What a lovely place to sit down and eat. Food portions are huge so definitely feel defeated after that one. Food was piping hot, fresh and delicious. Service was brilliant the lady serving us couldn’t be any more accommodating to my picky eating habits! Would come back ten times over

Absolutely perfect meal last night! The three of us all had gorgeous burgers, and all clean plates! (OK, there were a few chips left, but I defy anyone to finish all of them!!) Perfect service, and a lovely evening. Many thanks, see you again soon.

Not sure where to start but won’t be going back. I wasn’t happy with my greasy soggy fish finger stack. The mushy peas were on top of the super greasy beer batter mixed in with the tartare sauce, cooked so long there was hardly any fish inside. The waitress rudely pointed out that someone else who had just eaten it loved it and kept saying it was a whole fish. She was over friendly and kept putting her hands on my partners shoulders and at one point was almost cuddling him from behind. I felt uncomfortable - and was biting my tongue. We paid and left. Her behaviour was unprofessional, over bearing and rude. Wouldn’t recommend EVER. In response to owner - u came over when the food had just been set down so hadn’t started to eat. It was inedible. I was friendly, but that was before u couldn’t keep your hands to yourself. Your reply, as expected, was as unprofessional as your behaviour.

It's been a very long time since I had a really delicious meal in a pub and I was starting to despair, but the Crown Inn has restored my faith that good food is still out there, finding the Crown Inn has made our weekend stay near Carlisle very memorable, the Ladyboy was without doubt the tastiest burger I've had and the service was impeccable. We will return. 😁

We go here regularly, the food is always good and plenty of it. Staff are very friendly especially Rachel she's fab. Would thoroughly recommend.

Cute place with nice decor. Food is amazing tasting and extremely generous in size maybe too large. The staff are all friendly. Can get quite busy with the food service and leave very few places to sit and drink but its great.

Popping in here one evening whilst on holiday felt like a warm hug after a long day. We were welcomed warmly by staff and felt very much at home. We left wishing this were our local! Highly recommend. Fantastic food with great (maybe a bit too great?!) portion sizes for the price. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Amazing burgers with a bucket load of chips. Beautifully cosy with fireplace and bar. The decoration is vibrant with plants everywhere. Absolutely love the place. Only open from 7pm but worth the wait. We ordered a Ladyboy and Bombay Burger, safe to say you don’t leave hungry.

Such a shame, just drop in to see the place, heard great things. Pint of foster un-drinkable.

Can't believe all the good reviews!! After 40 minutes waiting my husband asked if the food was ready soon, he was told the wait would be worth it is so good. When it arrived the waitress was not too happy with us for asking, she was very abrupt. The fish was very greasy, the batter inside undercooked. The burger ordered was just a lump of insipid mince and the pulled pork was chewy. When I wanted to pay, the waitress was talking with customers at the be bar,she ignored us and walked away to serve other customers. Good was average, service and attitude bad, will not visit again.

We stumbled across this little gem while waiting to check into our Airbnb just down the road. Staff were so friendly and welcoming that we decided to book in the day after for a meal and we were not disappointed! Quirky interior, great vegetarian options and really reasonably priced. We’ll definitely return if we come back to this part of the world. Made a wonderful stay even lovelier!

I absolutely ADORE this pub! The food is honestly exceptional. I've been many times and never had a bad meal. The portion sizes are unreal. You get A LOT for your money, which is actually very reasonably priced. I implore everyone to try their cheesecake. You can even take a slice home, when you inevitably can't fit anymore in! The atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming and they now even greet me with my drink ready when they know I'm coming in. It really is the small things, and this venue has it in abundance. I couldn't recommend it more ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Found this place randomly while working in the area. A proper hidden gem. Great food (massive burgers!), great value for money and a top pint of Guinness. Always try and go when I'm working in the area.

Crown Inn hosted our sons christening party. The hog roast was brilliant, gluten free and vegetarian options were also provided. The staff were extremely helpful. The whole party went very smoothly and lots of fun had by all. Thank you!

What an outstanding little gem of a place just on the outskirst of carlisle, a very warm welcome from the owners who are just such fantastic hosts, they made us feel very welcome and at home, such lovely people, and the food was absolutely top notch, the starters that we had ( prawn coctail, and a very yummy chicken salad) followed by the biggest burgers I've seen in a pub, wow just amazing, will certainly be making this place a usual stop, thank you for a great evening guys.

During our holiday we visited the Crown Inn for a meal. It was very chilled and laid back with a friendly welcome. The burgers are absolutely huge - a little bit too big really - but amazing value for money and well presented. My burger was under seasoned but the flavour around it made up for that. All burgers are seasoned individually to compliment the accompaniments to it. Huge bowls of sharing fries which is a nice touch and good variety of sauces if travelling with teens! Extremely accommodating and friendly pub, looks like it has been recently revamped and decorated and is stylish and fresh. Dog friendly Would revisit - but be very hungry !!

Impromptu visit , and we werent dissapointed in any way shape or form. Quirky lounge area, and tastefully decorated restaurant. Booked for a family get together for Father’s Day Absolutely brilliant We had traveled from Hull to meet family and we had the most amazing afternoon. Drinks were flowing and then the food came!!! Unbelievable We ordered 9 roast beef dinners and they were outstanding Loads of vegetables and gravy and any extras were offered no problem Sarah and Jack you went over and above to look after us and we won’t forget. I can’t wait to return Worth the 400 mile round trip any day.

A snug pub with great food and beer

Booked a table. When we arrived someone was sitting at it! Given another table which was fine but told at least an hour before we could eat! Why take a booking when you can't deliver. Very shabby service. Not impressed.

Don't go to this pub if you are hungry & want to eat anytime soon. Arrived about 7.15 and finally ate at 8.45 having ordered 2 starters & 1 burger. As visitors to the area it appeared that we were bottom of the pile. To cap it all they didn't listen to the order & the burger came plastered in relish despite specifically asking for no relish. Had ordered starters intending to have a pudding after but really didn't want to stay up that late!

It's often said that food wise you can have quality or quantity.....WRONG!!. The crown at broadfied gives you both.

I am a pescatarian. I was surprised that out of maybe 8 burger options two were non-meaty burgers. The halloumi burger I chose was fresh, everything was fresh, and it tasted absolutely fabulous. The fries were perfectly crisp, not an iota soggy or limp. Everything was just excellent. If burgers ever again, then at the Crown Inn!

A nice welcome, a log burning fire and good food - what else do you need? Not a lot! This is an old country pub that is a ways out of Carlisle, so don't think it's walkable from the the city centre. That said, it's not far by car and a Taxi wouldn't break the bank if you chose to enjoy the bar as well as the restaurant. It's worth a jolly out and is sited near to some great woodland trails if rambling is your thing. One thing I will say, it felt cold in the restaurant section due to the time of the year and due to the building's construction - the radiators were on full blast, but sadly didn't cope. However, in the warmer months this would not matter at all.

Popped here for tea last night with some mates who had raved about the burgers and they weren't wrong! Lovely local pub great service from the hard working barman who was on his own but really attentive. Great draught cider which I haven't tried before....

The crown inn is a very quirky little place.. it's almost in two halves.. The reception and bar area, then the restaurant.. It's very warm and welcoming like an old English country pub should be - Ginormous wood fire with memories of old decorating the bare stone walls.. The food was fantastic, home cooked from fresh and enough to fill anyone's stomach.. Although I wasn't particularly interested in anything other than what I ate, there was certainly no lack of choice.. on the drinks front there was plenty of choice for a real beer drinking, beard weilding man but unfortunately no rosè wine for the ladies.. I would recommend the crown inn if you are in a small group and plan on making an evening of it.. it's certainly not a grab and go pub.. our table was booked for 1900 and we were seated for half past, order taken at 2000 and served at 2130 - no problem of course if you're not hungry or planning to do anything else that evening but for me personally, 2 and a half hours is too long to wait.. The manager did come and argue her reasoning rather loudly which almost turned the bad experience around for me - I was thrilled at the thought I was going to have to roll my sleeves up and have a good old scrap with the old broad, but again I was disappointingly left waiting.. anyway, after she stated she had a BA honours in hospitality and catering I naturally bowed down to her superior knowledge.. I was simply a customer.. clearly a losing battle.. The pub had one other table of 6 people which apparently warranted our 2 hour wait for oven space.. The manager did however attempt to soften the blow with a reduced bill.. All told I wouldnt go again for food at the risk of anyone else being there using up all the oven space.. however to catch up with freinds around the fire, chugging real ale yeah, why not.. beats sitting outside..

Wonderful food! I had the 10 ounce flatiron steak which was closer to 16. My co-diners had their monster burgers, basically the dishes that their reputation rests on. One was the "Hugo", a huge homemade patty with gruyere cheese caramalised onions, and chutney. The other was the "short fat bloke with a dodgy haircut" burger. Same huge patty but with a chicken breast also thrown on top. Beer selection was good as it should be for a British pub. They had one pull tap and 5 other beers running through a cooling system making those beers cold as opposed to cool, something not that common in British pubs, especially those that are in the country. Unless you're familiar with the Cumbrian countryside, a GPS would definitely be handy as it is off the beaten track. Well worth the visit though!

I have been a regular for 30 plus years and have seen some real low points in this pub, down to hopeless tenants after Paul & Janet left, with the exception of Danny and Gem. The refurbishment hits the right note, the neon signs not my kind of thing but no big deal. Service & price fine. A cozy local long may it last.

Una buena pinta de cerveza en un pub propiamente dicho.

Hemos comido aquí varias veces con mi novio y también en un grupo grande y siempre son bienvenidos por los propietarios y el personal del bar. Las hamburguesas son para morirse y todo casero, son enormes, así que asegúrate de que tienes hambre. No vayas hasta las 7pm ya que las puertas no se abren hasta las 7 de la tarde. . Bastante con razón, también esperar que esperar unos 45 minutos a 1 hora para la comida. Muy buena relación calidad-precio.

Fuimos para una reunión familiar, este es un pequeño pub en el país, muy acogedor. El personal es atento sin ser entrometido. La comida era increíble, con generosas porciones. Había 20 de nosotros y puedo decir que todos y cada uno de nosotros realmente disfrutamos de nuestra noche aquí. Recomiendo encarecidamente el Crown Inn.
