Very poor choice of cooked food that was expensive and not available until 12.00. Need to get up to date as to what other galleries are offering for the same price. Go to the Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh for some ideas. Sorry but we not visit the gallery again.

If you are going to do justice to viewing the art gallery you will need at least one pit stop so the cafe in the foyer is ideal for this. Nice coffee and cake. The range of hot food available is limited. We went for Brie, cheddar and chilli jam toasties. Tasty, but made with sliced white bread. Time for an upgrade!

The setting is lovely, with the open ceiling and classical design, and the scone I ate was by far the best I ever had. It was quite crumbly and light. The price was higher than you'd expect for a scone, but you get a big scone with a little jar of jam and a pat of butter, so it's worth it. The staff was also very kind.

We stopped for tea and cake after looking round the Gallery. Tea was lovely - loose leaf and good pouring tea pots, we had decaf and Earl Grey. Husband and little 'un had large pieces of gluten free chocolate fudge cake, mum and I had scones. All very nice. Lovely to stop at the foot of the sculpture. but space is a bit echo-y in a busy half term.

Museums always need more funds. One way is to have a good cafe/restaurant and an excellent gift shop. Unfortunately, the Walker Art Gallery has neither.

We had lunch here, just a sandwich and cup of tea each but we thought it rather expensive for what it was - i.e. just a snack and not a meal. We took a break from viewing the art and had lunch in the gallery's cafe. We both had Sweet Potato Soup which was full of flavour and a generous bowlful, served with roll and butter. I had a Sweet Chilli Wrap, my wife opted for a Panini Tuna Melt - both were tasty and filling. we accompanied these with a mini bottle of Zinfandel and a small bottle of Prosecco respectively. All in all, very satisfactory.

Visited with disabled husband, grand-daughter and her best friend. Reception staff very helpful, pointed out where the lift was, gave us leaflet of which rooms contained the exhibition. Lots of exhibits to see, as well as the other rooms in the art gallery. Took our time going around the gallery, able to sit down in each room if we wanted to, and finished in the Charles Rennie Mackintosh gift shop, where we bought the exhibits book, a picture, pen sets for the girls and a scarf holder for myself. Reasonable prices and shop well set out and young man on the checkout very attentive and helpful. All in all a good couple of hours spent in a very interesting gallery. Youngsters keen to go into the cafe but we will probably return, just ourselves, whether or not there is an exhibit on as the place is just so interesting.

Travelled from North Wales on the train to Liverpool to see Charles Rennie Mackintosh - Making the Glasgow Style. Great exhibit, and so much more to see for free, but came to see the exhibit. Also had Da Vinci's 500 year old drawings. We were so engrossed in it all before we knew it the museum was closing and we realised we'd been there for over six hours. Highly recommend! A beautiful gallery with wonderful exhibits but the café! 16.15 and in need of a painkiller my husband requested a cup of tea for me, and, gave the information that I was sitting at one of the many available tables. He was handed a, too hot to handle, paper cup and charged £2.40 He asked for a cup and saucer such as others are using but to no avail! So here I sit with inferior cup and the same high price. Hardly inducive to any feeling of well being or any wish to request something to eat. There are other cafés in Liverpool. I'll be avoiding this one.

This café is situated in the centre of the Walker Art gallery. Entry is free and it is accessible by a ramp at the side of the gallery. The menu stated that there was scouse and red cabbage (£5.50) so we decided we would have that rather than sandwiches or paninis. We were really disappointed when the food arrived. It was served with beetroot and not red cabbage. We had both been looking forward to the red cabbage but we were told they did not have any. We pointed out that if we had been told that we would not have ordered it.. Neither of us like beetroot so the server took the beetroot away. Drinks were reasonably priced and the carrot cake was really tasty and moist. You are able to wonder around the gallery and call in for a drink or snack when you need to. Bags are searched as you enter the building and toilets are near the front door.

The gallery is great, I take the children there frequently, we all love it. Unfortunately the cafe is very disappointing considering its prices (which are similar to your average big chain coffee shop) and lovely location. Tea and coffee are fine, the cakes taste like they've bought it in from a wholesalers, the paninis have stingy fillings and the salad comes undressed. We visited this afternoon. About a third of the tables were being used, the other two thirds were dirty and covered in old dishes. The tables didn't look like they'd been wiped all day. I approached the person behind the till and told them quietly, so as not to embarrass them, that the tables needed to be cleaned. They nodded... and then did absolutely nothing! We had to eat the whole meal at a dirty table. Absolutely not acceptable. I'm quite laid back, but it actually made me quite cross. Eating at a wiped table is an absolute minimum standard, I dread to think what the kitchen is like.

I got to the front of the queue and she just glared at me to invite me to order my coffee - didn't say a word. Scowled the whole time she was serving me - and stopped halfway through to have a conversation with her colleague and another customer. If you're serving me, serve me! Save your conversation until you've finished.Prices were a bit steep, too, for what is essentially just some tables and chairs and a tiny counter in the museum foyer.

This isn't the best cafe in Liverpool but it is an ideal place to take a break, have a tea and cake and immerse yourself in art.The cafe is just a bog standard gallery cafe -- not too fancy, minimalist or art deco, the staff aren't beautiful -- but the tea and scones are good (but the soup isn't).The best thing about this cafe is its location -- in the middle of one of the most stunning collections of art in the NW of England. The sculptures in this gallery are what take the biscuit and in the middle of this cafe is -- a statue of a Greek God pointing at the door (perhaps alerting the staff to a non-paying customer). The tables are surrounded by paintings and a charming little shop selling a really good (but limited) range of stuff. The other great advantage of this place is that it's only 5 minutes walk from Lime St Station, the first port of call for most visitors to this wonderfully atmospheric city. So if you arrive in Liverpool and need a cuppa, or a quick dose of art, this is the perfect place to go.

I had to wait a little while for anyone to come out the back, which was surprising seeing as it was busy. When the server did come, she was horrendously rude, just asking "what do you want". When I gave her the sandwich she huffed because apparently she didn't know what to put it through on the till as. Then I asked for a cake, and she snapped "you have to get it yourself". I hadn't been to the café before and did not know it was self-service. Instead of politely pointing this out, I was made to feel stupid. The sandwich was falling apart and had no taste to speak of, and the shortbread was doughy and underdone. It was overpriced for what it was. It was also dirty, with most tables having old trays and plates of food on them, with no one collecting them, even when there was nobody being served. Never returning.

Good selection of cakes and biscuits. I chose the shortbread which was delicious. I also had a lovely pot of Earl Grey tea. The seats are well spaced out in the splendid setting of the entrance hall of the gallery.

Visited the cafe during our visit to the gallery and weren't disappointed. Very good choice of food and excellent cafe. Service was very good and the location of the cafe in the entrance foyer is well thought out. Highly recommended.

Clean and fresh although slightly limited choice due to its size. Good quality produce and decent freshly made soup. Reasonably priced.

This has to be my favourite museum by far in Liverpool. From the moment you walk through the very impressive entrance you are thrown into the wonderful world of sculptures and art. It's fabulous. My favourite is the Henry VIII painting. Take a close look at it and see the detail. Its amazing. Again like all of the museums in Liverpool (except the Beatles one) its FREE. Forget the Tate, thats just so "The Emperors New Clothes" (Rubbish) Get in the Walker asap and enjoy a bit of real art. You wont be disappointed :)

Es un local donde no notas tanto la peculiaridad de la cocina inglesa.Digamos que es lo mas parecido a los pubs restaurantes españoles y europeos.

Visited on 19/10 24 for food and drink with my son, didn't see sign regarding parking in car park or any information inside premises. Received today £100 fine or £60 in 14 days, which my son paid immediately in a panic before I got home from work. Subsequently I have been informed by the staff in the pub there is now nothing that can be done. Be aware people. Disgraceful. Never again, thanks Greene King.
