The best restaurants in Heighington and Coniscliffe Darlington North East

Just had to write one final review of this excellent restaurant which is now sadly closed. We were lucky enough to have our second (and now, final) chance to try their tasting menu, and every dish was a delight. Looking forward to seeing whether there will be a new place with Michelin stars to try soon!

Very good food well presented and large portion size

Can't fault them. Had the most wonderful, hot out of the oven , Christmas scone today , with a piping hot latte. The staff are always Friendly and welcoming and the food is good, home baked and nicely presented.

Great craic on Christmas day as ever

Gorgeous old building, lovely attentive staff and I've got to say possibly the best tasting carvery I've ever had, huge piled plate, 4 meats and all the trimmings🤤 I'd give 6 stars if I could

This was my favorite restaurant and had such amazing food, came for years . Unsure what happened over the last 12/18mths but the menu change and the food has changed so much and not for the better . Unsure if theres been a change of chef ,Unfortunately after our last visit In July wouldn't return for food If it isn't a change in chef please bring back the old menu

Not my first visit here, however the food was out of the world, compared to recent times with thanks to Tracy’s amazing cooking skills. Will definitely be spending Saturday mornings in here from now on

Could not fault the dinner and breakfast and the service from all the staff in the restaurant. Everything was spot on

Having just had a similar afternoon tea in a castle in Cheshire we can say that this was streets ahead of that and any other other afternoon teas. The setting is very glamorous, the staff well trained and the food was lovely. Really made the day for our parents' anniversary.

Great pub, friendly owners, and a nice selection of beers with tasty home cooked food. Would recommend.

3 courses of bland microwave food in a cold restaurant. . Kept thinking it would get better. It didn’t.

We visited the spotted Dog for a Xmas dinner with friends. We had been before and enjoyed but it was even better on this occasion than we had remembered. The greeting when we arrived was warm and friendly which reflected the overall atmosphere in the pub. We had pre dinner drinks 🥤 in the bar area before being taken to our table for dinner. The waitress gave us the specials for the evening and took our order for drinks and then our food order. Our starters were fabulous! My husband had plate envy so we both shared our starters as they were sooo good. Lots of lovely flavours! The main course followed and it didn’t disappoint. My husband had a lamb dish which he loved, our friends had the pork T bone chop and I had fish which was superb. All came well presented and were Absolutely beautiful! The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout the evening with excellent product knowledge of their choice of wines, other beverages as well as the food menu and daily specials . Nothing we requested was too much trouble! We had a fabulous evening and will very much look forward to visiting again this wonderful village pubs and restaurant.
