It is currently temporarily closed. During the summer, the store's historic furniture, paintings, and serving trays were put up for auction. I sincerely hope it reopens next year. I was shocked because we had known each other since 1991.

I visited Simpson's courtesy of the late P.G. Wodehouse. I cannot imagine that the scene where Wodehouse places Aline Peters and George Emerson at Simpson's will be any different when that peerless restaurant reopens in 2024 than it was in the fictional "Something Fresh" set in the 1920s...

Simpsons was the best of all The Saviy's restaurant and it is disgraceful that the new hotel owners have not re opened Simpsons, it is not only a fabulous restaurant for The Savoy to have but an icon of London fine dinning. The Gordon Ramsay restaurants offer inferior cuisine and surroundings to Simpsons and the restaurant needs to be re opened with haste.

There are all sorts of restaurants in London, from the restaurant which makes you fancy you are in Paris to the restaurant which makes you wish you were. There are palaces in Piccadilly, quaint lethal chambers in Soho, and strange food factories in Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road. There are restaurants which specialize in ptomaine and restaurants which specialize in sinister vegetable messes. But there is only one Simpson's. Simpson's, in the Strand, is unique. Here, if he wishes, the Briton may for the small sum of half a dollar stupefy himself with food. The god of fatted plenty has the place under his protection. Its keynote is solid comfort. P.G. A great experience. Definitely an occasional joint, £45 for a roast dinner is racy, but the pomp and tradition are what you come for. I felt the staff could do more to draw you into the theatre of it all, they were quite standoffish and not super engaged, but I guess that is just London!

Back in January 2020 we went to simpsons in the strand London for my wife’s Nan 90th birthday. The place was amazing I felt really special there. We first sat upstairs in a bar area and they came up to us to ask us what we wanted to drink and were very polite. We then proceeded downstairs to the main room for our dinner, the hall was amazing to look at and again the staff were brilliant friendly and looked after us very well. We were lucky enough to be sat next to the grand piano so in the background we had some beautiful music playing while eating and talking. The food was excellent and went down a treat . This is a place I would recommend highly to visit and we will be visiting again as soon as possible. A great meal out .

We returned to Simpsons, for the best roast beef dinner in any restaurant, in the UK possibly the world, of course not quite as good as mum used to make, but nearly. If you want the best service, and the best roast beef, then simpsons is the restaurant, it has charm and atmosphere that is so hard to find now in the UK. The beef is brought to your table by a master carver, on a antique silver domed trolley, and then carved in front of you. We have had dinner there many times. Thay also have a cocktail bar, but we normally go to the American cocktail bar next door in the Savoy Hotel,as Simpsons is also part of the Savoy. If you whant perfection, and surrounded by hundreds of years of Quintessential British charm, then you should go to Simpsons, to see how it should be done. We can't wait to return.

First visit was exceptional, we had one waitress who was amazingly friendly and professional, we didn’t seem rushed and had an excellent time. So we booked to come again a year later. What a change. We had so many different waiters we lost count. At one point we were asked to order 3 times by 3 different waiters. We were told to hurry as ‘the restaurant is getting busy so we should order now as it may take too long for our food to arrive’ I could expect that sort of spiel in a local £20 per meal restaurant but not when you’re paying £200. The waiters just seemed to casual to command this sort of price. We went for the great service and left with a sour taste. Its a shame as the first time was so memorable. I hope they retrain some of their staff.

Some refer to Simpsons as an "Institution" but it is much more than that and in my view the finest restaurant for lunch in London. The style is Edwardian at its best and the food and service simply excellent.. It is hard to choose other than the superb beef dishes, but there is so much more choice and all of the highest quality. My prime recommendation is to take your time and expect at least 2 hours over lunch to savour the food and the atmosphere.

I confess - Simpson’s is one of my favourite restaurants in the world. I can’t easily describe the timeless quintessentially English ambience that they have captured - but it is unique. I prefer the tables on the outside of the room if in a two or quiet four but on this occasion we were central which wasn’t a problem. The service was outstanding, attentive but not intrusive. Beautifully presented food at each course and perfectly cooked. If you are a meat eater - Beef from the traditional antique serving trolly has to be done. You do not need to eat before Simpson’s as with other restaurants, as the portions are good. A superb choice a wines to accompany the courses topped of a perfect evening.

Decided on smoked salmon statrter which was excellent and just the right portion. Main course was Roast Beef which was also excellent. The accompaniments were really good large Yorkshire, roast potatos and savoy? cabbage & gravy. The portions were just about right but it was so delicious that I ate the lot! I had a glass of claret which, again, was very good. Two disappointments The complete lack of atmosphere due to empty room. I thought it a little overpriced as lunch came to £ 71:00 to which 12 1/2% service charge was added which I think is lot for 1 person. However the food and service were first class and as it is such an iconic venue, I suppose that must expect to pay top dollar.

My wife and I had supper at Simpsons in the Strand. The place was amazing the staff were friendly and I felt at home right away. We both ordered the lobster bisque soup (a recipe from the 1930's) to start then I had the beef Wellington and my wife had the lobster thermidor for mains. I had previously had a wonderful lobster bisque soup at the Elystan street restaurant but unfortunately this was not of the same calibre. It tasted horrible and was so thin and I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth for the rest of the evening. I had to leave it and fill up on bread. I was glad they removed the bowl because even the smell of it was unpleasant. I did enjoy the Louis Roederer Brut champagne though. Then the beef Wellington arrived and it looked like it was from a kids menu it was that small and it tasted average at best. I was disappointed with the meal. My wife enjoyed her lobster though. I don't know what to say about Simpsons because I really enjoyed the Knights bar on the first floor (had a rum Alexander which was incredible), the decor, the friendly staff and the champagne just not the food.

Traditional in the best sense of the word and all that it conjures up. Exceptionally polite, able, attentive (but not overly), and knowledgeable staff from the reception desk, to the upstairs bar, to the waiters and waitresses, and the sommeliers. You can have a great lunch or dinner (the beef is the one to go for, obviously, but everything else is great), with a steady flow of claret, and chat or play chess (seriously, I have done so many times, with their board that they usually have on top of the piano - it started as a coffee shop in which a lot of serious chess matches were also later played, so they are pleased to have this tradition continue or, at least, they have not stopped me yet), depending on the nature of your companion at the time. They have also reintroduced the treacle pudding, incidentally, after considering doing so for around 10 (or it might be 20) years ('we did not want to rush the issue', was what I was told, absolutely correctly, in my opinion). Fantastic.

A very special room for a special occasion. The service, though, wasn't quite as classy as everything else, with the waitress unable to answer my question about the ingredients, the waiter having to ask which meal belonged to whom when he brought them to the table, and a long wait for the bill at the end of the night (despite asking for it three times). All these things are fussy, I know, but they're what I'd expect from a fine dining establishment worthy of the name.

Great food with service to match. Why use 50 characters when 34 was enough?

The beef from the trolley was superb. Scallops were only warm. Vegetables with main courses were only warm . All other aspects first class .

My friend and I had the Oysters, sadly later that evening we were both extremely sick. I was disappointed that the skin on my duck wasn't crispy either - for the money you pay, I cannot say the food was memorable at all. It's a shame because the waiting staff were lovely.

A little pricey but excellent food and service in a traditional and comfortable setting.

Old fashioned and quirky, with excellent service. It was a good experience although I was underwhelmed by the scallops starter that was served lukewarm. The main course did not let me down with perfectly cooked beef, roasts that had a slight crunch, horseradish had a nice heat to it and the gravy was rich with flavour. Too full for a pudding, but washed down with a nice bottle of red.

We had the new Afternoon Tea where they took us through South American culinary and theme. A very stunning concept. From the savouries, scones and the cakes, it was absolutely delicious. We were transported!!!

By Far one of the worst experinces ever. Bad service, they forgot half the food and waited till it came in, while the rest of the food got cold, no apology. Questioned why the bill was seperated and ended up having the waiter argue, that it was we ordered. Highly recommend you save your money and have breakfast somewhere else.

Absolutely fabulous mixologist Gergo, ask for him! Not joking I've been to a lot of cocktail bars, this guy is a perfectionist! Will absolutely be visiting again!!

¡Peor manager que nunca! ¡Tuve 2 experiencias horribles con ella! ¡Extremadamente grosero trata tan mal a los clientes, les grita y los echa sin razón! Caducidad Horrivel, ¡no te vayas nunca! Me siento mal por el personal debido a lo horrible que es su manager!
