Great experience, superb surroundings with all comfort imaginable for business setting , well trained , professional and courteous team. Appreciate how welcoming IoD was to us and will definitely be back. While access to Pall Mall is one of many membership perks , it certainly is a significant one.

No wonder this place has such high ratings. We went here on a busy Saturday as my parents rave about the good service & amazing food as well as the generous portions. The manager was incredibly friendly & warm. The portions are some of the most generous I’ve ever come across (esp in London) it’s a great find with delicious food and coffee. Go!

What a great experience.. We are here with my family ( also two grand kids 5 year old and 8 months) from East coast USA. The moment we entered to the restaurant and till the end, the entire staff’s hospitality was so remarkable. Coming from the hospitality industry, I have appreciated that most. The food and drinks are excellent. I would stringy recommend to visit them.

We were ‘dragged’ in off the streets by a couple of members of staff touting for business and it was the best decision of the weekend in London. Beautiful top floor setting overlooking Trafalgar Square and St Martins place. The food was fantastic, the service first class. I’m coeliac and the knowledge of the menu and gluten was excellent and they use a gf soy which opens up pretty much all of the menu.

We were looking for afternoon tea and dropped in to enquire, and what a day to drop in! I went to ask a lady by a champagne stand and she gave my husband and I a free glass of Veuve (my favourite drink) and asked someone to help with our query! Omar (I think) came back and said afternoon tea was available and sat us in ‘The Den’! It’s an interesting room with fun art and board games. Monica then came to take the order and we got three adult and one child aft teas, during this time the lovely lady from the champagne stand brought our girls a ‘St Martins’ monopoly game present each to keep and another champagne! The afternoon tea was really tasty, the scones warm and crumbly, the savoury food was deliciously different and the detail and storytelling was fun too! My husband and I have decided we will stay at the hotel next time we’re visiting London as it was just so wonderful. We had music from the birthday party next door, which was great, our girls had things to do, lovely food, great surroundings, perfect location and wonderful atmosphere! The staff here were exceptional - the champagne lady (I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name), Omar, the young lady who told the afternoon tea story and Monica, you were all so lovely, thanks for a above and beyond London afternoon tea experience! Cheers!

**One Whitehall Place** is a historic building in central London, adjacent to the River Thames and Whitehall Street. It is famous not only for its elegant architecture, but also for its role as an important venue for British political and social events. ### Design and Architecture - **Designer**: One Whitehall Place was designed by architect Alfred Waterhouse and built in the 1880s. Waterhouse is best known for his works in the Victorian Gothic Revival style, such as London's Natural History Museum and Manchester Town Hall. - **Architectural Style**: The building adopts French Renaissance style design, with a solemn and majestic appearance. The building's facade features intricate decorative details, while the interior is notable for its spacious spaces and exquisite decoration. In particular, its magnificent marble staircase and richly decorated meeting rooms are still highlights of the building. ### Historical background and purpose - **Early History**: One Whitehall Place was originally built as the clubhouse of the National Liberal Club. The club was founded in 1882 by William Gladstone, leader of the British Liberal Party, to provide a gathering place for politicians and intellectuals who supported liberalism and reform. - **The Club's Glorious Period**: In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the National Liberal Club was an important center of British political life, and many Liberal Party leaders and famous politicians were members of the club. The club's facilities include a reading room, restaurant and meeting rooms, where political discussions, lectures and social events are held regularly. - **Later Development**: As the Liberal Party declined in the 20th century, the club's importance gradually waned. Today, One Whitehall Place has been converted into part of London's The Royal Horseguards Hotel, but it retains many of its original historical details and architectural features. - **Cultural Heritage**: Due to its historical and architectural value, One Whitehall Place is considered a landmark building in central London and remains the venue for many important events. Its elegant setting and historic atmosphere make it a popular location for weddings, banquets and conferences. One Whitehall Place is a building with a profound historical background. Its elegant design and importance as a political and social venue make it a cultural heritage that cannot be ignored in London. This building has unique value both from the perspective of architectural art and British political history.

I recently visited Haidilao Hot Pot with my mom and had a great experience! Although there was a long waiting list for walk-ins (about an hour), they made the wait enjoyable with games and complimentary soft drinks. Once seated, the food was amazing—definitely one of the best hot pot places I’ve tried. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but the quality and experience were well worth it.

After a lovely evening at the theatre I wanted a cocktail before we got the train home. I have had drinks and food at the Rockwell bar on a number of occassions but yesterday we got treated very badly but a rude member of staff at the Rockwell. The bar manager continued to argue with my family group ( of ladies ) as ‘ we had already had a drink before hand ‘ To then be told wasn’t able to have a drink there even after we was served water and had ordered. Then asked to leave like and had to get our things and go. Very rude, patronising and embarrassing situation for me and my family. For that I will not be returning not recommending this bar to anyone and you can definitely get better service elsewhere.

Introduced to this place earlier in the week and loved it. Really delicious food and love that you can choose your size of rice, spice and a side too. Really tasty and great value. Second visit and had the thinly sliced beef curry. Delicious. Not a place for a long meal but a perfect refuelling before heading off to theatre or something!

I had high hopes for this restaurant, unfortunately my hopes were shattered. Let me start by saying I had received fantastic service at the run up to our dinner when I queried the menu or the dress code and that is where the positives end. We arrived for our pre-theatre dinner a little late and apologised. Once we were seated we realised it didn't make a jot of difference as we were the only people in the entire restaurant. I asked if they were expecting more people to which they replied yes it's early. Looking back we should have left at this point as it was a huge red flag. We ordered cocktails as I'd seen some great cocktails on their social media. What we got was utterly disappointing. They were served in some plastic tumblers which made us feel like we were toddlers. Worst of all, they just didn't taste nice. The flavours were all wrong and they didn't go together. Something important seemed missing They were not cheap at 16 pounds a pop either. So we decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and when our starter was served tucked in. My husband took one mouthful and looked disgusted. He said "I'll eat anything, you know me but I just don't want to eat this. I tried it and again it was just not balanced at all. All style and no substance. My starter was edible enough so I ate it as I was hungry but it was not what I would call tasty. Mains arrived and we considered asking to pay up and cut our losses but we stuck it out. Hoping for a change with our mains. It didn't come. My husband had the chicken shawarma, which could have come from a kebab shop. I had the trout, which looked and tasted more like salmon and which was not cooked properly in the middle. We'd had enough we asked for the bill. We stated our issues and asked for the 12.5 service charge to be removed as this added insult to injury. There was no attempt to apologise or rectify our evening. We left, glad that we were out of that restaurant. The service was poor, no one asked us at any point how our food was as we would have told them. The food was beyond poor. The drinks were poor. Added to this there was zero atmosphere in the restaurant as we were the only customers. A full house of disappointment. Avoid if you have any tastebuds or taste.
