Moules a Go-Go in Cheshire West and Chester

Moules a Go Go Bistro, located at 6-12 Cuppin Street, Chester, is a brilliant choice if you’re after a relaxed midweek treat. We went for Wine Wednesday — £26.95 for two courses plus a bottle of wine per order, with a choice of wines. I went for the Shiraz, which was smooth and paired perfectly with the food. I started with the Pan-Fried Prawns, which were absolutely delicious — cooked perfectly and served in a rich garlic, tomato, and chilli sauce. The flavours were bold without being overpowering, with just the right kick of heat to keep it lively. I could happily have eaten a second portion. For the main, I had the Classic Mussel Pot — fresh mussels in a beautiful white wine, garlic, and cream broth. It was rich without being heavy, with the cream giving the broth a lovely smoothness that worked brilliantly with the sweetness of the mussels. The portion was generous too, and the fries were crisp and perfectly salted for dipping. The bottle of Shiraz was surprisingly good — crisp and refreshing, and it paired really nicely with both courses, making the deal feel even better value. Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. If you’re a seafood lover looking for great value, quality food, and a choice of wine, Wine Wednesday at Moules a Go Go Bistro is a fantastic choice. I’ll definitely be back — and next time I might try one of their other mussel pots, though it’ll be hard to top the classic.

Such a lovely spot with playful Steam punk decor. The staff were wonderful and the food delicious!

This restaurant was easy to book online. I had muscles with cream sauce and my partner had seabass. We both enjoyed our dishes. The staff were very pleasant.

Went for lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m a coeliac -and everything was perfect. Staff reassured of the GF choices- which was a LOT! Tasty food, kind staff - great place. Steak was delicious and Children’s menu was really generous. Reasonable prices. Will definitely be back.

Lovely restaurant in Chester, within the city walls. Went on a Sunday evening in April 25 for dinner. Very friendly, attentive waitress, couldn't do enough for us. Had Calamari and Seafood Linguine and was full up after. Good atmosphere for a Sunday evening. Really nice area upstairs too. Can't recommend this enough.

Lovely friendly staff very welcoming and convivial. And the food is good too 😀 The mussels were really tasty as were the grilled mushroom starters. Drinks are a bit pricey

We visited two years ago, enjoyed the food so much that we came back again last week while we had a two night stay in Chester. The food was even better. Friendly staff, great drinks and fantastic food.

Moules a Go-Go, the best place for mussels in Chester. The restaurant has tonnes of seating and has really funky decor. Very hip and trendy. The staff are friendly and attentive too I'm delighted this place survived COVID, it's been around for nearly 25 years which speaks volumes.

Starters and mains were excellent, but somehow the worst desserts I've ever experienced (had the "creme brulee" and chocolate pudding).

The restaurant looks very nice and classic. Waitress and manager are very polite and friendly. We ordered to duck leg, sea bass and Korean chicken burger. The duck leg sauce is stunning good! we will definitely try again when we visit Chester again!

Updating my review from 3 years ago...just had a big birthday celebration with family and once again it delivers. Food is excellent ...wine choices is good and bar cocktails are interesting. Service is always friendly so highly recommend for a relaxed fun casual evening. Excellent food. I had very spicy Kimchi mussels to start. Very generous portion. All 5 in our party loved their meal choices. Definitely recommend a visit if in the area.

Our visit coincided with lobster Friday night and it did not disappoint. Husband had mussels with Welsh cider and bacon to stater which he really enjoyed and I had the prawn starter. We both had lobsters as our main and they cooked perfectly and was very well priced . The restaurant and staff were excellent and would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Mother’s Day visit booked by my daughter was wonderful. The Maitre D welcomed us, took us to our seats and then brought me a complimentary glass of delicious pink Prosecco as a treat - what a lovely touch 🥂 The pate and soup starters were tasty and good sized portions. The Moules Harlech ( with leeks and tiny chopped bacon pieces ) and frites was delicious as were my daughter’s fish cakes and my modern snowball cocktail was lovely. All in all a special meal in a lovely atmosphere with excellent service - would definitely recommend. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I came to Chester for the second time specifically for this place. The Ladies who served me were incredibly lovely. Food - 10/10👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼The best place!🫶🏼

Having eaten here before, we came again! The first time it was very busy and the quality of the food was sensational! This time, downstairs was running about 5 tables and the “Classic Moule” wasn’t following a traditional recipe! The carrots were awful and the portion sizes between my partner and I varied by about 20%! There was no butter offered with the bread - the overall taste was so so! We pointed out the issues to the restaurant manager who didn’t really seem to understand our concerns! Chez Joules next time ( having eaten there before too) One could argue that the ingredients were written on the menu…… however…. Having had this “ Classic” dish so many times in the South of France, I didn’t bother reading the ingredients list as being everyone knows, there are no carrots in the traditional dish? In addition, we weren’t offered the “Mother’s Day” 2 course deal, despite being within the time range

Tried most restaurants in Chester and this one is the first one brings the wow feeling. Fish and duck leg taste great. Desert tastes very impressive. Oyster …is just oyster, could clean more thoroughly. Portion is relatively small . Overall good food and good atmosphere at lunchtime. Polite and attentive service.

Up for a short visit to Chester we found this gem via Google reviews. I had Kimchi Mussels and my husband a sirloin steak. The food was amazing. Such good value too. Staff very friendly. If we re ever here again we ll def be back.

Really friendly and efficient service and fantastic food. Each of us had a different version of mussels - Harlech, Thai and Spanish - and they were all tasty with good portion sizes. Starters and desserts were also good and the overall bill was reasonable. Definitely one we'll go back to.

We went here in saturday night and were extremely happy with our decision, the restaurant looked amazing inside and outside with all the Xmas decorations, the staff were very attentive and happy, the food was absolutely amazing !!!! We started with the halloumi fries and sautéed mushrooms which were perfect, then for main we had the surf and turf platter which was fantastic, I can’t say anything negative about this restaurant and would definitely recommend it to anyone and will definitely be returning again soon 👍🏻

This was the best food I’ve ever had at a restaurant. My chef Jack was a gorgeous man who cooked gorgeous food, not to mention this is the best scran I’ve ever had. The waitress called Sophie offered great customer service and I would definitely recommend asking for her service. 7/7 would go here again. My fave!!!!

Visited here on Sunday with friends and was blow away by the service we received, especially the young lad Matty. He is absolutely fantastic at his job, he needs a massive pat on the back. Food was very good, well presented, hot and delicious. The cocktails were also very good. Will definitely visit again when I’m back in the area.

Came here with 4 other friends as we were staying down the road for the weekend and looked nice as we walked past. I have to say it was one of THE best Sunday dinners iv had, great portion size, tasty and hot! We also ordered the meat platter which my friend said was delicious. All the staff were friendly and attentive, especially Matty who was lovely! Such a lovely atmosphere, felt extremely welcome and delicious food, will absolutely be visiting again!!!!

Visited last night while staying over in chester , I'd pre booked . Warm welcome and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Waiting on staff were attentive, checked back on us that all was ok with food apx 5 mins or so after it arrived, which is always a big tick for me We went for the meat platter to share, and we added on sweet potato fries and peppercorn sauce . It was all hot and tasty . Had a couple of cocktails to finnish . Would return if in area

Excellent meal, sharing platter. Steak, chips, mussels, calamari, chicken and sauces. Reasonable pricing tor 2. Nice Italian wine. Could not fault our evening spent in Chester. A great place to visit finished of by a lovely meal. Would recommend booking as very very busy.

Loved every single minute of our dinner experience at Moules! I took the hubster and mum and dad. We all had starters. Dad had the mushrooms and said they were the best mushrooms he's had in ages! Well done chef. The rest had pate and it was gorgeous - YUM! The portions were generous - Mum and I could probably share next time. We then had the regular Moules - not the large. The hubster had the Thai Moules pot with bread and said it was lovely. He also helped me out with my skin on fries which were DELISH! Thoroughly recommend this place. We will be back OFTEN as we sometimes struggle to find a place in central Chester we all really love. We were served by Anna and George who were fantastic. We didn't meet Orlaith the manager but she clearly runs a tight ship - MASSIVE THANKS to Alan in the kitchen! See you all very very soon.

Wow, what a menu! So many choices. We commented that we would have to come back at least six times to try out several dishes that caught our eye. We had the surf and turf platter, which was absolutely delicious. We can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Loved it here, the food was amazing and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The mushrooms on toast to start were extremely tasty, and the mussels were so full of flavour (we had Harlech and Thai, both highly recommended). Independent restaurants such as this really shine bright amongst the dross that is usually served up by chains. If you like well-cooked food in a well-appointed restaurant, served by enthusiastic staff, you should come here!

Visited for the early evening special for my son's 18th. We were the only people in there, however the manager still had to chase the staff to wait on us. Great value foroney but not sure we'll return.

Me and my partner became very ill after having 2 raw oysters each, dont know if it was the product or how they were prepared, there was black dirt/sand on the shells.

Made to feel welcome the moment we walked in. We were in a group of 10 and it was perfect with a great vibe. The food was first class with a couple in our group opting for steak which looked perfectly cooked and they said it tasted great. I had the surf and turf sharing platter which had mussels, steak, prawns, calamari, chicken and fries, it was first class. The selection of different moules on the menu was amazing and I’ll be trying these next time. The bill including 6 bottles of wine came to only £52 per head which was superb value for money. In summary I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit.

We had a delicious meal here mussels we're outstanding my only small gripe was with the red pepper Houmous starter served with pitta - the pitta was such a small portion for the amount of Houmous however that's easily rectified - we definitely recommend a visit you won't be disappointed. The Wednesday wine deal menu is super - we all had a lovely evening.

Moules a go go is always a great experience. Today I enjoyed a meal from the lunch menu: the Harlech mussels with fries and the Belgian waffle for dessert. The mussels were fantastic, with a creamy leek and bacon sauce. There were lots of options on the menu though - including some tasty sounding sharing platters which I might have to sample next time! Service was great - attentive without being overbearing , and a lovely setting. Overall, a delicious meal, would reccomend.

Lovely chilled atmosphere for a Saturday night in Chester We were seated upstairs and was pleasantly surprised that not overly busy for a Saturday night. Really chilled and relaxed vibe. Could actually hear our conversations instead of the music being too loud. Disappointed that they had ran out of oysters for our starters but mussels were our main course, along with sea bass. Both really tasty. They even put a happy birthday banner up for us! Service was fast and friendly. Lovely evening. Would highly recommend.

Came back here as I remember really liking the place as a child and was still amazed with how good the restaurant still is. Me and my partner came into the restaurant at 19:30 on a Friday and greeted by the staff which were super friendly. The restaurant was very quiet as well which was very nice to see so we had no problem being seen when we needed to by the staff. Great selection on the menu and we chose the Seafood platter which we both really liked the look of as well as some extra garlic bread. We both really enjoyed the food. Although we would suggest avoiding the garlic bread as it was £4.70 and we only got two small pieces which we didn’t think was too great. Although we thought the seafood platter was really good for the price. We both really enjoyed all the food and would definitely come again.

Saw the sign for 'Thursday Special Offer. 2 courses + drink £19.99' My wife chose Ham hock starter followed by the Sea Bass. I chose Soup of the day followed by Thai moules with frites. The environment and service were excellent and the quality and quantity of the meals also exceeded that level. A most pleasant experience. Chester is fortunate to have such a restaurant. Well done Moules a Go Go.

Its well worth seeking out this gem of a restaurant. Food is second to none. I had mussel which were some of the best I've had. Everything is cooked to perfection and service is friendly and attentive. Set menu gives excellent value and plenty of choice. They don't just do seafood - it's Moules and more!!

Very busy restaurant but the staff where very good and the food was delicious, ordered the surf and turf with a side of mussels.

We have been to Moules a Go Go once before and we promised ourselves a return the next time we came back to stay overnight in Chester. So, for our wedding anniversary, we booked and it if is possible, it was even better than the first visit - and that was hard to beat. We went on 'Wine Wednesday' - 2 bottles of good quality wine, and a 2 course meal for £26 each! The restaurant was busy, but not to the extent where you are right next to other diners, and it is just gorgeous inside, lovely furnishing and decor, it is just like being in France. The staff are amazingly good - attentive, friendly, great to have a chat with but also complete pro's when it comes to service. Our excellent waitress even remembered us from our first visit (it was our anniversary then, too)! The food was magnificent, we had prawn and chorizo starters, and a seabass in a light sauce with veg for me, with my wife having a Sri Lankan curry - both meals we had to share, so I can vouch for both being perfect. We finished with a dessert we added to the bill, but well worth doing - creme brulee and a lovely gelato style fruit puree, washed down with more wine. The whole restaurant is just the perfect package, there is literally nothing you could find fault with, we even had a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival as it was our anniversary. Service was prompt, perfect timings in fact - no waiting around but no sense whatsover of being rushed either - if Carlsberg make independent, fantastic restaurants, they've had a hand in this one! The owner also popped in on her way home and came over to join us to see how we were enjoying our meal - our one regret is not coming to Chester often enough to make this a regular event. We have been looking at the menu's and they offer everything here - do yourselves a favour and pay this gem of a restaurant a visit, you will not regret it. Thank you all so much, we had the best night out we could have hoped for.

We had a brilliant evening at Moules a go-go, having been looking for somewhere to eat during an overnight stay in Chester. We spotted the restaurant due its good online rating, which is well-deserved. Lovely service, great food and really friendly. They also let us stay to watch the end of the Euro quarter-final match which was on (unobtrusively!) in the background - much appreciated.

Had a great lunch with 2 small children. Had a very warm welcome and then very tasty food. Healthy choices for the children and delicious mussels and mushroom bread. Highly recommended.

From being a walk in, we were welcomed by the owner who showed us to our table. Our server was polite and attentive, drinks served quickly. The food is amazing... We had sour dough garlic bread, I've never tasted anything quite like it. Surf and turf sharer platter (with the option to change elements) every mouthful was amazing. Would recommend to anyone to come and dine here.

We took our wedding party here after the reception and they went above and beyond. We were seated upstairs so it was just ourselves and they even personalised menu's for us and set up the tables in a wedding style. Staff were so lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was faultless from the second we walked in there, even with 4 children under the age of 4! The food was fresh, well presented and very tasty. I would recommend them to anyone, especially small wedding parties that are registering in chester. Thankyou thankyou and thankyou again. Special shout out to Duncan who communicated and organised everything and the waitresses who were a credit to the restaurant!

Excellent service, staff and food. You cannot fault this place. It’s consistently good and we have always been impressed. Great menu of different mussels dishes, and if you don’t’ like mussels there’s plenty more on the menu to appease your appetite. The food is amazing and the lunchtime set menu is good value and has loads of choice. Location is just a 5 min walk from Chester Cross Give it a try, it’s great!

Perfect spot for a relaxing lunch! Gorgeous seat by the window in the sunshine, great service, and most importantly the food was epic. Highly recommend taking advantage of the 2 courses for £18.95 such good value for great food. We will be back.

We happened to be in Chester on a Wednesday when this restaurant has a special deal on Wednesday for a 2 course meal and wine for £25.95. This proved to be such excellent value. The food was really delicious and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Another fabulous experience at Moules a go go! Beautiful fresh oysters to start, main course of Harlech mussels and a quality bottle of wine all for less than £80 for the 2 of us. The service from the lovely Libby was friendly and attentive! 5 stars from us - again!
