We’ve eaten here a few times and the food is usually freshly prepared and reliably good. But on this visit, we weren’t blown away by the Sunday roast. The roast potatoes were under seasoned, the veg was over seasoned and we’d be amazed if the lamb was freshly roasted/carved, it seemed pre sliced and was very average. The service was friendly, but slow rather than steady, we had young children in our group and their food came with the starters so they had to wait a really long time before the rest of us were ready to order the desserts, giving them time to get quite restless. We also had a missing meal from every course, and had to remind the staff of what had been ordered. It was nice enough but I wouldn’t race back for a Sunday roast.

Great microbar who sell a very good range of real ales and beers etc. Good service and atmosphere, outside seating area, and reassuringly busy most of the time. They don't sell food, but do have an excellent chippy next door. Highly recommended.

Could not have asked for any better service or food. Having been in earlier in the day with friends who let slip it was my birthday I returned to enjoy a fabulous meal. A table all decorated and a card. The food was good and the service from Lucy and the staff was above and beyond. I will certainly be returning

We held a 60 th Birthday celebration at the Lookout on Saturday. What a wonderful venue for a party. Andrea and Ben helped us with the organisation. The food was incredible, the venue stunning. We had a day to remember . I cannot rate them highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble. If you are considering a special birthday, a wedding, Christening etc look no further. It's unique location and atmosphere are spectacular. A wonderful young couple who deserve the support of a community. One regret , we can't do it all again. Thank you Andrea , Ben and all of the wonderful staff. Absolutely Amazing.

Last visit wasn’t great, pleased to report much improved this time round. Special chow mein was really good, massive portion & plenty of meat / prawns. The spring rolls are massive & very good too.

We stopped on a whim while driving by looking for somewhere to eat, and the Google reviews prompted us to stay! We were not disappointed, two delicious main courses. Can recommend the Cumberland Ring! Staff were friendly and polite and the wait for food wasn't too bad considering the care which went into its preparation!

A very disappointing dining experience on Sunday 1st June. We arrived and sat down with drinks and menus. Our orders were taken and we waited expectantly....and waited.... and waited. After half an hour our starters had not arrived. We asked a member of the staff what had happened to our order and after 5 minutes she returned and said that our order had not been received in the kitchen for some reason. She said that we should expect our starters in two minutes. After another approximately 15 minutes, our started eventually arrived with an apology for the wait and an offer of a free round of drinks - which we accepted. The prawn cocktail was a little uninspiring - plenty of prawns in sauce and a bit of lettuce. The chicken liver patte was even less inspiring. The main courses followed soon after. The roast beef was very chewy. The roast half chicken was plentiful but rather dry. The roast potatoes and mash were fine, as were the Yorkshire puddings. However the other vegetables were another matter. The carrots and broccoli looked like they had been cooked in the microwave - the broccoli was over cooked and soggy, whilst the carrots were soft and mushy on the outside but hard as rock in the middle. The staff were pleasant enough and when we were asked if everything had been OK we had to tell them the sad truth. Again, apologies were offered along with signs of embarrassment. To be honest they looked a bit stressed out - there was a big birthday party being catered for and I think they were slightly overworked. I went to the bar to pay with my credit card and we walked to the car park only to be chased by a member of staff who queried whether we had paid! Talk about adding insult to injury. Luckily I had kept the receipt which I produced, much to the embarrassment of the member of the staff. More apologies and a 'see you later'. Well, sorry, but you won't be seeing us again. Poor internal communications, poor food, and general incompetence. Never mind, you got £61.10 out of us.

There was barely any food or drinks. All the options were pretty decent! 😊 Even though you won't be able to find any non-alcoholic options on the website, don't worry, there are some. Root beer is my favourite. Service is nice and knows English. Atmosphere 10/10.

Visited this morning, ordered 2 large breakfasts, 2 teas and 2 cakes to take home. The breakfasts were served, we noticed items were missing off both plates, I informed the waitress who was lovely and asked if we would like anything else, so we asked for an extra pot tea to share as we was already eating, (apparently items had just ran out when it came to plating ours up? The table across who ordered before me was also missing items?) The manager came over and said we wasn't allowed another pot of tea but we could have an extra hash brown each.... confused because surely a tea bag is less expensive than 2 hash browns?? Manager brought us the hashbrowns... frozen still in the middle. When we first visited the day after reopening after renovation, the whole service was spectacular, absolutely faultless, what's happened? Cakes were great and so was the tea.
