Happy Chef in East Hampshire

Bad service, got order wrong, and the food that I got was disgusting. I will not be using this takeaway again. Very unhappy.

Ordered take out few weeks ago, brilliant, so ordered another for when we had 6 guests. It was awful, embarrassing in fact. We’ll return our custom to our previous take out.

Kept the order simple after poor chinese from another 5 minutes away,Chicken Satay was a little like rubber and the satay sauce different....sorry it's a 5/10...friendly staff...but still a 5/10.

Good food and reasonable prices

It's OK. Friendly staff, but the food isn't something to write home about. It's not bad but it's not great. I've seen bad reviews, and disagree with them. It may have changed hands, but I can only assume the bad reviews are because of portion control, which isn't a bad thing. I found my meal adequate and next to no left overs. Just wasn't as tasty as some Chinese food I have had. But will visit again. after visiting a few times I can honestly say the food has got worse. the egg fried rice is clearly microwaved and comes lumpy. went in at a quiet time to see if it was a time saving thing, but got the same awful rice. shame, because it used to be nice and the staff are always friendly. but won't be visiting again anytime soon

The best Chinese in Horndean/Clanfield/Cowplain. Consistently good. Definitely the best chow mein in the area, cooked properly, not the sloppy mess a lot chinese restaurants serve.

Great food, fast service, customer friendly, reasonable prices, you can’t go wrong with it.

The chicken that was inside was hard and over cooked..never again.. needless to say my meal was ruined. Shame because the place looked nice and clean and the woman was very friendly when saying hello and handing us our takeaway.

Our local chinese takeaway, never fails to impress me. Great meal last night, my favourite king prawn curry, crispy chicken balls and prawn crackers was mouthwatering. Didn't touch the sides.

So far I have enjoyed pretty much every takeaway from here over the years.

No veg in ANY of the dishes. Luke warm. Taste bland. Expensive. Staff don't know what plannet they're on when I called to tell them (although get it right in the first place). Whoever says this is the best Chinese is an idiot. New China house round the corner is better and even that's not great tbh. And I'm not even that fussy

Probably the best Chinese takeaway In the local area, no delivery and quite pricey though. One of the members of staff is pretty rude

Preparation time good . Chicken tasted synthetic, possibly frozen? And yes, I did let them know.

Never bad and not to experience

First experience at this place was really good the staff was friendly and polite and the waiting time was reasonable . When I took the food back home the food that I had ordered was still steaming and hot . Definitely would recommend some dishes to try , like the dim sums and the Singapore rice noodle . I would go back anytime if I feel like having a little treat for myself or just a meal to fulfill my hunger.

Hubby and I rarely treat ourselves to Chinese but always come back to the happy chef in Clanfield. I don’t want to go back after tonight though having found some kind of metal filings in my mouth whilst eating their satay chicken.

I really enjoyed my periodic visits. Staff always courteous and helpful but never returning after visit on June 1st. Hair in food as illustrated by photo of sweet and sour chicken ball. Not only occurrence last night. Sorry but not good enough. Rating previously would have been high...no more. I still have the offending article available for inspection should anyone question my review.

Had a takeaway from this place. Great sweet and sour chicken balls and they even change the source for you. Singapore noodles are great too but may be too hot for some people.

Must have changed hands. Latest takeaway lacked flavour and dishes all tasted very similar. Not sure we will use again.

Can't fault Happy Chef. Consistently good food. But been caught out by the new minimum spend on card - the 50p surcharge is no more!

I got a bit peckish so got a few menus out and went with Happy Chef. I rang up around 9pm and ordered a Large Chips, Large BBQ sauce and sweet and sour chicken HK style but asked for no veg and just pineapple and chicken . Lovely lady on phone said 15 mins and the price . I went down in 5/10 and was a few minutes then ready. Contactless Payment and food was hot and very tasty. Would recommend . Thanks for the prawn crackers as well

Ordered food with my friend and went and collected. We weren’t given a specific time to collect or when our food would be ready. We order £40 worth of food and when we got it back home to eat it. It was just not good quality and frankly quite disgusting. After a few mouthfuls I decided that I wasn’t happy with any of the dishes I had ordered and my friend tried hers and was also disappointed. I decided to phone the establishment to say to them we are not happy with the quality of some of the food. A lady answered the phone and I explained my disappointment in a very polite way she the proceeded to tell me that there was nothing wrong with the food and they have been very busy all evening and no one else had complained. To my utter shock i said so you have sold the exact same order to everyone else. She told me that we had ordered a wrong dish and that was our fault. She told me that we had taken too long to collect so it get stored In a heat box that’s why some of the dishes were not up to scratch. I told i her I would bring the food back to them and I wanted a refund. I then drove back and returned the food to which then I still had to argue my case that it was not pleasant and wanted a partial refund as some of our other friends enjoyed there meal so all was not lost. After several minutes of she said we said she then said she would have to speak to the manager. She showed me the order we rang at 8.20 and she said our food was ready at 8.35. Interesting for a place who she said was really busy all evening ..........I got a refund of £13 which I still feel should have been more and To have the Excuse we have been busy disgraceful. I would rather pay the extra and use the New China. It’s true you get what you pay for Avoid- unless you want over priced mediocre bland food and attitude when you complain.

Recently renovated but with a solidly traditional "Chinese takeaway" menu. Quality food, also with small portions available - for those on a budget.

We have eaten here many times the food is always excellent, the staff are helpful and very friendly. I’ve eaten from all the Chinese takeaways in the area and this one is the best by far. As for all the people that leave negative comments, go back and tell them if you are not happy, they aim to provide everyone with a good meal.

Hadn’t had a good chicken chow mein for 2 years due to being overseas. Staying with family in the area we opted for a takeaway, it didn’t disappoint! The only issue was the chocked want shredded, it felt like it was from a packet.....Otherwise all good

Couldn't fault them ....good food and premises appear spick n span. Took a little while to get out order but then it was worth the wait. All freshly prepared.

Just a good Chinese takeaway - always plentiful, flavourful, reasonable prices and a smile with the order.

Curry is like a dirty babies nappy

This is our local Chinese. Provides a good value takeaway. Always cooked to order and delightful. We order from here whenever we want a Chinese meal.

Stopped on a long journey. It is what it is....Olympic breakfast is good, service ok. Few more smiles would help

Absolutely lovely takeaway - have been going for a good decade and the quality of their food and staff has never failed me.

Rang up to order and explained there were dairy allergies in the family. They asked what dairy was (this should have been our first warning!) but when we explained milk/butter/cream they reassured us none of the food we had ordered contained dairy. This was clearly untrue as I now have a very unwell child who cannot sleep due to her discomfort, oh and sick all over my bed. Totally unacceptable, a child recently died due to a dairy allergy - it's not to be taken lightly!!!

As Always, brilliant food, big portions, cheap prices. We're a definite repeat customer :)

Excellent Chinese. Good food with good service. Can get busy. OH DEAR Has recently changed hands and introduced a card limit which means unless you spend £15. It's a real faff. Not for me anymore. There is a better one on far side of village.

Cold food, rubbery meat, uncooked chips not again.

we are required by eldest grandson once a month to order on the way home for his overnight stay, we have tried other establishment on our way home but return to this one, they cook it the way we like it, the chilli beef is not TOO hot so I can eat it as well, the prawns, S&S.; chow mein & rice are excellent

Good quality Chinese takeaway used monthly by members of our household.Still not Three Jun standard who were there when we moved to Clanfield in 1996 but very acceptable none the less with friendly proprieters and always busy .

Nice friendly local pub with good food. Have special nights, like the curry night on Tuesdays. Also had our walking group Christmas lunch there which was excellent.

Had a bad meal years ago but thought I would give second chance spent over £50 the chicken seemed to be processed and was uncooked in the curry plus both other chicken meals Been going to Chinese for 40years this was the worst

Food is always tasty and hot. Menu is extensive and always happy to make variations. Owners are friendly and welcoming. Good value for money.

No los más, pero sin duda la mejor comida para llevar china por aquí. Felizmente aceptar pedidos llamó (al menos desde los asiduos) y son listas en el momento en que llegas allí. Sin embargo, en temporada alta puede haber un poco de espera, ya...

Pensaba que iba a tratar mi hija y yo a un chino y el Happy Chef es local parecía un win win situation. Mi hija es muy exigente con la comida y no probar nada nuevo, así que era el típico huevo frito arroz, pollo...

A very good takeaway, we go there at least once every two weeks! The food and service are excellent. The staff know us very well, they have changed management this year but it seems that isn't a problem! Very generous portions and fair prices. Consider having a lot of money if you're buying for a big family, a family of four for example.

Visitó en el 03/07/16, ordenados no es exactamente una china, pero pedimos patatas fritas y salsa de curry de pollo pelotas. Como la mayoría de la gente no en el camino de vuelta del pub. Patatas fritas frías pollo así grasienta pelotas y el curry salsa insípida. Lo mejor de todo era que el pan y la mantequilla de costcutter. Creo que ahora ha cambiado de propiedad? Pero todo lo que puedo decir es que fue antes de comestible.

This is my local and I love there food. Not to greasy either. Always welcoming too from staff . Quick service too

I don't normally eat chinese, probably a few times a year. This one is really good. I've had King Prawn in black bean sauce, really nice. Will be back again.

Good food and normally quick, but can get busy

I ordered a special Chow Mein and the meat/prawns were tricky to find. They were cut so small, my fork could not get them. Very bad value for money and will not go there again. I think they are looking for maximum profit will minimal supply.
