The Nest Hotel & Restaurant in East Hampshire

Had a great night's stay at the Nest, anything we could have asked for, great evening that met dietary requirements.

Simply amazing! We travelled down from Cumbria to collect a car locally about an 8 hour drive The welcome the food and drink the room the location PERFECT could not have asked for more,nothing was too much trouble. Thanks Amanda and Nick keep up the wonderful work👍

I would not recommend staying here. We paid £140 for a miniscule attic room with a tiny bed. Whilst the decor is pleasant there are some touches which detract from the overall effect - e.g. instant coffee sachets in the room jammed into a half pint flexi cup. On arrival, you are not really welcomed, you get a list of rules shoved in your face and a demand for a £99 security deposit. I have never had this in any other hotel I can think of and sets completely the wrong tone from the outset, the implication being that the customers must not be trusted. Next come all the additional charges - Early Check In? That'll be £25. Want to return after the bar is closed? That's another £15 - even though there is someone on site all the time and all they have to do is open a door which you could just provide a key to anyway. Cooked breakfast? That'll be a surcharge as well. However, it's not a surcharge it's paying full price for a cooked breakfast i.e. around £12 for a full English. The overall impression is that the management want to unjustifiably extract as much money as possible from the hotel guests. This is not necessarily their fault but the staff I dealt with had an unfortunately cold demeanour which gave the impression they simply did not like customers. I've rarely come across people who appear to be so unsuited to their chosen role in hospitality. Unfortunately there aren't too many accommodation options in the area but if you can avoid The Nest, I would. There are many other small business owners who at least give the impression of a customer - focussed approach. As an aside - I don't know why Google makes you give a star rating for "Location". It is where it is and it's either good or bad depending on whether you want to be where is it or not ???

As usual another great meal at The Nest, easy online booking, friendly family run business. The Pork loin from the specials board was a really great dish...The chef deserves applause. A pleasure to dine in a lovely place.

Absolutely lovely stay here, all the staff were so welcoming. Had a quality family feel to it. We had dinner here as well which was incredible. My dad and I had fish and chips, I had a great chorizo scotch egg as well (highly recommend). Had great convos with the host. Would definitely come back again. Perfect stop for South Downs way hikers as well if you want a bit of a rest!

Do not stay here. Especially if staying for wedding. Made it so inconvenient and such rude staff. For a family run hotel near plenty of wedding venues they should be so much more accommodating

Located right on the South Downs Way. Very nicely decorated and cozy rooms. Very nice staff and great service. Delicious food at fair prices. Recommended.

We came here for lunch after a long hike. Lovely staff they were so helpful and the menu has a huge variety of GF food. Freshly baked steak pie and pork crisps were delicious. The duck was fabulous highly recommended!! Bite size dessert platter was so good pistascio macaroon is my fav. Would definitely come back!

We stayed at The Nest for one night so that we could do the local Queen Elizabeth Parkrun. Our room was very nice, we had a superb meal and the hospitality was first class. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us coming back late from Parkrun (which is only a six minute drive way) and we had an excellent breakfast. We'd love to go back when we walk the South Downs Way.

Myself and a friend stayed one evening during a weekend walk along the nearby South Downs Way, and had dinner in the restaurant. I was really impressed by the attention to detail. The rooms are beautifully decorated, carrying the bird theme throughout and mixing both modern and classic design touches. The food in the restaurant was amazing, with a great choice of dishes all delicious and filling. The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming and accommodating. Highly recommended.

This truly is a hidden gem that was superb from start to finish. The owners welcomed us like family and served some of the best food I’ve had. We three each had a different dish All were beautifully presented and unapologetically decent portion sizes. 2 out of 3 of us couldn’t finish. Lastly, if you ever see Pork Belly on the menu I would start queuing early as I’ll be at the front of the queue along with everyone I’ve told about it. What a find.

Visited on a recommendation and it did not disappoint.. the beef dinner was outstanding would highly recommend.. the staff were very polite and friendly and very accommodating to all my needs… will be visiting again

Myself and my friend went for lunch,the menu had plenty of choice and we both decided to go for a light bite of sandwiches, they came with skin on fries and a side salad,it was absolutely delicious! It's not the first time I've eaten at the nest ,I've done steak night and that was amazing, thoroughly recommend 👌

I can’t fault the food at this pub which was excellent but the whole meal was spoilt by one of the owners telling us off at the beginning of the meal as if we were school children. We had booked for 10 but reduced it to 9 earlier that day due to illness, in the end there were 8 of us due to someone else being able to make it. Rather than just make the point once, she stood there going on and on about how we should have let her know earlier and that she’d had to turn away a whole table of 6 people. She repeated this several times. The irony was that a table for 6 sat empty next to us for the entire meal! When we did order my elderly grandmother wanted a starter as a main and the owner visibly bristled as if this was also a disappointment to her. I appreciate that changes to table numbers are annoying but I do not accept that a table of 6 were turned away given the empty table next to us and I suspect this was just said to emphasise how annoyed she was. It ruined the meal and was just really poor service.

Looking for a local place that serves Sunday lunch, website very easy to use including booking a table online. Lovely place for Sunday lunch, plenty of homemade cooked food all cooked to perfection and was still hot to the last mouthful! Will definitely be returning and will definitely be recommending The Nest. Compliments to the chef!

Family dinner. Food was excellent & usual great service delivered with a smile. Varied menu with locally sourced specials. Varied choice of wines including 2 very good Malbecs. We will be going there again certainly

Nothing but praise for this restaurant. A real gem. From the moment we walked in we were made very welcome by everyone. Catch up day with friends, encompassing a walk and lunch out. Great selection of drinks and food. The service absolutely first class, discreet and professional. Food we had at lunch was very well cooked and presented. Good choices. The establishment was spotlessly clean. No hesitation in recommending The Nest. Look forward to our next visit, hopefully Sunday lunch. Thanks to everyone.

Returned to The Nest with a group of friends, highly recommend the Roasts with a great selection of vegetables and the best gravy finished off with sticky toffee pudding. The staff are all attentive and the atmosphere is superb. I love this place! We will definitely be back soon

Fabulous meal, amazingly attentive and welcoming staff. If you’re looking for a real gem off the beaten track, then look no further. The food which our party of eight had was simply fantastic, locally sourced produce, tasty and beautifully presented. The warm welcome from the owners and their staff was simply superb. We will definitely be back.

Fourth visit to the Nest, this time for Mothers Day lunch. This place is lovely, family run with great attention to detail, warm, friendly and inviting. The food was first class, it is the sort of place you could stay all day and still not want to leave.

5 Gentlemen enjoyed a fantastic Sunday lunch which was only improved by a very knowledge and friendly staff. We were recommended by a friend, Barry, who doesn't get it wrong. Thank you for a day to remember. Will return Terry Leon

Outstanding in every aspect atmosphere food and service. This is hand on heart one of the best places in the Uk service is impeccable so friendly attentive thoughtful and professional emily is incredible and Shane and amanda are great. cannot recommend enough.

Great food, good price and very nice setting, went with friends and good service, varied menu with quality produce. Looking forward to trying the Sunday lunch, we had a two course dinner and no room for desert.

We have visited The Nest on three occasions now and the food has always been top notch. Whilst other establishments may reduce the portion sizes with quality food, The Nest does not! Aside from the delicious food, the place is very clean with modern decor. I also find the ambiance is lovely and so much nicer than so many pubs. We are looking forward to our next visit and I have recommended The Nest to many.
