Very enjoyable experience. The food was delicious, the atmosphere cosy, homely and friendly. The food was served in a very timely manner by a pleasant, outgoing lady. There is a good selection of meals on the menu and a good sized pot of tea is served with the meal. The dining room is small with limited tables but this, in my opinion, only enhancers the cosy "feel" of the Country Kitchen. My wife and I really enjoyed our visit and hope to enjoy many more.

Popped in here whilst visiting family. I do t mind the quaint, homely feel to the place but found the table clothes had a used look about them and the tea was absolutely tasteless. On a positive note it did come in a lovely china tea pot, there was plenty of fresh milk and the cups were clean too. When using the toilet, which is upstairs and you have to pass through the kitchen, I was surprised to see what looked like a home kitchen. The doors to the kitchen had marks down the edges The place had plenty of people using it so am sure it will continue to thrive and I wish them well but it’s not for us

Staff are really friendly food was brilliant I had a lasagna and could not fault it one bit and the portion was spot on. Really good with my little girl even the other customers were friendly. To top it all off they gave my little girl a selection box not many places would do that for anyone. I fully recommend having a bite to eat in this little place 10/10

Had a wonderfuly peaceful cup of tea in the back of the cafe were the garden was beautiful and a nice little sun trap. Came back the next day for a delicious allday breakfast which really set us up for the day, which was perfectly made by the friendly and welcoming owner.

A great little cafe with yummy foods. I visit here regularly with family. Joyce and her family that help run it are like an extension of your own family. Super friendly, scrumptious crumble. Will be there many times going forward.

Blast from the past: a place where locals come to chat, eat and even bring their basket to purchase their hot lunch wrapped in a tea towel. We called in as we drove through- what a delight! Gorgeous scones and 10/10 for the coffee which was definitely not a ‘blast from the past’. Every community should have a café like this one.

A tiny cafe , slightly stick in a time warp but that is not always a bad thing! Delicious scones but the lentil soup was tasteless, thin and horrible. It’s such an easy soup to make, I’m not sure how it could be so bad. Think we must have been unlucky as it does seem to be a popular place.

Joyce is a wonderful lady, great breakfast and coffee. Opened up early to let us escape the rain and cooked up a treat on Sunday morning to send us on our way down towards Lands End. Thanks Joyce.

We took a family member from down south here today for a quick lunch. We ordered 3 cups of tea a fruit scone and a cheese and onion toastie which came with homemade chips, salad and coleslaw to die for. Very good service and reasonable prices. Give it a go.

Stopped in for lunch while hubby ran grand tour of skiddaw. Had a lovely lunch in this cosy wee cafe. Homemade and welcoming. A special thank you to the owner whose name I forgot to ask for being kind and helping me out with a sleepy toddler and a long walk. It was very much appreciated xx

Stopped here whilst passing through Dalston. I would have liked to have written a review of the food and drink here, but we didn't get past the threshold when we were abruptly and rudely informed "we're full", when the room was far from full. No 'I'm sorry', no "please come back later'. We left and went somewhere else, where we received a warm welcome.

Came for lunch with a friend. It is a small place about 14 covers. A bit cramped but quaint. The meal, was served quickly. My friend had the sausage egg and chips. The sausages were plump and looked nicely cooked. The chips were chunky and golde.

We stopped here for breakfast on our first morning In Dalston. The staff are friendly and the menu offers a good variety. The full English is a fantastic breakfast and very reasonably priced, we also came back for our dinner before a torch light tour of Carlisle Castle and had savoury mince and dumplings from the specials board, it was tasty, a good portion and a good price, I would recommend this cafe especially for a good breakfast before setting g off on day trips

Excellent cafe in an beautiful location. Wonderful, friendly atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Freshly prepared, delicious food at a very reasonable price. Outdoor seating, dogs welcome when the cafe is not too busy. Daily newspapers to read, ideal for a tea or coffee if you are on your own. Coffee, cake a good natter or a read of the papers. Ideal! They also do a take away option. Can't recommend this cafe enough. We love it, highly recommend!

Popped in for a coffee and cake on the way home. Characterful little cafe and generous cake portions but perhaps a touch disappointing - early afternoon and only cheese scones left and instant coffee because they had run out of coffee beans. I'm no expert on catering but given the shelf life of coffee beans surely it's not rocket science to make sure you have an adequate stock in reserve at all times.

I decided to walk from my home to Dalston and back and was ready for something to drink and to eat and succumbed to a substantial prawn salad and chips followed by the rice pudding I didn't need, but really enjoyed and was pleased there wasn't the temptation of a bus home, so I could walk some of it off.

Enjoyed an afternoon catch up with a friend here, although they didn't have a great Gluten Free selection, they did offer me Jam Tarts, which were really good. My friend had a scone which apparently was very good... only thing I would suggest is please do more GF food.

This café is in the middle of the green at Dalston and has ample parking just outside. It is a very scenic, quiet village between Caldbeck (the burial place of John Peel) and Carlisle.
