Just had the best Valentines meal at The Viceroy tonight. Great food and service with a wonderful band....amazing sax player and singer. A really lovely romantic atmosphere and left with 2 red roses from the staff. Many thanks to all the guys at The Viceroy...thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
I honestly never write reviews, but I’m writing this one as I’m still eating. I’m working away for the week and fancied something tasty, found these guys on google. Drove down and the lovely young lady on the counter greeted me and let me know that normally they only offer takeout when you’ve pre order. I was unaware of this, but she went to the kitchen to ask if they were free to do another order and they were!
I got the chilli beef burrito and the nachos. WOW, amazing portions and the flavours are gorgeous!! So spicy and flavoursome.
So glad I went! I’ll just be sad now knowing that I won’t ever get to have it again as I’m from the Lake District! If I’m ever back in the area I’ll 100% visit! Thanks guys!
Absolutely brilliant evening thank you so much for everything you did we had an amazing time the service/ food/the singer my partner Ruth was so happy it made her birthday unforgettable
Disappointed to have to put a single star as we have been totally conned out of our money.
Booked and rang in advance to request we stay in a room that hadn't accommodated a dog the night before due to allergies. A request we have never had an issue with at other hotels...
They personally advised we book another hotel and get refunded as they'd hate for us to feel uncomfortable...very thoughtful you'd think.
Well almost 2 months later and we are still down over £100.
Whilst staying at the alternative hotel, I decided to pay a visit in person and discuss the lack of acknowledgement for our refund.
The lady who continues to say she has only worked there for x amount of weeks, couldn't have been more apologetic and said she will personally contact me within 24 hours...that was 4 weeks ago. (Don't fall for this)
So here I am to share a couple of pointers:
When they say request a refund through booking.com, I'm sorry but they're never going to approve it.
When you call and they say the manager is in a meeting, I'm sorry but they don't want to help you... They are ALWAYS in a meeting.
And when this lady says she's worked there for x amount of days or weeks, I'm sorry but she's not interested.
Thank you Cross Keys for stealing our money, I wish you all the best.
Last evening I asked for any gluten free drinks as I am coeliac 2 managers had no idea what was gluten containing drinks Not one member of staff had any idea and I was told I could drink any wine or spirit which is not the case Very rude and dismissive in front of other customers, unprofessional and ignorant
Lovely food, friendly people. It was the first sitting on a busy Sunday so we were served quickly but didn't feel rushed. Access off the carpark for an 81year old with mobility issues was manageable with care.
We have been coming to The Orient for many years. We have noticed that the food isn't quite as good as it used to be it is still good but always used to be exceptional.
Good service.
Superb Sunday lunch with all the trimmings - great place and atmosphere with welcoming and friendly staff with an excellent menu that caters for all tastes.
What a lovely little fish on our travels. Clean and tidy. The staff were great and very knowledgeable on the products. The food was amazing. Will definitely return qhen we are back in the area
On arrival we saw that about a quarter of the menu was crossed out, including drinks and food as they didn’t have them in. When we ordered we were also told 4 or 5 of the items we tried to order were also not available, and listening to other customers experience the same thing it must have been another a quarter that they didn’t have either.
The food was fairly warm and we ordered the pork belly with honey thinking it would be a glaze of honey. It was covered in honey and after a couple of minutes it was rock solid and almost pulled one of my teeth out, not to mention didn’t move when the plate was turned upside down!
The seats have no padding on and were very uncomfortable.
The waitresses have a very limited knowledge of the menu as they didn’t know answers to many of the questions asked by myself or other customers regarding items off the menu, and had to go and check.
This was all fairly early on a Saturday night, so I have no idea how so many items off the menu were unavailable.
We hadn’t been out for a meal for quite a while and were very disappointed as we had high hopes for this restaurant in terms of both the food and the service as a whole.
We come to The Tea Room almost every week with friends and our dogs, and it’s easily one of the best spots around. The coffee is always great, the food is fresh and well-made, and the staff are consistently friendly and welcoming.
It’s a relaxed, dog-friendly place that feels like a second home for us. Highly recommend if you’re looking for good coffee and a laid-back atmosphere.
