I visited House of Habesha yesterday - it felt like the most approachable way to try Ethiopian food here in Manchester, and it didn’t disappoint.
I went for the House Platter, which was just under £20. It included two meat dishes (beef and chicken), two lentil dishes, a mixed vegetable dish, a spinach dish and a fresh green salad - all served on one large platter, with rice in the middle.
Honestly, the food was really good. This was my first time trying Ethiopian cuisine and it absolutely hit the spot. Everything tasted clean, wholesome, and full of flavour. Each dish had its own unique flavour and approach. And is a great entry to try a variation of Ethiopian flavours without committing to a single large portion. My favourite dishes were the Timito (red spicy lentils) and the Dorho.
The location’s convenient too. If you're driving, the Quayside Mall has an affordable car park nearby. The platter felt a little pricey for a tasting-style dish, but to be fair, the portion was generous, and street food in general today is pricey.
They're based inside Kargo MKT, surrounded by other interesting food stalls. Overall, a really great experience will be going back!

The bar has a great atmosphere and the service directly from the owner is friendly and quick. If I had known that rooms were available I would have booked straight away.
The recommended rum - Bumbu - had an excellent taste and was a very good tip.
I ordered it straight away at home.
We were very satisfied…see you next time!

I'm leaving a review so I remember to go here again some time. The food was awesome, portion sizes were excellent, and the wait staff was pretty good. My friends and all I enjoyed our food and the experience. We had to walk around a bit before figuring out it was actually in the casino itself.

10/10 the best mocha I have tried! The perfect combination of coffee and chocolate.
The prices are good considering they are an independent coffee shop. £3.80 for a large mocha and it is large!
They have a wide selection of foods ranging from sandwiches to deserts which you can try. They are very nice. I recommend the brownie blondie.
The staff are very friendly people 😊
A must go place!
The quality of the food is excellent and the team nice, welcoming and really hardworking.
Its nice to spend your money into people like them that have that passion for making food... And you can taste it.
Merci merci Cubanito, really good job / concept.
Visited last week on the 17th of September at 11 am ish. I spoke to a lovely guy on the phone as I couldn’t find the store and he guided me in to where it was (in a small precinct behind a row of shops) I was impressed he was great and wanted to buy my husband a present as I was in Manchester for a couple of days.
Totally different experience when I got in there, I asked a man behind the counter could I have this top in a size small, and he said yes I’ll go and get you it. He then said to a man looking at some T-shirts “is there anything you like there Rodger?” He replied yes can I have this T-shirt in a large he said I’ll get you one too and off he went. When he came back after about five minutes he totally ignored me and started chatting to the Roger gentleman and a man that was trying some clothes on in the waiting room and was putting the T Shirt through the till for him.
This went on for awhile and I just felt Totally ridiculous because I was just stood there like a spare part, especially because I was in there first. He was putting the gentleman’s T-shirt through and didn’t acknowledge me at all and I was waiting quite a while so I just thought get lost I’ll order it online which I have done. It was actually worth the £5 extra just to get out of the store. Not good really because your market leaders with an amazing product. I’ll just stick to online thank you
We have been meeting here every 6 months for several years now. The staff have always been efficient and friendly and the food is good - although it's a pity that they no longer offer the sticky toffee pudding.
