Loved it here, the food was amazing and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The mushrooms on toast to start were extremely tasty, and the mussels were so full of flavour (we had Harlech and Thai, both highly recommended). Independent restaurants such as this really shine bright amongst the dross that is usually served up by chains. If you like well-cooked food in a well-appointed restaurant, served by enthusiastic staff, you should come here!

This is now a must when we visit Chester. Foods always lovely. Relaxing and fun atmosphere and the staff are lovely.

Visited for the early evening special for my son's 18th. We were the only people in there, however the manager still had to chase the staff to wait on us. Great value foroney but not sure we'll return.

Me and my partner became very ill after having 2 raw oysters each, dont know if it was the product or how they were prepared, there was black dirt/sand on the shells.

Made to feel welcome the moment we walked in. We were in a group of 10 and it was perfect with a great vibe. The food was first class with a couple in our group opting for steak which looked perfectly cooked and they said it tasted great. I had the surf and turf sharing platter which had mussels, steak, prawns, calamari, chicken and fries, it was first class. The selection of different moules on the menu was amazing and I’ll be trying these next time. The bill including 6 bottles of wine came to only £52 per head which was superb value for money. In summary I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit.

3rd time here , absolutely great mussels, I've now had the classic, the Thai and the Spanish, can't fault it 👌

We had a delicious meal here mussels we're outstanding my only small gripe was with the red pepper Houmous starter served with pitta - the pitta was such a small portion for the amount of Houmous however that's easily rectified - we definitely recommend a visit you won't be disappointed. The Wednesday wine deal menu is super - we all had a lovely evening.

Booked for "Wine Wednesday" while we where on a short break in Chester, 2 courses and a bottle of wine each for £25 a head, very warm welcome, excellent wine and food, recommended you try here if in Chester.

Moules a go go is always a great experience. Today I enjoyed a meal from the lunch menu: the Harlech mussels with fries and the Belgian waffle for dessert. The mussels were fantastic, with a creamy leek and bacon sauce. There were lots of options on the menu though - including some tasty sounding sharing platters which I might have to sample next time! Service was great - attentive without being overbearing , and a lovely setting. Overall, a delicious meal, would reccomend.

Came back here as I remember really liking the place as a child and was still amazed with how good the restaurant still is. Me and my partner came into the restaurant at 19:30 on a Friday and greeted by the staff which were super friendly. The restaurant was very quiet as well which was very nice to see so we had no problem being seen when we needed to by the staff. Great selection on the menu and we chose the Seafood platter which we both really liked the look of as well as some extra garlic bread. We both really enjoyed the food. Although we would suggest avoiding the garlic bread as it was £4.70 and we only got two small pieces which we didn’t think was too great. Although we thought the seafood platter was really good for the price. We both really enjoyed all the food and would definitely come again.

Lovely chilled atmosphere for a Saturday night in Chester We were seated upstairs and was pleasantly surprised that not overly busy for a Saturday night. Really chilled and relaxed vibe. Could actually hear our conversations instead of the music being too loud. Disappointed that they had ran out of oysters for our starters but mussels were our main course, along with sea bass. Both really tasty. They even put a happy birthday banner up for us! Service was fast and friendly. Lovely evening. Would highly recommend.

we attended on the recommendation of several people. we went for the lunch deal. we shared a bowl of Thai mussels then bot opted 4 rump steaks. lovely helpful staff.we will be back: a family businees and you can tell.

Saw the sign for 'Thursday Special Offer. 2 courses + drink £19.99' My wife chose Ham hock starter followed by the Sea Bass. I chose Soup of the day followed by Thai moules with frites. The environment and service were excellent and the quality and quantity of the meals also exceeded that level. A most pleasant experience. Chester is fortunate to have such a restaurant. Well done Moules a Go Go.

Its well worth seeking out this gem of a restaurant. Food is second to none. I had mussel which were some of the best I've had. Everything is cooked to perfection and service is friendly and attentive. Set menu gives excellent value and plenty of choice. They don't just do seafood - it's Moules and more!!

Very busy restaurant but the staff where very good and the food was delicious, ordered the surf and turf with a side of mussels.

We have been to Moules a Go Go once before and we promised ourselves a return the next time we came back to stay overnight in Chester. So, for our wedding anniversary, we booked and it if is possible, it was even better than the first visit - and that was hard to beat. We went on 'Wine Wednesday' - 2 bottles of good quality wine, and a 2 course meal for £26 each! The restaurant was busy, but not to the extent where you are right next to other diners, and it is just gorgeous inside, lovely furnishing and decor, it is just like being in France. The staff are amazingly good - attentive, friendly, great to have a chat with but also complete pro's when it comes to service. Our excellent waitress even remembered us from our first visit (it was our anniversary then, too)! The food was magnificent, we had prawn and chorizo starters, and a seabass in a light sauce with veg for me, with my wife having a Sri Lankan curry - both meals we had to share, so I can vouch for both being perfect. We finished with a dessert we added to the bill, but well worth doing - creme brulee and a lovely gelato style fruit puree, washed down with more wine. The whole restaurant is just the perfect package, there is literally nothing you could find fault with, we even had a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival as it was our anniversary. Service was prompt, perfect timings in fact - no waiting around but no sense whatsover of being rushed either - if Carlsberg make independent, fantastic restaurants, they've had a hand in this one! The owner also popped in on her way home and came over to join us to see how we were enjoying our meal - our one regret is not coming to Chester often enough to make this a regular event. We have been looking at the menu's and they offer everything here - do yourselves a favour and pay this gem of a restaurant a visit, you will not regret it. Thank you all so much, we had the best night out we could have hoped for.

We had a brilliant evening at Moules a go-go, having been looking for somewhere to eat during an overnight stay in Chester. We spotted the restaurant due its good online rating, which is well-deserved. Lovely service, great food and really friendly. They also let us stay to watch the end of the Euro quarter-final match which was on (unobtrusively!) in the background - much appreciated.

Had a great lunch with 2 small children. Had a very warm welcome and then very tasty food. Healthy choices for the children and delicious mussels and mushroom bread. Highly recommended.

From being a walk in, we were welcomed by the owner who showed us to our table. Our server was polite and attentive, drinks served quickly. The food is amazing... We had sour dough garlic bread, I've never tasted anything quite like it. Surf and turf sharer platter (with the option to change elements) every mouthful was amazing. Would recommend to anyone to come and dine here.

Was an excellent night and I also love the fact their dog friendly.

A lovely little restaurant close to the centre of town, and as the name suggests, a haven for lovers of muscles. Highly recommended.

We took our wedding party here after the reception and they went above and beyond. We were seated upstairs so it was just ourselves and they even personalised menu's for us and set up the tables in a wedding style. Staff were so lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was faultless from the second we walked in there, even with 4 children under the age of 4! The food was fresh, well presented and very tasty. I would recommend them to anyone, especially small wedding parties that are registering in chester. Thankyou thankyou and thankyou again. Special shout out to Duncan who communicated and organised everything and the waitresses who were a credit to the restaurant!

Excellent service, staff and food. You cannot fault this place. It’s consistently good and we have always been impressed. Great menu of different mussels dishes, and if you don’t’ like mussels there’s plenty more on the menu to appease your appetite. The food is amazing and the lunchtime set menu is good value and has loads of choice. Location is just a 5 min walk from Chester Cross Give it a try, it’s great!

Stumbled across on our way back to getting picked up and wow what a find! We only had cocktails and wine but the staff and service is excellent, we could have stayed all evening - so clean, amazing vibe and can’t wait to re-visit x

Perfect spot for a relaxing lunch! Gorgeous seat by the window in the sunshine, great service, and most importantly the food was epic. Highly recommend taking advantage of the 2 courses for £18.95 such good value for great food. We will be back.

We happened to be in Chester on a Wednesday when this restaurant has a special deal on Wednesday for a 2 course meal and wine for £25.95. This proved to be such excellent value. The food was really delicious and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Absolutely love this place, the food is fantastic, the service is amazing and the general feel is lovely for anyone looking for a nice meal. My only disappointment is the price of drinks, a can of coke delivered to the table in the can at 3.25 I cannot even begin to justify

Another fabulous experience at Moules a go go! Beautiful fresh oysters to start, main course of Harlech mussels and a quality bottle of wine all for less than £80 for the 2 of us. The service from the lovely Libby was friendly and attentive! 5 stars from us - again!

Lovely little gem if your touring the area, or shopping and just want a nice meal in a chilled environment this is the place to go reasonably priced as well staff are wonderful will definitely go back.

What a gem this place is. If you love mussels or oysters this is Nirvana. They do have other items on the menu, the soup of the day carrot & ginger was so tasty. Great service too, even on a dreary weather wednesday.

Lovely little Gem! We went for Valentine's Day tonight and will definitely be back! My partner has Colitis so chooses to be gluten free to help his symptoms. We explained this to the staff and were super helpful and clued up on allergies. Even discussed that my chips were cooked in a fryer which they fry gluten products so if he is allergic not to nick a chip. Lots of gluten free options available on request. We both has mussels, one naked one Spanish and both had the pate starter. We will definitely be back to try other flavoured of mussels! Thanks for being so lovely ❤️❤️

A lovely local bistro with delicious food & atmosphere. We dined here for our first couples night away from the children in 6 years! It did not disappoint, a lovely welcome, great music, vibe and food. Not just mussels on the menu, my hubby enjoyed a nice steak. I enjoyed the Harlech mussels, so reasonably priced & lots of them. Paired with a nice wine & warm friendly service, we’ll be back (hopefully sooner than 6yrs!)

Not usually a huge seafood fan. My wife is and we went there for her birthday. Very nice meal and excellent service and atmosphere. Definitely plan to visit again.

The service was absolutely fantastic, the staff were extremely attentive and service was very fast. The food was gorgeous, we opted for the large pot of classic mussels with a few other sides between us (fries and french bread). We will definitely be stopping by again next time we visit Chester

We visited for a late lunch having searched for a seafood restaurant in Chester. We selected the oysters and seafood sharing platter which were delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Highly recommended 👍🏻

Once again took advantage of a unique Chester culinary experience at Moules a Go-Go which is their end of month Lobster Friday. This resto is a great stalwart of the Chester scene and it's longevity is testament to the quality of its food and excellent team led by Duncan. Opted for the Cream of Tomato Soup this time as starter though I'd usually go for the oysters, just felt I needed to warm up on a cold night! The soup was as good as I've tasted. The piece de resistance was of course the lobster freshly delivered that day and cooked to perfection. I requested sweet potato chips to go with and this presented no probs for the team. Again we went for the excellent House Champagne - Veuve Dussot - which at £40 is great value and only a few quid more than a bottle of Prosecco - perfect accompaniment to lobster and oysters. The desserts were superb - I had the winter berry waffle and my wife had the sticky toffee pudding. Again a switch of ice cream flavours presented no probs for the kitchen. Special mention to our charming waitress Millie but a perfect dining experience in the hands of professionals who really know what they're doing. Chapeau!

Friendly service, a pleasant traditional interior, but average food. The mariniere sauces weren’t the best we’ve tasted, the mussels had far too many sharp broken shells present (rushed preparation?), and the bread baguettes served were very disappointing (stone-cold, non-crusty & bland). Maybe they were having a bad day but we’ve had much better moules and artisan breads in Belgium and France.

We tried the restaurant for an early dinner after a nice day in Chester. We were greeted by Orlaith a wonderful waitress. So welcoming and so professional. The oysters were superb, the confit duck and kimchi excellent. Prices very reasonable but what a great ambiance. If you are in Chester this is a place not to be missed!

Visited for coffee, very pleasant reception quickly shown to table and drink order taken. The drinks soon followed by a lovely polite and pleasant young lady. There were two young waitress’s not only smiling and pleasant but worked as a team. What a change to see such lovely young people.

My meal was very good, but one of our party of six said some parts of his main course were undercooked. Hence only 4 stars, but still very good value for money.

Visited just before Christmas. Great fixed price menu and food really good! Bottle of wine for £20 too which I'm pretty sure is cheapest in Chester!! Lovely staff too.

Myself and three other family members came down with food poisoning from the oysters. We regularly eat here, and the food and experience has always been great (hence we eat there for big family meals a lot). But just before Christmas, all members of the family who ate the oysters came down sick at different intensities, ruining Christmas Day. The response from management and the owner was rather shocking, not wanting to take any responsibility for the incident, when all we wanted to try and do was explain the situation so it wouldn’t happen to other customers in the future (we received every excuse from the batch volume to the suppliers filtration process, but no accountability). Sad to say we won’t be dining here again due to the response we received, and their clear priority for preventing any liability, rather than simply apologising (we didn’t ask for a refund or anything else to make up for the incident). A shame.

For starters we had Oysters, Calamari & the Pate - all very good. For the mains we had 2 Classic moules and 2 Spanish moules with fries and bread. All very good. For desert we shared the nutella & banana waffle and the honeycomb & caramel waffle - both very good. We also had the Christmas cocktail on their drinks menu - made with Bulleit Bourbon, Orange juice and a cinamon syrup - excellent - these were so good we ordered 2nd glasses of it. We also had a bottle of the house champagne - also very good. The service was helpful with a smile and the person doing the cocktails was very informative about the Christmas cocktail which is one of his creations.

A fab lunch, wish we had made it supper. Super fresh moules and oysters. Other foods very hot and well cooked. Friendly and enthusiastic young servers. Wine sensible money. Would we go again? you bet ya’.

Stopped by for lunch when in the city the other day. As good as ever and for me 2019 was the last visit, after many years of regular visits. Squid starter was tasty, Moules were delicious. Staff pleasant and efficient. Recommended.

The taste and the quality of the food was brilliant, and they do also have plenty of choice for the non-sea food lovers. The service and staff were fantastic. The vibe was so cosy and warm and even on a chilly Wednesday evening. It was nice and busy, but not loud. Just the perfect atmosphere. A really lovely evening. I will definitely be coming back - I've decided I want to keep coming back to try every variety/flavour of mussels haha! Definitely go and give this place a visit!!!!!

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! It was easy to find, and the service was excellent. The young lady who served us provided helpful recommendations, especially since it was my first time trying mussels and oysters. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was perfect – intimate, warm lighting, and away from noise. Highly recommended!

I had the most unpleasant experience here with my boyfriend on Sunday. Although the dining and service was great, my table had the unfortunate experience of food poisoning after he spent over £100 here!!! This is completely unacceptable, I'm not sure what dish exactly gave us food poisoning - all dishes were seafood based so you can understand how unpleasant this experience has been. This is extremely disappointing considering how much money was spent at this establishment. I would avoid returning again or even recommending this restaurant to anyone. I am beyond disappointment - I think the process in which food is cooked and prepared that cannot be seen behind the dining experience should be questioned. Both of us had to take a few days off from work and college because of how harsh the sickness was. Do better for your customers.

We had a wonderful meal here on the 1st November 2023. The atmosphere was really good and the staff were friendly and efficient, attentive but not intrusive. The chef produced the most amazing food. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and eat here again.
