Hickory's Smokehouse Gresty Green in Cheshire East

Unfortunately the table (no. 17) we were given for two was a complete joke. It was way too small and extremely uncomfortable. To make matters worse, it was placed right next to the cash register and the kitchen, which made the experience even more unpleasant. Very disappointing. Because of that we left early. Despite this, the food and service were great.

Nice and tasty food, the staff are very friendly and there are plenty of car parking spaces.

Staff quick to get your order had too come back - but big menu to get through too much choice - quite pricey for the food - breakfast was OK an fine sweet nice £5 quite good portion size atmosphere nice an Christmases quite busy an quite noisy friendly staff- felt a bit rushed an couldn't wait for you to go so could get next people onto table - perhaps day of full bookings

Some of the best food ever had. Topping it all off with their Fro-Co was just fantastic! Nice large place where you don't feel squeezed in to the neighbouring tables.

Place is great for food, past two visits have been hampered by extremely slow service and not getting orders correct. They did make it right in both instances with free deserts or starters. Will definitely go again. Only thing I don’t like is the voluntary involuntary tip for service that automatically gets added.

Visited for the first time on 16-11-24 with my wife and kids for my birthday. Had a lovely night, excellent reception, great service, great staff, great atmosphere and tasty food. Will definitely be frequenting the place and I recommend to others to try Hickory’s.👌🏾

Very friendly restaurant, dropped in on a Wednesday and quite busy - always a good sign. Waitress very attentive and seemed genuinely happy to interact with customers. Food (brisket and beef rib) ordered was great. Beef rib in particular was excellent. Minor quibble was quality of the slaw which could be improved. Service was excellent and I'll definitely be back. Small point to management to look into improvements to car park lighting.

Fantastic service and didn't make a fuss about needing a gluten free menu like most places do, they also take it seriously. We sat at the chefs bar and overheard one of the chefs telling another off for putting a bun on a grill that was only for gluten free items! It's the first place I've been as a celiac where I have not been made to feel uncomfortable. Thanks you! First time I've found frozen custard in the UK too yum! 10/10

Was taken for my 60th birthday. Don't like de constructed food, like it on the one plate . What I did try kept me up all night running to the bathroom. It wasn't for me, everyone else was ok .

Since moving to the area a few years ago, we have struggled to find decent restaurants where the food is good, the value for money is good and the service is on point. This place does all of that for us and now semi-regulars (would go more often if I wasn’t trying to eat more healthily!) I wish they still did delivery - as sometimes a quick bite is needed and can’t give the time to do a full sit down.

Lovely place, but wow, what you pay vs what you get is pretty poor. It's a while since I've been, the last time I was there I had the single big rib and it was as if it had been cooked with a flame thrower, I had a cowboy steak this time, with a Cajun covering, around £27, it was bang average, came with fries and some very poor coleslaw too. Wife had a burger that was also very average for what you pay. What a shame, I love smoked food etc but I don't think I will bring myself to return. Oh, the coke was also very watered down! What a shame!

Can't thank the staff enough for making my son's birthday meal so enjoyable. Lots of staff and all super friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! We will certainly be returning.

Great as always. If you can't handle your food don't order "The Great American Breakfast" it's alot of food. But it's always highly recommended

Lovely pub and atmosphere. I had a burger, and my fella had the brisket. I tried both and was lovely. The food is a bit overpriced for what it is but the Staff were lovely and the pub is beautiful and the food is tasty (so don't mind paying). The American theme is continued with the music and the beer garden looks magical at night with all the fairy lights and theres even blankets on the tables if you get cold. The cocktails and specialist drinks are spectacular both to taste and to look at. Would definitely recommend and return ourselves but will be trying the steak next time.

Brilliant waitress but not really what we were expecting

First time at a hickory’s, we were up visiting family. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, thinking it would be like a BBQ version of a Harvester, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was, for the money, really nice. I had the chicken Gumbo and the others had gumbo or southern chicken burger. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the drinks were nice too. The service was pleasant and considering the place was absolutely rammed, pretty effective. I’ve found a hickory’s not too far from us now and I’ll definitely be going in next time we’re in the area .

Our server was excellent - such a lovely person. Took her time to run us through her favourite and what she'd recommend, as well as the sizes of other items etc. She was fantastic! And, she recommend the sodas, which were a huge hit! The food was phenomenal and we'd certainly come back. Perfect for kids too, as they have a playground outside, a cinema inside, colouring they give out - what a place! Amazing! The American theme is brilliant too. Very authentic.

This is such a great restaurant! Staff are super friendly, service was quick and the food was incredible. We had the sharing platter and everything was spot on and such great value for money. What more can you ask for!

We went as a family to celebrate my dons 25th we absolutely loved it the staff were fabulous and my Jack was treated to a birthday sweet and a song he was highly embarrassed but loved it thanks 😊

The rib rib was nr enough none existent on the platter, informed the waitress and she just said no problem ill tell the manager. He/she didn't even come over to have a look or resolve the issue. Not as good as past experience!!

So far everything I've tried here has been great. Staff are great, friendly and don't pester you to see if things are ok.

Food was OK but you can definitely get better elsewhere for the small price, service was good but we felt a bit rushed, I thought it was going to be more of a authentic bbq restaurant but it was more of a hungry horse with a American/bbq theme, better for families with kids than couples etc

I went here for my 26th birthday, Reece served us, he made us feel like family, even remembered my name which is a hard name to remember as is! Great food and great service all around!

Food was all over cooked and the service was terrible. Took ages for drinks to arrive, then they asked if we'd like any sauces, brought them to us after we were done eating (and we're not quick eaters) then added an automatic tip to the bill - which we ended up paying because we all felt too uncomfortable to ask them to remove it. Won't be going here again.

Had a great time celebrating my birthday with family here. Lots for the great kids to do movie theatre inside and play area outside. Food was hot a tasty. Bird and beast burger was very good as was the macaroni cheese brisket side and the pit beans. Grandkids enjoyed their meals too. They brought me a doughnut with cream and a sparkler candle for free and another sparkler with the cake we brought. They paid attention to detail with the icing sugar birthday wishes on both. They did bring me the wrong meal initially were very apologetic including the manager. When the bill arrived they had taken the cost of my main course off which was a nice surprise. Will definitely go back. They really looked after us.

I came up to Nantwich for a wedding. The whole day was exceptionally brilliant. The following day, half of our party went to Hickories. What an absolutely beautiful place to have a wedding breakfast. 10 points to the bar staff, 10 points to the waiting staff, and top marks for the cooks. I will be back, I haven't stopped smiling yet. Thank you, ALL OF YOU at Hickories, you made our day fantastic. I really can't wait to see you again

First time here and I was excited to go. But there were some failings unfortunately. Me and my teenager came on a monday but it was so busy we had to be seated by the cooking bar station. This was loud and not very nice atmosphere. Our total bill came to £70 (no appetisers, no dessert, no alcoholic drink) and for this price I expected perfect food. He had fried chicken and chicken tacos (starter menu but as a main), the chicken was really good but very small portions for the price. He said the rice was fridge cold in the taco. I had the half smoked chicken. There was no smoke flavour whatsoever and it was cold and very dry. I had to drench it in ranch to be able to swallow it. It was soaked in a lot of BBQ sauce which just tasted like hot dogs. We also had the corn bread. It was served in a skillet pan so my assumption is it's supposed to be warm? The edges were lukewarm and the rest fridge cold. It's clear everything is just reheated, and not very well. It took a long time to be served and even longer for the food. Probably half an hour, so food should have been warm. Staff was very friendly but they asked to clear my plate whilst I was still eating (took a while to be able to swallow the dry chicken). The taste and quality of food I'd expect to pay about £25 £30. Definitely not £70.

Visited Hickorys in Crewe today, my first time and the staff were amazing, so friendly and chatty! The food was also amazing, great portions. The popcorn and water when you sit down was also fab! Can't wait to go again!

Overpriced and Overrated. Definitely won't be giving it a second chance. Southern Fried Double Chicken Burger, the actual burgers were about as think as a McDonald's Hamburger.

Came for my best friends birthday, was very busy but the service was top notch! Luke and Claire were super attentive and ensured my friends allergy was well catered for at every stage, even when she kept changing her cocktail and they had to check the iPad again! Made us feel super comfortable and at ease, food was great and we never had to ask for a thing! We will be back, thank you for making her birthday so special ☺️

A truly great emulation of an American restaurant. I had the brisket, which was outstanding. The bourbon gravy took it to another level. Service was bright and cheerful. Food came fast. Can’t fault anything! Will definitely return.

Our server to start and finish was lovely. Member that brought mains out didn't even bother checking that we had finished starters or clear those plates and dishes. We had to move them to one side to allow mains to be put down. They only got cleared when the other server came to clear the mains.

This is the third Hickory's I have been to and this is up there with the best. The beef rib was delicious, and the service great, if I am in the area will go back.

Excellent food as always, third Hickories we have been to...same standard across the board. Icing of it all was had car issues and waiting for AA, staff were nice enough to invite us back in nd offered myself and my partner a drink while we waited. Excellent service!

First time here for a 18th Food was way overated the chicken was dry salty with lots of bones barbeque sauce slapped on top Another dish was so salty it was not edible .

We came here for my birthday on 30/07/2024. The service we received was second to none, and the personal touches because they knew it was a birthday booking were really special. The food was really tasty, we had the sharing platter which meant we got to try so many different menu items! The brisket was delicious. My favourite was the cheesy giant pretzel appetiser! The cocktails are also lovely, the game changer especially.

Absolutely fantastic food. The BBQ pulled pork beans are something else! We had a platter and it was expensive at 60 quid, but between 2 it is no more than you'd pay for 2 meals at a nice steakhouse or similar. All of the meat was amazing, like, super tasty and great quality. Some of the smaller ribs were slightly dry, but they were dry rub ones. Overall though absolutely lovely, service is quick, lots of staff and plenty of parking. I'll be going again!

Me and my partner have just been to the Hickory’s in Crewe. Working in the catering industry myself I noticed that one of the front of house waitresses who had very long hair had it down whilst serving food on the pass and dishing up the coleslaw. Also adding to the fact she had long acrylic nails on (with no gloves) which were going into the coleslaw when she was dishing it up then gliding her fingers back threw her hair… I am very shocked that the head chef or manager has not told her to tie up her hair. It is very unhygienic and very unprofessional.

Menu too much on it? Ordered baby back ribs that were supposed to be cooked for 4 hours ? They Probably were then frozen and heated up in microwave as the bones were cold, bones transmit heat through the meat so definitely microwaved. Meal very small meal and came on a piece of wood? Would not go again small meals and big price and microwaved. Very disappointed

Great place. We ate outside under cover and enjoyed their usual amasing lunch.

My first time visiting Hickory's atmosphere was great. We were a table of 7, and the service was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough. I tried the brisket, which I'd definitely recommend. We are already planning on returning.

Took my daughter for her birthday as a treat. Staff were great, welcoming and friendly, and checked that everything was ok, once our meals had arrived. Took my 11 month old granddaughter so she could taste the food. The staff brought highchair straight away and even gave us a little plate and plastic fork, so my granddaughter could try our food. Then surprise us with a birthday board with cake, for my daughter 🥰. Thank you for making my daughters birthday treats amazing. Special thanks to Reece, who was our server and arranged for the birthday cake surprise ❤️ he was great, excellent customer service.

First time here on my granddaughters recommendation. Surprised how busy it was for a Monday. We have corn chips stater to share really nice and fresh. I wanted the Slab for my main but they had run out, which was very disappointing. So I had the beef ribs, a full rack in BBQ Sauce, it was very filling a the meat fell of the bone. Overall the food was excellent, only niggle was trying to get someone's attention to pay the bill!

Food was unbelievably meh, everything but the brisket was so dry couldn't even finish eating it. BBQ sauce was really cheap tasting like what you'd get with frozen boxed ribs from Iceland. For £60 you'd expect a lot better we only really ate the brisket and chips which was definitely not worth the money. Staff were really nice and the place it's self was really nice. Unfortunately the food really ruin the whole experience.

First of all, everything was absolutely spot on. Fast service, clean environment and kind staff members. I had the pleasure to dine in this restaurant with my pregnant wife and we are absolutely obsessed with American barbecue, so for us this place is heaven. The brisket is sensational, absolutely to die for. A special mention to Nathan that was in charge of our service, incredibly kind, chatty and welcoming. He organised a tour for us to the smoker in the kitchen where Travis explained to us what they do. Phenomenal. True legends

It was my daughter's birthday and she had visited from London. I love the changes they have made to my local, I have been visiting this place since my children were small (now in their 30s) They had some balloons on the table and when her sweet arrived there was a firework alongside it. The food was fabulous and although they were busy the service was friendly and helpful. Thank you for making it special!!!!

Really friendly staff and great dinner atmosphere. I had the vegan fajitas, and they were so good! The service was good, and I would be happy to go back here again. Although the fajitas were very good, sadly there isn't many vegan options on the menu. So it'd be nice to see some more options when I do go next.
