Had a lovely night. Food was to an exceptional although not always piping hot. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. Would definitely go again probably on a Wednesday or Thursday night when your own drink can be taken. Although the 10% service charge is discretionary I'd prefer it's not automatically added and leave a tip of my choosing.

We had the most delicious afternoon tea again! The fish and chips, with tempura caulli was amazing. The sandwiches fresh and tasty. The smoked salmon mousse bagel was devine. We didn’t have room for all of the cakes and scones, so took some home. There was a variety of teas, and filter coffee which was unlimited, and I added a glass of champagne! The service was excellent, and we would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful wedding day at Pecks restaurant, the manager Ben is incredible everything ran with precision, a true professional it was just perfect. The staff are attentive and a real delight, the food and wine service faultless, a wonderful array of canapés, home made breads, desserts. The service and food are out of this world, all our wedding guests were blown away, the venue is a perfect place for a wedding and wedding breakfast all in the same place, such a great idea. The chef and everyone in the kitchen you are amazing, thank you. All the service staff are such an delight and did a wonderful job for us and our guests throughout the whole day. As is Stacy, the wine service was impeccable. And the pastry chef what can I say except the cake was a master piece and totally delicious decorated to perfection, thank you. We will be going back for certain with friends and family for lunch in the not too distant future. Thank you Ben and all you staff it was a real pleasure so glad we chose Pecks for our special day. Disappointed with no cheese course - no where does it say on line that this isn’t offered on a Wednesday or a Thursday. We were told the table would be available 8 to 11pm so Taxis were booked meaning we had to miss the coffee as well. Overall a very disappointing visit - luke warm food and a lack of what was advertised provided. A party of 16 left disappointed. We have ben several times in the past but standards have definitely slipped .

3rd time I have been over charged at Pecks for drinks I haven’t had. Last time I had a 7 course dinner with champagne for 2 people, said we didn’t want champagne and was asked if we wanted something else my wife had a glass of wine and I had a draught beer and we were then charged for the 2 drinks which were far cheaper than champagne.

Stuck in a time - think ‘1980s Cheshire set’. The restaurant desperately needs updating into the 21st century, furniture and decor is tired and the atmosphere is stuffy. There was no music, restaurant was deadly quiet and nobody wanted to break the silence. Despite this, the food was delicious. The chef clearly works hard and we couldn’t fault most of the dishes we had. They could have done with a better range for a lunch menu, but dishes had balanced flavours, seasoned, with depth, and well cooked. Only thing to improve was that the treacle sponge lacked flavour. But overall food was great.

Incredible service. The front of house staff were excellent all night. The food was ok; somewhere between fine dining and gastro pub standard. A few dishes were stodgy and an overuse of cream to cover a lack of flavour. However the starters were reasonably good. We won’t be returning as the quality of the food just didn’t match the ambition.

If you have experienced "Dinner at 8" at Pecks in the past, prior to the change of ownership, don’t be fooled (like we were) into booking again! The "theatre of food" used to deliver in terms of experience and cuisine. Certainly, the departed head chef’s talent and standards are a critical factor in Pecks decline, so too are the challenges of creating stunning dishes from modest ingredients in the current economic climate. Meagre portions, reduced choice and poor quality provisions will impact any culinary experience. Economic challenges aside, the kitchen crew thought it was acceptable to serve a bland and pitiful variety of mostly soft, tepid mush and the owners put a value of £65 per person for the privilege. It was certainly a memorable 16 year anniversary meal. Appetisers - they were OK but not up to former standards. Soup - we both opted for sweet potato. This was literally puréed sweet potato of baby food consistency. No depth of flavour and completely unseasoned. Just too thick, sweet and bland. We had a bad feeling that things didn’t bode well. Starter - looked ok but 7 tiny balls of mozzarella , some tasteless tomato spherules, olive oil, a tiny sliver of what I assumed to be sundried tomato. A small leaf of basil and two small sticks of what seemed to be brioche soaked in burnt garlic oil, resulting in a minuscule unseasoned dish which was bland and left a lingering bitter aftertaste of over-roasted garlic. Do we bale at this point? No, we’ll stick at it. Main course (first attempt) - 7 tepid unseasoned cubes of lamb approx. 1cm squared which were tough and tasted only of garlic. These were sat in a course sour puddle of tzatziki. Accompanied by a croquette potato that wasn’t crispy - plus literally 5 overcooked green beans. This was sent back. Trying not to spoil our evening but let’s see if they can fix things. Main course (second attempt): 3 stringy pieces of pan fried chicken (less than half a breast). 3 bits of mushy microwaved courgette - completely annihilated. The return of the sweet potato purée in the form of 3 sweet, unseasoned soft breaded balls. Together with a walnut paste that resembled the colour and texture of the content of a new-born's nappy. BTW no seasonal vegetables to accompany as promised on the menu. At this point we bailed. The wait staff were apologetic and explained why things have changed. Following some discussion at reception we only paid for our drinks and were given cheesecake to take with us. At home, the Pecks signature rum and raisin cheesecake was bland, separated and included a soggy biscuit base with only a hint of essence of rum! It wasn’t fresh. We binned it. Heck, even the decorative grapes have shrunk. I feel sorry for the skilled chef de patisserie who is apparently still in post and clearly unable recreate past triumphs in the current climate. For those that opt to endure Pecks, It’s a lot of money to pay for such a poor experience. For slightly more, you could dine in a one Michelin star restaurant and have your mind blown! For considerably less, you could eat well in one of the many surrounding restaurants and actually taste something! Please consider carefully before you book a table.

Purely my view but for the price the food did not match it, the chicken dish actually tasted of nothing, not even chicken which is a hard thing to do, the cheese board is 3 tiny pieces of cheese between 2 people and everyday crackers, the beer at £7 a pint is very expensive, also adding 15% on the bill at the end is not great, he did say you can take that off but this is something he has to input and in the middle of the dining area which really puts you on the spot, so approx £150 for 2 was way overpriced.

I had afternoon tea here with a few friends and it was lovely. Parking was a nightmare but the staff offered to move their cars for us. There was a lot of food but more sweet than savory items. There could have been more sandwiches to balance it better. I also had to ask for top ups of tea and coffee, the staff were friendly but not very attentive after we had been given the food. New review. I went with my mum for lunch and wasn't impressed with the main chicken and mango salad. The dessert was basic. But the starter was good. Honestly not worth the money.

Pecks has always been known as 'the place' to go around our local area, but based upon our last visit, has had a bit of a decline. We were in for 3.30pm, but they didn't even take our drinks order until 3:50pm-ish, and only then because we asked if we could place an order. Understandable if they were busy, but we only saw three other tables than ourselves. The food itself was mediocre (and again, we had to ask when it would be arriving as it seemed to take forever). Whilst none of it was bad per se, a lot of it was relatively bland (the quiche, the pork bon bons etc.), which was a bit disappointing. The sandwiches and the hedge berry tart were very nice however, it must be said. In terms of atmosphere, there wasn't one really. We all left and remarked on how there was no music playing, only for one member of our party to point out that there was in fact music being played, albeit very quietly. It couldn't be said that the noise of people talking was covering the music, as everyone around us (and including us) was relatively quiet. Instead, we just heard the clash of cutlery and the like, being dropped again and again. The lady that brought us our drinks order and the food, however, WAS very attentive and helpful, I feel it's only fair to point out. I know some of this seems relatively nitpicky, but for a place that positions itself as the perfect dining experience, it just didn't hit that mark. I can only hope this was all a one off - but either way, we won't be rushing back.

The service was slow and everyone else in the restaurant had ordered the afternoon tea, which comes with fish and chips…nice idea but the room soon stank of fried food. Pecks really do birthdays well. I mentioned on booking and arrived to a card and balloons (which would have been an extra charge elsewhere). Also received a complimentary dessert with sparkler. The service was great, the staff are obviously very passionate about their roles and take them seriously. A wait for drinks service despite arriving at 7.15 and had to chase but the restaurant was full and it can't be easy seating so many for one start time. The food is very good and 8 courses is plentiful, I found it possibly a little more homely than other fine dining experiences but it's certainly very good value for money as they are priced lower than others in the area. We had the beef which wasn't great but maybe this was a one off. I feel a little bad leaving 4 stars as the good points were really good and again it is very good value for money, I just expected a little more of the beef for the rosette rating and the wait for drinks was long. If these points hadn't arrison I'd have happily paid £80+ for the menu. Thank you for a lovely birthday experience overall.

I booked an afternoon tea for me and my elderly mother for Mother’s Day. I was expecting dainty sandwiches and pastries etc. however we received chunky portions of bland overcooked mediocre food which lacks finesse. When our pots of tea arrived, we were asked if we’d like milk! Surely that’s a vital part of English Breakfast tea? The haddock in tempura batter was overcooked, the beef bonbon was lacking flavour and very dry. The lemon drizzle was missing. On the plus side the chocolate trifle (not a trifle) was delicious. Overall, a lovely setting and friendly staff but lost its wow factor when it comes to the food.

I last visited Peck's for a birthday in December 2022, and had the a la carte menu. It was quite good at the time, and I remembered this when I was making my booking for Valentine's Day, and was excited to sample the 6 course special menu (which is not cheap at £60 a head, but I paid much the same the previous years' VD at the Post House in Stafford.) We were greeted nicely, and lead to a intimately lit area and immaculately laid table. First impressions were good. Issues raised by other Tripadvisor reviewers, in regard to poor quality of service, or a cold environment, were not present. The house was packed out, and our anticipation was high. But one problem, and it is a big problem, reported by others and experienced by myself: the food is terribly bland. I didn't expect big portions, but I did expect a great taste experience, and on that score, it fell very flat. Do the chefs taste what they are sending out? The dishes that they prepare may have great presentation, there's no doubting that, but the experience of eating it was a major let down. I left disappointed, and feeling that I did not get good value for my expensive meal. A shame.

We ate Christmas Lunch last December and could not fault it. However, today we went for Lunch. We were both massively disappointed. The overall complaint is that the portion sizes were small ( and of little taste) considering the price of £29.50 each plus 10% service. The fish in my fish & chips was over battered and the fish content was hardly noticeable. Also it was overcooked. Definitely our last visit.

We had been gifted a voucher for Afternoon Tea for Christmas and chose to use it in January when things are always a little flat after the festive period. We could not finish it all but were provided with boxes to bring the rest home, so nothing went to waste - only our waists 😂. Nowhere near how good it once was. Still the same great, theatrical service but all portions are smaller, the cheese course is an embarrassment (there used to be so many choices available - now it's just 3) & there seem to be fewer desserts on offer & only described these days, not always shown. Worse still is the removal of the opportunity to take along your own bottles of wine during the week. This is a big mistake - visiting Peck's is already an expensive night out & with their cheapest bottle of wine starting from £31, it was a brilliant concept. How disappointing that they would take this opportunity away from customers. Many changes have been made to Peck's in the last few years which have only been for the benefit of the owners & to the detriment of customers. We won't be going back. Instead, we've taken our business to the nearby Legs of Man which serves a 5 course dinner for around £32. No frills, no theatricals but great tasting food beautifully presented & served by lovely staff. And with bottles of wine starting from under £20, we don't feel as though we're being ripped off either as it's much better value. Sorry Peck's : you've shot yourselves in the foot with your greed.

I had a lunch at Pecks recently. The food and service were great. As a coeliac, I was particularly impressed with the choice of gluten free options. I would recommend Pecks to anyone and especially if you want gluten free options.

I wasn't expecting much and wasn't disappointed, but that's me – I was an early adopter with respect to food allergy and intolerances and Pecks offers a set menu: it doesn't seem fair to be negative about something not within their core competence; anyway, after we'd finished our meals, we went home and made baked potatoes to fill up on and that improved our day no end, even if the sweet course was by no means insipid. I can say, though, that our waiting staff were poorly briefed and seemed inexperienced, that there was a terrible lag when it came to receiving all the items of a given course and that the members of the party who were dining from the unexpurgated menu found their first two courses wanting in flavour. However! There were tablecloths! Tablecloths, well-off patrons* and fabric hand towels** in the rest rooms. There was ambience! Pecks was an alloyed delight for us, but one cannot fault their intent. *heaven forfend the term 'Karen' could ever have applied to any of their number. **place in the bin provided after use.

We’ve been going there for Xmas dinner for the last few years now. Initially the food was really good but gradually got worse- I literally had half of the carrot and 1 potato on the plate this year along with a veg wellington which I wish I didn’t order and the spoonful of fruit as a fresh fruit salad for a dessert. While I understand that they have a lot of bookings and the standard of food can slip, the service is truly shocking, if you want to order a drink I would suggest to order it day before and it might arrive 2 hours after your arrival to the restaurant following day, when ordered other drinks, only half of them arrived and had to chase the rest multiple times- we did 3rounds and each time it was exactly the same. It’s not any quicker to order the food. Had to ask for a bill few times and in the end got up, put my coat on and paid on my way out. Won’t be returning next year for sure

We very much enjoyed our Christmas Lunch. My wife commented that the turkey was the best she had tasted for a long time. We will have no hesitation in visiting Pecks again.

Had the afternoon tea. Ordered both the normal and gentleman's between 4 of us. Preferred the gentleman's and felt it was more filling than the normal. Will certainly do it again.

Went for a significant family birthday party and was very impressed with choices on menu, friendly and efficient staff, excellent room and cleanliness of facilities. Bit of a long way to come from North Wales, but well worth the trip and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Thank you for making a special occasion even more special.

Every time we’ve visited Pecks it’s been an excellent dining experience. For a restaurant which seems in the middle of nowhere to consistently provide such great food and service is no small feat. From arrival at 07:30pm till leaving at 11:45pm the staff were attentive and knowledgeable and it’s unusual for a dinner service to last this lengthy period and never a dull moment ! Thanks again to all the team.

One of the nicest dining experiences we’ve had in a while , we spend a lot of time eating out across Manchester and the surrounding area , I’d previously visited the Church inn and recently found out about the Roebuck , the service was great really friendly , laidback and attentive, the atmosphere even on a quiet Monday evening was really nice , beautiful decor and cosy country pub vibes, with the star of the show being the food everything we ordered was exceptional and we will be returning with friends and family, my new favourite place to dine and relax.
