The best restaurants in Ambleside and Grasmere South Lakeland North West

This place is a must visit! We came into Bellis for lunch, the restaurant was very busy but service was fantastic, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious with a short wait for food considering how busy it was. We will be returning when we come back to the lakes again for a holiday!

Auradaze was an incredible restaurant. Darren and Laura just amazing hosts. The food was incredible and a great selection! The atmosphere was so homely. We couldn’t have asked for a better meal. Thank you very much!

So I love the concept and I really wanted it to be 5* fantastic. It was still a great weekend but there are some areas for improvement What I liked: Comfortable room Great location easy walking distance to town The milk fridge Friendly staff Very clean What could be better: Ensuite bathroom fixtures felt clunky e.g. taps you needed to muscle closed and a shower that wanted to spray everywhere. Breakfast service was slow - just not enough people at peak times. Water in shower on Sunday was not hot enough.

We booked a room and were greeted by a not-so-polite receptionist who told us that kids are not welcome. “We are adult only”. There was no information about this in the booking confirmation or anywhere visible. They kept saying, “We’ve never had guests with kids before; you’re the only ones.” They just managed to guess the hotel rules somehow. Rude. However, the manager was polite enough.

Very pretty inside, lovely food

A lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Fabulous food, beautifully presented, that was both creative and tasty. A delightful experience.

Visited as staying up the road and had good reviews. Well it lived up to them. Small shop only 4 sits inside and 2 tables outdoor. Had cinnamon bun was lovely and wife had chocolate slice said it was lovely as well. Heading back home tomorrow but planning on picking up a sandwich and another cinnamon bun for the drive back south. Staff Member's really friendly to, can't fault anything.

Gorgeous place to stay with infrared sauna, and 10% of food AND drink at the nearby Distillers Arms!

V good. Good value . Nice food. Generally v good service. Great location. Clean. Quite good spa facilities. Comfortable beds.

Really good venue gey yourself down

We didn't eat so can't comment on the food but this is my favourite pub in Ambleside; it has nooks, snugs and rooms on different levels as well as real fires, velvet benches and real ale on the pumps.

Really friendly cafe, the lady behind the counter was super bubbly and friendly it was a lovely welcome. We really enjoyed our cheese, ham and chutney toasted sandwich and the salad and coleslaw was fab too. Will be back.

The Yan recently hosted us for a photoshoot for Go Outdoors, the team were incredibly helpful and welcoming, and patient with us with all our crew and vehicles. The setting of The Yan is stunning, you feel immersed in nature, but also close to Grasmere and Ambleside for exploring. The catering which the team provided was wonderful also. Thank you so much to the team at The Yan.

Excellent cafe...fresh food good coffee great views and friendly service. If you have a scone try it with the owners home made rhubarb jam....extremely nice. If this was sold by the jar, to take home, it would be on its way.
