Wasted 45 min. The staff work at a snails pace. There is a queue makes you wait atleast 30 min. People are freezing outside when there are enough empty tables. The food is fine btw, but not worth freezing under 8 degrees.

Lovely spot near Buckingham palace. We had the soup and toastie, as well as the selection of three mini scones. The scones were absolutely delicious and the soup was great too! We just didn’t like the toastie all that much… it’s made with industrial toast and low quality cheese… The staff was nice though and the decor is lovely. Overall, we recommend this place for a nice cream tea!

I stumbled upon this coffee shop by chance and fell in love with it! Very English and typical, informal but very welcoming. Freshly made, genuine and "homemade" Club Sandwich, like scones... Amazing everything!

I had cream tea on Friday morning. You don't have to make a reservation, so you have to wait, but there was one or two groups in front of us, so we went in without waiting too long. The price was reasonable and the vanilla scone was delicious. Two people ordered tea for two, but it was too much, so I think it would be okay to order for one. But as I saw in the review, the teacup was a bit dirty. They say it's because it's a vintage glass, but that's not true. It seems like they don't wash the dishes thoroughly. Because if you scratch it with your fingernail, it comes off. Well, the atmosphere was pretty and I liked it, so I just skipped it.

Superb experience both taste and visual, I recommend to French people looking for a typical London place, with refinement at a very reasonable price. Find an Aftermoon The for £30 per person, and yes, it’s only here. The service is impeccable, I had a great time with my mother and incredible memories. Many thanks, I will come back.

We were there for breakfast a few days ago. We had full English breakfast and it was good. The cafe has nice English decor as well.

They make you wait outside for ages in the cold even when there's enough space to wait inside and then they come outside and tell you it's too late to order food as they're not serving it anymore. Terrible customer service.

When we finished our tour of Buckingham Palace, we went to this Cafe. It was a short walk away. The cafe was full when we arrived, but we were able to get a seat inside after a short wait. The Afternoon Tea is a must have. It was a really delicious! My only complaint is that the seating area is a bit cramped

Cute cafe but totally overrated. Waited 25mins before a table was free. With so much anticipation you expect it to be really really good, but my wife makes better scones at home. Just a Instagramable location... not visiting again.

Don‘t believe the hype or the exaggeratedly good reviews. This place has mediocre (lukewarm) coffee and tea service at best, the food is nothing short of tasteless and bland, served unenthusiastically by slow, unmotivated people who keep you waiting forever. The utensils and cups are unmatched and cheap, decor of the cafe just mashed together to serve as an „impression“ of something they definitely are not - with lamp bulbs not working, rather filthy looking walls and tables, etc. The quality of the food is the worst though and NOT worth the money or the ridiculous wait outside.

Driven by a desire to try the famous English afternoon tea Time, we let ourselves be guided by the Google reviews which took us to the English rose café, and we were not disappointed at all. The little sandwiches and cakes that accompanied our tea were excellent. We highly recommend going there for your own English Tea Time experience.

Scones, basic coffee, so-so soup, ugh There are so many Koreans I should have stopped the Koreans waiting.

Over all is a good place to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea. Food is lovely, really enjoy soup of the week, the traditional afternoon tea have good selection and pastries are well balanced with the tea. Sandwich may not perform well with my taste. Wish that they have more gift selection for tea, and open mind about how we can share one dish.

Well this is so disappointing! We got there and were standing outside waiting to be seated for almost 10 mins while there was plenty of tables available. Then when stepped inside the guy behind the bar yelled at us go outside!!! We simply thought nobody saw us so we stepped inside but their reaction was unbelievably rude. So we stepped outside again and after waiting for another 5 mins and wasting our time, left and enjoyed having a coffee in a place where treats ppl with respect.

The older brown haired employee was very rude. 30 minutes before closing time, the chairs were already put up on the tables around us and we were no longer allowed to use the toilet.

There was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. Scones were amazing (get the vanilla one- it was like a cloud), tea was fantastic. I also loved the carrot cake. I got the afternoon tea and it was delightful. My mom loved the sausage roll. I went to Fortnum and Mason today and much preferred English Rose for food quality and staff friendliness.

Cute place right on the back of Buckingham Palace, very near Victoria underground and railway stations. Reasonable prices, scones are so delicious we even got one extra to share. Supperberries tea was amazing too. Atmosphere is great with good music selection (light rock mainly, at least when we were there) and staff are super friendly and fast to serve. Totally recommend and will be back for sure!

Really nice tea room, good pastries however there are few choices in terms of flavor for tea but the one we had was delicious. We didn't understand the waiter and he brought us two pots of tea, 4 cups each, we had a good laugh 😂.

A week ago, whilst on holiday, I treated myself to a bit of English breakfast in a small cafe down from Buckingham Palace. I actually came across this place by accident after taking a wrong turn. Bacon, sausage and egg muffin/bap and Americano were VERY yummy and tasty. I sat by the window and had a lovely 1/2 hour here. Thank you staff. I'll try to post my photo too

Charming place! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and excellent service. I loved the vintages plates and cups. Drinking from a lovely retro tea cup was amazing. ! Unfortunately, I would recommend avoiding their cakes. I had ginger and lemon cake and, oh boy, I finished it just because I hate waste. It was so sweet that you could hardly taste any flavour. It tasted as if the baker accidentally dropped a bag (or more!) of sugar in it. Unpalatable. You might as well just eat spoons of sugar. Probably half or ⅓ of sugar would be quite enough. Other than that- I’d come again (and limit myself to tea).

They will not refill water to your tea.

Going to a good place and having traditional English afternoon tea is recommended for anyone visiting London! I definitely recommend The English Rose! But be prepared to wait before you can enter. The environment is busy! It's difficult not to have a queue.

Came fully prepared to spend money at a family owned establishment. I was very disappointed. Service was absolutely horrible. We sat and waited a good 15 minutes to be asked what we would like to order, that’s after standing and waiting outside to be seated while looking at empty tables. If they were busy I would completely understand. Had a server look right at us several times and turn and walk away. The table next to us were discussing the slow and rude service as well. A group came in and one person from that party asked to open the window because it was so hot and was treated rudely as well. I had fully intended to purchase the full tea service for 3. However, at that point we were feeling fully unwelcome, hot and uncomfortable in falling apart wicker chairs. Only stayed because my daughter wanted to be there. Don’t waste your time going to this place. The cakes were dry and the service abysmal. Spend your money somewhere else.

We ordered a rough snack that was very good, except for the cucumber crumb sandwich, I preferred a nothing sandwich and then my girlfriend, since we were spending relatively little money, went and ordered a scone that was harder than reality. But the experience was pleasant

Everything was perfect, we came this afternoon after visiting the palace..the service and welcome were top notch...don't hesitate to say if you have any allergies..the very tasty sandwiches...the scones are killer. .and the super good cakes...as well as the drinks...great experience

It's a small, but quite pretty establishment with tasty breakfast options. Service was fine for the most part, except for the seating arrangements. They forced a couple of us to sit separate from our four friends, even though it would have been quick and easy to push the tables together - they were already close and it wouldn't have caused any issues for the servers going around. As somebody who works in a similar environment, I do not understand this unwillingness to accommodate our little group.

Very little place. Too little. Went here as it came recommended by a friend. Didn't like it as much. Staff was friendly and welcoming. But as they got busier, checking out wasn't the same. Not rude but not polite either. More like "we are done, you can leave". Avocado brunch was the most bland I've ever had. The sausages in the full breakfast was more than charred in places. Had to leave it. Eggs, we asked scrambled. Tasted more like the mixed readymade scramble eggs at hotels like Holiday Inn. Not fresh. Apparently they could only make sunny side up or scrambled. Not regular omelette. Not sure if the sunny side up are also not fresh 🤢 The Rose lemonade was just rose water with barely any fizz. Absolutely not worth getting. The chai latte without coffee was good. Again, tea pot wasn't. Don't need to pay so much for horribly tasting tea bags dunked in water.

We went for breakfast and ordered a number of dishes: classic vanilla cake with butter and excellent jam, and a scrambled egg dish with avocado and English tea. The dish is very small, but it is worth trying.

Lovely little cafe that offers afternoon tea at an economical price. You won't leave hungry. More than enough sandwiches and desserts offered per person. They don't have reservations so we arrived at 11:30 to make sure we got in at noon when they start offering tea. We got in at noon. Loved everything that was offered for tea. One of the highlights of our trip. One of the best scones I have eaten.

On my first visit to London, I discovered this place, which I highly recommend. The food is delicious, the theme of the place is lovely, it's clean, and the service is excellent. I particularly enjoyed their English breakfast, and the decor made the experience even more memorable. Don't miss it if you're in the area!

The coffee is delicious and the atmosphere is nice. Great for a quick break right next to Buckingham Palace Nice atmosphere and they do hava a toilet inside. And the price was reasonable.

First, I want to say that the staff/servers were very nice. Unfortunately, the scones weren't very good...I can't say much about the other food. This review is for the scones.

I had to wait about 10 minutes to get in. It was totally worth the wait, warm fresh scones with lovely Jam and cream. I took some home for my family in NL ❤️ they were still very fresh to eat after a day of travel.

A small place but there was plenty of seating in the cafeteria. The staff has good service, more than helps to find a table. A nice menu, ate a scone, was very satisfied! The price is normally not too expensive. Given that it is in the center, it is cheap and not a tourist trap. Visit this place if you want to try scones.

I expected a little more from this cafe. I ordered a scone with their jam, and well... I wouldn't order it again. On the other hand, the coffee was really good. The establishment is very cute, but perhaps if I return to London I would want to investigate and find other cafes.

Visited this cafe 2 years ago and had a lovely experience with friendly staff and nice food. Because of this I thought I'd give it another go, I'm sad to say it wasn't the same experience. On arrival the staff didn't come and take our order for 15 minutes and people that came in after us were getting served before us. My friends food came out at the same time, but I had ordered toast that they forgot about and had to remind them to bring it over which took another 10 minutes. When we went to pay they then decided to tell us that it was cash only. There were a lot of staff standing around chatting instead of checking on their customers. There were 6 members of staff on, surely this many people should make the service quicker.

We fully expected a wait with such great reviews but we were quickly attended and were met with delicious food and a charming atmosphere. We were pleased with both the price and the complete experience. It will be a repeat for sure on our next visit to London.

My friends and I were able to walk in for afternoon tea on a weekday. It's probably one of the cheapest options in London at £30 per person and I would say it was worth it. If you prefer a basic, traditional afternoon tea (simple sandwiches, scones, and cake rather than the fancier items you'd get at hotels) this is a great choice and budget friendly. The highlights were the scones and sandwiches, but we found the cakes/sweet options a bit too sugary and nothing to write home about. Service was good for the most part, although it did take a while at the end to get the bill.

The service was incredible, everyone was welcoming and so so kind, my sever was Kevin and I couldn't have asked for better treatment. I had the vanilla scone and white tea and it was the perfect afternoon treat!! One of my favorites in London would for sure come back

Service is non-existent. Was timed 30mins when it’s 1hr+ till shop closure. Proactively communicating limitations would be nice. Severely overcrowded for the space, decor looks tired - imagine pub-like atmosphere with peeling paintwork all over. The sultana scone was nice - the only saving grace.

Most of the tables were wonky ( didn't bother me, but i have to say it). The service was quite standard, could have been more friendly, but.... i went there for the scones ,not to make friends.

The staff is extremely rude. Normally it closes at 6 p.m.!!! We arrived at 4:45 p.m. and rather than telling us that they wanted to close at 5 p.m., they sat us down and forced us to choose right away but they refused to serve an afternoon at 4:45 p.m.?! From 5 p.m. they refuse customers so we advise you not to go there after 4 p.m. The waiter is very rude.

Cheese scone is probably the only thing that worths trying. Vanilla scone is dry and cold. Club sandwich is not tasty at all. We couldn’t even finish it… and chai latte is too sweet.

The most wonderful place to drink tea 🫖 with cheap food. The treatment was very good 🇩🇿🇪🇬 I advise everyone just to go early because it is crowded

I had the Avocado Brunch, Cream Scone, and a latte. I really recommend their scone! They warm it up and serve it with fresh clotted cream & jam- simply irresistible! The café is also really cute and also quite spacious.

Good experience for the tea featuring small sandwiches (too bad the English brunch ended a little early, I didn't have the chance to taste it). Fair prices but I was outraged by the tourists who leave a lot of food when it is specified that you can absolutely ask for takeaway. The cafe also does TGTG so I think they really try to reduce waste as much as possible, despite some disrespectful visitors. A friendly and not exorbitant address yet not far from Victoria and the palace. Too bad also for the fact of having to pay by card in a country where bank charges are high..

The experience of having tea at this place was beautiful. The service is excellent, we ordered 2 afternoon teas (1 of them with a vegetarian option that was brought without problem). The most delicious of all: the sweet scones, without a doubt. Everything was spectacular and although there was sometimes a line to enter, we did not feel rushed at all by the staff to leave. We paid £25 per person for the full experience but were very full even though we hadn't had lunch. Highly recommended.

A nice, quiet and comfortable place to stop by after a long walk through the city. Food ration sizes are debatably small for the high price tag similar to its quality. Finger sandwiches are basic, seemingly having 2-3 ingredients hidden between thicker layers of bread. Scone was nice and crunchy but rather poor in flavour unless you cover it with butter and sugar. Service is polite and relaxed, perhaps too relaxed as to take their time to let waiting customers at the door while finishing the conversation they have at hand.

There was a somewhat short waiting line outside, needed to wait to be seated but wasn’t too long especially for a Saturday, the lady at the shop was kind and polite, totally worth the wait! The scones are to die for! Sooo good, proper clotted cream and jam. I had an oat milk Cappuccino with my scone then went for scrambled eggs on bread, all quite tasty, fueled up well for a long day ahead!
