The English Rose is a gem in the heart of London. We went there 4 times in 1 week (breakfast, brunch, tea time). The food is delicious, the value for money is unbeatable. All the staff are incredibly kind and patient. A big favorite for Danièle who was exceptional with our Marius (2 years old) who kept asking for cuddles. The englis rose made our holiday in London more human, authentic and with a touch of magic. Thank you. We will come back with great pleasure.

I recently visited an English tea shop located on Bressenden Place in Victoria, just a 10 mins walk from the Underground Station. It's very easy to find! I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the tea shop, and the staff were very friendly. I ordered the Scone tea set, and their scones are larger than usual. Paired with clotted cream, it was simply a perfect match! I’ll definitely come back to try other options next time.

A cosy little café where you can enjoy a classic British breakfast. The café also proposes British muffins that you can customize and a range of tasty homemade scones that are perfect either for breakfast or a chill afternoon tea as if you were home. Great service.

This is a little gem! I’m so happy I stumbled upon it on Google maps. We shared the platter or 4 scones with extra jam and cream. It was hard to decide which one was our favourite. Each scone was so tasty, moist and warm!

The place is clean and the bathroom too. It's really near from Buckingham Palace. 10 minutes walking. I will come back 🥰

I chose Earl Grey,, was good.. goes really well with their scone. The scone was really big. I could not finish it by myself. They give enough jam and clotted cream for the scone. Scone was decent considering the price. Normal service.

No hot water provided It is not possible to share a teapot between 3 people and 2 people. The milk served with tea is very hostile. I ordered 3 scones, but only 1 with jam and cream was provided. Fried hash browns are cold on the inside Expensive and incomprehensible service Cutlery stickiness I've had a lot of English breakfasts, but this was the worst. It was okay when I came here 4 years ago, but how did it end up like this? There were no guests. I don't think I'll ever come back again

I love the English Rose Cafe and Tea Room. Great atmosphere, great staff, great food, and great coffee. The vanilla scone and the breakfast muffin were delicious. Very cool vintage decor too. I recommend a visit whenever you're in London. It's also very close to many city landmarks.

We arrived at ten to 11 in order to hve breakfast. We had to wait outside in the cold for half an hour and when we were finally seated they told us breakfast was over. I know they said breakfast ended at 11:30 but we arrived with plenty of time before that. Other than that the food was nice and the bathroom facilities were fine. But with a tight staircase.

Went here a while back and we heard about this cafe from social media a lot and it was alright, looked good once inside and bit on the pricier side. However, we felt that one of their staff members could've been a bit more warm, polite and social - one of them ought to have more customer service training as we found her a bit cold and distant. The scones, cakes and pastries and tea were nice (and clearly popular for all the right reasons amongst all their customers), the place was busy when we went and service was attentive but nonetheless, we felt something was lacking and had an okay experience overall, albeit nothing exemplary or memorable. We won't be returning in the future I'm afraid.

The place looks great but the food is sadly only okay. The scones were not super fresh and the tea selection could have been better. We also found a hair in one of our mugs which is never great.

Utterly disappointing. I read some of the good reviews here and assumed they were all genuine. I came here with 2 friends yesterday. There was a post put right in front of the door to say - “please wait outsideto be seated” which acted as a barrier too. It was a bitterly cold day, and we waited quite a while. While inside, we asked the waitress for a table for 3 and she questioned where was the 3rd person in a very unfriendly way, when I told her our friend was running 10 min behind, she told us we had to wait outside until all people in the group arrived. Then when we stepped in, we saw several empty tables and asked if possible to have the table in the middle as the space between other tables are all very small, we were given a stern No and ordered to sit in a tiny corner beside the old piano. Also it puzzled me why they let so many people wait outside in the cold while they had more than several tables free? Especially that they don’t take reservations… When our friend wanted to use the bathroom, she was told it was “out of order”, when I asked when it would be repaired, I was told “maybe a few days time”. How can they accept customers coming here for tea with a long wait out in the cold but without toilet facilities, do the staff not use toilet facilities themselves? We ordered scones but the cream coming with the scone was a tiny tub put on a cheap thin paper “cup” which was the size of a tablespoon .. When the group next to us were leaving, one of the chairs fell on us, maybe time for them to reconsider the space but also replace with some proper chairs! I felt guilty suggesting friends this place thinking it would be a cozy place for a catch-up but turned out to be a rather unpleasant experience. But seems most people there are tourists, so guess most people wouldn’t bother too much and the tea shop is in a good location. Have been to over 45 countries but don’t recall anywhere I have had such rude service from a simple tea place, certainly not anywhere in London where I have lived for over 20 years.

A very quiet and romantic cafe just a short walk from Buckingham Palace. We had breakfast but they also serve tea at 5pm. I recommend it for a typical London breakfast. Very kind staff.

A little stingy with cloted cream and jam which accompany the scones. Original cheese and chocolate chip scones, although not to my taste. The raisin scones were unfortunately dry. Nice place with totally old-fashioned decor that we love. Unfortunately WC out of service!? And overall not super clean.

Everything was great except for one staff (blonde gal) who wasn't very nice. We'd wanted to order just one set of afternoon tea for two & a teapot for two; there were four of us & she said we couldn't & had to order two sets of afternoon tea. We ended up having to take away almost a complete set! We noticed there were two other tables with also four people & they only ordered a set of afternoon tea. So, we were not very satisfied especially my wife! The rest of the staff were very friendly & nice tho'. Could have been be a good experience if not for that one unfriendly blonde staff & her insistence! ☹️

Waited outside and was told it would take a maximum of 10 minutes. Once at the front I was told very unfriendly that they were full and it would take at least 20 minutes.

Kitsch atmosphere so British, I love it! The decor is great, the service is welcoming and the scones are wonderful!!! For two people, Tea Time costs 23 pounds, so not expensive compared to other places in London! On the other hand, come before 4:30 p.m. for a real full tea time!

I had 3 mini scones and the white tea with blueberry (and some other notes I can’t remember). The tea was excellent and the scones were fresh, warm and tasty. The vanilla scone was my favourite, cheese scone was good but not the best I’ve tried. I imagine this would have been a much better experience if I came at a less busy time (I came on a Sunday afternoon), but I think this place is too touristy to really enjoy. To no fault of the staff, who put up with some very entitled customers - I was quite put off by the crowd, the table beside me was very inconsiderate, speaking loudly, beefing the staff and berated a waitress. Even as I was trying to leave, a lot of customers waiting to enter the shop wouldn’t let me past.. Cafe is honestly quite a cute, cosy place; If you do decide to visit please be nice to the staff and considerate, it is not bothersome to just the people running the place but to other paying patrons. Please don’t ruin the experience for others.

If you don’t accept booking then I don’t expect you to tell people how much they need to stay . I thought it was disrespectful to ask people to leave just because they finished “ eating” and pay the bill So if they ask you to pay the bill just say “ no give us bit more time “ else they will ask you to leave Never going to come back to this pace again But good food though :)

If you are looking for a café for a typical English “tea time”, this is the right place. The scones and tea are really delicious, prices are fair. However, I was disappointed with the quality of the service, the wait was quite long (this is understandable, there are few seats inside) but once seated, we felt rushed by the staff. As soon as the cutlery is placed, the plate is cleared immediately, we are charged neither at the beginning nor at the end, but while we are eating. After 15 minutes (from the time we were served) a member of staff came to us to tell us that in 5 minutes maximum we had to be gone. We didn't understand because as we were leaving, we heard a waiter explain to the people waiting outside that they were no longer accepting any tables because they were going to close in 30 minutes, so no one was waiting for our table, and we would have could stay a little longer (the café was still full). The dishes served are very good, but unfortunately we did not find the service very warm, maybe next time :)

We went to breakfast, and we have been waiting for about 30 minutes outside to be able to get a table. Just when it was our turn to enter, the girl told us that the coffee machine was broken. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR HALF AN HOUR. Terrible service, a super rude girl, especially considering that no one told us “hello, there is no table, we're sorry. The wait can be X minutes, plus there is no coffee machine” NOTHING. I highly recommend going to Eat Pronto which is right in front, impeccable service and much higher quality food. Edited: I understand your position, which is ultimately what you should have as a company, I understand it because I also have one. I don't put reviews unless the service has really been VERY GOOD or VERY BAD. And the feeling of this cafe is that they care little about the customers, if they had told me there was no coffee from the beginning I would have saved more than 30 minutes of time and I wouldn't have been waiting in the cold

If it had been possible to give less than 1 star I would have done so. Unwelcoming staff in particular a waitress, with a Mediterranean accent. The scones were undercooked, clotted cream resembling more butter than anything else. Honestly, I strongly advise against it, even if the price is affordable given London standards

After enjoying tea and a scone here, I ended up with a terrible bout of diarrhea. I'm not sure if it was the water bottle, the cup, or the food—could have been any of those. Given the prices, though, you'd think they'd be more generous with the clotted cream and jam.

Love this afternoon tea! What My friend and I went here for some afternoon tea. Well, more just scones and tea. We got 2 plates of the mini selection and a pot of tea. The scones were very fresh along with the clotted cream and jam. It is great that they have scones all day. Environment This was quite a small space with a number of seats inside and could fill up pretty quickly. When we got there around 3p, there was a wait outside but it went pretty quickly. Niceness of the staff Very nice staff, we were able to place our order and didn't have any complications. Dollar it was decently priced for good scones afternoon tea experience Yes Yes I would!

Great we were a group of 12 and managed to sit near sharing 3 tables. Staff very helpful and choice of food suitable for mixed tastes. A lovely time was had by all.

I had a tour at Buckingham and this was right next to it. Nice little spot to hang out, not overly priced. I had the 3 mini scones with clotted cream and jam. Cream to scone ratio was off. It also took a bit too long to take my order. But the staff were pleasant enough. I sat outside but the traffic was loud, no stars off for that since it was my choice. I would go back.

Wasted 45 min. The staff work at a snails pace. There is a queue makes you wait atleast 30 min. People are freezing outside when there are enough empty tables. The food is fine btw, but not worth freezing under 8 degrees.

I stumbled upon this coffee shop by chance and fell in love with it! Very English and typical, informal but very welcoming. Freshly made, genuine and "homemade" Club Sandwich, like scones... Amazing everything!

I had cream tea on Friday morning. You don't have to make a reservation, so you have to wait, but there was one or two groups in front of us, so we went in without waiting too long. The price was reasonable and the vanilla scone was delicious. Two people ordered tea for two, but it was too much, so I think it would be okay to order for one. But as I saw in the review, the teacup was a bit dirty. They say it's because it's a vintage glass, but that's not true. It seems like they don't wash the dishes thoroughly. Because if you scratch it with your fingernail, it comes off. Well, the atmosphere was pretty and I liked it, so I just skipped it.

When we finished our tour of Buckingham Palace, we went to this Cafe. It was a short walk away. The cafe was full when we arrived, but we were able to get a seat inside after a short wait. The Afternoon Tea is a must have. It was a really delicious! My only complaint is that the seating area is a bit cramped

Cute cafe but totally overrated. Waited 25mins before a table was free. With so much anticipation you expect it to be really really good, but my wife makes better scones at home. Just a Instagramable location... not visiting again.

Bourgeois but the pastry blah blah

Don‘t believe the hype or the exaggeratedly good reviews. This place has mediocre (lukewarm) coffee and tea service at best, the food is nothing short of tasteless and bland, served unenthusiastically by slow, unmotivated people who keep you waiting forever. The utensils and cups are unmatched and cheap, decor of the cafe just mashed together to serve as an „impression“ of something they definitely are not - with lamp bulbs not working, rather filthy looking walls and tables, etc. The quality of the food is the worst though and NOT worth the money or the ridiculous wait outside.

Driven by a desire to try the famous English afternoon tea Time, we let ourselves be guided by the Google reviews which took us to the English rose café, and we were not disappointed at all. The little sandwiches and cakes that accompanied our tea were excellent. We highly recommend going there for your own English Tea Time experience.

Over all is a good place to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea. Food is lovely, really enjoy soup of the week, the traditional afternoon tea have good selection and pastries are well balanced with the tea. Sandwich may not perform well with my taste. Wish that they have more gift selection for tea, and open mind about how we can share one dish.

Well this is so disappointing! We got there and were standing outside waiting to be seated for almost 10 mins while there was plenty of tables available. Then when stepped inside the guy behind the bar yelled at us go outside!!! We simply thought nobody saw us so we stepped inside but their reaction was unbelievably rude. So we stepped outside again and after waiting for another 5 mins and wasting our time, left and enjoyed having a coffee in a place where treats ppl with respect.

The older brown haired employee was very rude. 30 minutes before closing time, the chairs were already put up on the tables around us and we were no longer allowed to use the toilet.

There was a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. Scones were amazing (get the vanilla one- it was like a cloud), tea was fantastic. I also loved the carrot cake. I got the afternoon tea and it was delightful. My mom loved the sausage roll. I went to Fortnum and Mason today and much preferred English Rose for food quality and staff friendliness.

Cute place right on the back of Buckingham Palace, very near Victoria underground and railway stations. Reasonable prices, scones are so delicious we even got one extra to share. Supperberries tea was amazing too. Atmosphere is great with good music selection (light rock mainly, at least when we were there) and staff are super friendly and fast to serve. Totally recommend and will be back for sure!
