Reserve a table! Even if you see some tables free, they may not be able to seat you because they want to ensure a great experience so the don't take more people then they can cook and serve for comfortably.
The menu is always excellent, with plenty of delicious and varied options and because everything is cooked fresh, they can easily cater to dietary requirements, I am a coeliac (gluten free) and had plenty to choose from. They do note that everything is cooked in a kitchen where allergens are present but they are careful and I have never had an issue.
The staff are friendly, welcoming and personable, we had a lovely family dinner. As a family with young children, we got in early which meant we could enjoy the set menu, if you choose off the special boards instead, it cam get a little pricey but the specials board is well, special... it's got the delicious sounding fancy stuff on it. I was perfectly happy with the risotto I enjoyed with a nice house wine and the gluten free sticky toffee pudding! My kids loved their fish fingers and chips, they had all the usual suspects for kids or would also do a small version of the adult meals. Even their fish and chips were a bit special, clearly decent quality.
So glad to be back and we'll definitely be back again the next time we visit Ambleside.
Was so disappointed that the experience didn't live up to the reviews! We went as a party of 4 and were seated upstairs. It was busy with it being a Saturday evening but the staff were run of their feet, a couple of them looked exhausted (no offence!).
Sadly service was quite slow and the man waiting on our table didn't seem impressed when we asked to order and made us feel uncomfortable.
Starters were ok but were followed by disappointing mains. The chicken souvlaki was extremely dry and the chicken with gnocchi was bland. On a positive note, the pork was good.
Had to ask on three occasions for a glass of wine and again was made to feel like we were being a nuisance.
Sadly wouldn't want to return and feel you can get a much better meal elsewhere in Chester for a fraction of the price.
Moules a Go Go Bistro, located at 6-12 Cuppin Street, Chester, is a brilliant choice if youâre after a relaxed midweek treat. We went for Wine Wednesday â ÂŁ26.95 for two courses plus a bottle of wine per order, with a choice of wines. I went for the Shiraz, which was smooth and paired perfectly with the food.
I started with the Pan-Fried Prawns, which were absolutely delicious â cooked perfectly and served in a rich garlic, tomato, and chilli sauce. The flavours were bold without being overpowering, with just the right kick of heat to keep it lively. I could happily have eaten a second portion.
For the main, I had the Classic Mussel Pot â fresh mussels in a beautiful white wine, garlic, and cream broth. It was rich without being heavy, with the cream giving the broth a lovely smoothness that worked brilliantly with the sweetness of the mussels. The portion was generous too, and the fries were crisp and perfectly salted for dipping.
The bottle of Shiraz was surprisingly good â crisp and refreshing, and it paired really nicely with both courses, making the deal feel even better value.
Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.
If youâre a seafood lover looking for great value, quality food, and a choice of wine, Wine Wednesday at Moules a Go Go Bistro is a fantastic choice. Iâll definitely be back â and next time I might try one of their other mussel pots, though itâll be hard to top the classic.
Great food, service and really attentive staff. Portions generous and every aspect was spot on from drinks , order taking, quality and time between courses and accuracy of the final bill. Couldn't recommend more highly. Try this place.
