Dutch Pot in Brighton and Hove

Wow! I don’t know where to start! The curry was perfect and very tasty I could have drunk the juice 🤤 The chicken was unreal I’ve never tasted chicken like it and probably never will unless it’s from here. Regular chicken however seasoned will never be the same 🤩. Cannot wait to try more dishes from this hidden gem/ absolutely amazing find. Keep up the amazing unique culinary experience you continue to provide. I will certainly highly recommend. I think I need an occasion for a booking of exclusivity. Even the sides were delicious and the sauces wow - I’m yet to try a couple of them but judging by the ones I’ve tried already I know they will add a delightfully delicious delicacy to any food dish or snack. Keep up the amazing work and I am counting down to my next meal 😉…… I also need to mention that Luke was very knowledgeable about his products and processes, friendly, enthusiastic and accommodating so #HatsOff keep up the amazing work 👏🏽

Met Dutch Pot at Sheffield Peace and Craft Fair today. Bought a hot sauce. it is amazing, love the taste not hot 0r over powering. 2 hours later I can still taste it in my mouth, pleasant taste will use it next when seasoning some fish. Best hot sauce I have tasted so far. Thanks Dutch Pot

That was the blandest meal I’ve had in a while. Zero jerk seasoning on the chicken. And got an extra pot of jerk sauce. God knows what it was. Some congealed ketchup. It all just tasted like an old campsite. Avoid

I met Luke today whilst walking into Brighton. He is one of the most genuine and funniest guys going! He kindly shared with me some of his delicious jerk chicken, I will definitely order from his place again. As well as selling awesome food he also gives great advice!

Best and original jamaican food and vibes and juices in Brighton.

The chicken was charcoal outside and under cooked on the inside. Ordered a large curry goat , and got bones instead and no goat. 1 out of 10 absolutely disgusted . Called back to complain they didn’t even aswer. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Terrible - no jerk sauce flavour, cheap nasty chicken, rice and peas were so old some of the rice was hard and dry. Didn't get my plantain I paid for. Regret the two bites I took. Avoid.

Really disappointed. I got the jerk chicken and it came with no sauce and was so dry. I also think the meat was smoked and it left a chemically aftertaste such a shame i'd heard such good things.

Really like the chilli sauces and the curry goat but the smoke of the jerk chicken feels off base to me like a interesting choice of wood?

I'm really sorry to say I'm so disappointed. I've honestly never written a review before but I just ordered for collection and the whole meal was cold, despite being dished up in front of me.Cold rice isn't an issue for me, but if the meat is stone cold it's really off putting. Flavour wise, very sweet, but that's personal taste. I'm just very upset about the cold meat for £7, unsafe and a big let down.

Ordered as a delivery and so so impressed. Jerk as smoky as Boston Bay's best! Loved the curry goat, dumpling, plantain and fresh sauces. Awesome!

We used Dutch Pot Brighton's catering services before lockdown for a corporate Women in Business outdoor networking event. The food and service was fantastic! The food was freshly cooked at the venue in front of our guests, which gave us the opportunity to learn about the process of cooking authentic Jamaican Jerk Chicken. Great experience and memories made - we would definitely recommend!

The food always is good. I don't usually go for hot or spicy but from here it's different!! The staff are friendly too

I never write reviews. In fact this is my first. No words can describe how brilliant this place is. Authentic and extraordinary is an understatement. I just want to say for starters how great and genuine Luke is. An incredible down to earth guy Interacting talking on a deep level and just showing me around the place. Not to forget the smokers he incorporates with his honest food That leaves such a great taste which I just desire in food. The food just speaks for its self. Cannot go wrong with the jerk pork. The sauces were all fresh and delicious and just an amazing accompaniment. I’ve been to other places and Luke, you blew them out of the water. Something different which you do and they don’t. Definitely without a doubt coming back again. No questions asked. Top guy you are.

Of all the places to go for Goat Curry, this is the one! I much prefer the open air style environment, as well as a simplistic menu. Every time I order from here, without fail, there is more than enough meat to go with my rice. Theyre available on all your usual delivery companies and come in at the industry standard cost; for top notch quality.

The food usually taste great but the last time we ordered the guy(who I presume to be the owner) was not around when we called to place our order he said he was at a function so we went down the Dutch to place our order but the food was awful as the curry goat was full of bones and fat and the jerk chicken with rice had no sauce and so was so dry. we were so disappointed. The quality of the food should be consistent not sure I'll be going back there any time soon.

Immediately catches your eye walking by and with good reason. You see this little shack with two giant smoking grills out front in a little parking space between to buildings and think "what is this?" What awaits you is excellent food, excellent music and the most excellent manager. We hung out for ages after our meal just chatting about life the universe and everything. A genuinely unique, authentic and beautiful spot. Anyone interested in a genuine experience should absolutely try this one out. Luke, brother, keep doing your thing!

Looked awesome from the get go. Food was delicious, including vegi/vegan options. Fairly priced. Great music. The owner Luke is an absolute legend, ended up hanging out just chatting to him for like an hour after eating. Top recommend in Brighton.

I liked the girl who served here - I didnt like the food served to me because it tasted like it had preservatives in it - it had been charcoaled on the bbq and was very dry - had no chilli kick as well, ...... in short, this is not authentic carribean cooking - sorry, but i think you get your mates to give you reviews on tripadvisor

It's run by a local cooking legend Luke, how made and cooked Caribbean BBQ and sauces with quality reggae music playing. Really friendly and always had a good meal, I buy the sauce to use at home. This is proper Brighton style, alternative and excellent.

Always absolutely top draw jerk chicken and plantain! The service is also 5/5, the chap running the place is really sound too. Good food, good vibes. Support your local.

I don’t usually do this but... Yesterday me and a friend bought 2 portions of Jerk Chickens.. They were charcoaled on the outside and undercooked in the inside. The rice, was tasteless and the beans were overcooked.. Both portions went into bin.

The food was incredible very authentic, the saltfish fritters where on a different level. the service was great, Luke was really lovely and helpful. got to try some of his homemade sauces which were also amazing! would defiantly recommend, new fav place to grab food!

We visited Dutch Pot while staying in Brighton and googling food places near us and after seeing the reviews we thought we would try it out and we are SO glad we did. The place is amazing, the van, jerk drum and little seating area with music playing made it so authentic and the guy that served us was so friendly he gave us a dumplin to try whilst we were waiting and it was delicious. I ordered Jerk Chicken and my wife had Goat Curry to take away and it was a flavour & taste explosion in my mouths and all for such a reasonable price. Everything about this place is great and so worth a visit. Thank you Dutch Pot we loved it

Great food and great guy - Luke is sweet, friendly and makes great food. Easy and perfect to fill you up on a work break or walking through town. Saltfish fritter especially recommended for me. Must try when passing through town looking for a quick meal. Loud! 10/10. Become a tradition for me and my mate on our break every Monday to come eat here - only problem is limiting ourselves to one meal a week ! X

Lovely small careibbean shack serving authentic jerk chicken and curried goat amoung others.Really good tasty food and all cooked on the day on premises.Jerk chicken was yummy tasted good and great flavour. Lots of good sauces and sides the plantain I really enjoyed.I would return reasonably priced friendly staff.

This great take away is situated behind Aldi on London Road in Brighton. We had Pork and rice which was very tasty. The service was excellent and Luke, who served us was so friendly and chatty and that was really nice. We definitely will return. We discovered we also can order online too so may try this next time. You must try this wonderful little place if you get the opportunity :-)

I got the veggie rundown with rice n peas on my lunch break today - Full of flavour, nutritious, satisfying, and amazing value too! Super friendly guy running the place, and reggae tunes setting the scene... Just make sure you don't turn down a smothering of jerk sauce over your meal

My boyfriend and I are here for our lunch on our first trip to Brighton. The food truck was easy to find and the food was absolutely amazing. Right from the first bite we both loved it - it was so full of flavour! The staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming too. If we lived in Brighton we would definitely become regulars here!

Tried the curry goat and jerk mix, curried goat fell off the bone very flavoursome.

Was lucky enough to be able to try the fabulous food Dutch Pot has to offer recently. By far the best locally. The jerk chicken was gorgeous and the sauce............OMG the sauce!!! The dumplings........OMG the dumplings!!! The homemade slaw......(yeah, you get the picture!) The portions are incredibly generous and Luke is clearly very passionate about what he does and very friendly. If you are wondering whether or not you should try it.......?

This is one of the best place to get Caribbean food. The owner put so much work and passion to make sure the chicken is cooked with perfection with the right wood. The goat curry is amazing and the jerk pork worth a try.

This is a great little gem tucked away from the Laines. I work on the area and keep meaning to try it. I had jerk chicken and it hit the spot! The owner was so friendly and went above and beyond and even gave me a sample of the goat which was amazing! Will be back for sure! Such a nice young chap deserves to do really well in life. My friends and I bought lunch today at the Dutch Pot. One of our best experiences with customer service. He was so friendly and went out of his way to make sure we were happy with the food, which tasted great. I highly recommend.

The guys that owns the place is a legend and the food is delicious. Will definitely be coming back! Compared to Cumin Up, it’s accepts card and by far have staff that have some great vibes! Will definitely be returning for more food!

Slow smoked chicken, amazing deep flavour and sauces. The chicken is typically pink but that's normal for this cooking process, worth a google if you are worried. Will happily buy from again.

The deliveroo driver, who was driving for Just eat brought me the wrong order and they were being really long out on the phone, telling me they were going to send me an email in 48 hours or some pure bs, so I jumped in the whip and went down there instead. Like one of the kids from the bisto advert, once you get a whiff of Luke's food from 100 yards away you're drawn in and your feet just follow your nose! I chanced upon Dutch Pot after walking my daughter around the laines in her buggy trying to get her to sleep & I now make it a point to stop in at least once a week for a sneaky lunch on the go. Highly recommend the Jerk Chicken & the Curried Goat. It's a nice, sociable spot too and you will find yourself chatting to Luke, any of his friendly staff and also other customers. Try it once and you'll be hooked!

Went for curry goat, but the fresh jerk chicken smells were so good I changed my mind.... jerk chicken with plenty of gravy so so so so good. 100% recommend a visit if you want a taste of proper Jamacian food.

This food is so good! Best Caribbean in Brighton and the owner is such a nice guy, going the extra mile with each service. The jerk chicken was unreal and the goat curry is like a richer version of a lamb curry, both beautiful dishes and I can't wait to go back!

I’ve lived in Brighton all my life 20 years to be exact. I’ve tried all the Caribbean food that Brighton has to offer and I can whole heartily say that Dutch pot is far superior than the others. Not only because of the food, but the shear hospitality that the owner Luke provides with every visit. He’s always with a smile and forever out to provide for the customers either they be new or long time. That what makes Dutch pot great food and even greater feel of being served properly. My favourite dish has to be the veggie rundown and jerk pork, both are packed with extreme flavour and with a side of his homemade sauces really brings the dish on home. Outstanding and I would love to see who would be able to beat them. Easy answer no one.

I’ve always liked the look of this place so stopped by and had the vegetable rundown. The sauce was divine but the only vegetables were potatoes and another root vegetable (possibly yam?). It was served on rice so it was just a dish of white carbs. I was rather disappointed.

I have been there many times and never been disappointed! My favourite is the jerk pork with dumplings and pineapple mango sauce washed down with a TING (I always spill it tough.)! I have to mention the Goat curry with dumplings and fried plantains wow!

Run by a lovely Jamaican guy, he knows how to cook proper authentic Jamaican food! Absolutely love this place. Good for all occasions but I usually have it for lunch when I’m working in the area. I haven’t had any Jamaican food in Brighton quite like it. Really friendly and chilled place, tucked away in the heart of Brighton (near Brighton College). A true gem and so happy they have started delivering because it will sort a lot of my dinners out as well. The jerk chicken is my favourite! Highly recommended!

Tucked away round the back of London Road, a little shack of gorgeous Caribbean cooking. I had the large jerk chicken and rice and it was delicious. Gets very busy so be prepared for a wait but worth it and the guys that run it are incredibly friendly.

The jerk chicken is the best in Brighton by far. The Director Luke is such a lovely man who provides the best customer service!! If I could give 6 stars I would!! Will definitely be ordering more food again!

Amazing food. Brighton is lucky to have this at an affordable rate. Luke will go the extra mile and delivers the highest level of customer service. He can surely teach other Caribbean outlets a thing or two about customer service. We need more people like him within the community.

Visited Brighton for a long weekend, we were told about Dutch Pot and were not disappointed. The best Jerk Chicken I have ever had!! The guy who served us was amazing and let us try before we chose what we wanted. He has lots of different options for sauces which is great. Will be going back next time we visit for sure.

Am always incredibly impressed and satisfied after a visit to Dutch pot! The meat is so succulent, literally falling off the bone and marinated beautifully! Eveythinf I have tried is bursting with authentic flavours, is beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection, you can tell a lot of love and hard effort goes into the preparation of the food! A* can't wait until I eat from here again! If you have never tried a dumpling...you haven't lived!!!!

I delivered some specially prepared cherrywood to Luke today for use in his drum ovens. His passion for what he is doing became apparent immediately. He is friendly , knowledgeable and determined to "KEEP IT REAL". The smell of his food was so enticing I decided to try a couple chicken pieces with sweet but quite pokey homemade chilli sauce , boy I'm glad did .............DELICIOUS!
