Baydale Beck Inn in Darlington

Food was good but not hot. I don’t have a clue what was going on but we ordered a late lunch on a Saturday and it took an hour to get to us. Mum had a pie; I think maybe they did the rest too soon then had to wait for that? Was obviously great quality food and lots of it - I had the pork and bacon and would recommend it - but nobody explained the wait and the food really wasn’t hot. Lovely place but a bit disappointing.

We went for a family meal here and enjoyed our visit. We will go back. We went back and had Sunday lunch and it was a great meal

Ordered from the vegan menu and got served meat and they tried to deny it at first. The waitress didn’t know what drinks they served or what spiced rum was. I do not recommend

I was OK,spent some time in there as we had something to discuss with my family,we had lunch and wine but we were left alone, I think more customer service is needed,food was nice and well presented.i don't think we'll be going back soon,I work in catering and customer service is paramount especially in today's climate.

Food is always decent and a lovely spot for lunch or a snack if on any of the walks near by!

Came in as a walk in (early) and seated in the airy conservatory. Dinners arrived quickly and service was very good. “Small” Sunday lunch served with two really nicely sized (and thick) slices of beef, loads of tasty gravy, a couple of roasties, mash and parsnip. Extra side of pigs in blankets is a must with decent sausage and bacon making them larger than typical chipolatas wrapped in cheap bacon. Great dinner and good value for money.

Perfect meal, had steak and cooke exactly how i asked for it.

It's been many years since I've been to the Baydale. I had high hopes and booked a table to celebrate my son's GCSE results. Menu looked good and there was a vegetarian and vegan menu. Food was okay, portion size a little small compared to cost but the service wasn't the best. Had to prompt three times for a dessert menu whilst a table next to us were getting annoyed at having to wait for service. Maybe I caught an off day.

Got together to meet up with family and friends. Food was delicious, great service and will return again. The only downside was sitting in the conservatory as on a sunny/hot day, it can be sweltering.

Nic place for lunch. There are good options on the menu, and you won't go away hungry.

Chips greasy and too thick, parmo full of oil, order taken incorrect although eventually rectified with terrible customer service, will not waste money here again!. Professionalism abysmal.as you can see by response!

Lovely venue always a nice lunch , dinner reasonable pricing , nice inches hot weather to sit outside.

Lovely little pub in a great location. Took my wife and children for a meal here. The pub was very clean and tidy, had a nice feel to it. The staff are lovely and very attentive. Food and drinks were very well priced, great portions and very tasty. Thank You for a lovely experience.

Fantastic home made fish cakes and super friendly people. This was an impromptu visit as we were driving down south and we made a good choice 👍

Here for a working lunch, the selection of food was really good, the goats cheese Buddha bowl was really good, lots of flavour and toppings! Great for vegetarian!

We had a lovely meal here. The bar staff were really helpful & friendly there was a large selection of drinks. Well worth the visit

Great food and good size portions, also separate Veggie and Vegan menus. Will definitely return for a meal sometime.

Unfortunately the starters we ordered were nothing like the menu description, our main meal was luke warm.

It was nice food had a good selection formy grandson who could have a pudding because they do vegan puddings

I had the best of British comfort food in a heated room. Service was fast and efficient. Tables were arranged like a canteen but that was my opinion only.

Friendly staff, good ale and fine food

Ate out in the run up to Christmas with a party of 9 really good food and service was spot on. This is my favourite trusted place in Darlington. One of the best breakfast I have had for a long time will be back.

Had a fabulous 3 course Xmas lunch, certainly value for money, management and staff perfect host's, highly recommend to all.

Decent place with friendly staff. The interior decor felt a little cold and clinical. This feeling was probably because of the white and light grey/blue colour scheme matched with a tiled floor. Having said that, the room was warm and comfortable. Having a separate menu for vegetarian and vegan options offers a good range of food, which makes a refreshing change. The portion sizes are adequate, even the small fish and chips was a reasonable size. The vegetarian burger with chips was also a good size and offered good value for money. The food was well presented and nicely cooked. Overall, we were pleased with our lunch and will definitely return again in the future.

Called in for Saturday Lunch Traditional Pub , Slightly confusing on entering which direction to go but once in we were given a warm welcome. Plenty of choice on the menu homemade dishes + specials board . The waitress was lovely attending to us , a credit to the business. Food was very tasty, hot and large portions Only negative was the fire backdrafts making the dining room slightly Smokey .

Food was cooked nicely and hot when it was served. Basic pub menu. Staff gave the impression that they would rather be somewhere else. Building was tired and in need of a deep clean and some TLC.

The ribs were lovely, chips were great and staff fantastic. We were there for the quiz too which was good fun. One down side which won't affect everyone the people there got really drunk and were a bit rude

Went on the off chance of somewhere to go for a parmo. Didn't book. Arrived, decent size car park and a few people in but spare tables. Amazing friendly staff showed us to a table, got our drinks whilst we liked at the menu. Ordered texas parmo and a veggie parmo and extra onion rings. Really nice well presented food. Freshly cooked and tbh probably the best parmo I've had. Nicely loaded and very moist. Very impressed. Will certainly head back there.

Had a fantastic meal with family at short notice, cancelled BBQ because of weather. Great place to eat with friends and family!!!

Average meal, parents are fairly regular diners but can’t say the menu or meals were much to get excited about. Staff ok though need a lesson in how to hand over drinks, shouldn’t be putting their hands over the top of the glasses etc.

Had a nice guest cider 6.8%. Sat outside in the sun listening to the birds. Perfect.

Had my first parmo, its great that they do a small portion one with different options, I had garlic and mushrooms, very nice.

The food is great, I was with a party of ten and everyone enjoyed whatever they were eating, the staff were very helpful and polite, a really great experience, my wife and I will certainly be going again.

Had sunday lunch here yesterday after visiting the Tees Cottage Pumping Station. Food was delicious with a generous portion size, staff were really friendly & helpful, as were the locals i spoke to. Fabulous place, great location & lovely outside space too. Plenty parking as well. Great find which i hope to return to on future visits.

Ordered three meals, waited over an hour, asked when food was coming only to be told the waitress hadn't put the order through. Awful experience so extremely doubtful will visit again.

This venue is class. The staff are more than helpful, the menu iz good and the meals are fair sized and very tasty.🦊🏴‍☠️

Fantastic food, portion was amazing and good value for price, was a bit akward walking in and felt maybe not the correct place to go. How ever once your inside and settled lovely staff amazing food. Was given dog treats and water and the regulars was very welcoming

Luvly place to go for a pub lunch sat out in the sun. Perfect when you have kids as they can play in the play area. Will defgo go again. Food was nice and fresh and homecooked.

Great food and excellent range of ales etc. Been past this place so many times, finally went in and was very pleased. Lots of outside space. Very good for kids in the garden

Absolutely banging meal, great service and dog friendly outdoor area

Visited here tonight and was really disappointed with the menu choice and food quality. Quite a limited choice of dishes offered. Most of the same genre ie burgers and parmos. Menu has changed so previously enjoyed dishes such as belly pork no longer available. Waitress informed us that the Menu is changing again to things like wraps & Ribs ........ We attempted to order Pork tenderloin only to be told this had ran out so not available. Changed order to Chicken supreme & Sauce. When it finally arrived after a very long wait . Food was disappointing, no way was it a Chicken supreme it was a extremely small chicken breast with soggy skin with a tablespoon of sauce on top. The best part was the homemade chips. Don't think we will return or recommend. There's far better places to visit with good service , great selection and excellent quality. Such a shame this has gone downhill.

Service is extremely good, very polite staff very good food. I would like to say the blonde petite bar woman with a triangle tattoo on her neck was very warming and polite and made me feel welcome.

Great find for us whilst house hunting. Lovely friendly staff and customers and a gorgeous meal. Didn't think they would be serving food at 2.15pm but had a full menu to choose from and it was beautiful. Even do smaller portions for people like me who can't eat a lot, but still very generous. Loved it.

Dined here yesterday,tried the Vegan mince and dumplings with seasonal veg....Mrs tried the Vegan Parmo(for those unaware, everything derived on Teesside as the Parmo was ends in an O.. ie,your names Dan,your nickname on Teesside is Danno,...John?,you're Johnno...😵‍💫).... anyway.....both beautifully presented,cooked to perfection... And absolutely delicious....Big portions too,and the service from the greeting upon arriving to the service from the young girls serving was just brilliant..... definitely worth a visit....

Staff friendly enough place clean & tidy. Food basic pub menu & quite a small portions although foid was piping hot very pricy for what you got. Went for the special steak pie expected more for the price disappointing not worth the price £15. Wife went for a small portion omelette was not the greatest either could of been an off day give the benefit of doubt

Always liked the food here and came for the first time in quite a while yesterday for my sisters birthday. The parmo was tremendous! Nice and thick and done perfect. Best pub parmo I've had in ages! Definitely one of the best pubs for food in Darlington!
