I called in tonight for Fish and Chips at Fridays in Darlington. Constantly good quality and large fish perfectly cooked. And the price at only £8 is outstanding value on today's prices. 5 stars.

Love this place! The food is brilliant! The fish cake is lovely and I recommend it for sure, it’s my go to food from a chippy, the staff are really nice and friendly!

First class fish and chips always. I have been going there regularly every two weeks for at least six years. A good variety in their menu. Customer service that would be hard to beat. Always enjoy my curry as an extra. Mushy peas are also recommended.

Food always spot on, fresh homemade chips not out a bag. Decent size portions tasty battered fish and nice battered sausages. Shop is always clean and good friendly cust service from the staff. Best Chippy in Darlo.

Best fish shop in town, always freshly prepared on order. Open most lunchtime for convenience. Service is quick and friendly.

I think that the fish and chips here are perhaps the best in Darlington. Consistently good quality and value. Actually, their standard cod and chips is big enough for two people. 5 stars!

Portion sizes are amazing, food great, staff super friendly only down side was slightly expensive but i think thats the world right now

The guy working there in the afternoon is extremely rude. I had a terrible experience last Thursday on 10/02.

I have just had burger and chips and my girlfriend had fish and chips we have never had a meal with so much grease before the order came out of the fryer with very little drain off before it was wrapped up we won't be back............in reply to your response I understand that some potatoes hold moisture but this food was absolutely laden in grease...we called at Fridays on our way home to bishop Auckland..we stopped at a layby to eat our food and ended up putting the whole lot in the dust bin ...absolutely disgusting

FRYDAY's in Darlington. Went to FRYDAY's on Saturday 17th April 2021. Staying in Ovington for a week. The chippy closest to us was SHUT. So ended up going to Frydays in Darlo. Glad I did !!!! One of the best fish & chips I've had in a long while. Friendly staff, even through all of the Covid19 rules & regulations. I would really recommend that you give them a try if you're in the area. 😀😀😀👍👍

Ordered fish and chips for the Mrs and a Donner meant and chips for me. Fish cooked to order with lovely crispy batter and nice golden chips. Tasty Donner meat. Tried the curry sauce and garlic sauce both👌 friendly staff and great customer service. Will definitely be back.

Got to wait ages, never anything ready. The chips are not 'real' chip shop chips. But ok if your starving.

Nice big fish, well cooked, with decent chips, but it was spoilt by the amount of fat that came off the fish. It soaked the chips, and then through 5 or 6 layers of paper and pooled in the bottom of the carrier bag. Would have been 5 stars if the fish was properly drained and the price was a bit more reasonable.

Very questionable hygiene practice in this shop. The lady at the counter gives the raw fish to the fryer to cook and then handles money and your fish and chips without washing her hands or at least wearing gloves. Then she wipes her hands down her apron. Avoid if you don't want food poisoning.

i popped in a few days ago at lunch time and got a large haddock and chips. i have to say the chips were nice and fresh and the haddock was very nice and tasty the batter was great i.e. not to greasy and very crispy i will go again to get more food in the future. and the lady at the till was very nice to talk to very very friendly...and to add more to my review iv had there masala fish and it was lovely a bit spicy but not to much i would recommend this chippy to anyone who asks which is the best fish and chip shop the staff are wonderful the prices are always spot on llike the staff and the food im going there again tonight i just can't get enough of there food

Asked for a large portion of chips but when I seen the portions I asked again if it was a large portion and I was told that they didn't do large. Nice1 wouldn't have ordered otherwise.

Absolutely disgraceful food .we were served chips that were just awful and off. Fish dripping in fat and smelt awful. Staff when we took food back argued with us and were exstreamly rude .I have never tasted food like it and never want to again. With regards to your response it's a load of rubbish...a small amount of fish was eaten and I told you I kept some of the food back and will be showing food standards first Thing in the morning. Have you read a large amount of your reviews??? Can you not see a heap of these comments are complaints about the quality of your food??? You argues with me in the shop you were rude and disrespectful. You had 2 customers one young girl and one older man . You could see the food I brought back you could see how awful it was ..yoir bount to defend your business I guess but me I speak the truth and the food and quality was awful just awful and I agree with the most of the reviews you have ...the food is not good and if it was you would have 5 stars and you most definently do not .

Called in after visiting the odeon cinema fish was very good but chips were the worst I've had in a long time. Huge portion of chips but would rather have quality than quantity.

Tbh chips not very well cooked and batter on fish and chips tasted burnt or something at cost of £17 normally very happy with service and shop just a bit dissapointed... maybe burnt batter.?

Had a wedding in darlington to attend to over the bank holiday weekend asked the hotel receptionist and hotel staff for a good chippy. They all said frydays. Got here after a short 5 minute drive from our hotel. The shop was busy, it was nice to know they cook fish to order which i always like. We placed our order of two fish & chips and two kids meals from the big menu hard to choose but we got there in the end!! Whilst our food was cooking we got chatting to some people in the que and the staff and i must say how friendly the staff were, really polite and helpful. A young couple in the que said they travel across town to come here passing 3 shops on there way. After a few minutes our food was ready. We had ours open ready to eat in the car. The fish & chips were excellent. Nice tasty large cod with good size chips, portion was really good also, curry sauce was nice too, the kids enjoyed their kids meals of spam and sausage chips with gravy. we were stuffed after eating every single bit out of the box!! yummy yummy!!! Only wish we had a chippy like this were we live. will definitely recommend this chippy, very reasonable in price, good portions, clean and friendly staff. We Will definitely be back again when we are down again in darlington

The meal was large cod, large haddock and chicken nuggets all with chips, my daughter asked for 4 different things to which the first three items were not available, the chips were almost burnt, the haddock was very greasy to the point I picked up a bit of the haddock and had to wipe the grease of my fingers, I never did finish the meal. I was also disgusted at the price, I did look at the price on their menu online first thought for the fish was a good price for what I was getting, but when I had ordered the meal's it almost cost me £30. I will not be using this fish and chip shop again, Both me and my fiancee have been quite ill, after eating at this fish and chip shop, we are still recovering.

My family and I happened to come across this wonderful village fish and chip shop whilst on a short break. I must say the fish and chips are the most amazingly taste tantalising traditional dish I have had the pleasure to eat! A truly Quality British fish and chips, and the service from the family run establishment was everything you would expect from the hospitality of a village chippy to the quick service of a fast food outlet. Keep up the good work and excellent food!!

Waste of money fish was tasteless and drenched in grease

All you need to know is I won't go to any other chippy than frydays, best in Darlington and they remember what we order when go in that's just a bonus.

Here fish and chips are made to perfection! I've never been disappointed and I can recommend this restaurant to anyone, hungry or not.

Re-fried leftover chips, fish was tasteless and greasy, curry sauce was Maysan paste with added black pepper.

This fish shop is family run and they are always Busy . When my dad brings their fish and chips Home they are always nice and hot .The cod is big enough to share with 3 people

Regular fish was a good size regular chips was more than enough for 2. Chips were a big anaemic and soggy but fish was very good though batter wasn't crunchy enough, peas were also very good. Not a bad lunch but not in same league as some West Yorks chippis like Murgatroyds or Wetherby Whaler

Best fish and chips in town - the fish are the size of sharks and the chips would feed a family of 4 as there are that many, excellent freshly cooked fish and chips.

Use this Chippie when visiting my daughter and we decide on takeaway for tea. They are an family run business and everything is cooked fresh while you wait. The portion sizes are huge we've made the mistake of ordering the smallest chips for everyone and still end up with so much leftover! The Fish portions are large also and prices are very reasonable. All in all an good chippie

This is a good takeaway. You get great food and value for the price. You get alot of scraps too if you want them. The staff have always been polite and friendly.

ate at frydays 3 times first experience was nice the second time the fish and chips were greasy but edible the third time yuck terribly greasy inedible might as well have put my money in the charity box it would have made me feel better than eating the food
