Simply the best place you could come for food! We had a burger each (which comes with fries, onion rings, salad and slaw) and were absolutely amazed by the size! I had the ‘Ladyboy’ burger (don’t worry, I was assured everyone laughs!) and it was incredible! A thai spiced burger, satay chicken fillet and a spring roll all in a burger! My partner has the ‘Notorious P.I.G’ which was equally immense in size. A huge burger with some of the best pulled pork i’ve tasted. (The burgers across the board were like 1.5-2 inches thick, not wide, THICK) The portion of chips for the two of us was also incredible (so much that we had to get takeaway box to bring the left overs home) Overall incredible service, incredible food, and incredible burgers!

Very poorly cooked risotto. Sticky, clumpy and unappealing. Battered fish slimey and batter undercooked. Told server who sent message to chef - no feedback received and no reduction of bill. Would not go back or recommend it to anyone. Spoilt the evening.

Had a great overnight stay at the plough, every member of staff were so friendly and helpful and the evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Our room was absolutely beautiful and cosy with a very comfy bed and a great modern bathroom. I would recommend anyone to stay.

Came here after it being recommended by a work colleague. Much to my disappointment. We were sat down and given menus by a friendly lady who asked us if we would like any drinks, after receiving our drinks we told her that we were ready to order and she told us that it would be the other staff member who would be taking the orders. We must have waited 40 minutes if not longer before he eventually came to take it which I can't understand why as he was stood behind the bar on his phone. Food arrived but nothing special to be fair I think a little overpriced! The lady did come back to the table to ask if everything was ok but after finishing we sat for maybe another 40 mins untill she came back to clear our table even tho the male member of staff was again stood behind the bar on his phone, she did apologise for the wait and said they were a staff member down. Of what I can make of the place I think more staff are needed and the prices dropped as they definitely don't reflect on the food.

Met up here for breakfast before setting out for outdoor adventures. all the food was nice. Not being able to substitute things at breakfast is a bit odd. I can't eat mushrooms and detest cooked tomato, pretty much anywhere else if you knock off two things the server would ask if youd like another egg or whatever, but I suppose its not a dealbreaker. Pleasant staff. Will return

Had my Sons Wedding here last week and what a shambles it turned into. Paid a lot of money to have the Wedding of their dreams only to be spoiled by Dalston Hall. They decided 2 days before the wedding to tell them they could no longer use the marquee for the Night time party. We were told we had to have it inside the wedding hall as they were not allowing use of the marquee due to noise complaints. Yet 3 days before we went they assured us all was fine for using the marquee and there were no issues. To rub salt into the wound, they then swapped our day meal into the marquee instead of inside the hall as planned. As we were part of a small wedding party we looked lost in a undecorated marquee (a few flowers on the table didn't cut it), my son felt like it was a slap in the face. They got the compromised seating arrangements in the small hall wrong, spreading tables throughout the hall and the bar splitting the guests up. We were suppose to have bigger tables with more seating and got small ones with 4 seats. The drink is mega expensive!! They show others couples around the hall (that you've paid for decorated) while your getting ready. Not great with strangers walking about on a wedding day while your sat with P.js and hair rollers! They also messed up our breakfast orders. The food over the 2 days we were there was just awful. I'm not a fussy eater but I've had better from McDonalds. They didn't have enough beds for the children even though they were told months in advance how many would be there. One 14 year old had to sleep on a make shift bed on the floor they made out of duvets!!! So unorganised. The water was freezing and took ages to warm! My room was so small with two camp beds (one I brought myself) that my son was up against a radiator, meaning we couldn't have it on in case he rolled into it. So the room was freezing through the night. Being above the back door all we could hear was banging and clanking all the time. One of the guest rooms didn't have running water at all. £150 for a room with no water! They offered to pay for a travel lodge miles away instead! The bride had a staff member laugh at her when her wedding dress caught on the bottom step and tore her dress on the way into the ceremony! They seemed understaffed and the staff that were there bar 1 were miserable. If they work at a wedding venue surly it wouldn't kill them to use manners or crack a smile. One guest complained that when the bar man collected glasses he didn't use any manners and just kept leaning over them to collect the glasses. The D.J told someone to "F" off because he doesn't take requests till after the first dance. Even the bride asked for something and he was snotty to her. The dance floor was the size of a postage stamp! We had to resort to moving tables ourselves for the guest to sit together until one female bar staff came to our aid and got the staff to move them for us. The garden Arbour that they were excited to be photographed under had been removed. The £500 we paid for hot buffet was a joke. It was bloody awful. Most people didn't eat the food. I could carry on but my fingers are aching from listing the faults!! The carpets were dirty and patchy. The breakfast room is in need of a update. The only compensation our kids were offered was one free drink of Prosseco (tastes of piss), and a nook bar that they never opened. This is honestly so upsetting as this had the potential to have been a fantastic day, due to the hotels total lack of organisation or empathy the bride was sat in tears. Save your money as once they have it they don't care about letting you down. There has been no apology for their incompetence. Its a shame that the memory of there wedding day is now just filled with how angry they are at Dalston Hall. Read the reviews people!!!! Oh bath panel in room 13 was all cracked as well, just though I'd mention the little stuff. They flood Facebook with images of the perfect day yet didn't give a shit about spoiling the day for our family. Shame on you Dalston Hall!!!!!!!

The food was not worth the price at all, burger was served just by itself as I asked for no red onion not even a bit off lettuce or salad in sight!my husbands lasagne was so hard on top he could barely cut through it also the chicken fajitas were chewy and unedible and served with a wrap which was stone cold as if straight from the fridge, will most definitely not be back
