Incredible taster menu. We were lucky enough to be the only diners so had the chef and sommelier to ourselves for 3 and a half hours! Also did the wine pairing which was fantastic.

Introduced to Oscar’s by my sister who lives a few miles from Cartmel, we celebrated my wife’s birthday with a family meal there a few days ago. Fabulous food and service and a great atmosphere. The sausages in honey and mustard were amazing. Highly recommended, we’ll certainly be back again.

Two weeks prior to arrival we were contact to confirm our food preferences and allergies. My wife stated she did not want ceviche and was told that the any fish dishes would be therefore cooked. On arrival this was checked and reaffirmed but when the second dish arrived my wife's fish had been substituted with turnip. We explained the historical communications and the waiter stated that the remaining dishes would be cooked. Unfortunately, the next fish dish was also replaced with turnip. The Sommelier was very aggressive and when we asked if we could alter the wine paring (£150 each) to incorporate a less dry wine taste he refused to acquiesce and appeared angry that we such make such a request. He stated the wines were prepared to match the menu, yet two dishes which were fish had been delivered with turnip? His knowledge of wine was restricted to those on the pairing list and any discussion about different wines were curtailed immediately. The entire evening was rushed from sitting down and being pushed for a cocktail or glass of champagne to racing through 15 courses at the restaurants pace not the customers. The 3 stars may represent the sustainable sourcing and preparation of the menu but the actual taste of the final product was underwhelming.

We visited and stayed overnight in the rooms above Rogan and Co, we had dinner to celebrate my husbands birthday and then breakfast the following morning. Every single member of staff from reception, housekeeping, waiting staff were very friendly, helpful and polite to us, their level of customer service was outstanding. The bedroom was beautiful, local materials used for curtains, cushions etc, the bed was extremely comfortable with both soft and harder pillows and everywhere was spotless. The highlight of our stay was dinner, each course was explained to us, we had the paired wine and each wine was described to us as well, this made our experience so enjoyable, we were made to feel so special and the food was absolutely amazing, my husband also got a birthday cake and lots of the staff wished him happy birthday. The breakfast was excellent too and we were given cookies to take away with us. I’m certain that we will return soon, we’ve never stopped talking about it since we arrived home. Thank you to all of the staff for making our weekend such a memorable one x

Having previously visited thought we would stop in for lunch. Sat at table. No staff acknowledged us. No offer of menu. Group who had come in after us were offered menus then waitress proceeded to take their order. At this point we decided to leave. Still not a word spoken by any staff member. Very unprofessional and poor customer service

Incredible food and excellent service from Richard and his wife who created a warm welcome. we arrived on a cold Tuesday afternoon and sought refuge in this fine establishment awaiting a meal in the famous L'enclume restaurant. The fire was roaring and the place felt homely. The menu was very attractive and the food top quality. We opted for Brie and Richard suggested a Pedro Ximénez nectar to accompany the dish wish was in deed nectar. We will be returning for an overnight stay and having completed our visit to Cartmel's fine dining we would gladly switch the 3 star rating to this establishment.

Lovely family run hotel in idilic location with great views from rooms. Very warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere in hotel lounge greeted by very friendly staff team. Service is excellent and food home cooked by the owner Sue. Went new years eve with our dog who had treats waiting in our room. There was a lovely buffet included in the evening for all guests and an amazing chillie beef included the following day for Dinner. Breakfast as always was fresh cooked local produce...cooked by sue and served by Denise...nothing is to much trouble. Chilled out with drinks by the wood burner and chattered with other guests and Sue and Alan. Thanks also to Mathew Dylan and Lilia for professional and attentive service. Phenominal veiw of stars and VENUS on a clear night. As always a great stay. Will be back in 2025...book us in....all the best to all the team...HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.X JULIE DEREK and Riley.x

A popular independent coffee shop in the lovely village of Cartmel. The coffee and other drinks are excellent and not unreasonably priced. Home made cakes, tray bakes, slices etc make a delicious addition to your coffee. More substantial fare is available, too. The welcome is warm and the service is friendly and efficient. Highly dog friendly and the odd dog biscuit is always available at the counter. Highly recommended - I'm there every week and I love it.
