Went with family, 4 adults, 3 children. Sunday roast was incredible but the service was not good at all! We had to ask for everything, every step of the way, ask to order drinks, ask to order food…our drinks sat at the bar and we had to ask for them Then we were charged 12.5% service as a table over 6 which came to £30. Service needs looking at, it doesn’t match up to ambiance and how great the food is, which is a shame.

I haven’t been here for over 3 x years and unfortunately when I came here last in 2023, I found it closed for refurbishment! Not sure what was refurbished, but to me the pub still has the unique olde world charm, particularly in the small bar ( think that must have been repainted though). Staff all quite young, but friendly. Beer was nice (didn’t try food but on adjacent tables it looked good), but was very disappointed to hear the famous “No Name Strong” was no longer available as this was a unique and great feature of the pub. I was also surprised to hear that there was no HSB. I think the old “No Name” beers used to be brewed on the premises and in later years switched to somewhere in Alton. It would be a great feature to get this back on along with its “No Name Bitter” counterpart. Any thoughts? I still love the uniqueness and confusion caused by the pub name. It has always made me smile and the old “empty” pub sign at the end of the road is just a little bit too subtle for people who don’t know! Glad to see it back open.

I saw this place advertised on pitch up as a camping site and seeing as it was my first experience in a long time & taking a baby solo I was quite anxious. Upon arrival I went into the pub to pay for the pitch to be told that Laura would be around to greet us so to pitch the tent.. The campsite its self is lovely, small with a lovely feel about it. It’s very family friendly and is kept to a good clean condition with the toilet and shower facilities being well kept too considering it’s on a camp site. In the toilet there is plugs to be able to charge things which was a godsend as I’d of been lost without somewhere to charge my phone in the case of an emergency. Laura, the lady who runs the site was so lovely, polite and friendly which also made the experience even better as I felt confident that if I needed anything I could ask for help. Overall a lovely experience and will definitely make a return visit (or lots). Would definitely recommend for a quiet, relaxing, sun trap, friendly environment with a chilled atmosphere.

Our local and we love sitting outside in the sun! Thought we would try the Sunday bbq and sadly it wasn’t great. Hopefully it will improve over the weeks as the menu is great however the mixed salad was just leaves, the lobster is small and chewy, all the food came at different times which was a bit annoying and the vegetable skewers were tiny. Prices are quite high however quality and quantity of food wasn’t great sadly! I hope it improves.

Very very disappointing. Family birthday lunch and arrived to be told it was a bbq menu only. Staff were arrogant and rude and it took 30 mins after ordering drinks for them to come to our table. We were told no fries were available (with the bbq not children’s menu) and the children’s hot dog was a reheated frankfurter in a stale white roll. Mains didn’t come with any sides or garnish and when we asked waitress what the mains came with she said she didn’t know. Vegetable skewers were £14 for a couple of pieces of pepper, some undercooked courgette and came swimming in oil. What a shame!

This pub is really called THE White Horse pub but the sign fell down in 1942. Wooden signs were rationed. Later Jack the Landlord was too rude and miserable to re-erect the sign. So the nick name if the pub became THE Pub with No Name. Was a Gales pub but not more. The present owners are very friendly and serve good food. Well worth a visit. Cheers. I’m conflicted about this one. It’s a well known old country pub - but with new owners/management. We visited as a largish party and ate outside in the back garden. A lovely setting. All the food looked “nice” and there were no complaints from us. I had the £16 burger and was disappointed to find it to be of the “small bun, taller than its wide” variety. This makes it a faff to eat and tries to disguise that it’s quite a small patty of meat. I initially wanted a steak but our group has a golden rule - we don’t buy steaks when they are £20 plus. This place, and I may have it wrong, wanted £38.50 for a steak! It might have been £35.80 - no matter. I would never pay that for a simple steak with chips and some veg. Ridiculous. So, a great venue, well known to us all, good beer, great staff etc etc but I can’t see them lasting long if they maintain their prices. A simple pork chop (singular) was £26. A bavette steak £24. Mad! I see on their website that sirloin is now priced at £11 per 100g! Pricing steak per 100g. This is not lobster or expensive deep sea fish. It’s meat from a local wholesale! So. A great pub good food but charging insane prices for simple pub grub.

What a wonderful place! We ended up here on a whim, wasn't expecting much as we knew it was just a pub - but the food was phenomenal. The first clue was the menu, it was very short, which is always a good sign. My steak and my partner's bream were wonderful and the sides were amazing - the quinoa, the slaw and the potatoes were intriguing and utterly delicious. We'll definitely come back here.

Outstanding food – service needs work. Second time here and again, very impressed by the food. Well worth the money. Unfortunately, service is very scattered and no-one seems quite sure whose table they’re responsible for. Senior waitress took our order but didn’t write it down – this always makes me anxious that something will be forgotten – there’s no need to prove you have an outstanding memory – please just write down the order, so you don’t forget anything. Inevitably-they did forget part of the meal, which then took 20 minutes to arrive, by which time we’d nearly finished our main. Nevertheless, worth the wait.

We went for dinner last night. The food is amazing. Really interesting and delicious. The white wine was warm however as hadn’t been in the fridge which is NOT good. Overall, we enjoyed it BUT it is very very expensive. I don’t mind paying those prices if you feel you’ve enjoyed a luxury experience. But this is still a pub….cutlery in tins on the table, basic paper slightly soiled menus and paper napkins and waitresses in scruffy clothes. I would gladly go back had we felt that the exorbitant prices reflected in the entire experience. £200 for a meal for 2 is a lot…and not even a complimentary bread selection! I think the food is worthy of the price providing the rest of the dining experience catches up. Until that happens we probably wouldn’t revisit sadly.

An absolute gem of a place. We were welcomed in by a glowing outside firepit and even warmer staff. We booked on the early side and so chose to sit in the bar area as most of the dining reservations were later. By the time we left, the restaurant was full and with a great ambience. The wine list was refreshingly good (for a pub) and the food was incredible. We had the truffled wild roe deer tartare and the chalkstream trout mi-cit to start, which were beautifully presented and surprisingly light. For mains we had the monk fish with lentils and the bavette steak with a madeira jus and fries, which were both delicious. We will definitely visit again and would recommend to anyone visiting the area or passing through.

Great to see this place back and on form. Mushrooms on toast to start was excellent. Looked like a lot, but the bread was really light and just right for a starter. Then a really good picanha steak (nice to see that cut on the menu). Decent local ale too. Only suggestions would be a variety of leaves on the garnish, and dressing too (I'm sure it should have been dressed, just an oversight). Also, maybe toasted the bread a bit too far. But nothing that would stop me rushing back for another meal though. Good work folks 👍

Particular example, stood at the bar waiting to pay for a packet of crisps for nigh on 10 minutes. A picture perfect pub, in a lovely Hampshire village - surrounded by rolling countryside, ideal for walking. We received a warm welcome from friendly host and staff. The interior is snug and attractively decorated - retaining original features. The stable rooms are very comfortable and well appointed and fairly priced. The wine selection is good and also fairly priced. The breakfast was generous and tasty. My only complaint is towards the quality of the evening meal, which sadly was mediocre and did not meet the general high standards of the rest of our experience. The smoked salmon and beetroot terrine was not a terrine and there was no beetroot on the plate. The leaves were undressed. The Mushroom stroganoff comprised button mushrooms only and white rice that was soggy and over cooked. A variety of mushrooms, some fresh herbs and wild rice would have elevated it. The fish cakes were stodgy and bready and not that pleasant. They were consumed in too much cream sauce. The chef should get some feedback and make adjustments. Aside from this I would definitely recommend this place and go back there if the food went up a few gears - all other aspects are really good and we appreciated the efforts of the staff to give us a good time.

Visited on a Sunday for a roast dinner. My friends and I felt we had stepped into a parallel universe! A couple of our group are experienced publicans ourselves from London and therfore understand the challenges a busy service can bring but this was off the scale. The old couple behind the bar didn't seem to know what was going on and just did precisely that, they stood behind the bar waiting for people to come to them to order drinks, table service seemed too much for them. The young dark haired waitress again seemed to just stand around not even being reactive, let alone proactive. The only saving grace was the older blond waitress who seemed experienced but completely rushed off her feet as she appeared to be the only member of staff who knew what was going on! A shambles. The food was OK but not as per the menu; carrots and parsnips undercooked and not roasted plus the strange addition of mashed potato. We would've complained but there was no check back to the table and didn't have time to wait for the experienced blond lady to come back as she was busy in the restaurant. She could've probably run the lunch service on her own and deserves the pay of 3 members of staff.

"The Pub with no name". Humdinger of a pub, with great food and hospitality, and for a Fuller's pub good beer. Strong Ale is ESB. Not an easy get to, but worth the trip

Food Ok, but told off for adding wood to the fire. Watress told us off for adding a few logs to the fire using the 'BLO##Y' word for the cost of logs. (We only added 3) We were going to stay for another drink but decided not to after being spoken to like kids. After spending over £125, you begrudge us 3 bits of wood. Hence you got no tip, and we wont be back! p.s Website states you shut at 6pm this was 3.45 - and you were shutting at 4pm?

We had a lovely venison pie with creamy mash, broccoli and kale and some ale, all served by a lovely lady! Will definitely pop in again whilst in the area.

We used to love this place But no more Cold - bring a thick coat because the fires are frugal and the draught covers on the doors have been removed The menu is very poor- supposedly temporary but even so cold soup and overpriced basic bread and scotch eggs is taking the Mickey ! And plastic candles on the tables - really- who is running this place one has to ask - is this a real country pub or a plastic thiem park cafe ? Many pubs are struggling to survive and it is really really sad - but this one is committing suicide ! Just awful!!

We arrived at 12.00:and they weren’t ready for customers. It was very cold and unwelcoming . We kept our coats on all the time which is ridiculous. A pub must be warm , comfortable and welcoming. The food took ages to come and the barmaid told us they were busy cooking everything. Several dishes were not available. We waited and the wood burning stove never even got warm though it was lit. I could put my hand on it when we left. The food was ok . My sausages, broccoli and mashed potatoes was pleasant. My friends risotto was “ok “ . Instead of the burger bun my husband had a brioche which made it ridiculously tall. We got the wrong bill for considerably less than ours. When we told them but there was no thankyou. Maybe we should just have kept quiet . Would never go again.

I have visited this pub every few months for over 40 years. I visited at lunch time and was expecting its usual selection of light meals (sandwiches. soup, cheese nachos. ploughmans etc). Sadly the pub changed hands a couple of months ago and they had a very limited menu with about three starters and three main courses, some of which were "unavailable". Had I not already ordered our drinks I would have left immediately. I ordered whitebait, which was OK, but did not have bread with it, and would not have been my choice of a very limited menu option. Sadly, I will give the place a miss, until I hear that its back to its old ways.

Great pub in a lovely country setting. Had dinner here with a friend last night and ate in the restaurant. Very friendly staff made us feel very welcome and food was very good and served quickly. There was a very welcoming fire which we decided to sit around after the main course, as the restaurant was quiet due being an early sitting. We were then offered dessert around the fire, which was a lovely touch!! Will be eating here again very soon, great experience.

I think the very traditional diner like atmosphere, attentive service and tried and trusted breakfast combo's is fantastic. Great value all inclusive breakfast. Hot buttered toast is really good. Seems to attract a real mix of locals who are not interested in fancy, over hyped cafés.

There were some really interesting and lovely things in the barns . We also went for afternoon tea in the cafe/restaurant. The food was delicious and they accommodated for an allergy very well. The only disappointment was there was only one tea available, and we had to go and ask for extra milk . It was an enjoyable experience and the young waitress was very pleasant and helpful
