The best restaurants in Brunswick and Adelaide Brighton and Hove South East

We booked the upstairs room. 26 people. All pre-ordered a week in advance. As a retired chef that has run restaurants around the world I feel I have to draw attention to our dreadful experience of this establishment. I honestly dont know where to start. I sampled 5 different peoples pizzas sat on my table. Flaccid and flavourless with a very odd texture. Lifeless quaggy food. I have never seen so much food left on plates with such confused faces. One of the 1st pizzas to leave the kitchen was inedible. So undercooked you could barely slice it. It took a lot of convincing to have it removed from the final bill. It was awful. My Carbonara dish was dire. Whatever cheese you are using in this kitchen to flavour your dishes, please stop. The Whitebait was inedible. The Calamari rings undercooked and again flaccid. Sadly the food ordered for the "birthday boy" was a disaster. Perhaps some education on Dairy-free options will fix this. The upstairs space is lovely; light and airy with plenty of room to accommodate a large group. But, upon arrival to set up at the time booked, the place was filthy. Knowing we were coming the venue was disorganised, drinks fridges turned off, counter tops filthy. WE had to clean it up, NOT the two members of staff. Both of whom had zero training in hospitality or attention to detail. The young girl was clueless on how to correctly serve tables and follow up simple requests. The young man assigned to the upstairs room for our evening of celebration was one of the rudest I have ever seen. Calling a Mother in her 50's who booked the space "darling" well over half a dozen times even after being asked not to do it, an extremely patronising and condescending way to treat a paying female customer. This was in response to errors in both the running of our night and the final, very confusing, billing. There was zero consistancy with what we ordered and what was on the bill. I hate to be the person that writes this, it has to be really bad for me to voice my disgust but I witnessed so much love and thought go into the organisation of this important birthday celebration. Sadly the venue, the kitchen and the staff failed miserably on all levels. I hope things improve for this restaurant. As a group of 26 adults there was a lot of dissapointment. Not a night to remember.

Lovely pub, but I wish they would fix the front door that slams loudly every time someone leaves or enters. Drives me mad and also have heard a few other customers mention it

Food is delightful, fresh and served quickly. Portions are on point too. An absolute hidden gem well worth popping in and worth the wait to get a seat.

Haven’t been to these guys for years since they were based in Hove. Just found out that they now operate from a new venue. Absolutely awesome burgers did not fail to satisfy so glad we found you again. Yummers!!

The menu seems to change frequently and I've eaten here with friends twice for lunch. It has been most interesting to eat dishes we haven't heard of before, and the food has been delicious (on both occasions we have gone back for seconds). Really friendly service. We love the location too. And of course they welcome dogs :-)

Excellent place. Magnificent strawberry cake. the milk was very good. One of the friendliest staffs I`ve ever encountered. captivating atmosphere. if i could marry one place it would be this one. 5 points!

A fantastic cafe with good food and staff . The owner is very friendly and cooks up a great English breakfast. The menu is vast as well and good for all. It is a friendly cozy and clean cafe we’ll recommended

Slow service and an odd atmosphere

Coffee tastes like coffee - which is always a surprise. Amazing homemade Orange cake and generous panini. Such a friendly owner.

Lovely wood fired pizza and a bowl of pasta. Felt and tasted like Italy.

Today I tried Bad boys Burgers and Wings for the first time and the food is so good especially the whole chicken roast, it was very delicious and very well cooked inside highly recommended 👍🏻

every saturday in a very busy time after park run this coffee shop is crazy busy but staff are fast big selection off food and very clean with high standards coffee thanks i recommend it 100%

From the warmth of the welcome onwards, an exquisite evening. A stylishly laid out, two floor restaurant with attractive table settings and glassware. Cool, ambient music also set the scene. Both wine and food offerings limited but well thought out - tasty, beautifully prepared and served. Somehow, Botanique, sets itself apart - quite a unique restaurant.
