General Store in Brighton and Hove

The menu seems to change frequently and I've eaten here with friends twice for lunch. It has been most interesting to eat dishes we haven't heard of before, and the food has been delicious (on both occasions we have gone back for seconds). Really friendly service. We love the location too. And of course they welcome dogs :-)

Enjoyed a lovely brunch here. Although not many tables and you may need to wait and/or share a table it’s definitely worth it. Great selection for brunch and delicious coffee.

Love this shop /cafe, a great place for afternoon tea treats and a great shop to peruse and while away the time whist checking out the wonderful clothes and other merchandise for the home. A gem that must be visited.

Really nice setting, beautiful cafe. Went there with my boyfriend. We were both looking for a quiet place to work at. The stuff were in the room with us and were so loud talking about their lives completely ignoring the fact we are there! There is also no working WiFi. It’s a shame but I will not be back.

The cafe is a small first floor room with probably only about 8 tables, above what I think was a little clothing and homeware shop. It'is all part of the same place and you walk through the shop to get to the cafe above. The food was cooked by the waitress, which sounds like you'd wait for ever but we didn't at all. The food was well done and interesting and the staff were happy to substitute any meat dishes for vegetarian alternatives. The home made cakes were amazing.

Above the lovely iGigi shop. Most amazing window in Brighton or Hove. Lovely cakes. Great brunch food, though sometimes a bit pricey. Great place to while away an hour or two.

The place is small. The kitchen located just next to the tables. Positive is they can make something out the menu if they have enough products. I didn't like when my friend ordered special coffee and after a while the waiter come to us asking "I am sorry but we have no condensed milk for your coffee. If you want - we will go for it"We saw they don't want to go and said that to make us decide.

Cosy little cafe (cash-only) upstairs above the small shop that sells rustic candles and gifts serving tea and cakes and homemade soups and home made sandwiches on freshly baked breads and delicious eggs..

Make sure you don't miss this lovely store and cafe upstairs as it's an inbetweenie! It's not in the centre of town and not as far along as the George street area of Hove but somewhere in between! The staff were all lovely and seemed very genuine! There was an enormous Xmas tree downstairs that wouldn't give quite enough room if you had a pushchair or wheelchair but any time other than Xmas that wouldn't be a problem! The styling was beautiful and very original and looked as if it could grace the pages of an Elle decoration magazine. Upstairs was equally as quaint for the cafe and quite light an airy. The Buck raebit was delicious and most filling and the service was most efficient. I would have preffered a table for two but we had to share with another couple of ladies as they only had larger tables. We didn't mind at all as the tables were't small but others may prefer a little more intermercy! Didn't try the homecakes but they looked delicious! Another reason to return!

Light, bright, airy and pleasant surroundings with good view out onto the street to watch the world go by. It is upstairs though so not suitable for anyone who has trouble with stairs/needs wheelchair access. Although the cafe is not specifically vegan/vegetarian they are always more than willing to prepare a vegan/vegetarian option. The food is cooked in front of you which is reassuring. Absolutely delicious falafel here and rarebit (but very rich!). Lovely cakes, tea, coffee - friendly and accommodating staff. Shop downstairs and in the basement - excellent place to buy presents that are not too wildly expensive and always beautifully packaged free of charge if a customer requests this. Top place.

i gigi is very cosy place, the four and half tables, side counter mini kitchen, and the home made cake dishes all around give the place a very special taste... i gigi is unique place that makes you visit it more and more...

This cafe and store is probably one of the most charming little places in Hove. Forget going to Cafe Nero, i.gigi is amazing and absolute perfection. The staff are friendly and made me feel cozy and welcomed. Food here comes quickly, has amazing flavour, and isn't too expensive. I highly recommend the beetroot chocolate cake and the roasted tomatoes on toast. I can't wait to come back to Hove just so I can eat here again!

The place is absolutaly beautiful! Also gives a really cozy feeling. The food was delicious and the staff very professional. Really recommendable!

This small cafe above the I Gigi General Store is charming, offering brunch with a limited but delicious menu, with daily specials, plus a fantastic selection of homemade cakes for afternoon tea: mouth-watering. Highly recommended.

I wandered into I Gigi cafe with my mum after going into the general store and suddenly realising their was a cafe upstairs. I loved the set up, only 2 servers and an open kitchen so you can see everything being prepared, cakes all displayed under glass bell jars, and real continental feeling to the whole space, very classy. It felt like sitting in a French country kitchen. As a bonus, all of their produce is organic and they Service duskan apple juice in a choice of sweet, medium or dry. The servers were able to cater to my gluten free requirements which was excellent. They serve Monmouth coffee and the staff seemed to be very well trained Baristas. We both opted for a welsh Rarebit (mine was with gluten free bread) and it was stunning, really very yummy, and a coffee named cafe bombón. The café bombón was very similar to a Vietnamese style coffee but is made of espresso (rather than ground coffee) and condensed milk (1:1) sitting in 2 distinct layers. All the food was amazing and the coffee excellent. My only slight grumble was the price- it came in at around £24 (not including Service) for 2 Welsh Rarebits and two (small) coffees. The quality was however fantastic so I would go back there for the occasional treat!

Mi pareja fuimos allí hace 5 años y quedamos impresionados por la comida, el servicio y todos ellos sirven en una hermosa decoración hogareña.Obviamente, fue la primera escala en nuestro regreso a Brighton y no nos decepcionó.Aparte de la comida muy simple, pero saludable y deliciosa, el personal es el más bonito con nivel muy alto de servicio al cliente.Cuando el director oyó que nos clientes habituales, se quitaron algunas de las bebidas de nuestra cuenta, que era un gesto muy generoso e inesperado.Si estás buscando un café boutique precioso donde pasar una hermosa mañana o por la tarde, entonces éste es el lugar para ir! Usted no será decepcionado.

We were lucky enough to be taken here by a good friend for a late breakfast. They accommodated us even though they were very busy. The whole atmosphere is very Parisian. The service is outstanding and the food is a match. Fully recommend.

Yo gigi Cafe es uno de los hallazgos maravillosos en Hove. La comida es divina y es sobresale lo que amamos. Aparte del menú normal también es una tabla de ofertas especiales. Utilizan pan precioso, productos frescos y si te gusta tortas entonces estará en 'cielo pastel'. Nuestro favorito es te permite traer tu pripia bedida alcohólica (precioso) construya su propio pan tostado, aguacate, tomate a la parrilla y un pequeño huevo escalfado. Todos los platos están vestidas con gran atención, decorado para hacer los platos de un aspecto precioso. Nos tomamos nuestros perros cada domingo brunch, ya que es un lugar muy agradable para perros. Arriba y abajo en el personal de la tienda general son sencillamente encantadores. Como asiduos incluso recordar que orden y mimar a los perros. Podemos recomendar encarecidamente visitar :-).

Este es un lugar verdaderamente hermoso y el personal era muy acogedor. Una vez que nos sentamos a sin embargo, somos bastante olvidado.La camarera tomó 20 minutos para tomar nuestro pedido, otros 20 minutos para conseguir el café (que era magnífico, por cierto), luego otra de 50 minutos para conseguir nuestra comida! No es aceptable dado que sólo fue a la parrilla de hongos Portobello con queso feta en un poco de pan tostado. El lugar tiene 3 personal con unos 12 cubre, así que no estoy seguro de por qué el servicio es tan sombrío. Mi plato fue aclarado muy rápidamente, sin embargo, antes de terminar de comer todo! Me preguntó si podía pedir algún pastel. La camarera dijo que sí, y le pregunté si podía darle a sólo 1 del momento, pero 20 minutos más tarde, todavía estaba esperando y la camarera había sentado otras 2 parejas y estaba tomando su orden. No había señal de ella volver a mí. Esta fue mi cue para dejar que yo.El personal parecía muy bonito, pero un poco profesional en su enfoque. Es una pena, ya que su producto es muy bueno. Quizás con un poco más de capacitación y esfuerzo mejorar

Llevé a mi madre aquí para el brunch mientras ella estaba de visita, me avergüenzo de decir que me encanta la vuelta de la esquina, sin embargo nunca la habían en la parte cafetería de Igigi antes mi madre había varias veces y ella estaba desesperada por volver.Es tan única pero encantadora cómo todo está preparado por el lado de usted en un toque genial y organizado no es la palabra que tenía un lugar para todo!El menú es fabulosa, así deliciosas y el trabajo de arte que me encantó! En general me encanta este lugar tienes que visitar! ! !Ahora me siento tan nulas ya es mi favorito sitio al que ir en Brighton y Hove (para comer).

Qué pintoresco café hermoso. Está situado encima de la tienda, así que no necesariamente saben que fue allí!

La tienda es absolutamente precioso y el Cafe es un sorpresa arriba que no todo el mundo sabe. Las tartas son divinos, la comida deliciosa y me encanta ir allí con un amigo o en mi propia casa. Es muy tranquilo, no importa. Brunch de los domingos se llena, así que llegar allí a tiempo.

Had a delicious lunch which was a Spanish omelette and gorgeous chai tea with almond milk. Intimate place to meet a girlfriend and have a good natter supported by professional young staff. Fab and I will definitely be back and have already recommended.

Que gigi es una delicia de lugar. La comida es excelente, el ambiente genial y nada es demasiado problema para el personal amable. No caminar, ir y probar! No se arrepentirá. He tenido huevos revueltos y sopa. Estoy muriendo para probar sus tartas un aspecto inmejorable.

Love this little gem, hidden away upstairs in a beautiful building. The breakfasts are great and made in front of you by the waitresses, but save room for the cake. Cake heaven! That's all!

Molto buono, si presenta in maniera molto rustica, tutto legno in arte povera, piatti molto particolari e ben lavorati nei minimi dettagli. Unica pecca è l'ambiente troppo piccolo, con 3/4 tavoli. Ma ne vale la pena!

This is a small cafe with original cakes. My favorite is chocolate with beetroot. On first floor we can buy some natural staff ( clothes and so on).

Mi marido y yo nos conocimos a nuestro amigo y su nuevo bebé aquí en el fin de semana festivo. Cuando llegamos no había ninguna mesa, pero la señora encantadora ofrecieron a llevar nuestro número y nos llame cuando se convirtió en una mesa. Fuimos a un pequeño paseo y a menos de 20 minutos ella llamó para decir que nuestra mesa estaba lista.
