It was one of the best restaurants when it first opened about two years ago, but now it wins as the worst. The quality of the meat is very bad and the rice is also bad.
I called in especially to taste scouse, the staff were lovely but the food is not great, I had scouse which I can only describe as bland meatless soup and my wife had a steak pie which consisted of crust and gravy no meat, very disappointed in maggy mays especially after every other place I ate in liverpool on my stay the food was great
La comida era preciosa y un montón de ella, no podía comer todo. El kebab de pollo era precioso. Personal encantador, muy amable. Definitivamente vendrá de nuevo. Gracias 😊
You can’t really go wrong with Pieminster. Always an excellent pie with quality sides, catering to all dietary preferences/requirements, whichever of their restaurants you visit. Unfortunately at their Liverpool location, service really doesn’t stack up.
Service got off to a rocky start when I was informed that draft beers were unavailable as they were changing all of the barrels over. I said nevermind, I’ll take a can, but would happily wait a couple of minutes to finish changing the barrels and have a draft. I was then informed that they were being changed ‘next week’ as they had no fresh barrels to change to, therefore it’d have to be a can???
Food was about a 30 minute wait, as reiterated to a group of diners who entered after we ordered. Not a problem by any means but the restaurant was very quiet and only three or four tables were seated when we entered, so I dread to imagine how long service would take when the place is at capacity. I suppose it’s not really any wonder how quiet the restaurant is, given that their website says they aren’t even open on a Sunday.
We really enjoyed our meals when they got to us, but our portions of gravy were only half filled. As typical northerners, this was instantly clocked as a problem and more gravy was requested as soon as our food arrived 😆. 10 minutes pass, food nearly finished, not a drop of gravy remains. I ask the other member of wait staff - as the fella I initially asked had done about 10 laps past our table in this time and had clearly forgotten entirely. She brought a single portion over (I reiterate, we’re northerners - you’re gonna need a bigger boat!).
While we waited for her to bring our gravy, I noticed her deliver a couple fresh pints of draft beer to another table… Clearly they practice witchcraft here as a week can pass in the space of an hour. Or maybe I really was waiting an entire week here for extra gravy… Who knows…
Table cleared, no deserts offered. Fine, I guess we’ll take the bill and head off then! Oh right, subject to that 10% discretionary service charge that your menu states is only applicable to parties of six or more (there was four of us). Of course the discretion is all down to you as a diner, you can’t really expect the staff to use common sense and knock it off when they know there’s been a shortfall in their service?
No. You can make the awkward request yourself, and then when the waitress looks you in the eye like you’ve just insulted her whole family, huffs and chuffs back to the kitchen for a replacement bill, you begin to wonder if maybe you’re being unreasonable. Frankly, I don’t think it’s fair to just bump service charges without a valid reason, or to just keep it to yourself and hope the staff read the feedback from your mind on how they can improve. In most UK cities, a service charge is the norm, and what’s an extra couple of quid on the bill matter after a nice meal with good service?
Well when I let her know that we wouldn’t have an issue with the SC if not for the shortfall with the refusal to serve me a pint or some extra gravy promptly (which they charged us £1.50 for one more pathetically small boat - or dinghy, which would be a much more appropriate term for that vessel!). Major attitude problem when she starts trying to cut me off after every word saying nothing besides “ok”.
My conspiracy theory? These guys are downsizing portions on a quiet night trying to rinse a bit of extra money on the service charge when you buy extras. No pints of beer, why not spend more on two cans? Half servings of gravy, pay us £1.50 each to make it a full one?
I know this isn’t the norm for Pieminster, having dined at their other restaurants previously - but it’s very disappointing nonetheless. Fortunately after a quick trip to the Tesco round the corner to buy something sweet to follow our meals with, and after spending the money we saved on service charge on snacks for the homeless fella outside, we knew the money had gone to someone more deserving.
Well with liverpool on tier two hope to see restaurant open again as had been lots of times with my friends prices were allways good, they run a take away service with the covid close down, but now its tier two and open again I hope Derek moores, do try it you will be pleased 😀 👍 🎅
I don’t usually leave reviews reviews but felt I had to on this occasion. Wonderful views of the city, great atmosphere and brilliant service shout out to Issy and Manager Hayley who made sure my birthday night out was truly amazing. Me and my friends will definitely be returning soon. I have been telling everyone about the amazing cocktails and staff thank you girls you really made it a night to remember.
First impression - lots of empty seats but is it really that bad? As i entered on my own for lunch i wanted a table for 1. They looked at me funny but whats wrong with a table for 1?
Anyway I was short on time as I needed to catch the train. I opted for the beef noodle soup but WOW it was so BLAND. Pho is supposed to be flavourful within the broth but i couldnt even add salt to justify the taste.
Im not one to complain as i love my food but I would like to inform others that you may find better elsewhere

Gave me a great birthday on the Friday 7th of Feb. It was empty towards the end but the bar staff gave me what ive been looking for, for a long time. Doormen were sound as well. I've never tipped like I did that night before, that's the quality that the bar staff had when creating a great time for customers. Big shout out to the young lad with longish strawberry blonde hair (sorry bro, it was dark) and the guy who had a red fringe, a neat and tidy black beard and moustache, who wore a hat. I'm ever so sorry about forgetting your names, one of you was calem, and I can't remember the other. I'm sorry. Anyway, shame it had to close, it was wicked and thank you for giving us the name of another bar too where that concluded a great night. G-bar. Your place is better though. Me and my girlfriend felt more safe with your environment even when it did have people in. Thank you 🤗💯
