A Friday night meal when unfortunately they forgot our order. Maybe because we had a small child, we were squeeze into a room off the bar. Not a great experience although I have to say the oysters were fresh and tasty wine was not chilled so unlike previous visits this one was a disappointment.

Lovely pub, with open fires on a cold day. Loads of character. Beer was about £5.50 a pint but the crisps were an eye watering £2.75....so for the 2nd round we had some thick tasty chips at £4/ portion.

It is a great shame that I have to write a negative review, as the pub is near to our home and is very cosy inside, with a "lived in" casual country feel. We went for an evening meal and decided to have some olives to start (which were very expensive for such a small portion), to nibble at while we waited for our main courses. I was completely taken aback by the weeny portion of my Shepard's pie. There was barely half a dozen mouthfuls for the cost of £26 !! When I mentioned this to the waitress afterwards, she agreed that it had looked very small. My husband had the Halibut, £28, which was slightly larger, but still small. Even though the quality of the food was very good, we will not be returning. For the type of pub it is and the cost of the food, especially for such small portions (and I am not a big eater), it is not worth it.

Very disappointed with the meal I had last night 14/2/24. The meal portions were pathetic not even child portions but definitely adult prices. I had fish and chips. The fish was tiny and far too much batter. My friend had burger there was no salad or garnish. Both dishes had very few chips and we had to ask for an extra portion of chips which we were charged for. Not up to this pubs usual standard and I will not recommend it again or visit it again. What a pity as it was so great when it reopened last year. Ann Daniels Privett

I reserved a table online for 9 people. The pub has a lot of old-fashioned charm, however the first chair I sat on was broken. Seven customers ordered the pie of the day, while two chose other items. The pheasant dish was served without the pheasant, and the lemon sole was served with croutons; when the waitress knew the customer was gluten-free, she thankfully noticed! When I booked, there was no mention of the 12.5% service charge for tables of six or more. I was questioned about why I declined to pay the service charge. I responded that I was unaware of the charge before booking. Poor service would also be another reason. To be fair to the pub, the cost of the two dinners was deducted off the bill, but it spoilt what could have been a nice meal. On the plus side the pie steak and ale was good, with crisp pastry, delicate beef, and tasty gravy. The dish was filling. Cost £17.00. There was nothing noteworthy about the crumble. Because the apple was very firm, most people left a large portion. I thought it was too pricey at £9.00.

I haven’t been here for over 3 x years and unfortunately when I came here last in 2023, I found it closed for refurbishment! Not sure what was refurbished, but to me the pub still has the unique olde world charm, particularly in the small bar ( think that must have been repainted though). Staff all quite young, but friendly. Beer was nice (didn’t try food but on adjacent tables it looked good), but was very disappointed to hear the famous “No Name Strong” was no longer available as this was a unique and great feature of the pub. I was also surprised to hear that there was no HSB. I think the old “No Name” beers used to be brewed on the premises and in later years switched to somewhere in Alton. It would be a great feature to get this back on along with its “No Name Bitter” counterpart. Any thoughts? I still love the uniqueness and confusion caused by the pub name. It has always made me smile and the old “empty” pub sign at the end of the road is just a little bit too subtle for people who don’t know! Glad to see it back open.

I saw this place advertised on pitch up as a camping site and seeing as it was my first experience in a long time & taking a baby solo I was quite anxious. Upon arrival I went into the pub to pay for the pitch to be told that Laura would be around to greet us so to pitch the tent.. The campsite its self is lovely, small with a lovely feel about it. It’s very family friendly and is kept to a good clean condition with the toilet and shower facilities being well kept too considering it’s on a camp site. In the toilet there is plugs to be able to charge things which was a godsend as I’d of been lost without somewhere to charge my phone in the case of an emergency. Laura, the lady who runs the site was so lovely, polite and friendly which also made the experience even better as I felt confident that if I needed anything I could ask for help. Overall a lovely experience and will definitely make a return visit (or lots). Would definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing, sun trap, friendly environment with a chilled atmosphere.

Our local and we love sitting outside in the sun! Thought we would try the Sunday bbq and sadly it wasn’t great. Hopefully it will improve over the weeks as the menu is great however the mixed salad was just leaves, the lobster is small and chewy, all the food came at different times which was a bit annoying and the vegetable skewers were tiny. Prices are quite high however quality and quantity of food wasn’t great sadly! I hope it improves.

Very very disappointing. Family birthday lunch and arrived to be told it was a bbq menu only. Staff were arrogant and rude and it took 30 mins after ordering drinks for them to come to our table. We were told no fries were available (with the bbq not children’s menu) and the children’s hot dog was a reheated frankfurter in a stale white roll. Mains didn’t come with any sides or garnish and when we asked waitress what the mains came with she said she didn’t know. Vegetable skewers were £14 for a couple of pieces of pepper, some undercooked courgette and came swimming in oil. What a shame!

I’m conflicted about this one. It’s a well known old country pub - but with new owners/management. We visited as a largish party and ate outside in the back garden. A lovely setting. All the food looked “nice” and there were no complaints from us. I had the £16 burger and was disappointed to find it to be of the “small bun, taller than its wide” variety. This makes it a faff to eat and tries to disguise that it’s quite a small patty of meat. I initially wanted a steak but our group has a golden rule - we don’t buy steaks when they are £20 plus. This place, and I may have it wrong, wanted £38.50 for a steak! It might have been £35.80 - no matter. I would never pay that for a simple steak with chips and some veg. Ridiculous. So, a great venue, well known to us all, good beer, great staff etc etc but I can’t see them lasting long if they maintain their prices. A simple pork chop (singular) was £26. A bavette steak £24. Mad! I see on their website that sirloin is now priced at £11 per 100g! Pricing steak per 100g. This is not lobster or expensive deep sea fish. It’s meat from a local wholesale! So. A great pub good food but charging insane prices for simple pub grub.

Outstanding food – service needs work. Second time here and again, very impressed by the food. Well worth the money. Unfortunately, service is very scattered and no-one seems quite sure whose table they’re responsible for. Senior waitress took our order but didn’t write it down – this always makes me anxious that something will be forgotten – there’s no need to prove you have an outstanding memory – please just write down the order, so you don’t forget anything. Inevitably-they did forget part of the meal, which then took 20 minutes to arrive, by which time we’d nearly finished our main. Nevertheless, worth the wait.

We went for dinner last night. The food is amazing. Really interesting and delicious. The white wine was warm however as hadn’t been in the fridge which is NOT good. Overall, we enjoyed it BUT it is very very expensive. I don’t mind paying those prices if you feel you’ve enjoyed a luxury experience. But this is still a pub….cutlery in tins on the table, basic paper slightly soiled menus and paper napkins and waitresses in scruffy clothes. I would gladly go back had we felt that the exorbitant prices reflected in the entire experience. £200 for a meal for 2 is a lot…and not even a complimentary bread selection! I think the food is worthy of the price providing the rest of the dining experience catches up. Until that happens we probably wouldn’t revisit sadly.

Then a really good picanha steak (nice to see that cut on the menu). Decent local ale too. Only suggestions would be a variety of leaves on the garnish, and dressing too (I'm sure it should have been dressed, just an oversight). Also, maybe toasted the bread a bit too far. Great to the No Name back to the top of its game under new management and with a new chef. The Venison Pie was great and my wife really enjoyed her steak. Good beer as ever, and stunning value. Dog friendly of course

Haven't been here since it closed for refurbishment. Used to live closer and went there quite often. Pleased to see it open again. Only popped in for a pint but nice atmosphere still.

Amazing place, service was fantastic and the food was absolutely superb. Pub is full of atmosphere and staff are friendly and smiley. Also had a few drinks lunchtime which is also lovely, table in front of the fire and a good selection of wine.

Under new management, what was already a good pub has become an excellent one. The team are friendly, efficient and professional. The food was as good as anything we have tasted and the value is excellent. Add to that warming fires, well cared for beers and an inviting atmosphere, and you have the perfect place to eat, talk, relax and enjoy time away from our daily troubles.

Wonderful to have the Pub with No Name open again - lovely welcome from the new owners and such a change from our last visit - only their second day and it was great to be there. Sausage rolls are delicious and worth a visit on their own - dog friendly and a fire pit outside for those who wanted the enjoy the autumn sunshine. Great destination at the end of a walk !

Really cosy, ancient pub with real fires, great food and real ales. Thoroughly recommended. You'll need SatNav to find it, as road signage is sparse!

A picture perfect pub, in a lovely Hampshire village - surrounded by rolling countryside, ideal for walking. We received a warm welcome from friendly host and staff. The interior is snug and attractively decorated - retaining original features. The stable rooms are very comfortable and well appointed and fairly priced. The wine selection is good and also fairly priced. The breakfast was generous and tasty. My only complaint is towards the quality of the evening meal, which sadly was mediocre and did not meet the general high standards of the rest of our experience. The smoked salmon and beetroot terrine was not a terrine and there was no beetroot on the plate. The leaves were undressed. The Mushroom stroganoff comprised button mushrooms only and white rice that was soggy and over cooked. A variety of mushrooms, some fresh herbs and wild rice would have elevated it. The fish cakes were stodgy and bready and not that pleasant. They were consumed in too much cream sauce. The chef should get some feedback and make adjustments. Aside from this I would definitely recommend this place and go back there if the food went up a few gears - all other aspects are really good and we appreciated the efforts of the staff to give us a good time.

An unspoilt, comfortable old fashioned, Dog friendly, pub with friendly service, good beer and food. Probably soon to be spoilt as it's just changing landlords.

We stopped for tea here. Lovely staff and very pleasant setting there are 3 gift shops selling a wide variety of items from gifts to perfume, handbags and much more. Would definitely go back if in the area.

Only visited and ate at the restaurant for lunch. Lovely cosy little place with warm welcome. Restaurant separated from the bar, where a log fire burns, by an archway. Simple, well cooked and mostly locally sourced. Horrendously expensively priced wines.
