they couldn't be bothered to serve me! The phone went while I was waiting, someone came and answered it, took an order and then disappeared... I walked out!

It's ok as long as you've got at least an hour to spare to wait! We called at just over an hour of waiting and were told it was just on the side waiting to be delivered! The food itself was OK but nothing special. We won't be going again.

Been going to manns for many years.. Had a few problems in past but over the past year. Been going back for over a year reguarly the service very good staff friendly. Delivery sevice excellent, the food full of flavours and always very hot. Thank u and keep up the excellent work
