Lake View Country House in South Lakeland

Gorgeous place to stay with infrared sauna, and 10% of food AND drink at the nearby Distillers Arms!

We had a lovely couple of nights at the Lake View Country House. This place is perfect for people wanting to travel with dogs as there are 100's of places to walk, and dogs are welcome to stay here. You get 10% off the local pub just up the road, which is a nice bonus. A lovely garden area to picnic and/or let the dog have a run. And a quick walk down to the lake side.

Amazing location,beautiful views in every direction. Host was great. Bath/shower in apartment both excellent. Location basically in the heart of Grasmere but also secluded and quiet. Excellent Value for money. Highly recommended 👌

Lovely couple of nights here - we have low expectations of anywhere described as pet friendly but the room was spotless. Superb location for walking, with a range of eateries and other attractions on the doorstep. Great location, great accommodation and great host - can't fault it.

We stayed in the cottage while on a walking holiday, and it served our purpose very well.One bedroom is windowless, which was quite disappointing.Quite basic but centrally located, and there are plenty of cafes nearby.The associated pub does good food.

10/10. This is one of the best, if not the best, places we stayed in the UK. Owners and staff are very friendly, we arrived little earlier than expected and we're allowed to check in early. This is a boutique hotel in very quiet location just a minut walk from the main road thorough the village and few minutes from the lake. Our room, Treetop, was the only one available at the time of booking and was exceptionally good. Nice decent size, very clean and beautifully decorated with exposed timber and bricks. Lovely large bathroom, comfy large bed, selection of coffees, teas and even hot chocolate. The place is dog friendly and do not charge extra for their stay which is absolutely brilliant. Prices are very reasonable and we got 10% discount at their sister business, Good Sport Bar, which is couple of minutes walk from the house and serves great food and nice selection of drinks. We loved our stay and will definitely be back. I truly recommend Lake View Country House.

We loved our stay here and would definitely come again. There was a nice communal area and garden area to relax with a drink at the end of the day. In the centre of Grasmere so just a walk away from shops and restaurants however still a very quiet location. Lots of wildlife around. Very family and dog friendly too.

Richard and his wife live on site and are very helpful with many suggestions for local interesting walks and museums. They also have an associated pub/restaurant, The Good Sport, which is wonderful as well. A terrific experience every day!

Good location, friendly staff, nice room and bathroom. Wouldn’t have booked if I realised it didn’t have a shower, though.

Stayed in 'The Cottage' part of the building. Very clean and full of character - loved it.

Home from home experience. Dog friendly. Great location. Peaceful. Lots of wildlife. Short walk from the lake. Nice garden space. Lovely accommodation. Very clean. Lots of helpful extras during your stay like dog blankets, brollies, maps etc. Communal and room brewing gear. Ever so friendly, helpful owners. Mobile signal good (4G) but WiFi doesn't connect well although there's a guest connect. Use hot spot and it's fine. TV in room is small and streaming isn't good if you wanted to watch any serious TV. Environmentally sensitive and lovely ethical toiletries hand made in the Lakes. Feels a nice safe place to stay too for a solo traveller! Safe car parking on site.

My favourite place to stay in the Lake District (we've been many times!). Key pros: The location feels very secluded but you are just two steps away from the town. Views are stunning. The breakfast served at the pub across the road is fab. There are maps, tea and coffee in the entryway and the owners are very responsive.
