The best restaurants in St James's City of London, Westminster London

We went a few weeks ago with another couple for some lightish pre-theatre eats. We hadn't visited for a few years and it was as good as ever. The tapas were so scrumptious (carefully chosen ingredients in delicious combinations) that it ended up as more substantial than we intended. As before the staff were efficient, attentive and friendly. We highly recommend it. It's small so book a table particularly if it is pre-theatre. It is a delightful little bar if you just want a drink.

Fast, efficient service from the Barista’s at Pret, no matter the time of day. I especially enjoy the Pret chocolate chip cookie, which is far superior to cookies from rival coffee chains (Starbucks et al). The cookie has the right amount of crunch, with a soft, buttery centre and generous chunks of melted chocolate chips. The cookie is simple yet flawlessly executed and always served with a smile from the friendly staff. Wow!

In my opinion this market is much better than the Camden Market, a wide variety of different stalls and plenty of items for sale to make the journey worth while. It can get a bit cramped inside, especially on a Saturday so if you are a wheelchair user or have a push chair, please be aware of some narrow gaps.

Good burgers a bit dear but good and the Shake was excellent

We had a lovely experience at the restaurant. Eduarda was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Her warm and professional service really made a difference — we felt very well looked after. Highly recommended

We visited as a family and felt like we were family. Diego greeted us warmly and we felt very special. We sat inside and Joao our waiter was quick , friendly and efficient. We had the Pre Theatre menu. I had a Goats Cheese salad which was delightful , followed by the Tuna on the Hot Stone . We also had the Steak which was buttery , soft and full of flavour Diego is a complete asset to the restaurant , he represents best of service , a perfect accompaniment to the best of foods .

As someone who loves Udon and Japanese food, Machiya has been my go-to place for Niku Udon, Kara-age, and Agedashi Tofu. The owner of the restaurant is really friendly, and the service and food quality has always been consistent. Would recommend!

Been there for tea time ver traditional

Upon arrival at 4pm we were told our room would not be ready for hours because they were busy, but they did have a much more expensive room immediately available! Well, after a hard sell from the front desk we took the room because we were exhausted from an 11 hour flight. Well the room was terrible! It was on the 9th floor below the bar with its loud noise from the music! It was impossible to sleep ! The breakfast is terrible with horrible service! It took us 40 minutes to get a cup of coffee! Another day they completely forgot my breakfast. It took 4 attempts from different staff to finally get the meal. Room service for breakfast was terrible. The food delivered cold and the order was incorrect. The hotel manger was never available to speak with and the front desk staff seemed to have no ability to resolve an issue. The location is good, but there are better hotels in the area. Lastly, upon checking out I was told , correctly, there were no additional charges. Hours later, I get an email for additional charges false charges for the mini bar! We never used the mini bar any day! Getting management to remove the charges has been extremely frustrating and difficult! A new charge came emailed to us over 10 hours after check out! BE very careful when checking out and watch out for for false charges! Better yet, I highly recommend to not stay at this hotel!

Magnificent experience. Brilliant, classic cooking, with great service and wine. Needs to be kept for special occasions. A true gem!
