Really nice coffee, not the "best flat white" I've ever had. Service was terrible, no welcome and no goodbye, I expect more from a speciality coffee shop where they're meant to be passionate about the drink. Won't be going here again.

In every town, village and city in the country you will find all the boring, bland coffee houses. Taylor Street Barista is a breath of fresh air. Queens Road, Brighton, just down Queens Road from the station is worth a visit for a coffee, snack or breakfast or lunch. Great range of coffees, well made and good quality food and friendly, helpful staff. You will often find it crowded but its worth the wait. Persist and you will not be disappointed.

Love this little place in Brighton. The coffee is great as are the cakes and pastries. They offer a different treat every day....tiny lemon shortbreads, mini chocolate cookies to die for. The staff are really friendly and welcoming....my favourite place for coffee in Brighton

Amazing coffee. They take care of and understand the beans, giving you a perfect cup every time. If I see v60, chemex or aeropress on the menu, I know they mean business. Such lovely coffee. The food is also to die for, and I love the decor. I also love the fact that the sell the third wave paraphernalia. If you are familiar with caffeine magazine - it's highly recommend by them too. My first stop every time I come to Brighton!

I visit a lot of cafes in Brighton and can quite honestly say that this cafe serves one of the best coffees I've ever tasted. They have guest coffees on offer but I just went with the house and wasn't disappointed.I also had their Carrot Cake, they apologised for not having a larger selection but as it was a bit late in the day the other stuff had sold out. I went with the C C and was pleasantly suprised. it's a staple in cafes so I've become rather bored with it. This was something else and raised it up from something that is usually over sweet to something scrumptious, and full of additions; nuts, other soft fruits and mmmmmm. will definitely return.Service was fast and pleasant

Sunday morning and I wanted an espresso and a cornetto pastry. A perfectly normal desire in Italy but in Brighton I was willing to compromise a bit, so I asked where to go for a good espresso? Baristas .....was the reply. (A good example of Beware of what you ask for). You enter a scruffy, gloomy room with furniture to match. Turn a blind eye, I am here for the coffee. Result a perfectly acceptable single espresso, rather nasty croissant type pastry which I left. Advise you avoid especially if you would rather sit down somewhere clean.

This is going to sound like the owner writing the review, it isn't, it was the first time I'd been to this establishment. Had Breakfast here with the wife on 6th December 14. Outstanding value, bit quirky but that's fine. The quality of the food was some of best I've ever had, home made baked beans and hash brown (I asked). Excellent Coffee and tea. Good location. Plenty of locals. We will return!

Great staff, I asked for poached eggs rather than scrambled and they were more than happy. It was the best poached eggs on toast I've ever had. Lovely. My tea was also awesome, so flavoursome, and as the previous reviewer said, pre brewed so that it was just right when it came. My family had carrot cake which was amazing too. Brill. Thank you for a lovely breakfast.

I have lots of favourite cafes in Brighton - allegedly we have more coffee shops here than anywhere else in Britain, and quite possibly the world - but TSB is probably the one I visit most often. The breakfasts and lunches are tasty AND original: yes, they have the usual Full English, but also do interesting dishes like veggie fritters, frittatas and salads. The small selection of cakes is definitely worth exploring. I visited Australia in April and this is the closest to a Melbourne or Sydney cafe, with that lid back vibe, and the same respect for brunch as a life-enhancing force for good. Little touches like the big bottles of water, the wide choice of coffees and the funky courtyard outside make it one I love to visit. And so does the dog. Only downside? They don't ALWAYS have the eggs florentine on the menu, and as they usually do the best hollandaise in town, that can be a disappointment.

Flat white fine. Soy flat white average. Posted picture. A place that prides itself on its coffee and charges based on a customer expectation of consistency should deliver. If you muck it up best make another one. Carrot cake was very nice and no complaints about service. Possibly a bad day for them as they had ok reviews on bean hunter 8.5/10. But other better options perhaps. Nordic cafe had better flat white

This coffee shop is on the road running up to Brighton station, I came here after experiencing their branch in central London. The Brighton branch was better! It is small but there are a few cosy seating areas and a pleasant courtyard area at the rear. The staff seemed laid back and knew their stuff about coffee. The barista was hand crafting each cup to perfection so consequently you may have to wait a few minutes to get your drink. The latte was priced quite a bit higher than in a high street chain (£2.90) but worth every penny. It was perfectly velvety and the sweet milk tasted just right next to the house espresso. if you like decent coffee you have to try it.My only negative point was to do with the food, I didn't buy anything as all of the pastries/cakes/sandwiches (which looked nice) were in uncovered cases/counters and there were a couple of bluebottles hanging out overhead -yuck!

The cakes looked delicious and unusually, there were a number that were presented as gluten free. However, having had one of these on Monday, I'm still very unwell with coeliac problems. It seems that the carrot cake was made with Buckwheat, and the flapjack is made with oats, neither of which is safe for coeliac sufferers, so no one had made the effort to find this out before selling these as gluten free. It's really difficult to find nice cakes which are gluten free, so this is really upsetting. Also not too impressive to see the casual attitude to potentially making people ill.

Having spent the last two years in Auckland I am fuelled by coffee. Currently back in Brighton for a few weeks I needed to find somewhere decent for my fix. Taylor St was recommended and did not disappoint. Smooth coffee, good crema and even some art. The "Flat White" is the typical coffee quaffed in NZ and while not perfect, this was the best attempt by a UK coffee shop to date.Nice relaxed atmosphere and a range of blends available. Will be back.

It took us a few months to visit Taylor St after moving to brighton, now we've finally found it we have stopped getting coffee from anywhere else. Their coffee is perfect, we are from Australia, so very fussy about coffee. The staff are so friendly and unpretentious which is a lovely change from other coffee shops in Brighton. The food is also delicious and reasonably priced! Try the vegetarian sausage rollsDon't forget they have the best loyalty system in place, every 5th coffee is free!! even if you eat in!

Brighton is a place with a lot of good places to get a cup of coffee, but this ranks among the top few for beverage quality. Service is friendly and usually fast, even when the place is very busy, which is often. Food is good too, whether it's a cookie (had a fab Anzac last time I was in) or a big cooked breakfast. The popularity of the place is a testament to the quality of the food and coffee and in some ways is its only downside - I'd love to park myself and my laptop at a table and spend a couple of hours working and getting heavily caffeinated but it's a small place and I'd feel guilty about hogging a space when there are lots of people waiting.

We entered the cafe for breakfast and were greeted by positive and friendly staff. They informed us of seating outside in a coffee garden so we made our way out. The outside area out back was a bit small and gloomy at first due to surrounding buildings shading the area. However, we ordered the pancakes for breaks which came with maple syrup and a fruit salad and greek yogurt. It was delicious as the pancakes were thick and fluffy with the fruit complimenting the pancakes nicely. Their cappucino was also of good standard and was presented nicely with a pattern made in the froth. All in all a positive experience and worth going for the pancakes.

If you like your tea properly made and brewed then this is the place for you. The staff insist on allowing sufficient time for the tea, made from leaves and not bags, to brew before serving it to you. Whether you 'take away' or drink 'in store' you therefore get a real taste experience and it will entice you to keep on returning. The room's decor is rustic, you might have to share a table and there is some outside seating. In addition to the drinks there are plenty of cakes and cookies on offer, as well as breakfasts and light lunches.

Coming from Australia and arriving in the land of Tea drinkers I quickly decided to stop drinking coffee or at least what was thought to be coffee over here. I cannot believe the rubbish they sell over here. I noticed this place on a trip to Brighton, I could smell and see from the moment I saw the place i was onto a winner. And i wasn't disappointed at all, I was hooked again after the first sip. Two coffees later and now i make reasons for my wife and I to go to Brighton so I can get my fix. Had breakfast and lunch there and both were tops. Funny how the place is owned by Australians and the Baristas were Australians. Good on ya mate!!

Forget ALL the coffee chains and cafes in Brighton - this is THE place for coffee lovers, and there dark chocolate is to DIE for!!!Foodwise, to me, the maxim is - you get what you pay for.Breakfastwise their menu cannot be touched - all the ingredients are top class, and cooked and presented with the same care and attention - BUT I feel the prices reflect this.

The coffee is up there with the best that Brighton can offer. You get serious long blacks and flat whites here from the New Zealand wing of the Proper Baristas Party. The food is always tasty - especially the risotto specials and the fine use of halloumi in sandwiches, etc. Wifi is fast and reliable. There is a a small courtyard out the back.

We had the pleasure of a late summer mini break in Brighton a few weeks ago and on a lovely sunny Saturday morning a decent coffee and a spot of brunch seemed like just the thing to set us up for a walk along the beach to Hove.Taylor St Baristas is situated no more than 5 minutes from the train station, on the main drag which takes you down to the beach. When we arrived at about 11am it looked full to bursting, we were about to turn tail and look elsewhere when one of the very friendly young lady baristas caught our eye and motioned us out back where we found a small terrace with a free table with our name on it.A menu was soon provided which contained some very tasty looking brunch selections. I kicked off with a flat white which was an excellent example of the baristas art; just the right temperature, lovely consistency and a good strength. B had the filter coffee, which as warned was a little while in the making but was well worth the wait.On the food front B eggs royal which looked pretty good and came with plenty of smoked salmon. However, the real winner had to be my choice of rarebit which came with a generous portion of ham and was topped off with a perfectly fried egg - looked divine and tasted even better.I finished off my brunch with a double piccolo which was as pretty as a picture in its little glass and packed a nice caffeine punch. By this time all was good with the world and we had been set up beautifully for a stroll along the prom.On our way out we stopped to admire the collection of coffee porn at the front of the shop. All manner of equipment is available to purchase, at very decent prices, to enhance your coffee drinking pleasure including my own personal favourite the aeropress. I narrowly avoided leaving with a very attractive individual coffee grinder - but I like to think that this gives me yet another good reason to return to the most excellent Taylor St Barista.

Wow! I don’t know where to start! The curry was perfect and very tasty I could have drunk the juice 🤤 The chicken was unreal I’ve never tasted chicken like it and probably never will unless it’s from here. Regular chicken however seasoned will never be the same 🤩. Cannot wait to try more dishes from this hidden gem/ absolutely amazing find. Keep up the amazing unique culinary experience you continue to provide. I will certainly highly recommend. I think I need an occasion for a booking of exclusivity. Even the sides were delicious and the sauces wow - I’m yet to try a couple of them but judging by the ones I’ve tried already I know they will add a delightfully delicious delicacy to any food dish or snack. Keep up the amazing work and I am counting down to my next meal 😉…… I also need to mention that Luke was very knowledgeable about his products and processes, friendly, enthusiastic and accommodating so #HatsOff keep up the amazing work 👏🏽

Went with friends Monday 28th. My first time in a vegan/vegetarian restaurant for a number of years. The menu looked fantastic so the four of us tried the tapas. Started and ended the night with brilliant cocktails. The tapas was a taste sensation and a great way to try out different things. Staff were helpful and lovely. I can’t wait till I am back in Brighton to go there again. I am still talking about how fantastic it was five days on.
